The food at Austin's has always been very good. The farmhouse burger is my go to, but the western is equally as good(if you like an egg on burgers add one to this). Tonight i went with the cheesesteak, and it was delicious. I really don't have complaints about Austin's, it's usually packed when I've gone so service is a little slow but that's to be expected. Okay first the restaurant noise is so loud and I get it it's a sports bar, but I could barely hear our waitress over the noise. The baked potato I ordered seemed to be uncooked it was so hard it was inedible. Chicken fried steak was ok and the corn is not recommended. Why am I begging for service? Do I even have a server? It was pretty clear at Austins that the waitstaff didn't give a hoot about the customers or getting good tips. Mixed drinks = weak. Horrible. We were on our way home to KC. Stopped by to have a late dinner. Food was absolutely unacceptable. Burger fell apart and was completely unable to maintain it's "patty." The grilled chicken bun was so soggy it was disgusting. To top things off, there was such a crowd of "kids" screaming, at the top of their lungs, every vulgarity you could think of. I finally asked them to move, and, quite a crowd of them started "ganging up" on me. We finally left, realizing we were in some redneck town, and, this is how they run their business. Worst svc EVER!!! After we placed our drink order(2 drinks) we waited 10 min's. There were 10 other people in the bar and our waitress had one other table and it was 10:30 on a Friday nite. My husband had to go to the bar to get our drinks. They were ready and the bartender volunteered to remake them. The waitress never even apologized for it, she just pretended it didn't happen. Then when we got our ticket back after she ran the card she billed us $57.00 instead of the $36.00 she was supposed to. I called the manager over and showed her, I also told her about the drinks. She said "that's what the bartender told me." She took the bill and fixed it back to the $36.00. She didn't apologize for any of the issues either. There are not that many choices in the area... I think all of the locals just are used to this mediocre meal. Service from Abby was spot-on. She was friendly and attentive. No problems here. She single-handledly gets the 2 stars on this review. The food was... Sysco quality at its worst. My burger was something that they served me in elementary school. The french fries were worse - and it is hard to screw up french fries! If the big fast food chains were wanting to do a "fry-off" competition, and they wanted to throw in a ringer for just how bad a french fry could be, THIS would be it. Not even ketchup could help these cold, wet, limp slices of potato stuff surrounded by the absolute nastiest artificial fried crust. Not impressed. The first time I went there I got a burger and I asked for ketchup and the waitress told me I had to get it at the condiments stand. If I wanted to get up and get my own ketchup I would have gone to McDonald's, I want my food to come to my table ready to eat.. not have to get up to put what I want on my burger. We had a late dinner at Austin's in Gardner tonight. We were seated promptly in a booth (per our request). Our waitress was Chloe and she took our drink orders while we decided what we wanted to eat. We decided on some wings and a couple of beers while we figured out our entrée. The wings were surprisingly good! When Chloe checked up on us and asked us how the wings were, we told her how much we liked them and she mentioned that the wings were on special on Wednesdays, so we will definitely come back for the wing special on Wednesday! We ordered the Black Bean Burger (hers) and the Bratwurst on a hoagie with jalapenos and sauerkraut (his). They came out pretty quickly. The bean burger was really good - much better than the highly publicized vegetarian burger at a well-known fast food restaurant lol. The brat hoagie was perfect. As a big fan of hoagies, bratwurst, sauerkraut and jalapenos I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was the best I've had in many, many years. The bun was fresh. The brat was well done. The sauerkraut and jalapenos were cooked down a bit so they were moist but not wet (which is important because if you don't do that, everything is soggy and yucky). We finished our meal and wanted another beer because we were really enjoying our evening. We weren't sure what we wanted to drink next but we knew we wanted to try something else. Chloe offered to get us a couple of samples from the bar since we couldn't decide. The wife got a Dale's and he (me) got a MC Hardway. We don't go out to eat often, but we may change that. Pretty neat bar good happy hour prices and offers. Cool experience! They have TV 's everywhere nice place customer service is great. Ordered take out I went to the car pick up , the lady told me to me it was 14.23 but they charged me 39.00! They fixed it for me! the next night I called to order food they were very rude on the phone! went to pick it up set in the car pick up line for ten minutes! We've been there a few times, food is good. The steaks are seasoned right and the fries are good. I have had problems twice with the steak not being cooked right. The first time I ordered medium and it came out well done. They did comp the meal, and offered to give me another one. It happened another time but it wasn't too over cooked, so I just ate it. The chicken sandwich is good also. The service is sometimes not so great, its hit or miss. Another complaint is you have to get your own condiments at the "condiment bar", not something you I agree with when you are expected to tip. Overall quality food and drinks at decent prices. Sneaky! Wen I ordered nachos (not at happy hr) n they charge me 4$ for the meat n 4$ for queso so in total a reg order of nachos 16 gotdam dollas! Since they have upgraded their menu the prices are up and service is down. The food is mediocre. It's always been mediocre. The service usually makes up for that. The servers seem to be confused about where they are. My visit today was to have beer and watch the Royals and something lite to eat. The Royals were stinking it up and so was the server. I am guessing to when you order a burger it doesnt automatically come with sides. You can easily be confused because because sides mean cottage cheese fries etc. It you want toppings you have to go to the toppings bar and get them yourself. Gimme the pickles and tomatoes and KETCHUP. So if you visit, remember toppings you get yourself and sides are fries. If you ask your server he/she might not have the mental capacity to explain it. One good theng is the kitchen somehow is spot on. Perfectly cooked burger. The kitchen 90% of the time is on it. If you just wanna drink sit at the bar. Service is better and the drinks are cold. My wife and I along with another couple met here Friday night for what we thought would be a nice meal and couple of drinks. Service was the worst I believe I have ever experienced. Ordered drinks, appetizers, and a meal and had to literally ask about everything. We spent over 2 hours in there most of the time waiting on our food or drinks. Burger was under cooked for the way it was ordered. Fries, which we only got one of two ordered, were cold and rubbery. The replacement orders of fries arrived after the rest of our meal was eaten. I've never had a bad meal here. The menu is fairly basic. Burgers and a few other sandwiches, grilled chicken, steak, and a couple of fish options. We just recently had the pork tenderloin which was very good, and the grilled mahi which was surprisingly good. I was a little worried about the mahi for obvious reasons. When it was brought out I detected a hint of fishy odor, but luckily there was no fishiness to the taste. It seemed fresh and delicious. read more

I used to frequent Austins in Olathe in early 2000s. They had great burgers and good prices. Over the years and after expanding to Gardener,the food quality has fallen off. And prices have skyrocketed. Burger of Burgers used to be my fav in town. Now it's an average burger and comes in over $10. Their lunch specials are dine in only. So if you work and want to pick something up, you can't take advantage of the only way their food is a value. Wait staff is ok. Depends who you get, but it's not consistently bad or good. Steak sandwich is good, but the cooks can't seem to cook the meat to the wellness you ask for to save their lives. I usually ask for medium, and it comes well done. read more

I would have given a 5 star but the cost is a little pricey. Amazing burgers and fries are the best!!! This place has the best ranch dressing. Only thing I would recommend is not having bar for condiments because a lot get wasted and servers bring them to you as needed so maybe food prices go down.
