Not the smartest staff in town... I watched them serve 6 long island teas to a woman that weighed about 125 lbs All the meanwhile, sober me, couldn't get a drink....she was FALLING DOWN drunk. I saw her stumble out the door, so I went to check on her. She couldn't seem to get her keys into her car door, so I thought I'd help...plus, at that point, I felt obligated. We LOVE Austin's!! Great atmosphere and the food is ALWAYS good. We live about a mile away, so we are frequent customers. They have awesome specials all week and the staff is always very friendly. Also, they have a covered outdoor patio that is actually great all year round. :) read more

I've never wrote a bad review before. I've been a waitress for 8 years, and I believe everyone has bad nights. Saying that, we have gone 5 times now, and every time has been HORRIBLE! You guys seriously need some more training with your servers. Every single time, we have been ignored over and over. It takes the girls forever to get to the table for anything. Not to mention the attitudes. We waited 30 min for a check last time, and when the girl came back "did you want something?".. Come on.. Oh and "sorry we were in a meeting" I'm sorry, but anywhere I've worked, customers come first. If there is a staff meeting, you're team members fill you in after if there is a table to be taken care of. The other day, called the Olathe location on accident. They were prompt, and asked all the right questions when ordering a to go order. When I called the Gardner location, they were short, and didn't ask any questions.. I actually had to correct her. For some reason I cannot figure out...I always end up back here. Lack of options? Has to be. But won't be back after tonight. Our appetizer wasn't put in and came out after our dinner plates. So we didn't get a chance to eat that luke warm spinach dip...darn! After the manager repeatedly asked "would you like me to take that off?" We still sit here waiting for our check...but did I mention pretty much the entire staff including the so called manager flocked to the table next to us and continued on some conversation with a couple young ladies.....forgetting to bring us refills after we were asked. This is beyond terrible and my last straw. Gross food. Terrible service. The management is a joke as we heard one asking if they were going to "tap" that customer tonight. I guess I don't learn my lesson. This is the 5th out of 7 times that I've been disappointed. I'm not one to change it up too often, so I always order the pulled pork with fries. Thank goodness this time I got a side salad. Like I mentioned, 5 out of 7 times, the french fries were rubbery and hard to eat. I found out that they keep their fries in a warming tray, so they're not made to order. So they are warm, but hard on the outside (not in a good way) so when you try to eat them, they are rubbery. The pulled pork is very fatty. Those 2 times they had it right, the fries were fresh. Too expensive to waste most of the meal. read more

Been coming here for years and even after they raised their prices I stuck it out. But after waiting 10 minutes at the wait to be seated sign and numerous staff passing us by the hostess/server that finally greated is with some attitude and a dirty look. If you've never been here, later in the evening it turns into a bar and sometimes you seat yourself. Sign said to wait so we did. During this time there were about 5 staff near the bar that would intermittently look up and see us but not acknowledge us. Now it was fairly busy but not completely packed and there were booths and tables open. We waited and when the short dark haired hostess/waitress came over I asked her if we just sit down or should wait. She gave my girlfriend a bit of a look/smile but just said nope. Girlfriend said we didn't know because we've been here for 10 minutes and no one came over. Again, if there weren't just staff standing and talking it wouldn't have been a problem. When girlfriend told here we were waiting she said "well we're short staff tonight (bit of tude but still tolerable) I said "ok" thinking it was done but hen she said "so I don't know what to tell ya!" With the neck roll. So I said "you know what we will just go thanks." Her response "ok great" I've been coming here since 2007. And people have bad days I get it. I've served myself. But this is 8:45 the place wasn't busy and as a customer I shouldn't have to deal with the tide from a hostess. Never going back. Not having work friends meet up there. And spreading the word to my coworkers that the high prices and attitude aren't worth it. Gardner doesn't have many options but I'll drive north before I go here again. read more

Food is just ok, buns are terrible. They changed their buns a year or so ago and they are not as good. The curbside service isnt good either...they dont post anybody to watch for you, so you gotta go inside to the bar and pay anyway. Prices are too high also read more

Tonight my wife and I went to get a late dinner. We sat down and were seated for about 15 minutes until a woman came over and asked if we wanted something to drink and that our server would be right over. We ordered drinks and our food because who knows how long our waitress would've taken. Our waitress finally came to our table after we had had our food for about 10 minutes and then walked away. My wife ordered a Long Island ice tea, which should be loaded with alcohol, but it turned out to not even taste like one and looked more like murky water. I also had a free drink token for this restaurant and they accepted it after looking at it for about 10 minutes and brought over a bud light. No bud light I have ever had tasted as terrible as this one. I could clearly tell that it was at least watered down but it was way to carbonated for just beer. It looked almost clear and had a strong carbonation like it had been mixed with soda water. Thank God I am moving back to Minnesota so I don't have to go here again. read more

So long as they continue to buy their beef from Scavuzzo's, I will be a lifelong customer. Best hamburger within 25 miles. Great value for the price. Occasionally they have the sports volume up too loud. I'm told the salmon is good also. The managers and servers have been uniformly excellent. read more

they recently changed their menu and made things al la carte. No more meals you have to buy everything separate. When they separated the meals they also increased the price. People are not dumb, if they get a burger, fry and a drink they price increased by 4 dollars. I can understand increasing by pennies due to inflation but the food isn't that great to spend 15 dollars on a burger meal. The service is usually mediocre. This is the last time I eat there. read more

This place continues to get worse. I think they have been watching Bar Rescue. They started using these "fancy" plates & serving cups & menu prices have skyrocketed. All sides are now extra. My sandwich & fries ticket came in at almost $17 & I didn't even have a drink. The food has always been average at best, so put it in a basket & quit trying to be an upscale restaurant. Went in on Monday at 1:30pm. There were 3 customers plus me and my son. I asked for a side of blue cheese when i ordered. A different girl brought our food with no blue cheese. I asked her for some. Never got it. It took 30 minutes to get two sandwiches and fries and no blue cheese. I refused to est my sandwich. My son took it home. It was so slow in there not to get a request right is unacceptable to me. Myself, I'll never go back in there again. Oh, and it cost me $31.22 for all that. read more

Been coming here forever, Jen was the best bar manager there was. Came in tonight to find different staff and Jen was no longer part of Austins. Service was poor, food was fine. Drinks were wrong several times, then our bill was wrong since Monday is 1/2 price burgers and were charged full price. Came here sometimes twice a week. Took family there for dinner last night. We all ordered the shrimp dinner special, which was supposed to come with a loaded baked potato. Waitress informed us that they were "out of baked potatoes", (there's a Price Chopper across the street, couldn't they just buy some potatoes there?), but we could have mashed potato instead, or french fries, but french fries would cost an extra $1 to "upgrade" from a baked potato. Unbelievable. We had the mashed potatoes, a dollop of plain mashed potatoes, just awful. After waiting 15 minutes for the waitress to bring our beer, the bartender finally took pity on us and brought them out. After another 15 minute wait, our salads arrived, we asked the waitress about the appetizer that we had ordered and told her if she had forgotten it that was OK, to just cancel it, did not want it to arrive same time as dinner. She promptly left, before any of us could ASK for silverware. Ten minutes later she was back to ask how our salads were, we asked if we could please have some silverware and napkins. 10 minutes later, our appetizer arrived, a few minutes before our dinner. Overall, just a HORRIBLE experience. We have eaten there many times, and it has usually been very good. Not this time, I will NOT go back.There are just too many good bar/restaurants in the area: 54th St, Granite City, Twin Peaks, Set 'em up Jacks, etc., I could not imagine risking another trip back to Austins. Sad. It used to be good food and good service, the loaded baked potato was one of the best I've ever had. Last night's experience was a one star, but I'll give it two based on how it used to be. read more
