The bar is very popular here! Too loud for dinner so we ventured into the dining room meant for large events. It's too bad. They didn't make it a little bit more accessible to the bar area because it was just us and one other couple in this huge big room that was beautiful. I feel like it could be better utilized if they opened up a wall or something give people a place to go When that bar area gets so full like it was, they make their own rum, and I got a rum punch, which was absolutely delicious very false spiced tasting. We ordered the margarita flatbread, which would've been better if it had basil on it, which is what a margarita is supposed to have, but it was actually absolutely delicious with the heirloom tomatoes and thick chunks of bacon. My coworkers and I had an early dinner here. We first started off with drinks. My skinny margarita was fantastic! We then decided to order a bunch of appetizers before our entrees. My favorite appetizer I think was the deviled eggs with crab! It's creative and was pretty good. The different chicken wings were good. The calamari was crispy and perfectly seasoned. I ordered medium rare steak fries with upgraded truffle fries. When the dish came out it came with a slab of butter on top of the steak. The truffle fries didn't taste like any truffle oil was infused into them (or maybe they forgot I'm not sure). The steak was a little overcooked and just bland. Only bartender that's cool is Jack (thx Jack) but the other bartender's are rude as hell. I had my boyfriend go in a while and order his drink while I found a parking spot and it took me no more than two minutes to come in after him to order a drink. I walk in and the bartender was demanding money before I even got to order my drink. I had to look at him and genuinely ask, "well can I order a drink too?" and he rushed me completely. Had a work dinner here. They had this huge room for us with our own bar. The place is modern yet barn like at the same time. The food was amazing. The cheesteak empanadas were something that I would fight over. Soo good. The service was great and very attentive. I did not get over to the other side of the place to see what it is like going in there for a normal trip but as far as a place to host your company dinner at this is a great spot. read more

This place is like a high performance car hiding under a modest shell. 1) bartenders -best in the tristate area, friendly, efficient and willing to change, add, chill , anything, they are simply fun, 2) the food is outstanding probably the best in a 60 mile radius, it's totally under-rated on food . Classy and comfortable. Absolutely delicious food that is rich and flavorful. My daughter had the spicy noodle bowl and I ordered the lobster roll sliders. The sliders were amazingly delicious. My only complaint is that there weren't more of them. My daughter loved the freshness of the ingredients in the noodle bowl but avoided the red sauce on the side of the bowl due to its level of spice. The food was well prepared and the staff was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. The interior dining area was clean and well maintained. Decor was a blend elegant and edgy. My partner and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat and a couple of drinks recently and were treated terribly by one of the bartenders, female/blonde. I have always had wonderful experiences with the service and staff previous to this night and was never mistreated by her or other staff any other time I came alone or with others. I couldn't help but feel that the bartender was deciding to be prejudice/judgmental toward my partner of color, as anyone else who walked in the door was treated very kindly by her. I love coming here but seeing everyone else get treated respectfully, besides myself and my partner was so unsettling and ruined our experience there for the night. We are very easy going customers and always make sure to tip well over the standard, so the unnecessary mistreatment and attitude here was not a good feeling. read more

Had a wonderful dinner with my girlfriends at Building 24's restaurant tonight. When you come in there's a beautiful cozy atmosphere with a warm fireplace and outdoor covered and heated deck area. All of our food we ordered was delicious, loved the steak butter on the Steak Frites. They gave us sooo much french fries and I'm not complaining! The orange sauce was like a horse radish spicy sauce. Food was pricy and menu was limited compared to some other restaurants however they give you big portions and the food doesn't disappoint. Service is good and the place is cool. We have been there a lot of times. The food goes through cycles which I assume is a change in the kitchen. Well, they are in one of the bad cycles. 2 small plates, duck, and the flatbread were not good. I do not think I will be able to order Duck for a long time in any restaurant. Tried a bunch of stuff. Crab dip was ok but nothing special. French onion soup so bland horrific laughable. Deviled eggs with chicken was a silly mess of a taste. Coconut curry chicken came served without curry. Bland tasteless. The pasta was super weird texture and nasty nas . We tried a bunch of stuff and just left laughing at half eaten everything because it was so bad. Left, tipped well, didn't complain but will never be back again. First of all, thIs review comes from someone who has been to building as a regular. Building 24 is easily one of the best clubs I've ever been to. But last night, 11/30-12/1, the DJ with the Instagram handle lovecitydjs was possibly the least experienced DJ I've ever seen. That's okay because you gain experience through exposure, but I call into question Building 24s selection of DJs. Even at midnight, the floor was mostly empty. Panning the room, there was maybe 40-50 people present and all were standing, watching the DJ to see if he would play something club-worthy. The DJ would play a good song to get people to the floor and then change it 20 seconds later to a song that made absolutely NO sense for the audience nor the mix and in some cases, the style. There were a lot of let-down transitions that disrupted the flow (for example, picture building up the beat drop and then when it's time, you miss the beat drop) The DJ did not pay attention to the audience. He had his list and he was sticking to it no matter what the audience said. With an empty floor 85% of the night, I think I'd get the idea that my set is not appealing and I'd make the necessary adjustments. With that being said, that was one night. Building 24 overall is a spectacular club/restaurant and more than worth a visit. I'd pay extra attention to who is the DJ before going though. read more

Accidentally ended up at Building 24 after The restaurant at the Works was closed. We were hesitant to bring our 3 young boys into a nice restaurant, but it ended up being the best night. They had Kraft Mac n Cheese (every little kids dream) and chicken nuggets & French fries. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was absolutely delicious and drinks were strong. Highly recommend the crab cakes!!!! It was storming, so our waitress told us how to get over to the Works without even going outside. 10/10 can't wait to visit again! read more

Came here for the first of several jazz concerts at the Berks Jazz Festival. The concerts are held at various venues around the Reading, PA area and Building 24 is one of the venues that is hosting some of them. The venue was located five miles west on Penn St., a straight shot from our hotel. There was plenty of parking on the lot outside of the venue. The complex shares space with an adjacent bar/lounge and family entertainment complex, which includes go karts, trampoline and a Dave and Busters type establishment. Upon entering, we were ushered to the entrance of the venue and presented our tickets. Even though they had a seat number assigned on them, they were GA and we were told to sit where we wanted. The tables were situated in such a way that you had to turn your chair around to face the stage, which was no big deal. We were seated at the front of the table so close to the stage that I could reach out and touch it. Once the concert started, it was amazing. Being so close to the artists was a joy and the volume was not too much. This venue was just large enough to not give off a feel of being cramped. There were hostesses who came around to take food and drink orders. All in all a nice opening concert and venue for the jazz festival. read more

I'm reviewing my Bar and food experience. This place is very cool, especially for Reading. I had never been here, and my sister suggested that we meet for drinks. The location is a building that used to be a manufacturing plant and has been re purposed into restaurants, a gym, and an art gallery. As a result there is a large parking lot that can either be seen as an eyesore or a great way to have parking for everyone. The bar itself is very nice. It is simple yet well appointed. We were immediately greeted by a hostess and then the bartender and our drinks were served quickly. I enjoyed several of the drinks on their specials list including a Ginger lime martini that was quite memorable. We also ordered the white bean hummus and the broiled brussel sprouts. I can honestly say that their brussel sprouts may be the best I've ever had. They have walnuts and cranberries mixed in with a nice blend of oil and balsamic vinegar. The hummus was also quite good and I would recommend ordering either one, or both. Our bartender was attentive without being annoying and was quite personable. I would definitely return here the for drinks with friends and food. I highly recommend it. read more

Let me preface this review by saying it is for the bar/outdoor patio area. I would never go to a club or whatever the dance side is called. I'm not sure why the reviews are so low- but it seems like that is what everyone is reviewing. If you're looking for a place to go after work for drinks and food- this is the spot for you. I've gone a few times after work... and the crowd has been pretty similar. Monday-Friday 5-8 you have your business professionals. Suits and ties. You know. Myself and a coworker went Friday night and our server was incredible. She was sweet and personable. She definitely made us feel welcome and important. The drinks are good. Strong. The only thing I would suggest is a cocktail menu. They have a wine/beer menu... and can accommodate whatever cocktail you ask them to make... but I prefer to have options on paper. Plus- it's fun to try seasonal cocktails, which this place lacks. The food was very good. I ordered the lobster salad- which was fresh and the perfect portion size. My coworker had a burger which was cooked how she asked for it. We also had the strawberry balsamic wings. They're life. Yes. The outside patio has a view of the parking lot. But that really can't be changed. I go to the place to drink, eat, and hangout with friends. Not to stare at a parking lot. So it gives me everything I ask for! read more

I would avoid this place during the pandemic. They require you to wear a mask, yet our waitress wasn't wearing one and gave attitude when we requested that she pull it up over her face. After two mediocre visits to Bldg 24 in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Bldg 24 is a poor excuse for a nightclub and I have no intention to return. Their $6 double shot mix drinks are strong but my distaste for their attempt at New York City-style and adult ambiance is stronger. The club used to be an old turn-of-the century factory. It opened summer of 2010. A beautiful open veranda full of drunken buffoons greets you as you round the corner to the club's simple entrance. The entry fee is reasonable for $5 on a regular night. I unwillingly paid $7 for a white out party. I should have worn white to get in for free because I left after 20 minutes that specific night. Security frisks all its guests. But as a woman in a skintight dress, you will find nothing extra on me except for the possibly dangerous metal wiring in my push up bra. Upon first entry, I was very disappointed with the decor, lighting and space. It resembled the cheesy Guido-filled nightclubs on MTV's Jersey Shore. Flashing lights blinded me. Steel rods line the ceiling. The dance floor is dirty concrete. Four bars allow for quick purchases and consumption of drinks. The VIP section should be the WTFAY (Who the fuck are you) section. This is Reading, PA. We don't have very important people. Sorry. The fourth bar is on the second floor with a balcony that peers over the dance floor. Go up there for eagle eye views of balding men and female bosoms. As I sauntered across the dance floor, all the casual and trashy attire appalled me. Girls wore denim shorts, Hollister tanks and flats. The men dressed as expected; polos, button ups and slacks. Some had the nerve to sport simple tees and Nike sneakers. The crowd was a mix between college undergrads and older men. I snickered when a man my father's age tried to seduce me by singing Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." I said sang back, "How about never." The rest of the music was Top 40, some 90s hits and house. The house part was just the Top 40 with a techno beat, very unoriginal. I was taken aback when I was handed my drink in a plastic cup. I have partied in Boston, New York City, Rome, Paris and Barcelona. I do not sip drinks in a club from plastic cups. I also like my bartenders to be hot sexy men and/or women. The one's at Bldg. 24 are drab and don't perform cool bar tricks. I know they're not dogs but I still like my bar back entertainment. Overall, I felt like I was at a college basement party, but those are usually better than what I experienced at Bldg. 24. The club is open until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. It does not fill up so don't rush to get their on time. A fashionably late appearance will still make you look just on time for absolutely nothing. read more

In the same complex and with the same ownership as The Works, Building 24 seems to go for a more grown-up ambiance. I stopped in for a drink during the week, and the large front windows were open (beautiful view of the Wyomissing Post Office, but I actually love post offices). Nice porch too. Chocolate brown walls and a white marble bar make it a relaxing space. The large doll cutouts on the wall will definitely catch your attention, and there is other art which seems to be on loan from the Goggle Works, so there may be a rotating collection. The dolls scare me a little as they watch over the place, but I also enjoy being surprised by art. They have other neat images of old Reading on the walls. The funny/sad thing I saw when I was in here was 4 women enthusiastically enjoying cocktails at a booth, while an 8-year-old girl glumly colored beside them. So the place gets all ages. We thought we might feel old but did not, at least during the week. It's open until midnight weekdays, not sure how long the kitchen serves, so it is a needed late night non-dive spot in Berks. There is a full menu too, but there was only one thing we could eat on it as vegans: french fries. Please add more healthy food to the menu or note that it is customizable if you are willing. People, especially women, will eat it if it is there. How about a Vietnamese spring roll or a grilled portobello? Good Eatz has some great ideas of how to do healthy food stylishly. There is too little of this in Berks. We did not get to see the nightclub space, but I heard it has 3 bars and that the DJs are really good. I hope to hear more about this from someone who has gone. Nice wine list (and really nice white wine glasses). There is Spanish bubbly by the glass for $6, and we loved the White Haven Sauvignon Blanc for $8, very limey, from New Zealand. The bartender was friendly and informative. I forgot to ask whether there was a happy hour. I have not had great experiences with The Works, see my review here, but I noticed that it too has some nice upgrades, especially to the front bar. read more

Let me first say that this review is for the bar/nightlife experience, not the food. Every time I come here I leave knowing it was a bad idea.... Came here on a Saturday night to see Go Go Gadjet. Waited in a line that seemed longer then the Great Wall if China, outside. Ok I get it, it's Saturday and there was a decent band BUT they were supposed to start at 10, didn't start until 11. So they wouldn't let people in!? It's February in the north east and there were ladies in said line with tank tops on waiting in frigid temps for about an hour. Get to the point of finally paying the cover charge to which the guy says it'll be $10. Well that's funny I called earlier and someone told me it was $8. Drinks are overpriced, people literally stand on the dance floor and there's about 1 bartender for every 50 guests. Oh Building 24 how you manage to let me down every time. read more

Had a bouncer tip over an entire table of drinks on me. My friend and I went to the front to ask him to replace the drinks and he denied the entire encounter. Thankfully the coat check staff is extremely nice and let me get my coat to dry off while the bouncer hid outside. Respectable customers still get the worst of the "security" staff. I am visiting from out of town and had to spend the rest of the evening with soaked jeans. My friend called when we got home to place a complaint about to this bouncer as there does not appear to be a contact email on the site. While we understand a security position at a bar is stressful, spilling paying customer's drinks on a person on a freezing cold night deserves an apology. read more

This review is just for the restaurant (or as they call it, the "kitchen" and not the club). Building 24 is a nice addition to the Reading area dining scene. I have only eaten there for brunch. The bar is huge, really beautifully designed as the center of the place. The wall of windows was opened to the outdoor deck and there was a nice feel to the place. I'm not sure how things will go in the wintertime; the place is not very big and it seemed to me that they will lose more than half their seats when the cold weather comes. There is a huge beer and wine list. I had the Brooklyn omelet the first visit and then eggs benedict with salmon. I enjoyed the food and the Bloody Marys. I have to say I wasn't entirely blown away, but brunch was good enough to make me want to go back for dinner. I poked my head into the club in the back. It is huge! More importantly, while sitting on the outdoor patio we were told we had to remove our six-year old golden retriever laying quietly under the table from an outdoor patio that allows disgusting cigarette smoke. In the rest of the known universe, patios are for allowing patrons with well-mannered dogs to bring their dogs with them. The dog with us is a therapy dog, thus it goes without saying that she is well-behaved. Moreover, the manager didn't even come over and tell us himself. Review is on food and venue. I've been here numerous times over the last three years, primarily for jazz or funk oriented evenings. Some good wine selections and I thought I had had some decent enough food a year or two ago, but last night all of our food was an utter disappointment. I couldn't believe we paid even $7 for a plate of rubbery, anemic pita bread and flavorless "hummus". It wasn't marked on the menu that it was sweet potato hummus, so I was confused to find a solid log of potato in our pile of hummus. We laughed about it and told our waitress who then informed us it was potato oriented hummus. (Our waitress was very sweet and attentive by the way) I thought "well, if I were allergic to sweet potatoes, I'd be dead already and no idea why!" Need to mark those things on the menu guys... Come on now. My entree was a sad, greasy crab cake sandwich. Fries were okay, but everything was one note; bland. My fiancé had the burger which was equally as boring. It stinks because I thought they used to have their burgers on brioche, but the "bread" last night was on par with Burger King. If the live music weren't so enjoyable and the performance space so decent and relatively comfortable, I'd give the food zero stars if that were an option. Serving 5 tiny scallops that were slightly over cooked for 21.00 is crazy. You also have to pay extra for the sides. A friend of mine ordered the roast chicken, and it came out as a very small chicken leg on her plate...for 16.00! My lobster tortellini was actually a decent size, but fell short on taste. If you want to charge this much for food, it should be amazing. I could have taken my group to Judy's for real gourmet food at the same price. I won't ever eat here again. Live music venue could be improved by clearing tables and having standing room in front of stage. The bar is very slow, and the wait staff all fend for themselves. There are no sections for waitresses so by the end of the night I had a tab with 3 different girls and I visited the bar myself twice as well meaning I had to pay 4 different people. The venue has at least 24 intelligent lights for the stage and the light show for Jr brown was mediocre, and reminiscent of 1980's par car technology A little effort on the managements part and the live shows could be way better. read more

My daughters wedding reception was held here. It cost $81 per person for a full course dinner and two alcoholic drinks.Food was excellent however I do not recommend a wedding reception. Place was an oven and guests complained the entire 4 hours. No one would get up and dance cause sweat was rolling off everyone. People were leaving early cause it was hotter inside then it was outdoors. Again food was excellent but the place is not good for wedding receptions in the summer read more
