This place is spectacular and delicious. It is exactly what we needed in Great Falls...a genuine, charming, delicious ethnic restaurant. My suggestions: GET REAL DISHES AND SILVERWARE! This would be a great "date night" , "family dinner" place if you had this. Why are you promoting this as fast food? It's much better than that! Usually love this place and it's nearby my work, but very disappointed because they ran out of sour cream and tomatoes, I ordered a burrito bowl with chicken. The chicken was rubbery and tasted uncooked and terrible. There was no real flavor and I kinda forced myself to eat it. Also the bowl was very expensive compared to the quality, around $10 something. This place started out good, but has recently went downhill. I assume there is new ownership and the food just isn't that great anymore.

The food is very good and a variety is great. Small outdoor space is a plus. I give it five stars because of the wonderful service. My child who didn't feel well vomited at the restaurant before we ordered. The ladies were simply lovely. It is hard to blame the child but I understand how terrible it must have been for the staff and the customers. We were helped, assured no harm has been done, made feel we were still welcome and even got recipe for the home remedy for sickness. Thank you :) read more

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. The food was FANTASTIC and the service was absolutely OUTSTANDING and very reasonable in price. My partner enjoyed Aji De Gallina and I had the Tallarines Verdes--both were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! This place was just so relaxed that it was the perfect place for a weekend lunch. It is also family friendly as we notice that half of the tables were filled with families. If you have never enjoyed Peruvian food, I recommend this restaurant and have either of the dishes that I mentioned. WE will definitly be back to try all of the other entrees. read more

We were visiting Great Falls last weekend & found Pio Pio on our Yelp search for restaurants in the area on Saturday night. Since two out of three of us in our family traveling party are familiar with Peruvian food, we decided to go there. The interior is bright and clean. We were directed to have a seat at the table since we weren't ordering takeout. The menu is quite conclusive with a variety of typical, Peruvian dishes. We ordered one bowl of the chicken rice soup, Lomo Saltado (stir fry of Chinese influence) w/rice, Seco de Carne (beef stew) & Jalea (batter-fried fish & seafood). I had a bottled, Chicha Morada (purple corn & fruity punch w/clove seasoning) to drink. The hearty soup hit the spot on that chilly evening & came in a bowl large enough that two of us shared it. All dishes were generous in quantity compared to other Peruvian places we've been to in Los Angeles & San Mateo, California & in Honolulu. The beef in the Seco was tasty and well-stewed, chewy but not tough. The Tilapia, shrimp & squid rings in the Jalea were tender & nicely, crispy. The young lady who served us was cheery, helpful and efficient. There was a steady trickle of patrons, some Spanish speaking & other adventurous gringos who all had favorable remarks for the dishes they were trying for the first time, as we overheard. Dan, the owner, visited each table and gave us a good explanation of why we found the soup to be a little on the salty side. What we were served came from the bottom of the pot as it had been a popular item that evening. So as a result, it was thicker and saltier than usual. Even though we couldn't finish our entrées, for dessert we all shared a Pastel de Tres Leches (3 Milks Cake) that was very good (almost as good as what I make) & still had enough to take home. We enjoyed the rest of the Jalea the next evening, reheated in the oven. Our hosts, who have lived in Great Falls since the early 90s, had not come here since it was the barbecued chicken place. They are frequent international travelers and adventurous eaters. We told them that they will enjoy the new menu as everyone I have taken to try Peruvian food always does. If this place keeps doing what it's doing, the word will get out and they should continue to do well in this upscale neighborhood. ¡Buena suerte y mucho éxito! read more

Really wanted this place to be good. TBH I didn't try the lomo or the pollo a la brasa. I had arroz con mariscos and yuca huancaina. The rice was bland, amount/quality seafood left much to be desired. Huancaina was not huancaina, not sure what it was, if I had to guess it was reconstituted from powder. read more

Not bad! Stopped in here for a quick lunch. Was greeted right away and ordered immediately. By the time I said I wanted a half chicken, a guy appeared with a plate asking what sides I wanted. I opted for my ususal fried Yuca, although I thought it was strange that they charge extra for it, as I've never seen that before. For my other side I chose the fajita vegetables. The chicken was really good, and flavored well. My only suggestion for improvement for the chicken would be to cook it at a little higher temp to get the skin crispy. Other than that it was delicious and very moist. I opted for only yellow sauce, as I like that a lot more than the green. Halfway through my meal the lady at the register noticed that I was tearing through the sauce, and offered to bring me another which to which I gladly accepted. The fajita veg was okay, nothing that blew me away. I like my vegetables to be cooked a little more than what these were, but at least they were seasoned well. Definitely a decent peruvian chicken joint worth going to. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to go back again thoguh. read more

I ordered from Pio Pio using Foodsby...it sucked...really, it was terrible. To be honest, the black beans were pretty good. Most of the chicken went in the trash. I ordered all white meat half a chicken. It was chicken from the prior night...you can tell leftovers, especially when the wings are so overcooked you get the crispy jerky effect. The breast meat was dry...as in really dry. A true disappointment and I won't be giving them another try. Maybe it's a good place for dinner when the food is fresh. read more

The chicken and the sides are good. This is a nice quick meal, but not the best in the area by any means for Peruvian chicken or mexican.

Great addition to the Village. Chicken is solid. The green jalapeño sauce is really good. Plantains are best side.

Well we have had two family dinners in two days from Pio Pio. I have to say that we highly recommend it to Great Falls Families. Night one we have the Chicken which is top shelf. The sides and sauces were great and you can tell that they are store made. Night two we went back because they have burritos and quesadillas. Burritos were awesome and I feel better than Chipotle or California which are our other local choices. The Quesadillas were also very good. Pleased a very picky child that hates everything. I am glad to have them in the neighborhood. Our experience was worth posting about - my wife ( a very very picky person) even suggested we share how good it was. That is all! Enjoy. read more

I've been to a lot of pollo places and this is the real deal, albeit in a more "upscale" setting. The food here is so savory and fresh. I've been here twice this week and enjoyed the chicken tacos and the various delicious sides, including the authentically Peruvian sides. Highly recommended! read more

Recently met up with some friends here who live in the area. The food here is insanely good, especially for the price and portion sizes. Everyone I was with loved what they ordered. This will definitely be a spot we go back to when we're in this part of town. To me this is not your typical Peruvian dining experience in America. I typically see a real authentic place that isn't too nice to sit in, or nice restaurant with mediocre food. Pio Pio is kind of in that sweet spot where you have great food in a comfortable dining area. I highly recommended it! read more

Tried this great Peruvian restaurant for the first time this weekend.. What a great find!! My wife and I tried several items and absolutely thrilled with the fresh Peruvian food. My Ceviche appetizer was the best I've had in a while- very fresh, a generous serving of tilapia (that could have served as a whole meal) and a memorable tangy, lime seasoning. The 1/2 chicken meal was a wonderfully charred barbecue spicy taste. My wife's shrimp meal was great too. Service was also very friendly at this great, casual little place in Great Falls. We did carry out Mexican, which is set up like Chipolte cafeteria style. But they don't do the volume so the ingredients are not as fresh. We'll be back, but only for the roast Peruvian chicken and sides, which are good. read more

The staff is friendly and the place is bright and clean. I love the chicken but some of the side dishes are jusk "okay".

Had an unfortunate dinner here this evening. Despite asking for the yuca to be cooked extra crispy, it was served undercooked and tasted of 'old' cooking oil. Similarly disappointed in the plantains, which were dry and also had an odd oil taste. Chicken though, was good and well seasoned. The bar is getting pretty high in Great Falls, and Pio Pio's new management will have to raise their game if they're going to compete with other restaurants in the area. read more

We have been getting food from Pio Pio for the past 6 months. We've had the 1/4 and 1/2 chicken (both white and dark meat), Burrito bowls, tacos, and many of the sides. The chicken is always moist and flavorful and the sides are interesting and tasty. The meals are great and the sauces make the dishes a standout. I love both the green and yellow sauces.
