Imagine my surprise finding Ethiopian food in Hawaii. What made it nicer was how kind the owner was and that the homemade injera was 100% teff= gluten free. We got the red and yellow lentils with the simple green salad. All of it was tasty and the side of hot sauce was my favorite part. The owner described the food as health conscious Ethiopian and I appreciate that there wasn't oil floating on top which you'll sometimes find. read more

This is truly authentic Ethiopian food. I am honestly amazed! I lived in Ethiopia for one year... I currently live in oakland where there are Ethiopia restaurants in abundance. When I first came to Kauai and saw this stand I didn't know what to think and my friends wanted to prioritize local foods. This time, I made my way over to check this spot out. I met Abby, the owner and chef, who is from Ethiopia. She has lived in Kauai for a very long time and has such reverence for the land and local people. The injera took me back to Ethiopia! Made of pure teff grain it is gluten free! The meat was fresh made with fresh rosemary and the red lentils and greens were some of the best I ever had! We will definitely be back! read more

Chanced across her food truck in Kapaa after a hike (Nounou/The Sleeping Giant) nearby. We love Ethiopian food, and hers in among the best we've tried. Real 100% Teff flour injera, grass fed local beef, amazing lentils and split peas, and she makes a truly hot hot sauce that was all delicious. She was charming and fun to talk with. We had the plate with lentils alicha (no spice), brown lentils (not misr kik wat unfortunately) and beef tibs. The beef was very flavorful and tender -excellent. The lintels were ok. The injera was ok. We were told it is from tef, but it wasn't spongy or tangy. Maybe it is hard to create good injera in the tropics. The owner is very nice and interesting to talk with. If you want to scratch your Ethiopian food itch, then dig in, but it's not a great place to go for an introduction to injera and wat. read more

Pleasantly surprised! We found this place in Kapaa and I had to try it. The owner cares about using local, clean ingredients. I got the plate with beef- both pea dishes and the injera were really yummy, but I would have liked some S&P or vinegar on my kale. She may have had that, I was just too lazy to ask. The beef was seasoned well, but a bit gristly. I think she said it was tri tip so I think that's just the makeup of the cut. This place is worth checking out! read more

Tucked away kinda it in the back. there's a sign on highway. . Her food is excellent!! She has vegan plates , and vegetarian plates , and also for meat eaters too .. Definitely one of the Best food trucks on Kauai. Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM.. I highly recommend her vegan plate, so delicious!!! Some of the Best Ethiopian food I've ever had... She also does first Saturday (ARTWALK IN KAPAA) She usually sells out, her food is so good. She specializes in clean food. and all Organic and lot of its from the Local farmers market, fresh and delicious.. Definitely a Restaurant you don't want to miss, why you're on Kauai!! read more

My parents got the jerk chicken and the pineapple shrimp and they freakin loved it. The flavors were amazing and the portions were perfect. The sauce on the chicken was delicious; it was tangy, sweet, and super flavorful. Both dishes were wonderful and will definitely have to come back. Great service as well!!!! read more

Forgot to take their business and menu photo, but I suspect the ownership of this food cart has changed (or maybe just their menu??) compared to what has been posted on yelp in the past. The current owners have been there since Feb 2022. I can't say enough great things about their current options. We had their jerk chicken plate and the chicken curry plate--both were excellent, with slaw and a dirty rice or yellow rice side. The jerk spice was amazing! We sampled their hibiscus nectar, which was also excellent. This food truck is worth it! Chicken was cooked perfectly, melted off the bone and not overdone or dry. We will be back! read more

This was soooo good. The flavors are on point and the owners so nice you just want to support them. We had jerk chicken with rice and cabbage- doesn't sound mind blowing, but it was. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and the seasoning was mouth watering. Everything was just so well cooked and flavorful. The tamarind-pineapple nectar was a perfect accompaniment. Authentic Ethiopian food cooked by a super sweet Auntie who legitimately cares about using clean local ingredients. The plate is well sized, and a great deal for $15. You get local sautéed greens, local grass fed beef, lentils, split peas, homemade hot sauce, and injera! All of it organic and gluten free! She's only open Thursday-Saturday from 12-5, so make sure to plan it into your week! read more
