Best dinner of the week! Great menu, and incredible food. Watched Brody (?) put fresh vegetables into various dishes from the window, and all the portions were huge. My cilantro pesto wrap with ahi was amazing and I was sad not to be able to finish it ( breakfast tomorrow!) Hubby got the chicken satay plate which was another huge meal served on a bed of rice and equally amazing. The smells emanating from the kitchen should be enough to stop anyone in their tracks and run to eat here. Sorry I didn't get the name of the friendly female taking orders but she was super friendly. The hibiscus lemonade was refreshing. Love the Heather Brown mural on the wall as well, one of my favorite artists too!! Not too many tables but worth the wait!!!!

Since surrounding restaurants were unexpectedly closed, Mermaids was the third restaurant we tried and were finally able to find a spot to grab lunch. You order at a window and can check out their menu at the counter. I was so hungry and decided to order the focaccia sandwich where you can choose your protein, and of course I chose ahi. They had a variety of housemade teas and lemonades, but I ordered the hibiscus tea with lemonade. It was super refreshing! It took about 15 minutes for our food to come out, but it did not disappoint! The sandwich was huge and served with toppings on the side for you to add what you want. The pesto aioli on the sandwich was delicious! All in all, for a rough start to us finding a lunch spot, this gem of a restaurant saved the day!

So delicious! One of our favorite stops while on Kauai. We had the guava flow, hibiscus lemonade, ahi tuna wrap and focaccia sandwich with chicken. All of the flavors were incredible and everything was extremely fresh. The focaccia was seasoned perfectly and had the best soft to crunch ratio.

Peanut satay wrap is what dreams are made of. Fast, friendly and fantastic. Hadn't been here in over ten years, we moved off Island. Thought of the taste here often and it's better than ever! ‍

Everything! This small hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Kapaa just oozes with tasty treats. The Poke Bowl is sooo delicious I had to return 3 days straight to munch this delight!

The food was disappointing. We ordered two island tacos--one with ahi and one with chicken. Unfortunately, the tacos were so soggy that you couldn't even pick them up; we had to eat them with chopsticks. When they arrived, both the chicken and the ahi looked exactly the same because they were covered in the same sauce--and honestly, they tasted almost the same too. The fish was tasteless , just salty without real flavor, while the chicken was overly spicy. The beans, however were very good--I really enjoyed those. The service was also good.

Wow. As a San Diego native, I've had some decent poke but this poke was actually to die for. The owner, Kelsey, was so nice and hooked me up with the best ginger drink after I said I wasn't feeling well. Such an inviting and friendly place.

Highly recommend Mermaids Café! I got the cilantro pesto wrap with chicken and it was delicious. Everyone was friendly and the food came out quick. They have great outdoor seating right in front. The wrap was pretty good size too so I was able to bring half of it in a box to the beach and enjoy it later! 10/10 recommend this spot!!

This place was recommended by a friend and we stopped here on our way to Princeville. It is most definitely worth the hype. The tuna wrap was delicious...the wasabi aioli brought everything together - this was a large wrap and left me very full. The poke bowl was fresh and delicious. The prices were very reasonable for Hawaii. I would suggest to anyone looking for a quick bite!

Best fish tacos ever! I live in San Diego where we have great fish tacos too. But these were amazing! It's a little hard to find but make sure you do find it. Worth it!.

Popular menu items include ahi katsu 10/10, chili pepper chicken 9/10, and Hawaii's own- loco moco (not a huge fan in general). They offer a variety of other options, including poke, ramen, and sandwiches, with convenient takeout and delivery available. It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Obviously, you cannot visit Hawaii without having some of their poke- always fresh and delightfully tasty. The marinade was savory and packed with flavor.

Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.
