I had a problem with more garage door not closing all the way. Looks like the door was hitting the garage door frame. I temporarily fixed it myself to close it but wanted A- Authentic to come look at it. The technician came early. I had no problem with that. He wore a mask. He saw the problem and shaved off part of the door frame. I probably could have fixed it myself but I prefer professionals to look at it just in case they see another issue. I received a phone call from A-Authentic about a special that they were running. We had used A-Authentic before for garage door work and were happy with their work. I agreed to sign on for an inspection and replace the garage door rollers for the $130.00 special price. Tech. Joe H showed up on time and he asked me what the trouble was. Evidently, he didn't know about the coupon deal I got over the phone. At this point, I was not having any trouble with the door. When the new rollers went in, the door was now unbalanced. I asked Joe H. what it would take to balance the door? Joe's inspection revealed one of the drums showed excessive wear. I asked. if I replaced the drums and bearings, would that fix the door? Joe said "No". Joe said that I would have to replace the two big door springs too. I asked how long do the door spring last? Joe said 5 to 6 years. I checked my old receipts from A-Authentic and found that the spring were 5.5 years old. Oh well, I signed on to have all the above-mentioned parts replaced. After the work was done, my door was back to being balanced and the door operation is now quieter. However, my $130 "special" is now at $954.55 Joe H did a great job with the rehab. of my garage door and he extended a $95 discount on the cost. He gave me some good advice on the care of my door. Called them to repair the Garage door track, paid somewhere for all new tracks and then when the service was complete they told me that the bearings were worn and would need to be replaced. Now 2-3 months later the garage door is not opening and I assume it is due to the added stress that the bad bearings are putting on the motor of the opener. When He was quoting the price he should have let us know that this was an issue so we could have told him to replace them. He did his initial inspection where he checked them and I was upset to not know about that when we agreed to all charges he suggested. We would have gladly accepted the cost for replacement bearings but was never given the option. read more

We replaced our 32yo garage door and opener with an insulated door and QUIET programable opener. Our appointment was for Monday at 10am. At exactly 10am an installer arrived fully masked and ready to work. It took him (who was alone) 5 hours to remove all the old stuff and install the new. The price was exactly as quoted and what we had expected and we paid for the job with a credit card on his little machine. The job was done very well. The installer wore his mask the entire time. Our family has been using A-Authentic for a number of years now. Back when we first discovered them, they weren't even advertising on billboards yet and now they seem to be all over town. We have been in our home for well over 15/yrs and have fortunately only had to call upon them 3-4 times which speaks to the quality of their work. Last night we heard a loud crash and realized this morning that the spring and cables snapped on our door. Our experience has always been the same-- we call and get scheduled inside of 24/hrs, a friendly and professional technician shows up, they diagnose the problem, we discuss solutions, and within an hour or so they are gone. We've never had to call them back regarding a job and while I can't speak to their prices vs the competition, their customer service from beginning to end has always been second to none. Just got a quote. Got in a bad spot with my garage door. Needed help in a bad way. Their Techs solution, put some plywood up or leave it without a garage door until after the new year. I paid $1100 to get this door replaced because my wife ran into it in 2014. I get their is some inflation in 8 years but $2,500, and he tried to sell me another door so it would match. for real? One of the best parts is I could wait 20 weeks to get it with plywood or nothing. I could also pay him $500 to help me put the old panels back up as a place holder. Look, I called around frantic today so I 100% get right now garage door guys are living high on the hog apparently. Life is good for them with demand with all the builders and a shortage on the supply side. My advice, it won't always be like this fellas. People remember how they are treated. There was zero empathy and on top of it he kept telling me everything I would need to move out of his way to do the job. After the 3rd or 4th time listening to him complain about something else that would make his life challenging I finally just said hey bud I don't see this working out. Seems like this job is going to be more of a challenge than you would like. No joke he looks at me and keeps talking about what things will cost and than said he needed to go write up a quote. Maybe he has to provide a quote on every appointment or he gets in trouble. I can promise you this, there is no chance I would be sending that guy out representing my business to sell product. Zero personality, zero empathy, and absolutely no salesmanship. I just wanted him to leave after the first 10 min so I could start putting it back together myself. I don't like writing bad reviews, but I really thought who ever read these should know so that guy can get some kind of training. He can't be a reflection of everyone in their company, just isn't possible. What a terrible business. An aggressive person came to look at my garage door. They told me that they have a coupon for $75 off and it waives the service call of $65. But apparently it doesn't waive the fee if you use the coupon, so it is $10 off your highly inflated estimate. I looked up the parts they tried to sell me, they were charging double. For 2 garage door springs they wanted $450. When i asked their aggressive salesman to leave he refused. Only after I threatened to call the police for trespassing did he finally leave. I asked this company to give me an estimate for basic repairs to the garage door opener, the spring, and the door itself. The person who responded tried to convince me the garage door parts were no longer available (it is less than five years old and I confirmed on the manufacturer website that the parts are available...), and also tried to convince me I needed a new garage door and a new spring as well to go with a new garage door opener. Apparently, garage door service is as big of a scam in Phoenix as is AC service. Since I really, really, really hate it when people treat me like I am stupid, I'm going to make it my mission to spread the word about this company including with the BBB. I had a hunch I shouldn't trust a company that advertises so heavily in those coupon packet mailers. EDIT: I am now scrolling through the other reviews, apparently I am far from the only person seen as a wallet to be emptied. Had them replace the springs in our garage door at the end of December ($500+ dollars) and we've been having problems with it staying down. A authentic came back out and said we needed a new motor and quoted us $1,300. Had another company come out to give us a quote on the motor they said it would be $530 but not to waste our money because we didn't need one. They said the Springs were not balanced properly and were putting strain on the motor but the motor was still working properly. Called A authentic back to see if they would come out and fix the springs under the warranty. I was told "we canceled your warranty because it's the motor." When I told them another company said it's not the motor I was told your warranty has been canceled hire the other company to fix the springs. read more

A few years ago I had used this company and was happy with their service. Because of this I decided to use them again when my garage door was making a lot of noise and the master bedroom is above the garage so this is a big issue as I sometimes leave for work when my wife is still sleeping. I called and surprisingly they said they could send someone out that day. I explained that the garage door was very noisy and was looking to get a second spring as during the last service I had a spring replaced and felt that two springs would be better than one if not broke because I wasn't name to get my car out of the garage. They service tech that came out and I told him I wanted a second spring and see if he could quiet the door by replacing the rollers and lubricating the chain. I had they done years ago and it was effective. He came up with a quote, the first was for $900 and the second was for $1900. Both included a new motor. I said I wasn't interested in a motor as the current one works fine and we are planning on moving soon and I didn't want to spend that kind of money. He responded saying "but you said you wanted it quiet." I told him I had $500 to spend and asked him what he could do. He said he'd replace the current spring, as it was fatigued, add the second spring, replace the rollers, lube the chain and place a cross bar to keep the door from vibrating. It was under $600 and I agreed, but he kept insisting that I was making a mistake by not replacing the motor as he had it In the truck and could have everything done in an hour. The quote included one hour labor but it took nearly 80 minutes and he acted like he was doing me a favor by not charging for it taking longer. When he was done, the garage door was significantly quieter but he said again if I wanted it silent I'd need a new motor and if I changed my mind he could install it. When it came to paying for his work, he informed me that they don't take credit cards, only checks. They really need to tell their customers this before doing the work because had I actually decided to get a new motor, I wouldn't have had enough money in my checking account to pay for it. While my previous experience was good this experience was not, mainly because of the hard up-sell for unnecessary parts and the fact that the tech was rude. I won't be using them again. read more

The company will charge you for install, disposal, shop cost, for using a credit card to pay, angle iron if they need to remount. Updating my review because A-Authentic garage was able to come over and fix all the issues at no extra cost. We were treated properly this time and the door now no longer makes terrible noises. All in all, the costs quoted here will probably still be higher than other companies, so keep that in mind. Your door will get either a great or lousy fix depending on who they send over. I would give Billy Falkenthal a 5 star rating for how he handled the situation. I would suggest this company to train their technicians better to avoid this in the future. read more

A previous garage door company, failed to show up. I found A Authentic in the Foothills Focus. I called and asked them if they installed equipment purchased elsewhere, and they said they did. They were a little higher priced, but at this point, I wanted the thing installed. It was Saturday morning. The woman said someone would be out between 10a and 11a. At 9:30a, Geoffrey arrived. He couldn't have been nicer. Walked through all the steps. Took the old opener down. Installed the new one. Programmed the remotes and we were up and running in less than 90-minutes.
