I had a concern with this company and feel much better, now. My elderly aunt had her garage door replaced 8 years ago. And the springs were replaced 2 years ago. Last week, the door wouldn't close and it ended up that a bolt had come loose in the L-bracket that attaches the door to the opener. Her caregiver was pleading with the serviceman to wait until her family could arrive. The service person (DG), replaced 2 springs, 2 bearings and 10 rollers on a door that is still "like new" at a cost of $899.75. He came back 3 times adding more things to replace and he was told no to the last request when the initial service call was quoted at $65. I reached out to the company at the same time of writing my initial review, and Darryl the owner contacted me promptly to meet with me and review the door. As we looked at the door and springs, he showed me that the previous installer used undersized springs. While experimenting with the door, we found that there is an intermittent error with the opener, it seems that this is likely the issue which was being addressed. Darryl agreed to refund the cost of the bearings which were replaced and I chose to leave the new correctly sized springs. Every once in a while you get lucky.... really lucky. Yep, I am a "do it yourselfer" and I thought I could tighten up those springs. Of course I didn't notice that two guidelines were not installed properly from "another garage door company". So, as a "do it yourselfer", thinking I had learned a lot from YouTube.com, ripped open my arm as the springs sprung and I screwed the garage door up royally. Couldn't open it... close it... and as the industry says... got a "hung door". So that's where the luck came in. On a Sunday afternoon, A-Authentic Garage Door Service came out and I was even more lucky to get the professionalism of "Mike". He knew my problem, understood my problem and had my garage and my "skills" fixed in just about an hour. One of the WORST, WORST experience I've had with a company.. Called and spoke w/ Callie 1st thing I asked was "do you do free estimate..?" She said yes so went ahead and explain the issue and set the appt... When the service guy came thur said it's was going to be about 260, told him okay thanks let me think about it.. That's when he said there's a 65 service charge, and would get in trouble if he didn't collect the fee.. So pretty much was forced in a corner, so just got it done.. Service guy did knock off the cost, can't blame him he didn't take the call.. When talking to Callie she gave me BS excuse about this "service fee".. The service call was because neither remote control was working. This fixed, the technician suggested he install new nylon rollers to replace the metal ones, that these new ones would last much longer and the metal ones were wearing out. I wondered outloud whether this was the reason the operation of the door is always so loud (even when properly lubricated). The technician told me, yes, the door would be quieter after the new installation. $119.40 later the door sounds exactly the same. Pros: Technician showed up on time. Work was performed fast. Technician seemed to be very good at what he was doing. Cons: $65 service fee (waived if work performed) for just showing up. High prices for parts/work performed. The quote changed after work had started. The technician continually tried to up sell to a full garage opener mechanism replacement for over $2000. I would not recommend this company based on this experience. I don't believe that I needed all the parts replaced and that it was an up sell job that I settled on because I was still in shock over the $2000 price of the recommended replacement. Same as many of the other reviews. They do not disclose the $65 service call when setting up the appointment. That is problem number one. Then, upon arriving, they quoted $175 to replace the sensors. A brand new opener with current and more features is only $180. And the sensors are only $30 at any location! This is very unreasonable and after discussing it with them, they said I would owe the $65 regardless of it they fixed it or not. Really? What type of scam are you running! read more

Lots of lies. "Free Estimates" and "No Bait and Switch" were listed prominently on A-Athentic Garage Doors' website. When my garage door broke unexpectedly this morning, I called A-Athentic Garage Doors because of their high rating here on Google. When the technitian arrived, he looked at the damage and said we needed to change parts. He took photos and told me it'd be best to replace the whole door, but he could also likely fix the door. He gave me an estimate of $2,753 for replacing the door, including paint (285) and trim (200). This was all fine, until the technitian asked me to either buy the door now or put a $65 charge to hold his services... I needed time to consider these options and even if i would be getting the best deal. I told him this and he still charged me $65 despite the "free estimates" boasted on the website. I begrudgingly paid thinking it was an obligation at this point, but later found that not only does A-Athentic Garage Doors lie about it's "free estimates," but it also charges far more than other companies. The technitian even said it would cost $250 to get the garage shut until repair time. I called Smokey's Garage Doors and they had our door inspected, locked down, and scheduled for installation next week, no muss no fuss. DO NOT WORK WITH A-ATHENTIC, THEY WILL SCAM YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY. TL:DR: A-ATHENTIC GARAGE DOOR DOES NOT OFFER TRUE FREE ESTIMATES AND HIDES SURCHARGES THAT ARE NOT DISCLOSED. read more

Garage door spring broke after a week of beginning to see varying performance of garage door, hearing various noises etc.. when spring broke at 4:30 PM on Saturday afternoon I called A-Authentic garage door, they answered , took my information, dispatched a tech and he was at my house within 35 minutes. Hard to argue with that! My Tech Mike did great work and was fast. He suggested replacing the other spring that wasn't broken and that made sense so I authorized that (no additional labor; said it could be done within the hour I was already paying for). He then said he recommended replacing the 3 bearing plates. He said the bearing plates could be replaced within the hour of labor I was paying for and the parts (3 bearing plates) would be $174.95. I said "if you can show me there's wear in them then I'll consider it. He showed me what appeared to be wear so I reluctantly agreed because I thought it seemed expensive. While the work was being done I researched bearing plates and you can buy all 3 for less than $30 so they are selling these parts at a 600% mark up. I complained to the tech, he said he was surprised to see the proof I showed him on what they actually cost. When I settled up he marked them down to $150 (still a 500% mark up). I have no complaints about the Tech, he is doing his job and is likely paid to sell add-ons. I could see paying $60 or even $75 but $174.95 or $150 after I complained is ridiculous. Beware folks and negotiate the price of bearing plates. I knew I was paying much more for the springs that I needed than I could have bought them (about double) because I can't do the work. The mark up on the bearing plates is ridiculous. Had I been charged a reasonable price for the bearing plates, this review would have been a 5. Response time - great Quality of work - great Tech - great Price - ridiculously high for parts and that's what is disappointing. read more

I needed service because of broken spring and to replace older model garage door opener. Technician, Joe, was not up front regarding all parts that needed to be replaced before staring repairs. Nor did he inform me of extra charges as he was performing the repairs. Basically showed me the bill after completion, which was higher than discussed before starting work on my garage. I needed a new wall opener replaced, when tech arrived, within 2 minutes he was telling me of all the other repairs I needed, which came to over $2,000.00, the instant up selling was upsetting to me and I declined the suggestions. The real reason for this review, which I have never done one in my life was to tell everyone what I was charged, wall unit part was $189.95, on Amazon the part sells for $36.00. $49.50 for one remote and labor was $85.00 for 8 minutes work which I timed, total was $324.90. I realize a business has to make a profit but this was ridiculous and insulting, how sad it always has to be about the money, but charging 5 1/2 times the cost of one part alone really hurts a senior citizen's budget. read more

He also suggested additional service(s) like the garage door app for my iPhone which is pretty cool. All services were completed as promised and Chris returned days later as promised to program my wife's vehicle. Overall price was a bit more than competitors but response was better. I had these guys come out just a few days ago because my garage door was not closing. I can always open it but it almost never closed Especially if the sun was up, not just if the sun was shining on the sensors but even if just the sun was up, my garage door would not close. I've had three other companies come out over the last few years and all they did was try to sell me a new garage door opener they never did fix it. These guys came out had it fixed in under 20 minutes, I waited a few days to write this review because I want to make sure it keeps working, and it does. I was just charged $150 for getting the car pulled out and giving a quote. They mentioned that I have to spend $2200 to replace entire garage door. It can't be repaired at all. Whereas two other companies quoted $250 to repair and gave a free quote. As other reviewers have mentioned, this looks like a scam. I called at 2:15 on a Sunday afternoon, was told a tech would be here between 4 and 6, and Jason was here before 4 PM. He could see right away that our issue was a broken Torsion Spring, just as we had told the scheduler. He was honest with me up front about the possible costs, we have an older unit and setup, and promised to let me know if he ran in to any issues. Jason had everything he needed on his truck and got right to work. In less than an hour he was finished. Two new springs, a bearing, and $440 later, my garage door was working again. He had some other suggested repairs which we will be doing in the coming months. I really appreciate the courtesy and professionalism Jason showed, respect goes a very long way in my book. I also really appreciate that my card was charged right away so I didn't have to wait to account for the expense. It is nice to be able to get these kinds of home repairs done on our days off and not have to adjust our schedules! Our garage door broke 1 spring, so I called A-Authentic Garage Door Service. The lady told me that it would be 90.00 a hour and 129.00 for for the spring and they would wave the 65.00 service charge. I asked can I pay with credit card and the lady said, yes but we charge a 3% fee. I was okay let's make a appointment. The young man came (very nice) he looked at it and said, we don't just fix one side , we have to fix both sides. I said, I told the girl that only one side needed fix. He said, he understood but he was told he always has to fix both. I was okay what's this going to cost? He said, 95.00 a hour and springs at 169.95 each. I said, okay fix it. Then as he was fixing it he told me I need a Steel Center Bearing. Okay fix it!! Then he was done. 519.99, I looked at the bill and they changed me 3% to use my Debit Card! What??? The manager tried to tell me a credit card and a debit card are the same. No there not!! She wanted CASH or Check!! Who charges 3% for debit card??? Don't ever use this company ever!! The girl that answered the phone only told me that it would be a 3% Credit Card, not a Debit Card!! My next step is turning them into BBB. Please don't use them!!! read more
