Now I knowwwww I can make this at home but I was craving it and uber eats was calling my name but mannnnn never ordering delivery again. !!! $29 dollars later... a pint of Thom kha soup with chicken $17 and side rice noodle $5 ... with service fee. Delivery fee. Minimal tip. Whatttt?! I also asked for level 3 or if 5 spice. I think? I figured it would make it spicy. It was not. So I added sriracha - what I had at the office. It's a pint of thick sweet coconut soup. Minimal lil peppers n basil and chicken slices added. And a side of rice noodle I added in. When did inflation make it $30 it was good. Had a reservation for 1PM on Saturday. It was very busy inside. Service is slow because there was only one server. Everything was lukewarm warm and did not come out hot. I liked the flavor of the khao soi, but did not like that it was pulled chicken. Would have preferred a traditional chicken drum stick. The crispy chives were not crispy at all. The crispy stir fried pork belly was good. Drunken noodles were not flavorful enough, just spicy. Very instagram-able inside with the decor. read more

Grabbed takeout from Grandmas Thai tonight. Restaurant was super cute inside, would be a great cozy date spot. Picking up was super easy too. While we enjoyed the Khao Soi, the drunken noodle was just okay. Would skip the sautéed veggies, this is pretty bit or miss anywhere but wasn't my favorite. I think I have other places I prefer. My daughter and I came here on a whim. We were seated promptly without reservations. Surprisingly, it was packed due to restaurant week in Philly. U-T was our server and she was exceptional. Josh, another server, also helped us as well. Service was a little slow, but given the circumstances of every table being filled, that was perfectly fine. Everything we've had was delicious. My husband made reservations for us to eat here for Valentine's Day and I was so excited because Grandmas has been on my list to try! I am so glad he made reservations because it was packed! We got seated and the hostess mentioned that since it's Valentine's Day we had an hour and 15 minute limit to eat. Which for us was fine because we wanted to eat and get home. It was super cramped where they sat us. You can see that every space in that restaurant was used. I wasn't a fan of the seating due to just feeling super close to the other couples. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai and my husband ordered the beef Kra Prow and both were AMAZING! The Kra Prow was delicious and flavorful. The Pad Thai was too good! Tasty dishes with tons of flavor, but service is definitely slow! My friends and I had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Sunday. We checked in on time and were only seated by 8pm. Our server was friendly and efficient, but our dishes all came out at random times which wasn't ideal. To drink, I ordered the Thai-Teani, which was perfectly tart and sweet! For apps we had the Veggie Spring Rolls and the Chive Cakes. Both were delicious! I highly recommend the chive cakes -- super crispy and chewy with a spicy, savory sauce. For my main I ordered the Khao Soi, which was so incredibly flavorful and perfectly spiced! If you're in between a noodle or curry dish, this is the one for you! My family and I were looking for a spot to have lunch after spending a few hours at F1 arcade. I found Grandma's on Google and it had great reviews so we took our chances and walked in. I love food served tapas style. I find myself eating less because I know it's being shared with everyone. Our server was Vlad. He didn't check on us much, but was a nice man. Not only was he waiting on several tables, but he was greeting customers at the front and answering phone calls. I understand he may have been busy. We started with the veggie spring rolls. They were crunchy and the edamame was prominent. I liked the dipping sauce they came with. My favorite dish in terms of shared plates was the Pad Thai. It was flavorful. The drunken noodles were a bit too spicy for me and the stir fried eggplant was somewhat bland. Lots of veggies mixed in. I am stoked to provide an update and am so glad I gave Grandmas another try. The menu has been revamped both in the form of items but also the menu book itself. The menu is literally a stocky book. It illustrates if something has an allergen which was a concern with my last visit. The service was really good as well, the server was easy to flag and was super sweet. We got a table for six around lunchtime on a Sunday relatively quickly, we had to wait roughly 15 minutes. Crab rangoons - you get 5 for $15 which may seem like a lot but these are the best crab rangoons I have ever had, they use fresh crab, none of the imitation stuff Rad-na mhee krob , pad thai, pad kee mao drunken noodles and pad si ew were all excellent options with generous portions! Grandma's Philly's spice level 1-5 doesn't just bring the heat, it brings the flavor. I liked how they had a QR code to pay via Apple Pay. read more

Nice Thai restaurant on Walnut and 13th Street. We made the reservation and were seated right away. The inside decoration is pretty nice and spacy. We are no Thai food experts, but the menu contains a pretty good variety of foods. We ordered the papaya salad (spicy level 2, refreshing and delicious); Fried Calamari (standard fare), meat balls (OK, nothing too special) and Chicken Wings with Saratha sauce (crispy and tasty). For main dishes, we had the curry noodle and Thai basil with shrimp; both are well flavored. One small complaint is none of their phone numbers work; one keeps on bring us to the voice mail and then said mail box is full; the other is AI and can't do anything and just redirect us to the voice mail number. read more

Came here on a Thursday night and luckily we didn't need to wait to get seated. I think we got lucky because on our way out we saw there was a line. We ordered three main dishes, the crabmeat fried rice, the khao soi and the ratchada duck. Our favorite dish was the fried rice. There was plenty of crab meat and the sauce added a nice tang to the dish. The khao soi was probably our least favorite - there was not a lot of noodles and lots of wontons that became soggy. The broth was also on the thicker side and was not like the consistencies we were accustomed to. Duck was great, was nice and crispy with plenty of meat and veggies. Our server was great and very nice. Atmosphere was ok. I think it would be nice to have aesthetic that pairs well with the food. For example, more decor or furniture that plays homage to Thailand. I ordered thai pork dumpling and was expecting those steamed blue flower shaped dumplings but they brought out these fried meatballs, and I confirmed with the waiter that this was indeed thai pork dumpling. This is my least favorite dish too, flavor is just off and also a little spicy. The chicken satay is not very moist and the dipping sauce doesn't have enough peanut flavor imo. This place is popping when we walked in. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this is not it. We were welcomed with EDM music and Bruce Willis trying to save the world in Armageddon (screened on the wall). It was sensory galore lol. Family enjoyed it though, nonetheless. Food here is absolutely flavor forward. If you are adventurous and not shy from exotic flavors, this place is up your alley. Since we had a big group, it was nice to order and share via family style. Our server really pulled through and helped us navigate several request which is always welcomed. We had a few picky eaters but managed everyone's request. Space is a bit tight but it's expected with larger groups. They have booths and smaller tables. I would recommend this place for groups of 6 or less to get comfortable seatings. They did accommodate our group of 14 which was amazing on a Friday night. Big lover of Thai food so I anted to check this place out. Inside is quaint and very cute with lighting, decor, and flowers on every table which I always appreciate. Our server was very pleasant and high energy. We made an early 5:15 Saturday dinner reservation and good thing we did because the place ended up being pretty packed starting around 5:45. I like the menu and there's a fun list of cocktails as well. I highly recommend the Hot Grandma if you like a spicy tequila beverage. I ordered the Tom Yum soup with tofu, the pad si ew with tofu and my partner ordered the drunken noodle with pork. The soup was phenomenal. Probably could have ordered it a higher spice level. Both of our noodle dishes were delicious and very filling for the portion, just enough for the both of us. Again I could have ordered the spice level for my dish a little higher, as I did 3 for mine. My only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is because after the food came, our server never came back to check in or see if we needed another drink. I also don't blame her because right as we were eating about 5 other tables were seated so again it was a hectic dinner rush. Really looking forward to coming back again. read more

The food was awesome, but the menu was a bit confusing on portion size, so it was very easy to over order. Be careful with the drink menu, they don't include the fees for the liquor, so my drink was listed as $16 and it came out to $21.45 on the bill, which was almost the same price as my entree and I never would have ordered that. The drink was watery and small so not worth $21.45. So I would just avoid that part and stick to a glass of wine. The food was delicious and I would be back for that!! one of many thai restaurants less than 5 minutes away from each other in center city. grandmas is dimly lit with modern decor, and the food is solid. my friend and i came pivoted here for lunch by chance when miss saigon was closed. we shared the crispy chive, i had the tom yum noodles, and she had the drunken noodles. i really enjoyed the crispy chive, it's one of my favorite thai appetizers, and grandmas didn't disappoint. it was crisp and the perfect amount of unami. the tom yum noodles were good, but not as soup-y as i personally would've liked -- it was more of a curry consistency. there were a lot of noodles though, and i had leftovers for another meal. overall, we had a good lunch. the food is decent though not cheap. the area is challenging since there are so many other great restaurants nearby, including other thai restaurants. service was fast, though our mains came out at different times which felt like poor planning and created a little bit of an awkward wait. i'm not in a rush to come back. read more

It felt more like a club to me, with ambient lighting, modern decor, Armageddon projected on the wall, and EDM playing in the background. Now, the food was really good! Our family of 14 ordered plenty of dishes that there was enough leftover for a delicious breakfast, which we enjoyed much more than our hotel offerings (we were tourists, btw). The highlights for me were the khao soi, crispy pork fried rice, and pad see ew. I did not interact directly with the servers, but heard no complaints from the family. I didn't think this was a Thai place when I looked up the name. It's small plates and shareable plates. We had the drunken noodles, curry puffs, Northern Thai sausage and spring rolls. Everything was delicious and really enjoyed the curry puffs. The ambiance is good and the service was good until our waiter left for your day. This spot was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I went! I had their pad see ew, tom yum, chicken satay and papaya salad. My favorite was definitely the papaya salad and the roti that came with the satay. These were so flavorful and i definitely left full and satisfied. We sat at the bar which hosts ~8 seats and had a nice bartender who served our drinks quickly and had lots of great menu recommendations. We had the Calamari and Curry Puff appetizers. Both were really good and the Curry Puffs were the standout winner for me - Calamari was my friends fav. The Curry Puffs were packed with so much flavor, super flaky exterior and so fragrant. They were served with quick pickled veg / peppers and definitely a 'if i was stranded on a desert island' food pick. Grandma's is about as good as most basic Thai restaurants get, but the main issue is inconsistency. The desserts were all pretty blah -- we had both the mango sticky rice and the fried ice cream and regretted even bothering with them. The tom kha was really good, but it lacked any real flavor from kaffir lime and lemongrass, which marred it. We ordered the pork belly at spice level 4 (out of 5), but it had barely any kick. That said, some of the other dishes were exceptionally good, especially the curry noodles and the Ratchada duck. Incredible food, but shockingly poor service from Vladimir. I wanted to love everything about Grandma's Philly -- and to be fair, the food is absolutely incredible. Every dish was full of rich, authentic flavor and the dining area is beautiful. Unfortunately, the experience was soured by the service. The server was consistently rude, dismissive, and short with us throughout the meal. When we asked questions, he stared at us without responding or gave curt replies that felt unnecessarily hostile & passive aggressive. He made a huge fuss about splitting the check after we politely asked, and spoke to us in a tone that made the entire table uncomfortable. There was no warmth or kindness -- just an attitude that made us feel unwelcome. I genuinely hope this is addressed, because the food deserves better representation.
