The very next day 8/25/26, while driving on the 45 toll with my three young children, the differential started smoking and grinding. We had to pull off the road immediately in a dangerous situation. Classic signs they drained the fluid and forgot to refill it. When I called, they initially took ownership. The manager even drove out, added oil, and took it back to the shop. But once there, his story completely changed. He admitted the differential was destroyed but claimed it was a "pure coincidence" after reviewing their tapes. They destroyed my car, admitted to the damage, and then lied to escape liability leaving me with thousands of dollars in repairs. This store and manager have no honor or integrity. Avoid this place at all costs.

They are very honest about what is or is not needed (spoiler: something your other mechanic told you might not be necessary yet or needed at all). Example: my other place told me that I needed to get rotors replaced (over $1000). This place told me that (1) I could wait until my next oil change in 6000 miles, (2) that they have a machine to resurface rotors instead of replacing them entirely, (3) that it would only cost me about one-third what the other place quoted. They are highly knowledgeable and they are also really good at finding deals. I referred a friend here who needed a part replacing and they called up different car yards to find the part to save her money (of course you can always get the more expensive versions of things too if you want). My friend just really appreciated that they were trying to help her save money. So yeah five out of five. I drive an hour out of my way just to come to these guys here.

Once jumped, it was good for the rest of the day. I would have thought bad battery but the battery was six month's old and had been working perfectly until a week prior. So, I get it started and go see the nice guys at my neighborhood AutoZone (University, in RR). They kindly ran their diagnostic module on my car and it pronounced the battery good and that my charging current failed. They pronounced it 'bad alternator' and I accepted their diagnosis and began looking for a mobile mechanic to replace the alternator. Anyway, after numerous nebulous texts to a litany of mobile mechanics and unable to nail one down on either time/price or both, I contacted Tony at MnM. I dropped the car off and within an hour he called me and said my alternator's fine but your battery's cracked. So, picked up the battery and swapped it out at Costco and took the new one back to MnM and shortly they had me up and running. Paid them a pittance for the diagnostic and battery R&R and went on my way. The headline here is; Honest Mechanic found in Georgetown!. They're my guys now.

I got my car back 9 weeks later. Two weeks after they fried my car, I found out my car was at Kwik Kar in Dripping Springs. RR didn't tell me that. I got a call from a manager in Dripping Springs who said he needed to replace another part. So the DS Kwik Kar kept replacing parts but still couldn't fix the car, and then suddenly that manager didn't work there anymore. The new manager took my car to a totally different shop in Dripping Springs. They didn't tell me about that either. I only knew where my car was because I had an air tag in it. The other company (not Kwik Kar) finally fixed my car, and the manager at RR Kwik Kar drove it back to RR. Oh, and he used the toll road but didn't compensate me for the toll (or even tell me he did it). And now, Kwik Kar RR and DS say they don't have any documentation of the work that was done in their shops. That includes a battery, a computer, a throttle sensor, an AC compressor sensor, and fuses--those are the parts I know of that Kwik Kar replaced but can't provide documentation of . What are they trying to hide? The managers at these two Kwik Kar locations are incompetent, unprofessional, uncaring a-holes. They don't know how to change a battery. They don't know how to communicate while they attempt to fix their mistakes. They don't know how to take responsibility. Nobody owned up to making a mistake. Nobody apologized for screwing up my car or messing up my life for two months. And they act like it's not their problem when you still need them to follow up. Keep your car far away from here.

But this was fluid service, (the nasty stuff) trans fluid flush and fill, brake fluid flush, rear differential drain and fill, + my AC wasn't cooling as well. I did my homework and gathered about 5 estimates for this service from local shops and Toyota dealerships. Prices were coming in anywhere from $1000 - $1500. I stopped in at Christian Brothers in Leander on Sonny Drive and spoke to Brandon. He text me a written quote, which came out about half of what the other shops were asking. They also give a "Veterans/First responders" discount. Their work was professional, and they communicated with me all the time. They sent a video of a free service inspection of my truck, pointing out any areas of concern. I think I've found my back up mechanic for anything I can't do or just don't want to. Showed him the app that had my policy. He was kind enough to escort me to their waiting area. Another gentleman came in to collect my contact information and discuss different aspects of my car due to its age/mileage. Great and comfortable conversation. A 3rd gentleman came in the office to let me know my car was completed and collected payment. Was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Talk about service! To be fair, they do quality repair work, diagnose problems accurately, and their customer service is excellent. I give them full credit for that. However, in my experience, their prices are extremely high. Once everything is added up, you can often find another mechanic or repair shop that offers the same quality work for a much more reasonable price. Their labor rate is around $189 per service, so if you need brake pads and a battery replaced, you could easily end up paying $300+ in labor alone, plus the cost of parts. Recently, I was charged nearly $1,000 just to replace the brake pads on my SUV. Meanwhile, a friend of mine recently had both brake pads and rotors replaced elsewhere for a little over $200. My advice is to protect your hard-earned money and compare prices before committing to repairs. There are many honest mechanics and repair shops that provide great service and quality work at fair prices. In my opinion, Christian Brothers presents itself very well, but their pricing can feel excessive and disappointing.
