I was from out of state and pulled into Centralia to pick up our new puppy. I noticed the car was getting hot and pulled over to discover a coolant leak from one of the hoses. Called on one shop who did not answer and then called Auto Care Center. I explained our situation and was told they would look at it and although busy if simple they would fix it. The heater hose was diagnosed, a new part ordered and when cool was fixed. It only took a bit over two hours and the cost was very fair. Before moving away Jorge was my go-to guy. Always fair, always patient with all the crazy things I brought my car in for, and I always left with a car that drove like new, no matter what I had done. I've been in Virginia for five years and came back home while laid off for covid-19. I just took my car in to him for brakes/rotars (happy to see he's still there!) and not only did he get everything taken care of quickly and for a fair price, but like always I drove off feeling like I was in a new car. We chose Auto Care because of the reviews we read here, since we were new in town and financially pressed. We were not let down; between our two vehicles, we have had to come here three times and each time, Jorge has suprised us. The first time, he suprised us because we brought him a vehicle that intermittenly wouldn't start and he could have told us it was any number of expensive fixes. Despite the fact that we were obviously clueless and that we were new in town, he was honest and explained the things that were optional down the line and what was necessary right now and ultimately, charged us a small fee for his diagnostic work. The second and third time we had car troubles, we had a car that we basically had to push into the parking lot. Each time, we left surprised that he was able to determine with confidence what the seemingly nebulous issue was and that he handed us such incredibly reasonable bills. This is a rare case of a talented mechanic who clearly isn't driven by ego or greed. I've lived in many other places and have needed mechanics many times in my life; this is the first time that I actually TRUST a mechanic--I no longer have a panic attack wondering if I will be able to afford the suprise bill I'm handed and I don't question whether he is doing the right thing. I figure the best way to thank Jorge, his wife, and his employees is to post this review, though I'm not sure if they really need business; word of mouth seems to keep them quite busy as is! I was delivering an expensive painting to Orcas Island from Gold Beach Oregon, attempting to beat an oncoming storm. (The oversize painting was crated up for inclement weather but I was still apprehensive, it being in the bed of the truck.) About 5 miles south of Centralia I started hearing an ominous noise coming from the left front wheel area. It slowly worsened and I got off the highway, looking for a place to inspect the tire, which was a spare in excellent shape on a rusty rim (yep...). Couldn't find a problem with the tire, so limped about looking for an auto repair shop. Found this facility and pulled in. It was 430 pm or so and they were clearly closing up for the evening, but the lady at the desk still called out a mechanic (who turned out to be the owner, Mr. Matuzima) and he came out to look at it. He was more than willing to get it up on a lift and at least take a quick look at it, and disappeared back inside to re open the shop. Note that it didn't look like they were hurting for business so I considered that a kindness. While he was inside I checked the lug nuts on a whim... They were loose! When he came back out, I showed that to him and explained that the spare had only been on the truck for a day or two (I did have an additional temporary spare in the bed of the truck. It had turned out to be the perfect size, along with some milk crates, to hold the crated up painting - I figured I'd switch everything out once I got back from the 1200 mile round trip. This was all due to the fact that that tire had been recently punctured at the dump through the side wall when only a few months old and I had ordered a replacement that had not arrived yet, and I wasn't going to buy two new tires to replace the fronts as the other one was also still new.) Anyway, he tightened everything back up with a torque wrench and checked the tire pressure on all 4 tires. Then he sent me off without charging me and only reluctantly accepted the $20 I offered. Granted, I was only there for a few minutes all in all, but I'd have happily given him $50 if he'd asked. The simple fact that they were willing to help me at all was a Godsend. I drove away thinking, "well, I've got a great mechanic back home if Gold Beach, but if I ever move to Centralia, at least I'll have auto/truck care covered. read more

I have been going here for many years. It takes time to build trust for auto mechanics in general. But I don't even think twice about dropping my car off here. Jorge and his gang take care of your problems. And I never once, had that funny feeling they were misleading or milking me for everything I have. Mechanics are expensive. And the last thing I need is paying for stuff that might break. Although they are honest about other issues you may have. They fix what needs to get fixed.
