I stopped by this small auto shop because my CD/RADIO ceased to play and to me thats a fate worst than death..LOL..So a kind man named Bill Hart, the manager, offered to check it out for me.He discoved one of the fuses had popped out .That was a miracle to me because I had visions of having to pay 2 or 3 hundred for a new one..Bill wouldnt accept any money, however he embraced the hugs I kept giving him..Also, he did ask for a good review and my son said he would do for me. I will be needing an oil change soon and thats where I will be going...I hope alot of people will go to AUTO CARE PLUS and meet BILL because he has a good HEART for people..Thanks again.. I took my vehicle here for an inspection sticker only because it was more convenient than my regular mechanic. They "failed" my vehicle while giving me an estimate of over $3700 of repairs it would need before it could pass inspection. I ended up taking it to my regular mechanic instead and he told me I didn't need any of the repairs they listed and passed my vehicle. They wanted to charge me for $3700 of repairs I didn't need. read more

I no longer trust this shop, and haven't been for many years. I am writing this review because I continue to receive mailers from them monthly, despite me asking them to stop they have ignored me. I think they look for problems and any chance to pad the bill. Last time I actually went there, I did not trust their diagnosis and the trust was broken. Going to another shop I felt they were much more honest and straightforward, and affordable. I actually get mild anxiety when I get their monthly harassing mailer. I feel their mailer, their slogan, pics of their owners, their clever LED sign is all a carefully calculated ruse to get you to lower your guard so they can prey upon you, in my opinion. Most of my neighbors feel the same, we try them and never use them again. That is why they have to advertise so much in my opinion, if they were honest and kept customers happy they would have no problem with work and would not have to look for the next mark to prey upon. Again I want nothing to do with this business but they keep sending me mailers so here I am writing a review. read more

I swear- if you just drive by the place, you somehow end up on their 'extra special preferred customer list' complete with emails, texts, mailings and those lovely 'complimentary' service coupons that you can use towards $800 brake jobs. Seriously, I moved to Bedford NH back in 2006. Their Merrimack location is within a mile from my residence so I would take my car to AutoCare Plus for service. Well- they were great, back in 2006 that is. I would drop my car off to get serviced, they would give me a ride back to my place, then pick me up when the car was ready. They always informed me up front of what the cost would be and would keep me in the loop if they ran into something that wasn't discussed. It was rare that type of situation would come up but the extra charges were always reasonable. I'm mechanically inclined and knowledgable in most areas of car maintenance and general repairs so whatever I was quoted- seemed reasonable given the fact they are in business to make money-- fair enough. So along came 2014 or maybe it was even 2015 when I noticed a difference. First off, I didn't recognize any of the mechanics that were there prior. I figured maybe they opened another AutoCare Plus and those guys are getting the new place 'off the ground'. This was right around the time I noticed a pink tool box in the place- so yes, we at AutoCare plus hire female mechanics- no problem, "I am woman, hear me roar" - turns out, she was probably the best mechanic in the place because after getting a bill for over $800 for front brakes; in 2015 - and I wasn't advised of the charge- that was it for me. I questioned the bill and asked why I wasn't informed - the new office girl didn't have an answer as she wasn't 'handling' the dialog. I left it alone- paid the bill. The brakes worked but I told myself- NO MORE. Either find another place or find the time to do this stuff yourself. This was back in 2015. I recently had a ball joint give out on me @70MPH. I had the car towed to AutoCarePlus for evaluation. There was a new crew there, well, at least, new to me because I haven been there for over 8 years. The guy at the desk was fine. He told me he'd have someone look it over and give me an estimate. He explained that there would be a $130 charge for the estimate. I was okay with that because its time consuming to price everything out and $130 seemed reasonable. I got a call the next day- the gentlemen on the phone said he couldn't take the car into the shop because he would need a flat bed as the front passenger wheel assembly was torn off. He told me from looking at it it will be between $4000 - $5000 to fix the damage. Be mindful, there was no body damage- just an axle, strut and ball joint as well as wheel and tire. I told him I wasn't prepared to spend $4000+ on a 2003 vehicle and I would make other arrangements. Truth be told, AutoCare Plus DID allow me to leave the car in their lot while I figured out 'plan B'. The car was there for 6 days and they didn't charge me anything which I was grateful for. I ended up having the car towed to my garage. I fixed everything for $1214- INCLUDING towing. Had I been quoted around $1700 maybe even $2000- I would have signed off on the repair. These people- way too expensive. I've never had an issue with the quality of their work but NO WAY am I paying for the 'privilege' of being on their 'Preferred Customer' marketing list. read more

What's the point of a reservation if they hold your car for two days and not even letting you known it's going to take that long! dropped car off on Wednesday at 10am it's now Friday 1:00pm. had car on lift since Wednesday night 430pm. all to change a ball baring. Beyond frustrated. IF you decide to go thrrr ask how long service will be and when you'll get car back. they just want your business so they have you make a " reservation" but it means noting. never going back read more

Be careful and get a second opinion. They took my car for a road test (which I approved) and came back explaining that my car vibrates when breaking (not the issue i approved the road test for). I agreed but didn't think it was a big deal. It was explained that I had warped rear rotors and siezing calipers. I reluctantly agreed to the $1300 repair (which is aggressively overpriced I have learned) as they told me the calipers may start a fire. After the repair I got the car back and the vibration remained. Nothing had changed after the $1300 bill. I called to express my concerns which is when they told me that "we only recommended you start with the rear brakes" rather than admit got it wrong. I was then transferred to a gentleman named mark who again road tested my car and said now it was my front rotors that are the problem...only admitting so after I was adamant that they wrongly had me replace the rear. I asked them to make it right due to either a misdiagnosis and/or being sold rear brakes that I didn't need. He came back asking me to pay his "cost" of $175 to now replace the front rotors. Everyone beware if they tell you about a brake issue. You owe it to yourself to get a 2nd opinion. And if they quote you front rotors...just know that his "cost" is $175 just in case they quote you another $1300. They are under new management and unfortunately it feels like customer service is not the priority. I left unsatisfied, with no improvements to my car, and $1300 less in my bank account. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality I had a great experience which I wanted people to know so posting here . I had a check engine light on . Was worried considering these issues gets very tricky and expensive . When I went back to pick my vehicle , they did not charge me anything as they had worked few months back for related issue . I really liked the utmost honesty and being proud of their workmanship . I am sure this attitude is going to take them to greater heights of success . I went to this business in hopes of being treated fairly and honestly, but they really pulled one on me. I have no experience or education when it comes to cars so I have a lot of anxiousness when it comes to getting repairs done, or even just to get a diagnoses of the problem. I spoke to John L. and he was very willing to get me started on diagnosing my car issue. He did not inform me about a price before taking my car in, and of course I wasn't expecting it to be free, but it is totally unfair not to mention something like that upfront. I was there for about an hour, and when John told me what was going on with my car, he did so in a very business oriented way without explaining the best way to go about it or specific details to help me understand more. He spent about three minutes going over that and let me know it was going to cost around $600... for an hour job. I then departed letting them know I would get back to them. Feeling a certain amount of distrust already, I called a family member who knows more about cars than I do, and they got it done for me at around half the price, and found out that what had been diagnosed on my car was only half true. I never ever write reviews because sucks to suck, but this was just so degrading and unfortunate because I was so looking forward to a place that I could trust for all my car repairs in the future and they really led me astray... I'm sure they have quality mechanics and have obviously been successful as a business and kudos to them for that, but I would always get a second opinion if you are feeling any uncertainness or feel like you are being taken advantage of. I recently moved back to Merrimack when the used car I had just bought started having issues. I was recommended to go to Auto Care Plus and they have been amazing. Because the issue was unclear, they were very honest about the possible price and it ended up being just half of that. They went above and beyond helping me get home because I'm a single mom dragging my daughter around for this and I didn't have rides. They delivered my car to me the next day. Who does that? I am very impressed by the super friendly service and honesty. I hope my car won't have issues but if it does, I will be back. read more

A bit concerned. We inherited a vehicle that my 89 year old mother in law had. She has always been meticulous about keep records. Thousands and thousands of dollars to this establishment, and continually. Not sure if they are truly a reputable place. Car works, however a whole new exhaust system, new (fill in the blank).... idk seems like they have tsken advantage of elderly people. read more

I've primarily gone to dealerships to have work done on cars but my friend suggested I give Auto Care Plus a try. I needed to have my engine light checked, brakes replaced and an oil change done. I worked with Lew at the shop and couldn't have been more pleased! He called me the same day I dropped it off to let me know what the issues were, give me the cost of everything and ask how I would like to go forward. We went ahead with the repair and due to the better than dealership pricing, professionalism and friendly service we received, will be going there for now on! read more

I have had two cars serviced by them, a Honda Civic and a Mini Cooper. I had new tires installed on my Honda Civic back in 2009. The tires were a great price, wore slowly, but were really loud and provided a stiff ride. It was my first experience changing tires so I didn't know what to ask. Overall though, the service was good and the customer service was great. I had tires replaced on my Mini Cooper. I worked with the employee to find a tire that met my requirements - good in the snow, decent price, but provided a smooth ride. He was patient, friendly, advice and wasn't pushy. Its been a few months now and the tires are excellent. I'm very happy with my service. read more

While they weren't able to find anything wrong with the car, they did confirm that everything was safe to drive and gave me advice on what steps to take next. With my findings brakes were not seized and there was a leak by the exhaust hanger were the cat is. Still doesn't justify 2000+ bogus quote. Unless you guys charge 500$ an hour for shop time. That's worse than a dealership. If you had given a fair quote at first I'm sure we could have worked something out but with material alone being under a grand how do you justify for a max 4 hours of shop time to be 2k+. I'm all for supporting locals and I understand people need to make money but being taken advantage of because someone doesn't know isn't fair. Vehicle service here on Saturday, appointment was for 9 a.m., vehicle was done at 4:30 p.m. Was given a loaner vehicle for the day so the wait wasn't so bad. My issue is with pricing on repairs, was hit with a whopping $646.10 bill on maintenance service. The actual dealership quote on vehicle was $449 total. Asked very helpful service advisor why the cost was higher than the dealership and was told that a rear differential service was done without my permission. I asked why and she said it is scheduled for at 20000 miles on their maintenance schedule. Funny how I have 2 owners manual on vehicle and there is no maintenance schedule at all. Acura does not print maintenance schedules on our vehicle, it solely goes by what car computer says needs to be done. I called Sunnyside Acura and inquired if my vehicle needed the rear diff done and they said no unless my vehicle's computer requires it and it didn't. Inquired with service advice why it was done and they called acura and it was not needed. They were quick in reversing the charge for it. Even with the reversal of charges, the bill came out to be $511.83 versus the dealership of $449. Inquired why it was so much higher than the dealership and was quoted that they have a 5 year warranty on my services done even though it is on maintenance items that need to be done a year from now (acuras warranty is for a year). Thankfully I had coupons that dropped the fee $95. Overall was not a very pleasant experience, even though service advisor was very helpful. Will never again use this company and will take my vehicle to the dealership where I can get a new loaner vehicle, service done in 1 hour and save $72 in the process with vehicle washed and vacuumed. read more

I have had my Honda Accord serviced here twice now. Each time my car was taken on time, and all services were done fast (I waited there) and at the price quoted. The staff is friendly and very thorough. Autocare Plus is so much more convenient and infinitely more pleasant than going to a dealership for service. read more

Was not pleased with the lack of service for diagnosing my vehicle and complete disrespect because of being a woman and having knowledge towards cars. Trying to charge the same price and almost double as a dealership is ridiculous.. get the mechanics and techs some schooling and certifications so they can at least have answers to customers questions and not answer with comments such as "I don't know I used to work on dodges" or "they probably didn't replace it right last time" or my favorite "oh I don't know they didn't check for that"... seriously... read more

**********RUN********** this place is horrendous. I paid over $2000 for work to be done only to to be given more problems. I realized when I picked up my car I had an ice coffee thrown in my backseat along with finding my sunglasses had been broken. Upon talking to the manager about this he gave me his sincerest of apologies which I accepted, only to find that my windshield had also been broken during the repairs. not only that but within less then 24 hours of getting my car there was a new issue with the brake lights. it was like a bad dream. they agreed to fix the window and did... kinda... they neglected to preserve my inspection sticker now I need a new one. I've been by 3 times to try and get one. the last time I tried to get my sticker the manager took my vehicle around the back of the building to "work" on it.. he comes back to show my that my check engine light is now on and I'll have to return another time.I went down the road to another shop and got my sticker right away and they told me my new windshield was not installed properly. HAHAHAHA. I tried a new shop and I suggest you do the same. read more

I purchased a car from them - as a consignment. Very nice car, great price, but with some known (and at the time, unknown...) issues. They were upfront about everything, and knew the history of the car. They stated it had new brakes all around. (they were operating on what the owner had stated and were selling the car "as-is") When I went to get it inspected, I was told the brakes in the back were completely shot. When I called Auto Care Plus about it, they asked me to bring the car in. They replaced the brakes for free and apologized for the error. The entire thing was easy to take care of. Sure, I would have like to not have the inconvenience of having to bring it back, but I couldn't ask for more respectful, thoughtful people to work with when a matter came up like this. I can't give a 5 star review (well, because the brakes failed) but I think they deserve a tip of the cap for coming through and doing the right thing. read more

Went to get a smog test that i had an appointment for. It took 3 hours just to get it on the lift. They qouted me itd be 65$ but then said all they had to do is reconnect a hose and charged me another hour of labor just for that even though the whole process of the test took 20 minutes. 135$ later i still fail my emissions even though they said id pass. read more

I moved to NH for first time and was sharing an '09 Murano with my fincee in 9/2014. Within a few days I decided to do her yearly inspection at auto care plus simply because I enjoyed their clever neon sign, and I was unaware yearly inspections are not a fixed price as in my home state and it could be done much cheaper. Jayson and Kevin were friendly, quick, and although I didn't like at all that the inspector road tested the car (I want to be asked before anyone drives my car, but i assumed it was a NH law, have found since it is not.) I was hugely surprised when the Murano failed due to an expensive exhaust leak. Kevin took me out to the service bay to show the issue, and then proceeded to enter calls and work to save me money. His skill and knowledge of an obscure old VW part saved the day and I was thrilled with the staff and bill of just $150. An honest mechanic is one of the hardest things to find in a new home, and I thought I had really lucked out. Our car didnt need much work except oil changes and a tire rotation after, and although I felt the prices were very high for a non-dealership shop, I was happy with the service and Kev and Jay always got me in the same day. We bought a almost new second car last April and AC+ handled inspection and basic maintenance. I was dissapointed to be charged $66 for my first oil change, but continued to feel good about AC+. Between visits this summer there was some sort of issue where Kevin and Jayson both left the Merrimack shop, have heard rumors but dont like gossip. They were replaced by a very young woman Chrissy who is sullen and quiet, and dogs and babies all over the waiting room became the norm so I decided to find a new shop, not being confident in Chrissys mechanical skill after many questions and just disliking her partner Curt. A $29.99 oil change coupon came in the mail for the specialized synthetic oil I use, so i tried again and Curt informed me after they had drained the old oil from my car that my car uses a heavier oil and pointed out the fine print on the coupon. Another $66 hit. A final try at having a very simple chip installed which the pack said can be done in a few minutes with simple tools in August. The woman charged me $150 and said it was a very specialized install that they have to be able to warranty. I emailed the manufactuer who said $10 to $20 is a fair install price. This time I asked for a partial refund and have not heard back. I swore to never set foot there again, and told all I had told how great a shop it was not to go there anymore since the managers had changed. Money was tight in earlier september, and the endless flood of junk mail kept coming from AC+ and this time had a $19 state inspection coupon, which I studied the fine print and called ahead to be assured was valid. We knew the Murano could have issues this year as it is older and had the exhaust repair last inspection. We agreed anything over $100 and we would get another opinion. The $19 offer was real, and I wasn't too surprised when Chrissy said it failed because check engine light was on and indicated an emissions issue. I was not planning to have anything done, but Chrissy did a little more than usual and seemed to know her stuff explaining the computer codes and quoting $135 to diagnose the issue. It seemed like a ok price, but promising to discuss costs over $100, I decided to have the car fail emmisions and pass safety, valid on road for what Chrissy said is 30 days, NH law actually gives me 60. As my fincee and I made plans for a major expense, she happened to notice Chrissy had written the rejection code my car had reported on the receipt. After a few minutes of Googling and a call, we were both furious to learn how simple and minor a issue causes this code. In our case the gas cap gasket was worn, and $5 at autozone fixed it and the light. I went back for the re inspect and decided at the last second to stay quiet. Chrissy did not ask if any repair had been made, but the inspection was done and passed easily. I'm still so mad I could spit at the attempted rip off. In the 1980's taxi industry i worked in years ago we had several owners who were ripped off at a shop take extreme action, which is not an option for me but i will provide documents and consider small claims case for the $150 charge on the $20 job. I really don't know WHAT THE HECK WENT WRONG when Kev and Jay left but aviod these con artists at all costs, particularly women. read more

Went in for an inspection sticker. Did not use my normal mechanic only because they were close to work. Had first appt of the day and the inspection took close to an hour. They took it for a road test then dismantled the car. It's an older car so I assumed they would find something being this aggressive. I was not looking to "beat" the system as my child rides in this car but this was so excessive. They listed 4 failures and they disconnected my battery and then left me to connect it when it wouldn't start! Took the car to my mechanic with all their info and let's just say they had a chuckle at auto cares findings. I did need to replace tires, which was the only finding and was given a sticker. Moral here....if you value your time, avoid them. If your car is not a current year model, avoid them. Was disappointed with my experience at this shop as I think I was viewed as a possible new customer based on their findings. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The only reason I'm even giving this place a one star is because zero is not an option. This is NOT an honest business, they will lie and cheat their way into your wallet!!! Being someone that lives out of the state of New Hampshire they took advantage of my situation. My car had broken down on the highway and I took it to this horrible place expecting honest people. WRONG, after wasting my time for hours and hours on end these people called me and said they had no idea what was wrong with my car, so they were going to wing it and put in a new starter. WOW, if I had known the auto business was a guessing game of trail and error on all sorts of pieces I'd do it myself!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE. I paid an arm and leg for them to mess around in my car and they did not even get it running. PATHETIC!!!! To top off my experience they conveniently parked my car at the bottom of a hill after my father specifically asked them to place it at the top of the hill to make loading it onto the rental truck easier for us but no. After getting home I realized they had left pieces OUT OF MY CAR, like the timing belt, they DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO PUT IT BACK. Money doesn't grow on trees for me so spending THAT much and them not even putting the parts back in my car was the saddest excuse of a repair shop I have ever experienced. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CARS TO THIS PLACE. EVER. read more
