VIP is solid. They can handle the normal issues one might confront them with and don't charge an arm and a leg. 3 1/2 would be my inclination but rounding up to 4. The waiting area is pretty bleak. Their availability to do tire changes isn't great, hence I usually have it done elsewhere after enquiring when it can be done at VIP. Convenient for them to be right next door to O'Reilly's parts as it simplifies the purchase of the odds and ends I might need car-wise. Mike was at the counter when I walked in and was rude with attitude. Got a text with a link to a supposed live feed but there was none. The rather large trash bucket in the restroom was filled to the rim. Can nobody take 5 minutes to empty it out every now and then? The TV in the waiting area was off... I brought my car in for a check engine light, they fixed the issue in a timely manner and I took it home the same day. The very next day the light was back on and it cost me even more than the first visit. Guess what, the next day the light was back on (3rd time in 3 days) and back in the shop. Called for price for oil change and tire rotation. Quoted $85.99 and additional cost $27.99 for tire rotation by Rob. When asked if they also accept AAA discount he said, yes. Told him I'm looking at Monroe discount for same at $63.00 (on Groupon) and would he match this. No, but he agreed to free tire rotation and the 10% AAA discount. Picked up my SUV... they did not do the tire rotation because said I need new tires. And he said that he was giving me "a deal" by giving me $25 off! My bill was $76.49. Math is hard for Rob apparently. Very disappointed in the service and will post on every social media thread in my community to share this rip off! read more

Absolutely terrible service, i wish I read all the yelp reviews first and seen the Reddit forums regarding VIP. went there for a inspection, failed.... due to having a some type of issue with a peice in the suspension, then graciously offered to fix it for $1200. I knew the car was I great shape since I bought it off someone who I know, and his job consists of fixing and selling cars, the car was driven from Florida to New England the day before with zero issues. I ask them I could get a copy as a quote to "fix", they never gave me said quote and guy even brought me into the shop so I could see he is "not scamming me". I took the car to my local mechanic I have gone to before, he noticed the computer mentioned a failed inspection the day before so he paid close attention, nothing to see there, car was completely fine, his jaw dropped when I told them the price quoted. just please don't bring your car here, they are looking for anything they could maybe claim is wrong and hoping you you don't know better and agree to fix whatever they claim needs fixing. I would give this establishment 0 stars if possible. Also scheduling system is complete garbage. VIP should stand for Very Incompetent People. read more

I went in needing a new tire, mine was flat. I knew I needed to get 4 because of awd. The guy at the counter was very short with me and another on came over. Didn't get good vibes from either guy. Wish I had read all of reviews before I went in. The "best" he could do was over $1300 plus re-alignment, close to $1500 total. Plus they were "swamped" and couldn't get to it. If I could select zero stars I certainly would! What a terrible, dishonorable, and shady business. My wife took my car to get it inspected, and much to my surprise it failed. This was surprising because it just passed a NY state inspection 2 months prior. The reason it "failed" was because of rust on the rotors. Their quote to replace my brakes was over $700! Now anyone who knows anything about cars knows that rotors are made of high carbon steel and it is TOTALLY normal for them to have rust on the surfaces that don't make contact with the brake pad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my rotors and by no means was there excessive rust. Additionally the rotors were well above minimum thickness. I took my car to an honest mechanic and it passed without issue. Beware of this establishment. They clearly tried to take advantage of my wife and luckily I knew better. read more

I don't know how they are for service other than expensive. I am mostly referring to their inability to inspect a car that is anything but new. Inspection 1: I had surface rust on my brakes because the truck sits for periods of time. The brakes were clearly working but they failed it for that and a tie rod end which was fine. Then graciously offered to fix them for $2400... I put new pads in and drove it around for a while to wear the rust off. My reward for this appointment was a mysterious broken hose clamp and the needless tie rod repair. Inspection 2: VIOLA, the brakes are ok. But now they broke a gas tank strap... Nice little Philips head screwdriver puck mark in it. I was under it that morning making sure the new hose clamp wasn't leaking. Weird coincidence I guess. Back to my garage for a gas tank strap. Inspection 3: Now they don't like condensation in a marker light even though it works and was like that on all previous inspections. Also the E-brake isn't strong enough anymore. Must have changed their mind since they clearly missed that on all prior inspections. And I am rewarded with another mysterious broken hose clamp and end up leaking coolant all the way home... again. I decide I can't afford to have any more mysterious new items pop up on the vehicle so I fix the hose clamp and bring it somewhere else. PASSED. Don't bother with this place unless your vehicle is new and even then I would watch out. read more

Today was my second time visiting this location. I had a great experience working with Rob the first time, so I went back thinking I would receive similar customer service. I recently moved to the area and needed my car inspected. I just received my new NH plates and was hoping they could help me put them on since I didn't have the necessary tool. If I would have known ahead of time that they would charge me the labor cost @10-15 minutes (to replace plates?! really?!) to do so, I would have just purchased the tool next door and done it myself! I was charged $27 for them to take out and put back in 4 screws and 2 license plates. I was thinking there could potentially be a small cost for this service, but not $27?! I unfortunately don't think I will be back to this location if this is how they "help" their customers. :( read more

Great shop. I've used them for years for inspections. They always lay out what I need and will reinspect once things are fixed (even if I do it myself). They have helped me whenever I've been in a pinch and didn't have the tools I need to get a job done, and charged me a reasonable amount. read more

I had an 11:00AM appointment for an inspection. I arrived early and there was only the service manager and one customer. He continued to talk to this customer for 15 minutes, as the customer was not happy with what they had found wrong on his car. I stood there for 15 minutes without even being acknowledged, so I called and cancelled my appointment. Had a reservation on 11/13/20 at noon and was given a confirmation number on line. Arrived at Bedford, NH location on time, Service Manager looked at computer and said he didn't see a reservation for me. I showed him my phone with the confirmation number. He said he didn't get it, and it would be at least an hour wait - this for maybe a 15 minute tire repair job. New customer, but will never go back. No interest in even trying to resolve the reservation problem by squeezing me in for a quick tire repair fix. read more

I have had multiple great experiences with VIP. Recently I moved to the area and needed a place to service my car. The first time I went to VIP was for a flat tire. They attempted to patch it but were unable to. I was charged nothing and the next day they had a new tire ready for me to put on my car! I was a the Bedford (NH) location yesterday for an oil change. The gentleman (Joe) that waited on me was very friendly and professional. I got the feeling that I was "important" being a customer. There wasn't any pressure trying to "up-sell" things I wasn't needing or wanting, my questions were answered and my car was serviced quickly. I have had less than favorable experiences at another location but started going to the Bedford store when service is needed. Being treated with respect..... My 18 yo daughter broke down and we made the mistake of not having unlimited towing mileage with AAA so we took it to VIP Bedford...they fixed the car, which I am sure would have been $200 cheaper at our normal mechanic and proceeded to fail then inspection and made an additional "$2000" worth of needs and recommendations for an 08 rio ... Long story short we took it up to our normal mechanic who passed the inspection with $250 worth of work...I am warning everyone don't go there unless it's an emergency they trump everything up! read more

I had mistakenly put diesel in my car and my car stopped working and had my car towed to VIP. And when I asked for the estimation the rough estimation I got from them was $805. Then again I had to tow my car to another repair shop which fixed it for $280.i would never ever suggest anyone for VIP again. read more

I wouldn't say that VIP Auto is a terrible place to go to, but I would caution anyone who goes there other than for basic service needs; changing oil, tires, alignment etc. If you do go for anything other than that be prepared to pay quite a bit for the parts, more than most other places. You would think that being located in the same building as Oriley's auto parts that the parts wouldn't be so expensive, you would be wrong. There is a high markup on the parts almost twice and sometimes fives times as much as Orileys is charging. If you were to ask why that was the case you would get the response that it is to pay for overhead costs, which is sperate from the labor cost. All in all, VIP is great for the basics, but I would shop around if they have to start replacing parts on your vehicle. As for the customer service, it is top notch and you'll have a great experience talking to either Rob or Joe. read more

Price Markup is absolutely outrageous. For a part that is OEM cost at $202 from the local Audi dealership, this store was trying to sell a wheel hub over $400 dollars. I don't care about the shop overhead costs. How much it costs to turn the lights on. The reasons why the parts were expensive was either the service manager and or the technicians where trying to get a higher commission in the sale of this simple wheel hub job. VIP would have still made money off that wheel hub if they had priced it at a reasonable price. I get it, 20% markup sure, but almost 100% markup!!! Seriously! $202 dollars is their list price, but COST probably around $175-180. Do not bring your car here. Period. As consumers we do need to understand that any automotive shop have EVERY RIGHT to markup their prices on parts. That's partially one way that they make money and I have no problem paying because I'm paying for convenience and warranty. So to those who want to "bring their own parts" do me a favor and eat crow. Support your family owned automotive shops/businesses. However in terms of this place, you have probably been ripped off every service that required some sort of mechanical repair. Also this particular store did not put the effort in looking for an aftermarket wheel hub for my vehicle in which if I didn't call my local shop and another VIP Service center, I would have been left out of a car for an additional two days. I had to go above and beyond and call another store to find out who are their parts vendors. I called the service manager and told him to call BFCP, order the part, and get my car put back together properly. Which is wasn't! I would hope these technicians are ASE certified because if they can't put a simple brake clip back onto the caliper find another career. I will be putting my vehicle on a lift and inspecting their work. I probably will find more problems because lately my brake pad warning light comes on randomly. They probably didn't install the wiring harness connector properly so water is getting into the harness causing the connection to ground. Those brakes still have life on them, over 50%. They also had the nerve to tell me I needed a new steering knuckle. YOUR MECHANICS! CUT OFF THE BOLT, HEAT IT UP, DO WHATEVER! GET CREATIVE!!!! ITS A SCREW!!!! AND YOUR TELLING ME I NEED TO GET A BRAND NEW STEERING KNUCKLE FOR OVER $600 DOLLARS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET A SCREW OUT! WTF? If they didn't get it out, don't care what the condition or state of my vehicle, I would have gotten it towed one way or another to another shop that knows what they are doing. Warranty or not, I will not go back here. Luckly I deterred about 20 customers to going to any of their locations and avoiding VIP what I like to call a Yelp disaster. read more

I called in at 4:00pm asking if they had time to change the oil on my vehicle and was told they can make time to do it before 6:00pm that day or the next. I arrived shortly after and was met by Greg who took care of me right away, he told me I will receive a call once it was done. An hour later I was told that my vehicle was ready. When I arrived for my appt, Shane, whom I had spoken to initially never greeted me nor said "hello". When I told him who I was, his answer was "I know". After a bried conversation, I mentioned speaking to "Greg", whom I had spoken to several times with scheduling this appt, and Shane pointed to the co-worker directly next to him and stated "that's Greg". Greg did not lift his head nor acknowledge me. When I picked up my car, Shane never thanked me for using their service. This was my first time to VIP and it will be my last time. After a positive experience with getting my inspection done in March, I was way overdue for my oil change and decided to come back and use the $10.00 off coupon. I normally have my guard up and prepare myself for the usual high pressure sales on something I don't need but they didn't try that at all and it was a relief! Realized i had 2 bubbles on my front 2 tires after I got out of work today at 430pm. Have to drive out of state 100+ miles tomorrow. Stopped in at 515pm and they sized my tires, put it up on the rack, and had everything done in 45mins for a great price. Had 4 new tires installed on my 2500 GMC. When install was complete I got into the truck to leave and as I pulled out onto the road my two rear tire pressure sensors went off saying 58 psi and 60 for those tires. I pulled back in and spoke to the tech at the garage door. He stated the front tired got mounted on the back and the sensors would relearn with a bit of driving that they are now on the back and it would reset. I have put approximately 3,000 miles on it and the sensors have not reset. Today October 18th I went back to the shop in BEDFORD. As I pulled in by the bays I saw the front desk guy at a car next to the bays. I pulled in and explained the above issues. His first response to me was he was working the front by himself and his people were at lunch. Even though several techs where in the garage working on cars. His phone rang and he answered it as I was speaking with him and he walked off into the garage bay. Then a tech came over and closed the garage door. At this point I walked around to the other side of the building and into the tire sales area where the same desk associate was walking up to the desk. He immediately stated I will have to wait quite a while before he can get to me with the tone of me being an inconvenience. At which point I stated it should have been addressed correctly originally and stated I will take my business where it is wanted and left. I will take my car to an experienced mechanic and no longer do business with VIP. Use caution with doing business here if customer service is something you think is still important. read more

Not long after I brought my Toyota Sienna to VIP in Bedford, NH to put on my snow tires and perform the state inspection, the manager, Greg Bagley, phoned me. After a mechanic and then Greg both drove my car from the lot to the garage, they instantly noticed something was wrong with the brakes and wanted to investigate further. My husband and I were both surprised as I had obsessively brought my car to Toyota for every recommended service, or as needed. Greg showed me one of the brake calipers, hardware, and his plan for fixing the problem. Driving home from VIP, it was as though I had a new car. For the last two years since moving to Bedford, I always had to push the brake pedal quite far down to stop, and in fact, that is why my daughters never liked driving my car. I trusted Toyota, and I presumed my brakes were ok. I told Greg that he saved me from a terrible accident, or possibly saved my life as well as others. If I could give zero stars I would. About 6 months ago I payed VIP nearly a grand to fixed my back window (came off the track) and a new control arm. Last week I went to VIP to get my inspection sticker and they racked up another $1000 worth of "problems" I have that made my car fail. So I was chatting with my grandfather about what was wrong and what they were charging and he was shocked. He brought me to his garage. Come to find out the only thing wrong with my car WAS THE BACK WINDOW AND THE CONTROL ARM THAT VIP "FIXED". Oh, and also my front wheel was barely hanging on, and they said if I had been driving on the highway it would have fallen right off and I could have died!! Great! Not only did VIP charge me and fix NOTHING but they made my car worse! DO NOT GO HERE. The up charge is ridiculous and I don't even think they can change a light bulb.
