Ordinarily, I'd get any type of maintenance service done by the Bimmer dealership. However, I wasn't really here for maintenance related reasons this time around. You see, it turns out that ol' VIP here really treats their veterans, (past and present) like the real VIPs. By granting them all free state inspections. For those who don't drive on the regular, this is kind of a huge deal. At the time of writing this review, that's 45 bucks I didn't have to spend. And while it's an ancillary amount of money, the words to properly articulate how deeply I appreciate the gesture alone haven't been invented yet. So, as others here have pointed out already, service is fast and efficient. I booked an appointment, even though I didn't have to. They looked vacant enough to take a walk-in right there and then. But all in all, the inspection took all of 10 minutes, tops. And that's it, really. Nothing complicated about it. A maintenance shop just needs to provide service quickly for a fair price, far as I'm concerned. VIP Tires & Service receives 5 socket wrenches dipped in gold plating out of 5. read more

Every time I come here I wind up with extra problems with my car. I came in to have a heat shield checked (for rattle), and a broken hood latch. I left with a stripped wheel stud ($70 to fix). My regular mechanic explained how obvious that is when it happens. They're not taking responsibility for it at Merrimack VIP, but I'm confident they're the ones who did it. Not happy with the way they've treated me, and how they denied what I know to be true. Update: I did contact Colleen and she denied they stripped the stud. (No big surprise). It's a hard thing to prove, so I won't pursue it. Not going back though. read more

I have gone here. I use VIP for basic mechanical work, like oil changes. I'm usually able to schedule appointments when I need them, but it can be tough at the end of day. They all want to get out of there right away. They have misdiagnosed more than one issue in the past (all on the more expensive side) so I keep it simple with them. read more

I asked for a Mobil 1 110a oil filter with the Mobil 1 0w-20 oil and instead they put on a Microguard oil filter. These people sometimes just don't pay attention to the customer. Will VIP Auto exchange it out at no cost to me? read more

Been here before and I like the principle. Awesome print outs and informational. The issue came when I set up a state inspection appointment for 10:00am. Lo and behold their internet is down when I get there. No call letting me know before hand or anything. I don't have many days off work so I can only set up certain days to be there for 30-40 minutes. They did not assist me in getting another appointment or give me priority or anything. Idk, I'd expect a VIP service to have a better plan in this event. read more

The least shady of the local auto services. The bar is low. My experience is that they give realistic wait times. They have wifi in the wait room and "coffee". For your routine inspections, oil changes, tires...they will try to up sell other services. The difference between them, and, say, Valvoline, is the price of the services is reasonable. read more

I had purchased tires and custom wheels from an online merchant. Took them to VIP to be mounted and balanced. Upon picking them up the next day I was disappointed with the quality of the work and price. No price quote was given to me when I requested the service. I was charged for a "standard tire package" $138.00 which included a disposal fee. I did not have anything to dispose of, no old tires. I had to go back for a refund of the fee. Then upon receiving the tires/wheels I noticed they used standard hammer-on weights. Custom wheels usually would get the stick-on weights placed on the inside of the rim. Last time I had this service done, I had Walmart do it and they did it correctly for less ($50). I guess you have to spell it out for them. Never going back to VIP again. read more

VIP offered free state inspection. I thought I'd go for it. I drove over and got the 'come back later' story, so i made an appointment and returned later. I arrived slightly early, checked in and sat down. A half hour later my truck rolls into the service bay. Tech parks it, honks the horn, leaves it. Another hour later I get called to check out. Failed. Because of walk-around items, not emissions or bad bulbs or worn tires or anything else 'really' safety related. They didn't like the clear plate covers that have been on since 2011. They think my LED tail lights aren't NH legal. Town and State police say they are as have the last 5 years of inspection stations. OK, so that's what the tech was instructed to do - but every other shop I've used for a vehicle inspection (that's 40 years of inspections, usually for 2 or more cars) would mention this before taking the truck into the service bay for a guaranteed fail. VIP didn't and entered these 'defects' into the NH vehicle database. Do you think I'll ever return to VIP ? Not even for free stuff baby... read more

Shop fees for tire change is bs. 11.29 for What lube on the tire gloves air. That's all u use. Shop supply fees are charged to recoup costs associated with the inspection and repair of a vehicle as it relates to consumable items such as solvents, adhesives, cleaners, floor liners, and seat covers to name a few items. They did not use any of that stuff. Could not even fill my windshield fluid. read more

Decidedd to give this place a try as I work up the street with about 400 employees. I walked in and stood in front of the counter where one man stood behind a register doing paperwork and a young woman was with a customer. I waited about 5 minutes. Nobody even acknowledged I was there. No I will be right with you or one moment please. Just nothing. So I left. Service has degraded under the new service manager in recent years. Have had serious issues arise from VIP repairs done on 3 different vehicles such as bolts missing from brake calipers, bent and improperly installed struts (mismatched left and right), damaged calipers resulting in noisy brakes, etc. Our VIP repairs have cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars to resolve despite finding honest and reasonably priced mechanics. Will never return there again as it is foolish to trust that a problem will be solved by its source. read more

Dishonest company. I had them to change oil and do inspection a few days ago. They told me that I need monroe spectrum replaced which will cost close to 1,000 to pass the inspection. I just had Toyota dealer that I had been using for many year inspected my car in MA not long ago. The reason I had do another inspection is because I moved from MA to NH. Never fails, this place takes much longer than they say. It's happened twice to me. Once with changing tires - made an appt for a quick swap out of tires. It was clear during the 3.5 hour visit in the waiting room that they didn't honor appointments, nor where they honest about the timing when we checked in. Next appt. a quick inspection turned into a changing of the rear brakes. A 30 minute exercise or so they claimed, going on over an hour and still not done. The "quick" references during the appointments may have gotten me to stick around in that moment and temporarily give them business. However they have lost a customer in the end, as I will go out of my way to find a more honest establishment. read more

Normally this VIP provides what they say they will provide. They've replaced calipers fine, and break pads, and they've done snow/summer tire changes well over the years. They even replaced tie rods which were under warrantee. But sometimes they don't follow through with time expectations, and sometimes they have given me poor recommendations for buying truck tires. Not all truck tires are good in the winter. The manufacturer needs to label the tire as a winter tire, and I'm not sure that the people at VIP always check that or just assume that any truck tire is a winter tire. read more

Terrible service. Price gouge. We had brakes done there. Tried to charge us about $300 more than Milford VIP's quote and about $400 more than Meineke's quote. A little more than 6 months after they replaced our brakes the car started shaking really bad. We went in and they showed no desire to address a potential safety issue with work they had done. They said we had to make an appointment for them to look at it. Nothing was available for hours. We drove down the road to Meineke and they immediately dropped what they were doing and took the car for a test ride to make sure it was at least safe to drive. We had them replace everything VIP had done. They told us the pads were almost 100% but the rotors were definitely defective or possibly not even new! Stay away from this place! read more

Great Place, Good People, Choose VIP Tire & Services in Merrimack!

Every time we've brought our Mazda3 to this business for any type of work, it leaves with something new wrong with it. Most recently, the car had (among other things) a fuse replaced. The mechanic apparently noticed, after he was finished, that the car's electronic locks no longer worked, and the "door open" light was illuminated as well. The mechanic mentioned these things to the manager, Garth, who told him to check with the customer to see if it was a preexisting issue. Nobody checked with us, then nor later when we paid and picked up the car. Not the mechanic, and not the manager -- with whom we spoke directly when we paid. And no, it was not a preexisting issue. A wire had apparently come loose from the fuse box while other work was done. Only an idiot would have not seen the obvious connection between these events. Next day, yet another trip to the mechanic, several more hours wasted. We've been using VIP for our other vehicles with no problem, but this is at least the third time they've messed up the Mazda. We will not be using this business ever again. read more

Recently (last week) took my car for an inspection and had a tie rod fail and tires. Paid for the tie-rod and had an alignment done. Took the car to work steering right the whole time (alignment was worse then when I dropped it off). Had tires done at Sullivan with a corrected alignment the next day and as straight as could be. Vip would not offer a refund nor store credit towards future work. Also had a tranny flush there a couple years ago and car was fine before dropping it off, anytime I drove the car above 65mph following the flush the CEL would appear. Unless you have substantial time in your life to pick up and drop off cars, try bringing it to a place that will get it right the first time. Complete disaster! read more

They jumped right in when the headlight lamps weren't coming apart as easily as they should, I'd just picked them up at Reilly's and was attempting it in the parking lot. I asked if they could take care of that, and while it was in there, resurface the headlight lenses as they were all cloudy. Shazam, all of it done in a snap for a reasonable price. Noted they were cheaper than the Jiffy Lube I normally use for inspection. Also, the non-working headlight just passed inspection 12 hours earlier at Jiffy Lube. Seems possibly they missed that. read more

Went for inspection and was failed because I need new ball joints for $600. Took it to my own mechanic he said nothing was wrong and passed the inspection. Would not recommend this place. read more

Update to my last visit that was not so good. I had gone back to get the vehicle re-inspected. The manager, I think her name was Alyssa, was there. She apologized for the way the other employee had been from my last visit and assured me that the VIP way is not what he had shown. They look to make sure the customer is satisfied and treated right. I thanked her for acknowledging the situation and addressing the matter. She had said she is trying to get the correct process and atmosphere brought back to this location. I told her that I feel as though she is on the right track as she understood and treated me like a customer and not a number. I have given them a higher rating for the turn around they have done for the customer service. I will continue to be a customer as long as the customer is appreciated. read more

VIP is horrible. I've taken my car here a few times, and every time I do, the staff keeps it for much longer than needed, and when it's done, there's something wrong with it. The last time I went to get something fixed, I left and the gas gauge was broken. I had to bring it back and they took 4 days to fix it. For parts, they are fine to shop from, but I am not going back for service again. read more

Took my car in to diagnose a rear wheel noise. Diagnosed as a bearing issue. Had the brakes and bearing replaced... the same day. So far so good. Service at the front desk was professional and courteous ... no complaints from me. read more

Pleasant service however shifty business practices. Brought the car in for an alignment and motor mount replacement. They called and told me I needed the entire exhaust replaced. When I informed them that half the exhaust was less than 6 months old, tthe rep said he would check with the tech. They then called back an hour later and said I needed 2 gaskets and a flange repair kit. Work was quoted at $447. When I arrived to pick up the car, the bill was for $750. Upon reviewing the bill, they had double charged on some items. Even after the correction the bill was for $680, over $200 more than I had been quoted just hours before. They could not explain the increased price. Work was done satisfactorily however. read more
