Great service, especially if you are putting off your smog test to the last minute. Smog test takes about 10 minutes. They also do registration services, which I used this year. You renew your registration right there and they give you the sticker for your license plate. The cost is a tad high, but they provide a valuable service. Also, free drinks while you wait. read more

I own a couple older cult cars so I need yearly smog tests. Even when I'm not required to go to a smog only place, I still bring my cars here. They are friendly. They seem to know what to do with all the different vehicles I bring them. It normally takes about 20 minutes for my pre-1994 (OBD I) cars and it's even faster for the OBDII. They sometimes have yelp promotions so I got a 20% discount on my last stop here this past week and a free bottle of water while I waited. read more

Zero stars and here's why: I took my late model Acura here for a smog test and was told it failed the ignition timing test. My car passed all of the other emissions tests. I took my car to my mechanic to adjust the ignition timing (for my make model, the range is 16.1 +/- 2 points, so my mechanic adjusted it to 17. I took it back to this facility for a re-test, and I knew something was wrong when I asked that the same technician who performed the first test (Eddie Tan) do the re-test for the sake of consistency. [ I am sure that each technician has their own process for testing the cars]. Here's what the cashier told me: "It's not his turn to do the test". So they rotate between three technicians to test cars. Well, that's fine, but my car was the only car at the facility at the time. So Eddie Tan and the other technicians sat around Tweeting and texting on their smart phones when he was available to do the re-test. You would think that at least for customer service reasons, the facility would honor my request for the original technician to do the re-test. The technician who did the re-test did the test in reverse order based upon my observation. So he started with the ignition timing test and then did the emissions test last, which failed. I took the re-test results to my mechanic (My mechanic KNOWS cars in and out he has been a trustworthy, reliable mechanic for all of my cars (3 cars in 20 years -- that should let you know how good this guy is at providing service on your vehicles). This is what my mechanic told me: "the re-test results are b$llsh*t!. These guys can tell if the car is going to pass/fail and adjust their procedures accordingly". Other observations about this facility: The cashiers are rude and indifferent to customers, especially the one who sits on the right as you face the cashier stand. The technician who writes up orders (Jamaican guy) is extremely rude -- he was so insistent upon getting my initial test (it was in the trunk of my car) that he barely let me get out of my car and walk around it to get to my trunk to retrieve it. One of the technicians was sitting around reading a book while the other technicians heads were buried into their smart phones. There appears to be no teamwork amongst these idiots doing smog tests, nor sharing of information or expertise. This joint may offer coupons, but save your money. The only thing this joke of a smog test facility has going for it is location, location, location -- if it were not directly across the street from the Manhattan Village Mall it would have gone out of business years ago because of the terrible customer service. So I am going to have my car re-checked at a smog test facility on Saturday and I am sure it will pass. I will update this review with the results, but if you are considering this place, BEWARE!!!! Update: I took my car to another Auto Test only center on 6/1/13 without making any modifications to my car and it passed with flying colors. Don't waste your time with these jokers -- the other auto test center that passed my car said and I quote: " Auto check centers herd cars in like 'cattle' ". They just want your $49.95 so don't let them snooker you like they snookered me. read more

I come here twice every other year to get both of My Trucks Smogged. On My F-150 I have Veteran Plates and every time the same tech asks about My Time in Service?, and I always tell him the samething every time about My Tour of Duty. And He tells Me about his time in Service. But I don't Mind. I rather enjoy it, and this location is really convenient for Me. read more

This place was exactly what I was looking for. I am assuming the price for these smog checks is set by the state more or less, so I don't know anything about price comparison. However, it was conveniently located. Further, I didn't wait a single second before they were testing my car. I was in and out in 20 minutes and after a yelp check-in I got 20% off. Extremely fast and friendly service. 20% Yelp discount covered the cost of the Smog Certificate and even a little of the actual service, which was nice. Everything regarding the smog check's completion is sent electronically to your DMV so your records stay up-to-date and you can skip the DMV visit. If you really want to get things handled, you can pay for your registration and stickers($19.95) and walk out with them in hand same day. I love this place. Never have I experienced a faster and more efficient smog check business until I first visited Auto Chek 2 years ago. It was that time again so I headed over there and arrived at about 10:30 on a Saturday morning. Yup, there were already several cars in line in front of me and all 3 bays were already occupied. I said to myself, "Self, if the wait is going to be longer than an hour, I'm out of here!" The nice lady came over to my car after maybe three minutes and told me it would only be about 1/2 an hour. I think it turned out to be around 20 minutes before they started on my car. I parked my butt on one of the two benches they have which were fortunately in the shade. About 15 minutes later my car was ready. Added bonus is that they will check and refill the air in your tires for $5 and, for another $22, they will register your car for you and provide you with your tag. Helpful hint: There's a fridge there with sodas that are free to customers but you probably won't see it until you go to pay and they won't ring you up until they've finished with your car so look to the left of where the counter is if you need something refreshing. read more
