The nice thing is that they electronically sent in the paperwork. I just had to wait a few hours before I could finish my registration online. No trip to the DMV == YAY! It's not often I get excited about Smog Check places... OK, I've NEVER gotten excited about smog check places... but MAN, this place is the SHIZ! Even the building is trippy and cool. The out-the-door price is $58, which is already pretty damn good (plus they have a 20% off coupon always posted on their website). They take competitor's coupons, however, and I showed them a "$20 Off" VIP discount postcard that a place all the way in Whittier had mailed me (where I'd been for several past smog checks). Auto Chek accepted it! Despite their hardly being a "competitor." So it was $38.20 out the door!! WOW! Though it looked crowded, they have three (yes, three!) Smog Check bays in constant operation. They took me right away, and I was on the road again in 15 minutes. No kidding. They are VERY professional, from the techs to the cashiers. Free drink fridge (which I didn't "chek" out -- since I already had my coffee in hand). Fast, clean, efficient -- I will definitely be back. I almost wish a smog check was required EVERY year! I've been to this place twice now and both times have been great. In and out of there in about 10 minutes. It's also conveniently near the office I work at so I can go on my lunch break and still have time to do other things. Like others have mentioned, it's always a good idea to check for competitor coupons even though they offer 20% off on their website. I used a $15 off competitor coupon and I spent a total of 43 bucks with the test and the certificate. The sodas and coffee are great and was surprised to see a Shasta Apple Soda. The only downside to this place is that their waiting room, isn't really a waiting room so there's no place to sit but the thing is you're not in there for long so it's not even a big deal! I didn't opt to get my tags here today but last time I paid the additional 20 dollars to get everything done. It's especially convenient if you're near or on the deadline for renewal. Today was my first visit and after having my smog check hang over my head for so long, I really wish I'd known about this place sooner!! I was looking for an outdoor, fast, and reliable place to get a smog check during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is it! I went on a Saturday morning, which I knew was risky, but I couldn't avoid. When I arrived at around 10am, all 3 bays had cars, plus each had one car waiting, so SIX cars in front of me! Even so, I was only there for about 35-40 minutes. Super efficient and safe staff. All had masks, even in the outdoor spaces and the recently relaxed regulations. I really appreciated that! I sat on a bench outside and did some reading while I waited. Super easy. I even remembered my Yelp check-in coupon for a bit of savings. My regular mechanics doesn't do smog checks, so I was super glad to find this place. I will definitely be back, even though it is a bit out of the way for me. Worth the trip!!!!! As others have mentioned, they have a mini fridge with free soda while you wait. So for Smog checks this place is really great. It is absolutely 15 mins if no one is in front of you. It was the fastest smoothes smog check I've ever had. They offer sodas, but you have to ask and really, by the time you start enjoying it they'll be done. It is a few more dollars than some other places, but its worth the extra few bucks. read more

I'm giving the Manhattan Beach Auto Convenience Center four stars and not five because (1) I have no other experience with smog places (smog virgin), and (2) that's not a "waiting room." It was excellent and painless for this first-timer. I pulled up on a Friday morning before lunch, and they were able to wave me right in without a wait. The guy took my DMV paperwork and asked me to wait in the office. The office is a cashier window with no seats and not enough room for more than a few people. I stood outside and tried to figure out what they were doing to my car. It was less than 10 minutes and the guy was done! I paid my fee, and I was on my way. I read reviews from other smog places, and a few of them give me the feeling like smog places aren't on the up and up. This place wasn't like that at all. It was fast, professional, and the price wasn't bad. I found a discount coupon on their Web site, and my price was less than fifty dollars including certificate. They electronically transmitted the certificate to the DMV, and they also offered that I could pay my registration on the spot (for an additional fee). I'd go back to this location again. read more

Everything was so fast and efficient from checking in and getting rung up, the whole thing took me 20 min, slightly less. This smog check station is the fastest place I've ever been to. I had two cars that needed smog checks to complete the registration. One car was done with ease. I told the cashier I needed the tags immediately. I didn't want to pay the $19 fee for the tags from them and when I told her I wanted to get them at AAA, she told me which AAA office was open on Saturdays. I had the tags in my hand within an hour of leaving the place. I brought my second car to get smogged so I could finish the registration in the same quick, efficient method I used less than two weeks prior. The cashier that helped me with my first car was not there. The second cashier told me the tags would be mailed to me as she was handing the receipt to my son. (My son paid and finished the transaction this time.) I explained to the cashier that I needed the tags the same day and was going to go to AAA. I told her I wanted to do it the same way I did with my first car. She just nodded and let us leave. After going to two different AAA offices and being told they could NOT give me my tags because the registration was still being processed, AAA explained that the transmission was made directly between the smog check center and DMV. I went through the exact same process with both cars. The only difference was the cashier. I am dropping my rating by one star because the second cashier didn't process the smog check in the same manner as the first cashier. End result was my son and I wasted 3-4 hours running between AAA offices to NOT get the tags. Make sure you specifically tell the cashier you want your tags immediately before they finish taking your payment. Otherwise you will have to wait until DMV mails them. Hopefully you get the very helpful cashier, not the ditzy one. Why would I go to a place where they completed the tests so quickly and then wait for the snail mail to deliver tags weeks later? Their sign advertises you can get tags there (for their $19 fee). Why the cashier chose the option to have DMV mail them (without even telling us she did) still baffles me. read more

Yelp brought me to this place. I used the Yelp deal for 20% off which they handled without issues. The line was long, but the wait was short. About 3 vehicles were in front of me in queue as the line backed onto the side street. I got there around 12:42pm on a weekday and left just after 1:00pm. Yes, the fridge is nice with sodas and small waters for you while you wait. The lady at the register is fast and efficient as the men flagging you through outside onto their smog sniffers/OBDI OBDII readers. I know there may be cheaper spots for smog around the south bay, but the speedy no hassle service made this place worth a visit for that necessary smog check. If you're in a rush, I'd recommend dropping by here and using that coupon. read more

Just left this review on google, just copying it here on yelp to be sure people are aware of the bad customer service here: Went there this morning to get my smog done on a Ford Explorer me and my fiancé acquired from my parent in laws; Nothing has ever been changed on the vehicle, it has always been serviced and maintained. They Bought in Torrance Ca, then they moved to Colorado to retire... after 10 years we bring the car back, and per California emissions, needed to obviously be smogged since we are registering in the state. Long story short, a sticker was missing off the hood (a replacement hood), so the boys went into their bible sized book that said, and I quote "this isn't the original engine and you tampered with the evap valve.." I explained to them otherwise and they failed me. I went to The Ford Dealership up the street (South Bay Ford) and just about 4 mechanics and 2 service writers basically laughed and said these guys are either scamming me, or they have no idea about engines. There is some unit that regulates the evap and not the valve they were saying I "tampered with" and failed. The sticker I was missing was supposed to say exempt or something, but this is something ford can't put back on a hood. Sooooo I was recommended to go to 16 minute smog in Hawthorne right up the street where I had no problems, and the gentleman showed me his ODB stating that in fact I had an exempt vehicle. So why the long story? I could have easily gave this smog place 5 stars. In fact they only failed me because I didn't have the sticker... they even said themselves it "might" be exempt. (Which it was)... they didn't even charge me for failing the smog.... The reason why I am leaving this terrible review is because as I left. WITH MY BACK TURNED. One of the techs there muttered "get the f*ck out of here with that bull sh*t". To me presumably... couldn't figure out who he would be talking to since I was the only person within a stones throw of him.. Learn some manners, and respect for people. Terrible Terrible Terrible TERRIBLE customer service. Probably the only time this poor fellow ever gets to feel superior on a pedestal. Good luck going anywhere in life with that kind of attitude. I hope you remember this and know who you are. Sorry you guys have employees who are clearly sorry excuses of people. Lost my business and anyone else I can warn about you all.
