He provided a $1000 deposit in cash and was told via text message from the owner that the work would be completed for $3500 and in a 2-3 week turnaround time. Weeks passed and our vehicle remained untouched. When my boyfriend texted the owner questioning what the hold up was, the owner stated that he was strapped for money and had to take care of his customers who paid in full first. He offered to make our vehicle a priority if we paid the remaining $2500 and stated he'd have it done in two weeks. The remaining funds were paid to him in cash and we obtained a receipt. Again, weeks went by with every excuse under the sun thrown at us for why it hadn't been painted yet. Every time we specifically asked what date the truck would be painted and were given an answer, that date would come and go and nothing would happen. Finally, after 7 weeks without our vehicle, my boyfriend told the owner we would be picking it up and wanted our money back. The owner then proceeded to throw racist and personal insults at my boyfriend and he threatened to park our vehicle outside of his locked gates overnight before we could get there. My boyfriend told him we'd just come get the truck that night since he was going to leave it unsecured and then he refused to come to the shop to give it to us. Another business owner who shares the fenced property, allowed us to take the vehicle and when my boyfriend contacted the owner asking how he'd like to handle refunding our money, he stopped responding to our messages. Additionally, the truck's paint was sanded down with a grinder while in the business's possession and left outside which caused excessive rusting. Any licensed painter would know better than to leave exposed metal outside to the elements to rust. This business has stolen money for a job he didn't complete and damaged the vehicle which is now being fixed by an actual reputable paint shop.
