I come down from Ventura to see "Shady", and his name couldn't be more ironic, because there's nothing shady about him or his work. He's been maintaining my 2005 Lexus SC430 and has saved me a boatload of money on repairs and maintenance over the years. He's respectful, friendly, and clearly takes pride in getting things right. My most recent service made the car run like it did when it was new. The engine is humming smoothly again, something I've honestly NEVER experienced after a repair or routine maintenance anywhere else and I've owned this car since 2007. And while the name S & M Automotive might make some people do a double take (hahaha), the only thing painful here is realizing how unnecessary other repair bills can be once you find a mechanic this good and dependable. I had no idea where to take my car on such short notice, but I called them and they told me to bring it in so they could take a look. The next morning Scott called me and explained what needed to be done. I gave them the okay, and my car was ready just a few hours later. I also looked around and got a few quotes from other shops just to see if the price was fair, and Williams Automotive ended up being the best price by far. They also let me know my transmission fluid was really dark, which honestly wasn't surprising since I had never changed it. I came back for that service and an oil change, and once again everything was done quickly and for a really good price. Everyone I've dealt with there has been friendly and helpful. The lady in the office is also super nice, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, I'm really happy with the service, price, turnaround time, and customer service. My appointment was for 1:15 but I got there early and was taken right away. The manager Issac greeted me and did the test . The website states smog tests could take up to an hour so I took a seat and within maybe 30 minutes I was all done. Issac told me my car passed and the certificate was sent over electronically to the DMV. I had a coupon for $10.00 off I found on their website and it was honored. Dropped off my car on a Monday and get a call on Tuesday saying they figured out the problem. Said it was electrical but didn't really explain what was wrong with it and quoted me $680. Told them I couldn't do that price and he says it usually cost $800 anywhere else. I tell him that I'd be picking up the car soon. Take an uber to the shop to pick the car up and they are closed for an hour on lunch. Fine, I wait around since I do not want to waste more money on uber. When the mechanic finally arrives after lunch I ask him what exactly is wrong with the car. He proceeds to vaguely tell me the car is old and that the wiring is messed up and it keeps blowing the fuse. I then ask him if he did in fact change the fuse, said he did. I take the car to auto zone and find the blown fuse and replace it. Solved the problem, no more issues, hasn't blown the fuse since. SO THIS SHOP TRIED TO CHARGE ME $680 FOR A BLOWN FUSE. For those of you who know nothing about cars, please get a second opinion or do some research online before paying these people.

Since that car does not have a traditional belt-driven compressor setup, I knew it was going to take more than generic trial-and-error diagnosis. As of a few months a go I went to Sergio's Auto Repair to get a transmission looked at for my…read moremother's Van. (And to be fair Sergio seemed to be a bit boggled by the issue I brought him but he still went ahead and did a repair...) Fast forward a few months and the issue still persisted, and the transmission ended up not shifting into other gears, so I ended up taking it to a specialty transmission shop yesterday (03.18.2026). All in all I would recommend this shop but maybe just for simple repairs and nothing too out of the ordinary since they do not specialize in any particular area of autos. *Also, it would've been better if they just said that they dont or wont touch the transmission. Unfortunately the repair that was done here may have ultimately damaged the internals because of lack of knowledge with this vehicle. *On another note, I called the number provided on Yelp (and also what I had saved on my phone) and another "Sergio" answered claiming to be a car wash person and he was confused on how I got "his" number. If they did change the number they should disclose it on Yelp so others wont call the wrong person/ repair shop. (Number I called was 805.483.7901 as it shows on Google and Yelp.) This is not to bash anyone, im simply stating that if a shop is not knowledgable on a particular vehicle they (the shop) can choose to offer the client an alternative shop instead of taking on work they cant fulfill or diagnose correctly. In all these years, I only had to bring my car back once, and it turned out the issue was completely unrelated to the original repair. One experience that really stood out happened years ago when my car key broke off in the trunk lock. A mobile locksmith quoted me $250 to remove the broken piece and make a new key. Instead, I took the car to Sergio's. Chava came out with a small tool, removed the broken key in less than five minutes, and had me on my way. He didn't charge me a dime.
