    Onion rings were meh

I had to think about this one for a while before posting my review. My husband and I were born and raised in Chicago, we take our pizza VERY seriously, and we are always on the lookout for a good approximation of Chicago style pizza and atmosphere close to our home. First thoughts, this felt like a Chicago bar, noisy, dark, lots of laughs, sports on TV, fabulous. We waited quite awhile for our beer, but I'm guessing it was due to the large table that arrived at the same time as us. The menu was ok, not a huge selection of appetizers, mostly breaded and fried everything, we got the onion rings, which were definitely just bagged onion rings. Nothing special. Ordered our pizza, and I asked if it was Chicago thin crust, I assumed it was but since it wasn't specified on the menu I figured I'd ask. She said I could ask for it if I wanted it that way, so I guess if you like your Chicago pizza like a Chicago pizza, you have to ask? Well I asked, and it was good, very good I'd say, and the crust was nice and thin and crisp. My husband thought his toppings were a little sparse, but was also impressed with the cracker thin tasty crust. I will definitely go back for another pizza, but I'll be sure to ask them to cut it properly, it came in pie slices and everyone knows a Chicago pizza gets cut into squares! All around, minus the onion rings, this is a good spot for a Chicago style feel and meal.

Love the staff! Meet the owner, great guy from Illinois. BEARS FAN! Great happy hour deals on drinks and appetizers. Ordered mozzarella sticks...which yes all filled with cheese! Wings were great!!! Happy hour wings...12 for 12$! Deal! Chilled glasses...we love that! Good sized TVs all around. We will go back for sure. Especially for sports outings.

The food is always cooked order and there's a large selections. We had the hamburger and pizza we were very happy. My husband absolutely loved to the pizza and he's very picky. They have lots of monitors so there's always entertainment to watch and if you're into sports, this is definitely your place. We went there the second time and they were playing live music. Very impressed. Service is amazing and the OWNER is always right there to make sure that everybody is in good hands. Will definitely recommend to anybody

    6 wings with blue cheese

I went here on a recommendation from my parents that went two weeks earlier. My father raved about the filet mignon sandwich, saying it's the best he's ever had and cooked perfectly medium rare. My experience wasn't as good. I ordered the same sandwich and the meat was overcooked. They put 3 filet medallions in the bread with mushrooms and onions. 2 of the 3 pieces were medium well, and 1 piece medium. No pink or red at all. I didn't taste any seasoning either. The wings cooked perfectly but the blue cheese is nasty. It's not homemade and was warm. I think it's Ken's dressing sitting at room temp. Good wings always come with homemade blue cheese. It's a must for me. I did not complain as the typical response of a restaurant is comping a meal and I don't want that. I would give this place one more chance. Maybe the overcooked steak was a fluke.... Service was excellent. The place was dead so the server only had two tables. The atmosphere is nice and clean. It's much larger than it looks from the outside. I was impressed actually.

    Meat Lovers Pizza w/o Ham

First timers! Auto Inn Tavern has a really cool vibe -- the kind of laid-back, local spot that's easy to hang out at for hours. Loved that they have darts and a pool table, which definitely adds to the fun. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. We tried the wings and the meat lovers pizza (requested without ham). The wings were really good -- juicy and full of flavor. The pizza was solid too! I just personally prefer a thinner crust, so that part is all about your pizza style -- if you like a thicker crust, you'll probably love it. They also have great happy hour and shot specials, which is always a bonus. All in all, a fun place to kick back with good food, cold drinks, and a welcoming crowd. Will definitely be back!

Two sauces two toppings--marinara and pesto for sauces, pepperoni and sausage for toppings. It has a very thin crust. It was absolutely delicious! You could fold the crust and eat it NY style. Plenty of flavors and the crust had just the right chewy texture. All in all I can't say I could find any flaws in the pizza. I could eat it every week if I lived closer.

The pizza was excellent great crust, quality toppings, the kind of pie that reminds you why you came here in the first place. And the Tribute? Smooth, easy drinking, perfect pairing for a pizza night done right. Service was solid, no complaints there. Friendly, attentive, got the job done. But. That pizza took its sweet time coming out. We're not talking a little wait we're talking enough time to really get acquainted with that bottle of wine. Look, good pizza takes time, I get it. But when you're hungry and staring at an empty table, every minute feels like ten. And then there's the thing I can't unsee. Watched one of the staff folding pizza boxes, and she dropped one on the floor. Picked it up. Folded it. Put it right back in the stack like nothing happened. Now, maybe that box never holds anyone's pizza. Maybe it gets tossed later. But from where I was sitting? Suspect. That's the kind of thing that sticks with you. The Verdict: The Don pizza is excellent, the wine selection is on point, and the service is perfectly fine. But the long wait and that questionable box situation keep this one at four stars. Grimaldi's, we love your pizza just tighten up the details.

They have cute pics on the wall. We enjoyed the atmosphere. It was not busy at 5:00 pm on the Saturday after Christmas. However, our server Emily said they had a large lunch rush and that they have been steadily busy since opening July 2025. We also love wings, so we ordered 10 lightly tossed with hot sauce. Like other reviews, I can confirm that the wings are large, juicy and meaty. The hot sauce wasn't terribly hot and had a bit of a sweet taste to it. The accompanying ranch dressing tasted home made. Our pizza was a meat lovers with extra cheese. Toppings included Sausage, Pepperoni and Bacon. It was very meaty. But, the best part of this thin crust pizza is that their crust is crispy, which we love after living in St. Louis for many years. In fact, if they used provel cheese vs mozzarella, it could stand in for a St, Louis style pizza. Very tasty, we loved it. Emily was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We met the owner who is the cook and she was also very friendly. We loved the signed bills on the wall, so we added one of our own. We will look for it during our next visit. It is for certain that we will return!
