Arts & Eats was definitely a neat spot to check out. It's a café and working art gallery combined, which made it feel really unique. We spent time walking around looking at all the artwork while waiting for our food, and there was a lot to see. They also had a big selection of seasonal specials, which was fun. I ordered the Island Vibes Punch, which was supposed to have coconut, pineapple, and matcha. I was expecting something more like a piña colada with matcha, but it ended up being really citrus-heavy and honestly kind of strange, not in a good way either. Two people in our group ordered it, and both drinks actually tasted different from each other. The food took a while to come out, probably around 20-30 minutes, but the staff was super nice and apologized several times. The food itself was okay. My sandwich could have used more filling because parts of it were mostly just bread. Overall, I'm glad we went because it was a cool experience and a fun place to explore, but it's probably not somewhere I'd go back to regularly. read more

I went to visit the Arts & Eats Cafe for lunch and to meet some ladies for a Red Hat Society Event. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who helped explain to me their many menus and different dishes and drinks they offered. I ended up ordering a Fresh Summer Salad with a glass of their signature Lemon Ginger Iced Tea. Everything was delicious! I really liked their interior decor and how it was like an art museum inside and so colorful. It was neat that everything around was for sale inside as well. Love this spot!! This is a super cool little shop with those you love local art. I mean local, not famous artists. So as you sit and enjoy some real tasty options you can not only admire but get creatively motivated! The girls who were working were super sweet and very helpful. I liked going g in the middle of the day because my friend and I had a room to ourselves. Its a little breakfast/lunch place but was open for dinner this special night (Art Show). You order at the counter and then find a seat. The place is unusual with numerous rooms and (of course) art everywhere. When ready, they find you with your food. The menu is not huge. The kitchen is not big, so orders take a few. Looking for a quick lunch, walked in, immediately greeted and asked if we'd been there before. After saying, "no" we got the rundown on the menu and that there's artwork on the walls for sale. I ordered the grilled cheese (your choice of 4 cheeses) and tomato soup combo. Both excellent. Husband got the chicken salad croissant and needed a fork to eat it, the croissant was overflowing with delicious chicken salad. Prices are reasonable and it's very quaint. Just discovered this place while perusing the Saturday Green Market at the Alliance of the Arts. It's in the old Democratic Headquarters building. Really unique idea of combining the arts and coffee shop/cafe. Fun to look around at all of the arts and chat with artists. The cold brew was delicious, and the owner was very personable. I my wife and another couple stopped in to try this little cafe on ​McGregor. It was an interesting little place. We placed our order and sat right down as there were maybe 4 other people in the place. We chose to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. We received our coffee and lattes as we stood at the counter. Our friends got their food in about 10 minutes. My wife about 5 minutes later. She reminded the server that I was still waiting on food. About 15 minutes later, I still did not gety order. After a total of about 45 minutes I walked back inside. I could talk to the cook through a window. He said he was working on my food after asking what I ordered. About 10 more minutes it was ready which tells me he wasn't being honest and only started my order when confronted. Now some 50 minutes or so have gone by since we ordered. I asked if I could just have my food to go as we had been there for so long. Not sure what else I could have done to be served what I paid for. The two employees that were there were very nonchalant about the mishap. The coffee and lattes we're great. My friends and wife said they liked the food. I'll never know. I wrote a review of my experience on Google Maps. I received a sarcastic rather rude reply. Excuses were made about some event that was taking place next door and they were so busy they couldn't keep up. Yet, my friends and wife were served in about 15 minutes. We were the only ones at the counter ordering at the time. I did not notice any appreciable number of people entering the cafe. When I went back on to inquire about my food, there was no one at the counter. It's why I was able to hold a conversation with the cook. So, no apology was given from the employees present or the owner who replied to my review. The owner was not sorry for the mishap but only angry over the low rating. Instead of apologizing and trying to make things right, they chose to blame me. Think twice before you patronize this establishment. read more
