I'd never been to this place before. I brought my vehicle in for an issue and received a callback the same day. I was optimistic about the speedy response until the person on the phone quoted me a price. It was much, much higher than I'd ever paid for a simple repair. But, my auto knowledge is limited. I assumed the parts needed must've been expensive. I agreed, and after several days (apparently they were having trouble getting a part) my vehicle was ready. When I arrived to pick it up I looked through the receipt before paying to find that the bulk of the cost was actually labor. The labor cost was nearly 3x the cost of the parts needed. On top of that the final cost was nearly $150 more than what I was quoted over the phone! I will say that the issue with my vehicle was fixed. So, apparently they do competent work. That's the only reason I didn't give a lower rating. However, I won't be going back. This interaction did teach me a lesson, though. In future I will ask about labor costs upfront as I'm sure I could've gotten this repair done for a much more reasonable price at a shop that charges much more reasonable rates for labor. I would advise anyone thinking of getting auto repair work done at this place to be wary and prepared for the cost. read more

took my 06 f350 in for all new brakes (pads,rotors,calipers). one of the pads had separated causing the old caliper to hyper-extend & rupture, had NO brakes at all!! within a couple hours they had the JOB DONE!!! gave me a good price and did a perfect job on them, work like new now, PLUS A 2 YEAR WARRANTY!!!(or 24,000 miles) will be taking my other truck there soon for heater issues. receptionist/secretary LYNN very personable and easy to work with, all employees awesome as well!!(had a issue with my brake pedal moving from side to side, couldnt find the right used part, so the mechanic removed it so it could be repaired(welded). they work with you, not against you like some shops!! will recommend to all friends and family too!! read more

My husband took our van there last year . Horrible service, it took longer than a week and they scammed us , after we paid 4k for the "repair" they gave us the van back and it was still not repaired. I brought my car in on a Wednesday to get checked out for brakes, after about an hour or so they diagnosed the issue and ordered the parts. I dropped it off Friday night and they called me Saturday morning saying it was all set. A couple days later the manager messaged me and asked if everything was working well. Overall good experience. They were able to diagnose and repair my car within one day and were up front about pricing. The only reason why it's not a 5/5 is because I was halfway home when I realized that the check-engine was still on and hadn't been cleared. SCAMMERS!! Mark Sullivan the owner of this business was fired from Novi motors for scamming a customer years ago. Till this day he still SCAMS customers at this location. Mark Sullivan worked at Novi motors as a mechanic and said he replaced a brake master cylinder. The customer who is a good friend of mine doubted this repair by Mark Sullivan and took the vehicle in question to the dealership where the mechanic verified that the brake master cylinder was never changed and that it in fact was the original one that was put on the vehicle when it was manufactured. My friend returned to Novi motors with this proof from the dealership and Mark Sullivan was promptly fired for attempting to SCAM a customer. read more

My girlfriend's 2016 Ford Fusion tires almost wore out and were dangerous on ice and snowy, wet roads this winter. Auto Lab replaced them (great deal from Tirerack.com) and didn't charge much. Now the new Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires do a great job on snow and ice for all-season tires, and are fantastic on the road, great grip, comfortable, low noise. She swears by Auto-Lab, they always do a great job. read more

This guys doesn't have idea about auto issues. They changed my cars battery and starter, and charged 866 dollar. But these two parts haven't any issued. Main problem is in engine. They said i need to changed engine its about 8700 dollar. :P When is came to road my car stuck again in road. Then i have to towed it in another auto repairing shop. I went there shop to get my old batter and starter, they asked i need to pay 40 dollar for my old starter :P It was my loss project to drooped of my car in auto lab. I was charged $1,200 to replace the hood latches and cables to open the hood...and in that $1,200 they DID NOT replace the mechanism where the cable attaches inside of the car. Now that I moved out of town the repair needs to be done yet again... AFTER I took the car back to Autolab AFTER for the same problem.... I wasn't convinced it sounded or behaved like a transmission issue, so I took it elsewhere. My daughter took her 2007 Honda Accord in for a flat tire and Auto Lab said the wheel was too damaged and needed to be REPLACED and quoted "around $500". When she picked it up the bill was $225 for a "wheel repair" plus $305 for new tire and alignment. Within a week it was flat again. This time she took it to Discount Tire and they rotated the wheel to the rear and replaced 2 tires for $400. Two months later and Discount Tire's repair is holding up fine. A few weeks later the air conditioner wasn't working and she took it to Auto Lab (I don't know why) and they said the condenser needed to be replaced ($1200). I recommended she take it somewhere else so she took it to American Auto Repair and they replaced a blown compressor evacuation fuse, recharged and tested for leaks ($170). Either Auto Lab is incompetent or they're fraudulent. read more

Never take your car here. I don't even feel like spending the time to write a long drawn out review for this place because it has already drained so much of my time in the last few weeks. They broke a seal going into my transmission from the axle, claimed it wasn't their fault, charged me $87 to fix the seal they broke, and then told me my transmission fluid was low and they would replace it for another $80. $80 to replace the fluid that they caused to leak! There were several other infractions within the time I took my car here, but I was always willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The guy at the front desk (Bret) is a nice guy, but that's about it, and honestly that is most likely why I kept bringing my car back. But when it comes to nearly blowing out my transmission (2004 Accord), I'm going to draw the line. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Was just here - lobby is clean as is customer bathroom. Diagnostics are 60% MORE expensive here than at other shops. However they DO have a Road Force Balancing Machine - I'm sure that cost them a ton, gotta pay it off somehow. Tires are 31% MORE expensive if you get them here... Personnel are great - very informative, FAST and courteous BUT I have to echo the other reviewers observation - VERY SLOPPY WORK! They left all my RARE lugnut protective covers improperly installed where they could have flown off while driving and caused damage to my car or even another persons vehicle or even a pedestrian. I would not utilize these people for tire or wheel work. Will keep them in mind for other repairs read more

They are always kind when fielding my incessant and ridiculous chicks-know-nothing-about-cars questions, and answer with clarity and humor. I was a first time customer here, and I drove from Ann Arbor just to have new tires put on my car (I had ordered winter/snow tires from Tire Rack). The tires were delivered on a Friday around 2:30 - I called the store, Bret answered and said "Come on over" - SAME DAY! I drove over, they got me right in, were able to install the tires and do an alignment (never had one done before and with 70,000 miles on the car, I figured it was time). Their waiting room is small, about 4-5 chairs, but clean and warm. They have state of the art tire balancing here, which I recommend. I really couldn't be happier with my experience here. While I was there I got a quote on shocks - I usually go to Japanese Auto Professional Service in Ann Arbor for all my car care needs, but I will keep Auto-Lab in mind if the need arises. The next day mid morning we received a phone call of what the issue was (break pads and rotors) and what the cost would be. It was less than we thought and gave them the green light. They had it fixed that day and took payment over the phone. The only ``issue`` that we had was that they forgot that we were dropping our car off. I called ahead of time and had it all set up but when we dropped the car off they called the next day and asked me why I dropped it off and what needed to be looked at. I went in to have a headlight changed and my windshield washer fluid wasn't working. I ended up sitting there for 2 hours and paying over $170 for my headlight and for them to tell me it was my washer pump (which was going to be another $130 to have replaced). So I declined that and left there $170 poorer and with one thing done: a new headlight. The guy running the front said we could "discuss it" if I was unhappy with the charges, but I had told him several times that I had to leave to pick up my child from daycare before they closed so I didn't have time to stand and argue over cost. I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one because he offered to talk about the charges when he saw I was unhappy, because they did have to drive somewhere to get the correct headlight, and because I realize it's difficult to change the headlights in my model of car, but $100 in labor to change a headlight seems excessive regardless. This isn't our first experience feeling way over-charged there. I won't be going back. read more

Stay far away from this place if you are a female. My daughter went here to get her A/C fixed. She was quoted about $300. When they were doing the repair they called and said it required more work and they had to tack on another couple hundred. Total bill was about $532. She drove it for about a week and guess what? The air stopped working. She took it back up there and low and behold they wanted another $500! I called and talked with them and was informed that its kind of a process of elimination thing which could end up costing up to around $1800! If they would have told her that in the 1st place she would have opted to not get it fixed. She only paid $2000 for about 6 yrs ago!!! When I told the guy this he said well I guess I could have explained it better! Easy to say after you pretty much robbed a young hard working girl of over $500!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! First, I called a few different places and got a repair total. This place had the best price. I then took my vehicle there for them to work on it. About an hour later, they stated that the cost would be more because they did not take into consideration the type of engine it had and labor would cost more. I hesitantly agreed. Once they took apart the part that was the issue, they then called me again a lot later in the day stating there was more damage then they anticipated. They said the bill was going to be over double of what they had told me. I told them i didn't want them to do the repair. They then stated that they could not put it back together the way it was. So at this point, I was forced to have them fix it for over double the price they told me it was going to be. They also stated they could get it done the same day as I brought the vehicle into the shop early in the day. It wasn't done until late the following day. I am never going to go back there again and I must suggest you don't believe what they say it's going to cost. I needed my vehicle back and was at their mercy. read more
