First off, I only found auto logic by accident as a repair shop. I have been putting off my timing belt change on my Accord for months now, but have not found a shop that i trust as i have had a bad experience with another shop in the east bay (jay's autoshop). i initially was looking for a sandwich shop when the bright green building caught my eye. i decided to stop by see what kind of work they were doing and was extremely surprised to see various cars being worked on. i saw a Bentley, a C6 Corvette, a UPS truck, and an Acura being worked on. the place looked meticulous; some of the shops i have been to in the past have had oil all over the floor, wrenches and other tools scattered around. Auto logic was surprising spick and span clean. I am an anal person, so little things like that bother me. to me, if a shop is dirty and messy, then they will do dirty and messy work. so after stalking the place for 5 mins, i decided to talk to one of the guys in the front. his name was Joe and he was very polite and answered all my questions. he gave me a fair quote for the parts and was able to coordinate around my schedule to get the timing belt done. he did not present me with the hard sales approach with trying to sell me more things than i needed, which i liked. so i bit the bullet and decided to schedule an appointment for the following saturday to have the work done. i dropped the car off first thing the morning saturday and returned later in the afternoon. to be honest, even though everything seemed well, i was still uneasy about the overall situation just because of my past experiences. i hope i had not made a mistake with this shop bc i know messing up a timing belt would cost me an arm and a leg, as well as a huge headache bi*ching at the shop. i walked in and joe was discussing some work. they greeted me and told me everything went smoothly. as they were handing my keys, he also told me that they fixed my front turn signal light (it hasn't been working in 3 months!) free of charge! i was very happy with this and the car ran great! i've driven it for 2k miles now and so far so good. auto logic is the place to take your car, no matter if it's a sportscar, family van, or a ups truck lol thanks joe! read more

Great service, but above that GREAT skill! Ken and Joe were wizzes at finding where a weird noise was coming from. Long story short, they fixed everything and now the car sounds amazing again! They also noticed that some belts were loose and tightened them up free of charge. Of course, mention Yelp and you'll get that multiple point inspection as well. While other shops were telling me my turbo was ready to give in, Auto Logic and Limitless Motorsports reassured me that they were positive it wasn't the turbo. Thank goodness! It's comforts me to see that they have similar performance cars of their own, so do not hesitate to bring your subie here! I will never go back to Midas. This is definitely my new auto shop stop. They explained everything so thoroughly in words that I (for the most part) could understand. Great service and even offered me a ride before they worked on my car so that I wasn't stranded. Did a lot of preventative care things to my car that other places otherwise probably wouldn't. They don't just offer free inspection, they provide it for every car and service. I got my timing belt replaced (and a bunch of other things), and they even threw in a free oil change and coolant for me. joe basically took my car apart 4 times and put it back together at my request without fuss so that i could get the ride height and suspension aligned to within milimeters of what i wanted. He did it with pic updates and told me how the build was going daily. He really loves what he does and it shows. from track cars to daily drivers, he is methodical in prepping the car for a desired purpose and explains very well how certain settings affect the performance characteristics. he's courteous and very prompt. Joe is freakin amazing! I called in the morning of to see if I could get an appt for my engine light. Joe said I can come in anytime and I told him I'll be there in one hour. I called again to see how long the service would take and he mentioned that he needs to read my code first and then give me an estimate. That sounds about right to me. I came down, met the guy, and he took out his trusty code reader. He told me my gas cap was not tight enough (got eye rolled by the boyfriend) and did not charge me a cent. I was so happy and relieved to find out it was a minor issue. He could easily lied and said I needed some major work. I will be back for more services at Auto Logic. read more

totally awesome place. i brought my benz ml500 to fix minor squeekage when turning, they had benz specialists there to tell me what the problem was. gave me more info that i didnt even know about benz!!! after that, i brought in my celica gt and got my exhaust done next door. purs like a beast. the master welder there has been doing this for a long time and he knew exactly what i wanted. both places gave me very good prices. im coming back for any work needed. very cool staff. major props to joe and the crew! -sam read more

Joe and his crew run a clean and professional shop that I can trust for a lifetime, not only they are knowledgeable and helpful, they gave me the BEST deals I could find in any other shop. (considering I called quite a few places for quotes) They were honest and didn't try to sell me anything that I don't need like places I've been before and screwed up. Found a mechanic for my 2004 bmw 3series. My car overheated and my brother recommended autologic. good thing these guys are open on a saturday so didnt hav to wait for a week day. Took my car there and Ken was pretty quick to act on it, check it and was able to give me an estimate right away. I ordered my own parts and he gave me a reasonable price i camt refuse! Nxt day everything was fixed! He will tell u exactly what u need, unlike other shops will try to sell u sumthim u really dnt need. He was pretty straight up amd stuck with his prices. No surprises no worries. I got my car out in no time. Now my baby is back yo normal. And filled up my washer fluid without charging me and he didnt even brag bout it. Jut found out wen i got home! This shop is a great place. Joe and Ken were extremely helpful. I was having issues with my Audi A4's clutch, so initially, I brought my car to the dealer. As always, the dealer was trying to hustle me, so I had to shop around. I came across Auto Logic through Yelp, and I have nothing bad to say about this place. On my most recent visit, I had my air conditioning compressor replaced (Ken's advice saved me over $200), two tires replaced, K&N air cleaner cleaned (for free!), and a very difficult bulb replaced (see fog lamp on Infiniti G35 6MT). I went to Auto Logic for a used car inspection after reading all the great Yelp reviews and was most pleased by the service. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was only able to get my car to Auto Logic at 3:30pm on a Saturday (when the shop closes at 4pm). Joe cheerfully did the inspection anyway, and then spent a good 10 minutes explaining every item on the report in detail and giving objective advice. We finished a little past 4:30pm. He was very patient and helpful, and I was not made to feel dumb at any stage even though I was very ignorant. When I phoned my father (an auto buff) later, I found that Joe has explained everything that my father would have wanted me to know. I came here to check my 2006 bmw 525i that was recently bought 2 wks ago , it had squicking sound when you step on the brakes. Joseph check it and test it . He said that brake pads are all new. One of the best, I have ever seen. Had my car checked for driving wheel locked issue. They did all the initial verification and gave a quote for 2k. But later they did check for my car callbacks and did mention that I don't need to pay if I go to my dealer. So I didn't spend a single penny. Brought my car in for a smog test here a few months ago, and Ken gave me a discount for mentioning that I found him via yelp. Decided to bring the car back today when my drive belt was cracked and the breaks were making a funny noise. He changes out the drive belt, but then was having problems replicating the break noise, so went out on a test drive with me. Once I showed him when the noise happened, he figure out the issue. Coming from the East coast, finding where to go for things can be trial and error. Luckily I found Ken by chance and now I take both my cars here, Audi and Mercedes, and all of my company Fleet vehicles. As someone who doesn't even like to valet, I trust them completely with my cars. Ken is the best mechanic I've had yet, and I won't take my cars anywhere else even for an oil change. When my Mercedes got hit and needed a lot of body work he recommended a great body shop right around the corner and then stayed late on a Friday to help fix a mechanical issue caused by the accident so I could take my car home that day. Ken, Joe and the rest of the staff are all around great guys, if you need something done or hear a noise or whatever it may be, take it to them and they will tell you honestly what you need to do. I just move from socal and I was looking for good repair shop I could trust in south san francisco, and I was told by my co-workers to check out Auto Logic. I had a 350Z that has been serviced here many times before. Ken & the rest of the guys here are REAL street car enthusiasts, you can immediately tell by their knowledge & experience that comes across their service. Their work is honest and professional grade quality. They may not be the cheapest because the quality of name brand full synthetic oil they use or persistent OEM parts instead of generic brands but that's why I like them! If you spoil your car and take care of it, there's no better place to take your street rocket than this place! If you don't care so much about the value of your car, you might as well go find someplace else that doesn't care too. These guys will do what's right for your car every time. They don't push too hard in trying to upsell another service to you but they do just mention stuff to look out for, which is always nice. Here's a personal example: I had a problem with engine idle on my 350Z a while back. Ken knew of this issue being common with this model year car from friends that have the same type of car, G35 & ran a quick FREE diagnostic check with a OBD2 scanner (check engine light error reader) to confirm which part that was defective. He gave me HONEST advice to do it at a dealership as it requires programming of the engine computer instead of doing it himself. He gave me what should be a fair price for a dealer to sell & install the parts. He called his buddy that he knows at one of the dealerships parts department to order it for me! Problem solved! Yeah, I was very happy & felt comfortable with his help! Another personal example: Having brought my car in for smog checks right next door to Auto Logic, I had an oil change done a few weeks later. My car had very little mileage on it but was overdue for some oil change. Like any other place, they explained what they were going to do & how much it would cost up front without having to drag out an estimate out of them. As a warning, this place doesn't list all their prices of their services on some billboard, so that may scare some people out of feeling cheated from the start. Having said that, they don't take a "one size fits all" approach to their work. So if that bothers you, like I said earlier in this review, look for somebody else to treat your car like every other regular car. Personally, their prices are justified on paper & have reasonable quality in my opinion. Anyways my car was given their synthetic oil (at the time it was Mobile 1 but they use a better oil now called Motul I think) & was told that the process would only take 20 minutes. I didn't have an appointment either, I was lucky! When they finished they also told me that my slip differential fluid was low & so they topped that off for me for free. They went on to say that usually they flush fluids out completely but they only recommend that during the next tune up which wasn't for another 30k miles. They did warn me of stuff that I don't have to get charged for on the tune up due to the fact that its either covered under the manufacturers warranty or that those parts don't require to be changed cause of the low mileage of my car. Good info! Under promise & over deliver! Don't get me wrong, this isn't just an "import market pocket rocket" shop. I've seen commercial vans & trucks both domestic & import being worked on too, so rest assured its just a friendly group of cool young Asian guys having their own shop to serve you! i used to take my Honda to the Grace dealership; no major problems, but it was annoying crossing the picket lines and it is expensive. these guys are awesome! obviously, prices are better than the dealership, but i wouldn't be here if they weren't also competent. i'm a girl, and i don't know that much about cars; they explain everything and are not condescending. service is usually fast; a few times they needed to keep the car for most of the day; gave me a ride home so i could get some work done, and picked me up at the end of the day - wow!!! they will also clarify if a service is urgently needed, or can wait a while. that's refreshing over other places that try to add on repairs and adjustments, needed or not. after coming here for 2 years, the only minor issue is the railroad construction on San Bruno Ave which makes getting to the shop a little convoluted. read more

I brought my BMW here to get the coolant system checked, they did something and charged me for a coolant flush... nothing was fixed and then when I brought it back in, they said that the coolant tank system has a leak, fixed it and then charged me for a coolant flush again... and here's another one - I did the mistake of showing them some repairs that the Peter Pan BMW dealership diagnostic showed, which I did not trust cos dealerships make money by charging customers needless repairs... Anyway, at Autologic without doing a complete diagnostic of whether a repair was needed - in this case a oil pan gasket leak (a $2K repair), Autologic offered to charge $300 less. When I went to an actual reputed BMW expert garage in the city, they cleaned my car and said there was no issue with the oil pan gasket and the oil leak that was showing previously was residual. My coolant system was fixed, but I got double charged for coolant flush... and they seem to skim over details. So anyway, just be wary... read more

Here's the scenario...my husband had apparently warned me not to drive our 2004 Trailblazer because the brakes were grinding and needed to be serviced ASAP. While at work I was trying to find a place, and since I work really close to Auto Logic (walking dist. about 10 min walk) and I've seen the place before I opted to peep out the reviews on Yelp. I called and spoke with Ken to see if they would be able to take my car and I was set. Dropped the car off at 10:30 am and got a call back from Ken about 20 min later with the estimates. Picked up my car at 3:00 pm and just like that all is right with the car. I have to apologize to Ken and his team. This review is so long overdue. I should start with the fact that I've got 3 cars in various states of "like new" to "how is it still running?". I've taken my cars a handful of times (about 5-6) to Ken and team and they've always done a bang-up job. Here's the breakdown: Customer Service: Ken and team are pretty awesome. They're always friendly and patient with me and my knowledge of cars. I can change spark plugs in older cars and do oil changes but that's about as far as it goes. It's hard to trust mechanics as you're constantly wondering if your wallet is being taken for a ride. These guys are honest, friendly, and they know their stuff. Please note that these are MY experiences. Cost: Auto Logic has always been fair with the money portion. I've taken my older 1997 Honda Civic in for a few things and have always been given presented with the choice of options and outcomes (e.g. solution A will cost a bit more but is better in the long run but we can do option B which we don't recommend but is a bit cheaper). I always appreciate being given the option. Additionally, there have been instances where there's been very minor fixes that they've helped with and "thrown-in" while working on that part of the car. Outcomes: Seeing that all my cars are still running, I've been very pleased with Auto Logic.
