I hate to be writing this type of review because I do not like to negatively affect a business with so many employees, a lot of whom had nothing to do with the situation. One of the employees is even a friend from a church here in Wilmington. However, if you are considering buying from this place I STRONGLY recommend you take the time to read this, especially with a purchase as big as a vehicle. For the sake of a certain salesman, I will refrain from mentioning any names in specific. I will be as truthful as possible even though I am very, very upset about the purchase we made as well as how business was conducted.
My dad and I went to look at one of their cars because my old one constantly had problems and eventually had to go to the junkyard. After looking at it and test driving it in person, we loved it. We knew it was a good brand/model, and it was extremely clean; it was definitely a dream car of mine. We couldn't exactly afford the price it was listed at though. After my dad talked with the salesman on the phone and couldn't agree on the price we wanted, he gave us a little attitude about it being a good deal. Turns out, we actually decided later on that we would spend the money on it at a negotiated price.
The office itself is a little disorganised. They asked for a copy of my license two or three times because they lost the original copy they had made; there are papers sitting everywhere, so that wasn't much of a surprise to me. My dad happened to text the wrong insurance policy number, and so when the salesman was on the phone with a woman employees from Allstate and she was having trouble finding the policy, the salesman was extremely impatient with her and even rude. I could hear the woman at the other end was very upset. At one point, he covered the phone up, looked at us, and called her a "retard".
After paying the entire balance for the vehicle in cash, I drove it away and was very happy with it. However, a week after it failed to start, and when I did get it started and running again, it left me stranded in the middle of Market St. at a busy intersection. I took it back to them, and they sent me to a nearby mechanic and actually paid a little under $1000 to get it repaired, which we were very happy about. I will say though, whenever I spoke to the salesman on the phone, he had a major attitude with me, almost as if I was bothering him and shouldn't have been calling. He even asked me and my dad to contribute money towards the repairs, which we literally could not afford or we would have. The particular repair would have been covered under warranty, but apparently it was too soon after the sale to file a claim.
Only a week after this incident, the check engine light came on again. I followed the instructions on the warranty sheet, which said to call him, and again I was met with major attitude about how he already paid out of his own pocket to fix the car and that I should just bring it to the shop myself. I did. It happens to be a major repair that costs $2000 or more (replacing one, or possibly two of the catalytic converters); we got an estimate from three shops in town.
I texted the salesman that my dad and I wanted to come in the office in person to talk. He called me up soon after yet again with more attitude and told me that he was confused because he got some sort of "text or email" from me, and I again repeated to him nicely that we wanted to come and talk to him in person.
We went to his office the next day. Upon arriving, he didn't look at us in the eye to greet us; he was too busy with other paper work. We explained our situation to him, and we asked what he could do for us. My dad mentioned that it was a little suspicious that all of these problems started happening right after we bought the car, which it is. At that, he got very angry and took it as an accusation, and told us to "get out" of his office over and over five times. His collogue started bad mouthing us as we were leaving.
