They did a full inspection for free and gave it to me straight: about $1,800 for four new tires, brake pads, and rotors. I've known for about 6 months now that new tires were needed. Not exactly cheap, but definitely fair for the work. They also suggested I leave the car so they could take care of it first thing in the morning, since the brakes were in pretty rough shape and not safe to drive on. My truck is making a ticking noise so I dropped it at auto pros. They did their $205 multi point inspection, and I appreciated how thorough they were, even sending me pictures and ratings. I got a call back about 3 hours later saying they wanted to take the valve cover off for $400. Then I got a quote for the potential work and deferred maintenance. $6500+ into a 21 year old truck is out of the question for me. And they hadn't officially find the source of the tick yet. I have been trying to find a good mechanic for a very long time. I've previously learned to accept that whoever I take my car to, will rip me off and that's just the way it is. Auto Pros However, are the absolute best! Ryan in particular has such a good heart and genuinely wants to provide good customer service. The front desk admin Sadie, is super communicative and kind, she always explains absolutely everything very clearly and follows up a few days later to make sure everything is still working well. A big stand out with Auto Pros is the pre-work inspection. They thoroughly inspect the car and take detailed pictures of everything that either needs to be addressed immediately or things that I need to keep an eye on. I can easily access this inspection anytime via a link they send me, and I have been using it as a checklist overtime as I acquire the funds to fix my Mustang. Ryan can also be seen taking his custom Ice Cream truck around to events in Oregon City to give out free Ice Cream to the community. EDIT: I had an initial bad experience, see description below. But Ryan the (owner) impressed me with the multiple attempts he made at requesting I come back to make it right. Apparently a tech had done something wrong or another and Ryan personally saw to it that the issue was resolved. Just like Ryan said to me over the phone after seeing my review and me calling him back, "Trust is a hard thing to earn, and as mechanics we make mistakes, but you know you can count on a shop when we are offering to do right by you and ask for you to let us fix the problem". I will definitely consider the latter of this visit to comeback and do business with these guys again in the future. I brought my vehicle here about a month ago to do a full service inspection on a new for me used vehicle. I got back great information which checked out with a few other places I took it too for 2nd verification. So I was happy with the shop and left a good review for them on the CarFax app. A week ago I got an email saying come in for a free AC checkup. Since its summer time I figured I haven't had any problems with my AC why not just in case since its free. After dropping my car off and waiting an hour, I get back to the front desk to be told by their receptionist that my AC was low and had almost 0 coolant. I thought, that's not right, just before I gave her the keys and she asked me if anything was wrong with my AC and I said no, just wanted to have you guys look at it for the free promo and for possible preventative maintenance. I was quoted $308 to fill up the AC coolant. I stated no thank you and left. As soon as I got in my car and turned on the AC no more cold air at all and just before on my way to the shop I tested it to make sure to tell them how my AC was working. So long story short. If they are offering something free don't try and take advantage, or else you will get taken advantage of. I do not recommend taking your vehicle here. Bait and switch free promo, come in to get something free, which is them creating a free problem, only for you to pay to fix it. Will never be doing business with them again. read more

Since we've moved here, we have brought multiple vehicles here for service. Some of them with major repairs required. We had a Tacoma that needed entire back-end redone, springs, drum breaks, axle bearings, etc. Not to mention new valve cover and oil pan gasket. The team here did an amazing job, they worked hard to find parts at cheaper prices, and got our beloved truck back up and running amazing. They've also helped us over the years with other vehicles we owned like both of our Highlanders, a 3rd gen 4Runner, and our Ford Escape Hybrid. I was struggling to find a mechanic after being overcharged and taken advantage of at other auto mechanics in Portland. Ryan at Auto Pros Car Care was recommended through a friend and I have never had such a pleasant experience with a auto mechanic before. I brought my car to Ryan because I wanted to get it checked out before driving 4,000 miles across the country. I drive a 2000 Honda Accord that had about 208,000 miles on it when I brought it to him. He checked over everything and allowed me to take a look at each part he was inspecting and answered all my ignorant questions without hesitation. To my surprise, he could not find anything needing to be urgently fixed or addressed, but recommended a timing belt and water pump change. I was expecting to hear about changing the transmission fluid, brake fluid, shocks and struts, and other services that places like Jiffy Lube were pressuring me to do - I actually asked Ryan about this and he debunked them all. Changing the timing belt was appropriate as it was due for my car and I had no idea if it had ever actually been done at the recommended 100k service. He wasn't trying to bullsh*t me, he expressed concern that it would much more difficult and expensive for me if the timing belt broke during my trip. I spent $800 on the service as opposed to $2,000+ if the belt snapped. He did not charge me for the inspection, he gave me time to get the money together, and got my car in the shop and out in half a day! Remember, when I saw him I had less than a week left in Portland - he worked his schedule to get me in and out for the inspection and service in a timely fashion. Working on cars is more than a business for Ryan, it is his passion. He is honest, trustworthy, and a genuine human being. He cares about his work and will not recommend any work that doesn't absolutely need to be done. Since seeing him, I have recommended him to several friends and my partner and they all have similar things to say. I cannot thank him enough - I am finally driving my car with confidence. This is actually a review for the shop on Washington in Oregon City, but since they don't have a separate Yelp page I'll have to leave my review here. Ryan is probably one of the most kind and decent human beings I've met in a long time. He's fixed my husband's old beater a few times, replacing the oil line, checked out weird noises, etc. Last night I got a flat 2 miles from home in the dark during high traffic and I wasn't sure I could drive my Jeep up the steep hill we live on without causing further damage. It was after-hours but I called Auto Pro's just in case someone would be there and Ryan answered! They don't service tires but he said he'd open the garage door and to come on by and he'd see if he could air it up or put the spare on for me. He did the latter and we chatted the whole time. I've been going to this shop for a few years now, and it's the best auto repair shop I've been to. They are consistently honest and reliable, and do great work for less than others charge. When I had a front-end collision and thought my car might be totaled, they got it straightened out and fixed in just a few days for less money than I ever would have expected. When Toyota dealership wanted several hundred bucks to "diagnose" the problem with my A/C, they diagnosed it for free and fixed it for less than Toyota's diagnostic charge.
