My son turned me on to this place year ago and I couldn't be more pleased with how it's all worked out. It began as a relief to find a competent shop where others had failed in the technical aspect of diesel diagnosing, but evolved into more of a one stop place where I appreciate having a relationship. Why go to a separate muffler shop, repair facility, rear axle rebuilder, or diesel diag tech when I could go see a couple of familiar faces in a single location. John and his right hand Kenny are both the kind of genuine fellas I'd invite to a backyard cookout. They remember my name along with my various vehicles and in an increasingly less personal AI age, I guess I really appreciate the positive personal interaction. I got a pickup, diesel, a couple months back and I want to establish service with a place. I really liked Sunnyside's website and services they offer, and solid Yelp reviews. My pickup is stock and I think it can benefit from some exhaust and cold air intake upgrades. But first, I need to get the oil changed... Emailed on July 23rd about oil change. Got reply same day, good price quote, very excite. I replied back requesting to schedule service and left my phone number, no reply. I called, no answer. Called again. No answer. Called 7/31 at 11:30 am, talked with John. He said he was not at the shop, asked that I call back in an hour... called back 2:21 pm left voicemail... and the dance continues... all the way on over to Jiffy Lube. Two stars because I did get one sentence in email and 46 seconds of conversation with John, both of which were pleasant and professional. I still think they look like a good place, unfortunately I don't have any more time/miles to spend chasing a response for an appointment. read more

Please stay away. the guys at this shop are always hanging out drinking in the lobby. I took two cars there and both broke down one a week later and most recently I took my Bmw in for a water pump Couple hrs later they called me that is fixed. the car broke down on the way home. i have taken my Bmw to a different shop and they told me that they did not do any work on it. they just charged me for nothing. read more

I showed up early for my appointment. They told me to come back another day. Total flakes.

Brought my Dodge 2500 Diesel to them after a week of trying to schedule an appointment said they could fit me in early at !0 a.m. (they were always too busy) to get my exhaust system changed from 3 inches to 4 inches. they said they had a special for $389.00 out the door for a complete exhaust system. I live in Vancouver and had to drive to Clackamas, still thought it was a good deal after researching other local places. I got there, and in the waiting room sitting in a chair is the owner eating something nasty, making disgusting noises while eating. he said "Josh" has an Alignment in front of me so I need to wait for that first. So while I was waiting (1.5 hours) I looked around the small waiting room, very Nasty, all the fabric chairs had grease and dirt on them. He had a big flat griddle still hot on top of a small refrigerator that had the remains of his nasty meal that smelled the whole room up. He just sat there with me for about 45 minutes looking smug and sucking through his teeth. Saw a big flat screen on the wall not on. (probably broken) Meanwhile the whole time I was there the mechanics were playing a Michael Jackson Marathon in the shop not too loud, but it was annoying after the 3rd song. The floor in the waiting room hadn't been mopped in 5 years. When they were almost done with my truck, he asked if I wanted to buy a Stainless Steel Exhaust tip for $50? I said No I thought it was a Complete Exhaust Kit I was buying? (Found one on E-bay for $10.00 when I got home) No one came in the whole time I was there, although I heard him trying to apologize, and make amends to a customer that was upset about the price for his service. I had to go Pee after 2 hours but didn't want to look at their bathroom, so I just held it. When I paid him he said $400.00 - What? This is Oregon, The price should have been $389.00 at that point I just paid him and wanted to get the heck out of that Dump. I gave him cash, he didn't give me a receipt, no Nothing. I'll bet the IRS would like to speak to him. Then as I got in my truck, I saw my old exhaust parts lying there on the ground. He removed my Catalytic Converter, which I don't care, but they make BIG money reselling those. I felt like telling the guy, I want that back! The guy is a Scumbag, he's not even good at kissing your butt when you talk to him, you can tell right away he is a fake, just another scammer. read more

I've had several issues over the last couple years with my older, high mileage Toyota. Every time I've had a problem with my truck, I've taken it in to John to get it fixed. They communicate exceptionally well with time estimates as well as costs. They even called me while they were working on it when they noticed that I had a leak on the output shaft and let me know that they were taking care of replacing the seal for me and they still had it finished on time for me to pick up. They are always helpful and have always been professional with me and have taken great care of my truck. read more

I brought my car here because it was stalling and it was diagnosed as having a bad distributor and would be about $600 to repair, I hesitantly said to go ahead and fix it even though I just had the distributor replaced about 10,000 miles prior. After several days I received a call from John who told me the distributor didn't fix the stalling problem and it would be at least another $800-$1000 to replace the entire ignition system which he thought "Might" fix the problem. Owner wouldn't release my car until I paid him $600 for the distributor even though it didn't fix my car, at that point I told him just to keep the car. Seems that the owner doesn't remember my Black 1994 Buick Roadmaster that he seized from me, but I assure you this did happen. read more

I took my 2003 E150 van into Sunnyside Automotive for some repairs. I will never use them again and will tell ever I know of that this place will rip them off. When they pulled the valve cover ( ask for replacement ) the mechanic asked John to take a look. Twice I might add. I guess John is to busy playing big shot instead of people's cars. At any rate, the mechanic stated that there was a considerable amount of sludge. The spark plugs were also covered in oil. John never did bother to call me and tell me that all the work he was doing would be for not, that the engine was bad. He also never returned calls. They also left my keys in the van. Smart move. The day after they so called fixed my van and charged me $615 the engine blew up. I have never minded paying for quality service, but feel that this shop ripped me off. read more

My seat belt suddenly stopped retracting on my car. John @ Sunnyside Auto was able to fit me in the same day (within the hour!) to take a quick look at it. Thankfully, it was a quick fix and I was on my way in about 15 minutes. John was super nice and was very helpful. I would definitely go back to this shop for any future repairs. read more

Great customer service!! I just bought a used SUV from this place. They were very easy to work with and quick with the paperwork. 35 miles into my drive home (2 hours away) the car died, alternator went out. Sunnyside quickly called me when they found out about the issue, they paid for the tow, and they fixed the issue as quickly as they could with no additional fee to me. They also had staff member drive my car and met me half way home so I wouldn't have to do the long drive again. Thank you so much for all you did. I would never step foot back in this shop. John was cold and short with me. This was the worst costumer service I have received in a long time. Parts for my car were supposed to be over nighted to the shop. I called the next day around 1pm and got voicemail which I left a message and never heard back. I called again and John said he would look for my parts and call me right back and he never did. I finally went to the shop and John and another worker were sitting in the lobby with their feet up and on the cell phones. He at that point advised me he didn't have my parts. I wasted an entire day on something they could have simply called me about. I left in tears. Horrible way to treat customers. read more

John was great to work with. As was Jason. We had an issue where the book time that was quoted didn't account for some labor they ended up having to do. Obviously with book time being the only objective measure, I was hesitant to absorb that labor cost myself. John was accommodating and fair and agreed to a compromise. Misdiagnosis that cost me $1,300 I was haveing a problem with my van stumbling during the warm up process. I replaced many parts and it didn't correct the issue. I took it in to Sunnyside Automotive on 152nd and Sunnyside road in Clackamas and asked them to scope it. the next day they called me and said it had a blown intake gasket and it would cost $1,000 to fix. I thanked them and payed $91 via credit card and instructed them to lock the extra key in the van and I would come pick it up. I picked up the van and the key was nowhere in sight. I took the van to another shop to have the intake gasket replaced. $1,000 later they started it up and it had the same exact issue as before. I called sunnyside auto and inquired about the disdiagnosis and the missing key. The tech I talked to said it wasn't a misdiagnosis. I asked him if they scoped it. He said no, "we visually inspected it" and the key "is sitting next to me on the counter". Turns out that it was a common "TSB(technical service bulletin) for a distributor issue on my vehicle. If they would have put it on a scope as I requested, the correct diagnosis would have been made. I have yet to hear back from John on a refund and this issue is yet unresolved. I would not recommend this shop based on my experience there. Initially I was referred to them from a current customer of theirs. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! NEVER EVER GO HERE. Took my car in for a 60,000 mile tune- never had problems before. After a while the engine started to smoke. Took my car back 3 times. Finally took it to another shop that showed me where they tried to jerry-rig the head in place using washers and silicone. Needless to say all the oil leaked causing a busted piston and the need for a whole new engine. He blamed me. I am female you see and I must have been driving my vehicle without oil and I did this. I did not install improperly sized bolts and then try to glue the head together. He takes no responsibility. No Shame. No conscience. read more

Fast, friendly. Took my 02 Cavalier in to bleed air out of the clutch fluid lines, took all of five minutes and no charge. This was my second trip in, service was as good the first time as the second. Definitely will visit again when my car needs any work done. read more

I do not recommend this automotive shop. I was in a pinch, my car was immobilized by icy/inclement weather conditions, and the nearest location to be towed to was Sunnyside Automotive. I was lucky and happy that they would take a look at my car same day, so that I will give them. But, the customer service was terrible. The only number you can use according to the website, is some guy's personal cell number. I tried to call numerous times (it was a Friday, so I was nervous about not having my vehicle all weekend), and I could not get through to him, could not leave a message due to the inbox being full, and there was no land line to call to talk to someone at the shop. I could not go to the shop to inquire in person, because I had no vehicle. So, I finally get ahold of the owner/person in charge, Monday, late morning. And he was surprised that I hadn't talked to anyone about my car on Friday, still didn't know exactly what needed to be done, nor had I received an estimate, let alone a figure for the bill, which turned out to be over $300, and the bill may/may not have been fair, I really don't know, but it was a large amount that I needed to know about ahead of time. The staff and all folks involved were unprofessional, way too lax, and have much to learn about customer service and communicating with humans. read more

I brought my car in for an oil change and asked the owner to also give it a quick once-over, because I had just bought it used. They did the job in about half an hour, while I waited in their noisy and very dirty waiting room. When it was done, the owner told me that my car needed a new belt and a new axle seal. He did not charge me for the oil change; instead, he asked me to write a review of his shop on Yelp. I felt it was manipulative. It was my first time there and I have no idea how good a job they did or even what kind of oil they used, therefore I don't have enough information to judge their work. When I came to this site to write this review, I saw the notice "Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review[.]", which makes sense and confirms my sense that the owner's request was inappropriate. read more
