Trust is a fleeting thing 890 bucks to flush radiator and heater core change out thermostat Add coolant and changed radiator cap. After a month or so the coolant was brown took back the guy said it was an old truck and rust turned the coolant brown then he wanted to put in a thermostat then I said you already did that. Now he said my hoses needed to be replaced and the mother is iron and it rusts that it probably needs a flush again. Ok sure fine but for 890 bucks I sure thought a more complete job would have been done. I'm upset with myself. I went there for something I could of done For that kind of money for a flush and thermostat cap and fluid Should of been a lot less My fault for the trust read more

We used to take our car to In & Out Auto Care. This last time, they told us we had an oil leak, & there's oil in one of the spark plugs. $3000 to fix it. We took the car back to our daughters, & she ordered an oil pan gasket. After it arrived, she & her friend went to fix it. NO oil had ever been in the spark plug. There was a pile of rodent poop, & the wire to that one spark plug was gnawed. In & Out charged us $135 to 'diagnose' our car, but didn't even look in the engine. Our daughter & her friend repaired the wire, changed the spark plug, & it runs like a dream. CAN NO LONGER BE TRUSTED!!! read more

Usually going to a mechanic is a stress-inducing event for me and obviously, it still was upon going there but the staff there are incredible. When I dropped my car off they were very friendly and were VERY quick to assess it and figure out what was wrong. They then called me and explained very thoroughly what was going on and what were the highest priorities in needing to be fixed without being pushy at all. After deciding what to fix they were then SUPER quick about getting my car back up and running again and I swear, it has been running even better than I expected since I took it to In & Out Auto Care! Will definitely be taking my car back here for future needs. Oh and if you need an oil change its actually probably one of the cheaper and quicker places to get it done so don't go to those big name places anymore, just bring your car here! read more

My car had a major issue, and the water pump was going out. He took in my HHR and had it fixed, and would not let it come home until he made darn sure everything was working great. It's nice to meet an honest mechanic and someone who knows exactly what to do at an affordable price to get your car up and running. I just had my car fixed by In and Out auto repair. I had malfunction light and it could've been anything. So they did a computer diagnosis had 2 People Test drive the car and rotated the tires and changed all of my spark plugs. I have a V-8 with two spark plugs per cylinder. Changed the oil, and did what was necessary. He also finished the car in 24 hours or less. He quoted 470 I think. And it came in about 35 dollars under The estimate. I had a $1700 manifold issue repaired here 4 years ago. This year the noise was back as bad as it ever was. I contacted Wayne at In and Out and dropped the motorhome off. Nice guys, but quoted me $450 to replace $40 coolant reservoir. Way too much for a 70+ yr old woman so I bought genuine part for $40 part at local Chevy dealership and installed myself. In & Out either thought I was an easy mark or that I had more than social security! Would never go back there! Shameful! read more

It is , has, been changing a lot lately! They have missed things that should have been caught and , for the first time ever with us, not gotten their estimates in the "ball park". Wayne, a stalwart #2 guy there, has left. I've watched them go through shop personnel like a landslide the past two years. It seems no one stays there longer than 4-6 months and then they're gone. Dan Bare, owner, is truly a gentleman but somethings going on that is hurting his business reputation and we hope it mends itself soon. We expect more of a union shop; the only one around I know of nearby. We'll stick it out a while longer and hope to watch it get back to its old self. read more

I've been going to In & Out for 18 years with all of our cars. Infact, the first car I took there, 18 years ago, is still running strong with 280,000 miles on her. Dan is just the best! I took my ZR1 Corvette to a high end "specialty shop" and got so ripped off! Then I took it to In & Out and of course... Dan fixed it. Repair costs are very fair. We've gone to In and Out Auto Care 3 or 4 times now. They accepted the coupons from Yelp with a smile and thank you, they have a TV and a play area for kids, a sweet dog that loves to come say hi and have you throw his ball, and excellent, affordable, prompt service. Their oil changes are cheaper than Oil Can Henry's. They ordered a replacement part for a vent, it came in two days later, and they installed it within 15 minutes. We had them checkout our undercarriage and engine and they only charged us $25ish for both checking them and the little work/repair they did. The dealership wanted to charge us $125 just to use a diagnostic tool on our car and check the undercarriage. They take pride their work and in being fair to their customers. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Good shop for maintenance and repairs. They dont do body work but are good with standard vehicle repairs, tuneups and oil changes. Edit: I went back recently and had an oil change done for like $40 which was nice compared to oil can henry's or some other oil change place. It only took about 20 minutes and they had a nice waiting room to chill in while the oil change was being done. I asked about chains because the weather reports said ice and snow were coming soon. They had chains for sale that fit my wheels and they were pretty cheap as well. Wayne helped me out with some information on my warrenty/manufacturer recommended maintenance also. Thanks! read more

When they replaced the in-cabin air filter in my daughter's car the vacuumed out a mouse nest ( they told her ) . When they vacuumed it out they said they damaged the fan but were not going to replace it. We were both pretty upset. However, when the owner ( Dan ) returned from vacation he had her car fixed without any cost to her, We had been using them since 2010 and never had anything other than a great experience. They are also a union shop which says a lot for the expertise of the mechanics. read more

I took my wife's car in here to have multiple things worked on/fixed. I discovered them through AAA, and got a discount on my bill for being a AAA member. They were very quick to get the car back to me, and while they did have it, they kept me updated on the status of everything. I paid my bill and amazingly I didn't feel like I was taken advantage of, which I feel is rare with auto shops. A few months have past and my wife's car is still running just fine. Best advice my sister has ever given me is "go to In & Out" and she wasn't suggesting a road trip to California for burgers. It may be sexist but being female, I hate going to the mechanic. I've met several that seem to assume I know nothing about cars (which is actually true) and assume I'll buy anything (not true). After years of going to the mechanic with my car savvy friends and family on speed dial, it was such a relief to find In & Out. As I drive an older car, I need to stay on top of maintenance. They never try to sell me anything that I don't need and they patiently take time to describe anything that may need a little TLC in my car. Wayne always clearly outlines what I need to take care of now and what items can wait. He takes the time to look for the more affordable part and tells me if there is a difference in quality that I might be sacrificing. I no longer live on the East side but I still commute from SW Portland to Gladstone because they are worth the trip. Careful what you buy here. I had a problem with my auto, they diagnosed the problem correctly and fixed. Their customer service was great however when it came to the bill. The part that I needed to fix the auto cost about 75.00 for a top performance part, this place charged me over 230.00 for the part which is about a 300% markup. Talk about highway robbery! read more

OK, very simple review. Wayne and his group are honest to the point people. No "you need this" or "you need that". Just excellent work at the going shop rate. When you're told the car will be ready around 2, expect 1:50-2:10. Not 2:55. Always have been satisfied with their work and at times surprised at the final cost.
