Tina and Allen in the store are very friendly. I've purchased tires for my Ram 1500, my wife's Prius, and my Tesla Model S through the years from Chaney Tire. Each time has been non-eventful. I'm a meticulous individual, and I am always afraid of being on the receiving end of rim damage when getting my tires changed but have never had an issue. I was apprehensive about having them change my Model S tires because you have to put the vehicle in "jack mode" from the touch screen to turn off the air suspension and you need to use "lifting pucks" to lift the car under the side rails. It's not complicated, you just have to know what you're doing. I honestly printed the instructions out - and gave them a copy - and went over the process with a mechanic before handing the car over and everything went great. I also brought my own lifting pucks just to be safe. I appreciated everybody listening to my concern, even though I'm sure they would have been fine. But, you know, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Good pricing, great people, I definitely recommend them. read more

My tire had a large puncture in it that came from running over a deer antler. I had taken it to a gas station and they told me that the hole was too big to repair. So I went to Cheney to buy a new tire. I was helped by Larry, who asked to see it, he then told me that he thought he could fix it and that's exactly what he did. He was very cool and professional. First time here to get all four tires replaced and to check the brakes because our dealer recommended new brakes when we took it in to get recall work done. Traveling back to NYC on a Sunday, I got a puncture in my right front tire. I wanted Continental tires as that is what I already had on the car and they are an unusual size. Even though they were closed on Sundays, the owner responded to an email request. He did not have in stock but ordered two (it was a side wall puncture so couldn't be repaired) and had them first thing Monday morning. They were installed and I was back on the road by 9:30am. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE...EVER!!! I was referred to Chaney's' by a co-worker. They seemed to have the mechanics down pat, but the customer service...not so much. I took my car in at 8:00am (when they open) and had ball joints replaced. I was told it would be 2-3 hours before the car was done. Ok, so I'll go home, get some work done and come back around lunch, right...WRONG!! When I called around noon, they said it would be closer to 2:00pm before my car would be ready. Ok, so I walk to go pick up my daughter from school, because clearly, I had no other way to get her. Well, after 2:00pm I call again, thinking, certainly my car is ready NOW; after all it's been 6 hours on a 3 hour job. Well, again to my disappointment, the car was again, NOT ready!!! This time they tell me closer to 4:00pm and that they meant the job itself is 2-3 hours, but that they had cars from the night before to still finish up. WTH!! Needless to say, I loose it, but not much I can do, considering I'm home with no transportation! I had a 4:00pm doctor's appt, which I would be charged to cancel, since it wasn't 24 hour notice. In my "loosing" it, the person I was talking to Richard, ask me did I tell them when I dropped the car off that I had a 4:00pm doctors appt. Was I suppose to report that to the mechanic!?!?!? When I get there at 4:30pm, eight and a half hours after dropping my car off, I asked about some sort of accommodation. Richard insisted that they did nothing wrong and didn't seem to understand my frustration. Uhhhh, my entire day on hold for what I was told was a 3 hour job, incurred a $50 cancelation fee for the doctor's appointment and you don't understand why I'm angry!!! I have used Chaney since I moved to Bowie many years ago. I have always received quick, competent service at very fair prices. Mechanics as a whole get a bad rap since people just don't understand what has to be done to fix their cars. I have never left feeling cheated or abused (as I have at other shops). They have services 5 different cars for me and I have always been very satisfied. I am not mechanically inclined and would be a good candidate for getting scammed in a shop...I once took in my 10+ year old pickup and asked for a complete rundown of what needed to be done to bring it up to a high standard....basically gave them free reign...Cost me $84... read more

Worst tire shop ever. Poor service that includes grunting, a roaming dog, a dingy waiting area and no explanation waiting. Even worse, the MD safety inspection station located there is used to hustle customers. Had to file complaint with the MD State Police and had to have two troopers meet me there to resolve safety inspection issues. Bottom line, they withheld safety certificate in order to make unnecessary repairs:( Plenty of other tire shops. Pass this one up. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could . Brought car in for a tire patch the technician went to take the spare off the car and stripped 2 lugs , now they want to charge me to fix it . He admitted that he stripped one but not the other . Now my car isn't driveable . I was referred to Chaney's by my daughter who had a positive experience having tires installed. I only needed a flat tire repaired and after calling for an estimate was ok with the price. After dropping my tire off I received a call from Chaney's stating my original price would be more because I needed a tire sensor replaced. I was quoted $165. I agreed to the price however 5 minutes later I called back and requested the sensor not be replaced just the tire repaired. I returned ,after an appointment ,and had to wait while the 2 front line clerks shot the breeze ,with I guess a regular . I requested to pay for services while confirming to the clerk I was only getting my tire repaired . When it seemed to be taking a long time for my tire to be put on the car I went outside and peered into the repair area. Shortly thereafter the repairman drove my car out and took it on a test drive. Long story short the repairman was not informed by the customer service clerk that I had changed my mind about the sensor . I had to wait yet again while the tire sensor was taken off the tire. I thought it was deliberate that no one informed the repairman of my decision. I had to wait a considerable length of time and I will never use this shop again. Extremely poor customer service from someone who was a customer service rep for over 25 years. read more

The place to go for tires and general auto repair. Allen and Robert have great attitude and appreciate your business. Sometimes overbooked which sometimes means you'll be a little late getting on promise of time but still worth the wait. They'll make it right if there is a post repair issue as NO shop is perfect. I've taken all the family cars (6) there for service and they've done a great job. Prices are competitive and Bruno and Rick take the mechanical work very seriously. We recently needed tires for two of our cars: an SUV and a sports car. We literally saved hundreds on each, and I was able to work on my laptop at the same time, using their WiFi. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Sent an email via their website to Chaney requesting a quote for a tire balance and received a response with a quote for 4 tires (apparently the email was from the owner, not customer service). I then used their website process to request an appointment and received an automated email stating I would be contacted within 24 hours. 2 days later after no response, I called the shop, only to be told the employees didn't get the website appointment emails, only the owner did. I then requested an appointment on the phone and was told they needed my license plate number to put my in their system. I was at work, so I didn't have it, so they wanted me to call back (further inconveniencing me). I pushed back and she made the appointment, but said I wouldn't be in their system. Then she quoted a higher price for the tire balance than I was quoted by the owner. After getting a bit upset, she did match the price. After this unacceptable and disjointed service, I emailed the owner and shared my experience, and he had the audacity to blame me for not knowing their appointment process, he disregarded their process inconsistencies and then said their prices had recently increased (how likely is that?) in an attempt to explain the different quotes. By now I had no confidence in this company. If their repairs are anything like their customer service, I'm surprised they are still in business. read more
