We highly recommend this shop. Our 2010 Chevy Express van broke down on a road trip, and we were towed in by AAA. Electrical issues were messing with several systems in our van, most importantly the transmission. This shop has capable and experienced technicians in house, so their troubleshooting and repair was efficient, and got us back on the road quickly. The owner Levi was transparent and professional. The hourly pricing is competitive, and the speed of the work means we came out with great value for the overall job. We brought vehicle in to have transmission worked on. Got a call later that the sun roof was shattered. The owner, "Levi", claims it shattered while it was being test driven and he is not liable for damages. Levi was extremely rude over the phone. Wouldn't answer whether they were insured and bonded. Took out part he had placed to fix transmission and charged us $150. We had to call the police to escort us to pick up the vehicle. Looks like we are now going to have to hire an attorney. read more

Straight up horrible service they lied and blamed me for everything. Bottom line is I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They have no respect for females. They ignored my request to cover my broken sunroof with the tarp I provided. They never picked up the phone when I called so I showed up and my car was soaking wet and had puddles in the cup holder. If Levi was nicer about the situation it would have been very different but I have never been treated so poorly. My truck suddenly died while driving down the road. It would not start after that. The starter wouldn't even crank. Triple A hauled my vehicle to Auto Tech in Jackson. I was on my way home to Salt Lake City. I was uneasy about going to an auto repair facility that I was unfamiliar with. As my GMC Yukon was being dropped off, the owner Levi was just leaving in his truck. It was 6:00 pm on a Friday night. The driver dropping off my truck ran over and stopped Levi and told him of my situation. Levi realized that I was in a pickle. He asked a Technician named Isaias if he would be willing to stay late to help me out. The tech agreed to stay. Oh what a relief. Isaias wore a shirt with a patch that said Master Technician. They pushed my dead vehicle into their shop. The technician started to diagnose the problem. The Power Control Module (vehicle computer) would not communicate with their scanner so the technician had to diagnose the problem without the aid of the onboard computer. I watched as the tech systematically went through the diagnosis procedure. He explained each step as he went. I really enjoyed watching this skilled man weed out the possible causes of the problem. This happened on a Friday Night after work hours. He proved that the PCM itself was the culprit of the problem. The new part will be available Monday if it is in stock at the local GMC parts vendor. I was very impressed by this man's skills and I have an automotive repair background. ISAIAS IS A MASTER TECHNICIAN. I feel very fortunate to have been brought to this place by Triple A. I read some of the other reviews. When I read the negative reviews I can't help but think that some people are never going to be happy. But I also noticed a huge number of 5 star reviews. I had a 5 star experience at Auto Tech!!! This is a top notch operation. I challenge anyone to go anywhere else on a Friday Night at 6:00 and even find someone that will talk to them. If there is not a PCM available on Monday as hoped for. I am not going to be disappointed with Auto Tech. I am still going to be grateful for skilled Technicians and thoughtful owners because I know that they busted their butts to try and make my life easier. Thank you Levi and thank you Isaias. i had such a great experience with Auto Tech! i drove from California to Wyoming in the snow which i am not used to and my cars check engine light when on. i was slightly worried to what it could be, and within 5 minutes of showing up at Auto Tech, they had done the scan to confirm it was a gas lid issue. they filled up my tires with air and made sure everything else in the car was running smoothing. Some one at yelp should combine Levi's Tire Auto and this store together. Levi owns Levi's Tire and Auto / Autotech which is the same address. Our Jeep had transmission issues after we unhitch from our RV. We called every repair shop in Jackson and everyone said they could work on the Jeep but it wouldn't be for 3 or 4 weeks! When we called Levi he was the only one that would be able to work on the Jeep in 4 days. He is a busy shop and we were very lucky to break down at this time. I like Levi's honesty and his employees thorough work. We are full time RVers and when you break down far from home, you never know how competent and honest the repair company is! Levi was able to check out our Jeep and everything was working he and his mechanic both took the Jeep out to see if it would fail and everything worked fine. In the Jeep manual it tells you how to get the Jeep in to flat tow mode, but didn't tell you what the procedure is to get it back into drive mode. I had Levi go over the process of getting the Jeep back into drive mode and guess what? The linkage on the transfer case had problems which is why the Jeep didn't go back into 2 wheel high start making grinding noises. This place is horrible. My wife is on a road trip and noticed her brakes were making noise. She stopped in here to see if they could look at them. Apparently it takes too long to remove a tire and check brake pads as the gentleman who helped her said they didn't have time to look at a safety issue. He put brake fluid in the master cylinder because it was low, which is indicative of low brake pads. My wife took pictures to show me to make sure if it was ok. They then told her if she wanted to make an appointment for later in the afternoon they could take a look. When she went in to make the appointment the person behind the desk said they like to help people when they can, but because she had taken a pictue they wouldn't help her. Who ever this person was is a POS, knows nothing about customer service and should be fired. I hope nobody brings their car here for service. Update. OWNER is a piece of shit. How dare you tell me I have failed as a husband sending her on a road trip without checking her car. Of course I checked her car you stupid piece of shit. I had personally replaced the brakes on the rear of her vehicle. She had been driving for two weeks across the country and back so when she said she heard a noise I told her better be safe and check it out. Even if it turned out to be nothing. You need to take a long look at yourself as a business owner, own your mistakes and stop sleeping with your cousins. read more

I went in and asked them to look over my car and to call me before charging me for anything. The guys I spoke to said there wouldn't be a charge for looking it over. I came back the next day and they told me I owed 100 dollars just for them looking at it and wanted to charge me 700 dollars to replace my alternator. Auto Tech was great in helping me get my truck and camper back on the road. A brake caliper bolt fell out and they had to source a part rather than wait a couple days to get a genuine Toyota part. Auto Tech, especially Levi, was most accommodating and cool-headed in a place where customers were coming in constantly. The staff updated me on the repairs as they were occurring and got me on the road within 2 hours. I see people complaining that a simple fix costs $100 or more, but mechanics need to make a living too and their time is worth money - just like yours. They made repairs to my family auto in a timely manner, resource the correct parts and did it all in one day. They are honest in there cost estimate and approximate labor costs. My family were making a 4000 miles road trip in the summer of 2013. While passing through Jackson our water pump began to fail. I called several auto repair businesses in the Jackson area, only Auto Tech said they could look at it that morning. I brought to vehicle to Auto Tech and they quickly diagnosed the problem and quickly ordered the parts and made repairs. All while the family toured and enjoyed the town on our bicycles. We were traveling in our Motorhome through Jackson Hole and no one would do an oil change for us since we had a Big Diesel Chevy 5500 engine. We called everywhere and even the Chevy Dealership wouldn't do it. Auto Tech not only said they can do it but we drove up and they worked on it right away and were so helpful with a few other issues. We tow a VW Cabrio and our check engine light came on a few days ago and they checked it out and found we had some bad fuel. They gave us some great advice on how to fix that also. This review is more than a year late, but better late than never.... I was on the 3rd day of a road trip from CA through WY in Oct 2013. I had got the transmission fluid changed a couple of days before the trip started. While near Jackson WY, I noticed that my transmission was grinding at low gears. I looked underneath the engine and noticed a steady transmission fluid drip. I stopped driving immediately & got my car towed to Auto Tech. I have never dealt with an auto shop outside of CA and definitely never on a road trip. I feared that looking at my CA plates, these guys would take me for a ride. These guys (both the manager and the tech) were not only cordial/professional, they took the time to show me under the car and explained that the shop back in CA must have failed in screwing the transmission plug tightly. They did the job quickly and their bill seemed to be reasonable to me. I had a great road trip after that! read more

Don't waste your money. I took my brother's truck in for a $60 basic check up. They said the timing belt was an original and water pump, stating I would have to change that soon. I asked them to adjust the clutch and they did not. I was charged $130 for nothing done. The water pump and timing belt were changed at 180k. Go to a place where the techs are trained and know what they are doing...don't go to these flunkies. read more

I was on vacation when my alternator died. The tow truck service towed it here and I was a bit worried because of the reviews. The estimate included replacing the alternator and battery. They over quoted the price of a water pump for my bmw 335 by more than double. They also charged me over $300 for an incomplete diagnostic on my car , which I did not authorize. I was on my way from CA to Yellowstone with a van packed full of camping stuff and 2 teenage daughters. My van overheated on the Idaho/Wyoming border. I called a few places and got the run around. When I asked the tow truck driver who he would recommend, he contacted Auto Tech, got my car in, and they had it fixed the next day. They drove me to pick up a rental car and were extremely helpful. They made a bad situation better, did a great job fixing the problem and I had no further issues the rest of the way home - via Western Colorado and then back to the Bay Area. I cannot say enough good about Auto Tech. Our truck stopped running while towing our fifth wheel. After much discussion with Good Sam a wrecker was sent to tow us 90 miles away for repair. The driver (Forest Cox) recommended we go to Auto Tech less then 30 miles away. Forest was very helpful and waited until another truck came to take our fifth wheel to the RV park less than a mile away and make sure we were okay. The drivers that handled the fifth wheel (Kirby Orme & Kaden Woodie) were also by professional and helpful getting us set-up. The truck was taken to Auto Tech July 2nd and they promised to work on the 4th if necessary because we had an important event inSalt Lake City and he was going to give us his truck if need be to get there. We're from So. Cal. Our brakes got hot and smoky as we approached Jackson WY. We went to 2 auto shops who wouldn't even look at our truck. Then I referred to AAA listings and found Auto Tech. The gentleman who serviced us, Ryan, was extremely helpful. Not only did he look at our brakes within 20 minutes, he showed us what happened to the pads and told us they were ok. We had been afraid we'd get gouged since we were from out of town. We did not. It was s reasonable charge for the time they took to inspect. read more

Overall I felt a bit taken advantage of by these guys. What is the point of being "the only place open on the weekends in Jackson" if that just means that you are going to gouge the customers on the price? I had my Toyota 4Runner towed to their shop with a possible transmission problem. Thankfully it turned out to be the radiator. I quickly googled radiators for my car on the internet and found that the part is only $120 on average. He then quoted me $289 for the part, plus a $30 "freight" fee. I understand the need to mark things up, but 300%? I asked about the discrepancy and he rudely told me to "go buy one myself." After discussing the labor and parts for the new radiator he told me my final price would be right around $600 - a lot for the job - but it is Jackson over a holiday weekend so swallowed that one. When I picked it up the next day it was near $800. I understand most of us don't know anything about cars. I also understand that we are on vacation in your town. But neither of those things constitute you taking advantage of vulnerable people. read more

Took a day longer than they had predicted due to getting parts. Very nice people and car ran great after they worked on it. Was very happy to get a functional car back, even if it was a day late. Like so many of the other reviewers, we were on a road trip from Southern California when our van developed a major water pump leak. Stopping every 50 miles to refill the radiator with coolant and water just wasn't our idea of a vacation, so I called AAA to get their recommendation for a local repair shop. Though it was a Sunday, "Paul" answered the phone and said to bring the van in first thing Monday morning and they should be able to fix the problem by noon. I expressed my surprise that they'd be done so quickly, so he said that he'd check the computer for the actual time when he was in the shop later that day, and call me back to confirm the time. He never called back, and we were hiking in the Grand Tetons, so I didn't call him again to check, and we made our Monday plans based on his noon estimate - BAD idea. My husband and son drove the van to the shop, planning to spend the morning in Jackson and leaving my 3 girls and me at our campsite in the Grand Tetons to break down camp and prep for our drive to Yellowstone as soon as they returned. When they arrived at Autotech (via tow truck, as the van overheated again on the way there), "Ryan" greeted them and told them that the van would be ready between 2 & 3 pm, instead of the noon I'd been quoted the day before. My husband called me to let me know and I went to the campground office to request late checkout (thankfully we had a reservation for Yellowstone for that night). My girls and I broke down the tents & packed everything up into piles to be loaded into/onto the van as soon as our guys returned, and then went off to the river to explore. My husband and son figured out Jackson's (FREE!) public bus system and went to do errands to occupy themselves till 2-3 pm. My girls & I went back to our site at 2pm, did a few last-minute preparations and sat down to wait. My guys waited for a call from Ryan at Autotech while nursing coffees in Starbucks. When 4 pm came & went and we all were getting yet more bored and anxious, my husband called the shop & was told that the van was almost finished. They got back on the bus and made their way back to Autotech, arriving around 5 and found that the van was indeed NOT finished yet. They FINALLY got the van back around 6 pm...9 hours, no explanation/apology, and $1000 later. We finally got on the road north around 8 pm, and arrived at our Yellowstone campground just before the registration office closed at 10. My husband wants me to be sure to point out that the service tech (whose name he doesn't remember) was excellent, explaining the mechanical problem that had taken place, and what we needed to do for maintenance when we returned home. Due to the lack of communication, our family lost a whole day of togetherness in Yellowstone. I wouldn't recommend this place. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because I'm SO HAPPY that the problem was fixed satisfactorily, and we didn't have any more trouble the whole trip. read more

I'm adding yet another glowing review of these guys. Everyone of the reviews you see here are all true. My situation is similar. I drove in from Los Angeles and my radiator blew out because the guys at Pep Boys put the wrong coolant in my car. I brought my car in first thing in the morning and Auto Tech went right to work on it. They honestly discussed my options and we decided to spend extra to get the part in that day. By 5:00 pm we had the new radiator and it was installed. I drove it all the way to Ohio and had no further problems. read more

I drove over to the back alley shop to see about an oil change and coolant change while on vacation here in Jackson. There was a Big guy sitting at the desk inside the shop and when I asked him about an oil change he quoted $60!! He also quoted a coolant change for $175! I said NO THANKS! I can get an oil change back at home in WA state for $35 and coolant change for $60!!! What a ripoff! The big guy at the desk also didn't seem to know what kind of coolant my car took anyway...so why would I entrust my car to him?! Such price gouging...zero star rating. Don't go here! read more

My Tahoe died on a Sunday morning while visiting Jackson. I thought it was the fuel pump, but it turned out to be the ignition module. I selected Auto Tech because they were the only ones that answered the phone on Sunday. They towed my vehicle in first thing Monday morning and had it repaired in less than three hours and cheaper than the price they quoted me over the phone. I own a Jeep Wrangler and BMW 5 series. After having a horrible experience with the Jeep dealership in Jackson for repairs needed on my Wrangler, I am so grateful to have found Auto Tech! Thankfully, Auto Tech also services imports which here in Jackson, is very difficult to find. I have taken my BMW here multiple times and Levi and his staff are wonderful!!! I always receive courteous, professional, friendly service and at a fair price. Repairs are done in a timely fashion and explained in detail so those of us that don't know cars can understand. I never feel that I'm being taken advantage of....just the opposite actually. I feel like Levi actually cares about his customers and wants to do everything he can to get me back on the road without breaking the bank. I won't take my vehicles anywhere else but to Auto Tech. The serpentine belt in our VW van started shredding as we pulled out of the campground in Jackson. We called Autotech the next morning and the van survived long enough to get there. They let us borrow their car to go have breakfast and (after hearing the news) find a rental car. The problem was quickly diagnosed and a part was ordered and shipped in overnight. There was minor delay in the part arriving, but the shop was prompt and honest. Labor time charged seemed reasonable for the job performed. read more
