Honest, fair and competent repair service! I went into Big O with a rental car with a slow leaking tire. After evaluation I was told that the tire needed replace because of a puncture in the sidewalk. And, since they didn't have the tire in the right size it would have to be ordered and would take two days. Alternatively they could replace all 4 tires with a different brand right now for "a little over $1,300. The rental company was contacted and they said "no way we're replacing the tires, they only have 16k on them and you're responsible for repairing the leaking tire". Big O said they would not attempt to repair a sidewall leak, and the would not replace only one tire; they needed to replace all 4 tires due to the wear differential between a new tire and the "old worn tires". Additionally they did not want to be responsible for the serious steering and handling issues that would occur, as well as problems with the digital dashboard that would light up with suspension problems that would register with the car's computer!! I declined their proposed solution and asked to have the tire remounted. I drove next door to Shirvens Tire Repair, they determined that it was a previous plug in the tread that was leaking and repaired the tire with a new plug and patch in 20 minutes for $34. There was no hole in the sidewall!!! We drove through Yellowstone, over Beartooth Pass, and back to Jackson via Livingston, and returned the car to Salt Lake City with no problems. We made a pit stop here to get gas, on our way to Denver. The gas station itself looks a bit more like an auto center and is pretty no frills from the outside, but I found the inside to be well stocked, clean, and the person working (maybe the owner) to genuinely be one of the kindest people. I'd probably make this a local spot to support if I lived in the area just from the interactions I had with the folks inside. Just super nice people here. read more

All the guys did in the garage was stare at me for 50 minutes and not a single hello, how can I help. I finally got someone's attention. They made me wait 50 minutes for something that literally took 5 seconds and it didn't even fix the problem. Now I have to come back to replace the sensor. read more

I'm a new facilities manager at a local resort and though a longer term Teton Valley resident I'm new to the Jackson scene. Recently we had a customer complain of a terrible noise from our rental jeep. I suspected a rock between a brake rotor and dust shield. I met the ladies in town, and took the jeep to Shervins on a very rainy fall afternoon. They were busy but listened to my hypothesis and agreed it might be accurate. They got me in right away and shortly thereafter handed me a small stone! They would not charge me in spite of my gratitude and willingness to pay! Our customers had their jeep back within an hour and were happy. Today my staff picked up one of our Toyota trucks which was in for snow tires and an oil change. They ordered the tires I wanted from Salt Lake and confirmed they had arrived before we dropped the truck off. Price was very reasonable! So I've read either great reviews or negative based on an earlier transition period for new owners. My sense is the new owners sorted through some staff issues and now have an excellent team. I'm not new to vehicle maintenance and own a truck which I've cared for for 718k miles (original engine and transmission). I was an engineering superintendent for an oil spill response barge fleet and Captain. In my current role in a new town I need to rely on a local supplier for quality service and Shervins has won my confidence and future business. read more

Honestly surprised with the bill because I thought all of that would set me back quite a bit and it was all very well priced. Skip this place. I took a local's advice and had my truck oil changed here: As of about 2 hours ago, I now understand how big of a mistake that was. 1.The service advisor stated that 8 quarts 5W30 was put in my engine. Ok, you got the grade right: But my oil capacity is 6.97qts to be exact. That's 1.03 quarts over-full. I made them recheck oil and drain excess if necessary, and upon checking my dipstick it was indeed slightly over-full, but not by a quart. Bullet dodged, thank God I do my own oil changes and caught this. 2.These guys got my plate number wrong on the invoice. I have California plates, not Wyoming plates. 3. THE FINAL KICKER: Car guys will understand this. There is a very simple concept in doing oil changes. I have done oil changes on this truck myself for almost 100k miles and 6 years, so I know how snug stuff should be. Upon oil changing my truck tonight, my oil drain plug was practically loose already. But the FILTER. Whoever put my oil filter on either neglected to lube the gasket, or put it on with the strength of Hercules. The Carquest oil filter they used crumpled like a piece of paper, that is how much force was needed to remove it (will attach pics). It must be a hard concept to grasp that it takes 5 seconds to lube a filter gasket, and you do NOT need to act like an 800-pound gorilla when you tighten it. Places like this are the reason why I learned how to work on my own vehicles. Note to self, find apartments that are lenient on working on cars from now on. UGH. read more

I have been coming to Shervins for many years mainly for tire swaps. The new ownership has really cleaned up the place significantly. While more expensive than Big O $35/tire vs $25/tire, Shervin's allows you to make an appointment which is very helpful and worth it. The tire swaps are straightforward and have always been done before the quoted finish time. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. That said, I was in the waiting area around 9am and I heard the desk guys talking about a guy selling tacos nearby. Bear with me here. Not one to shirk when it comes to tacos (even at 9am) I wandered over to see/ask about tacos. Taco guy had already left but one of the desk guys had purchased some for his lunch. A young guy. When this young man figured out I had missed out on the tacos, he offered me his. Wow. I politely declined but I was very touched and even proud of this young man. I'm pretty sure the employee handbook at Shervins mentions nothing about sharing your lunch with a random customer. But there it was. Not all is lost and there is hope for the future if this young man has anything to do with it. I'd highly suggest doing business with these folks. read more

We were in the Teton area on vacation , had a quick lunch stop and the car wouldn't start back up at Colter Bay!! We got a jump start, but felt like we might need a new battery. Called several places in town including AAA no one could get us a battery. But, we called Shevrin's, they got us in, checked the battery, and gave us a really solid battery charge, for only $20. We will need a new battery, but not until we get home. We really appreciated the help, the flexibility, and my son was happy the little store sold Squirt soda!! Anyhow, this place rules. read more

While on vacation in Grand Teton we had the horrible experience of having the traction light come on the dashboard. Brought the car into Shervins based on a local's recommendation. Rob did all he could to keep our vacation on track including suggesting possible additional auto shops along our route. When I said I didn't feel comfortable proceeding until the repair was complete, he and the mechanics worked to fit our repair into their already booked schedule. My Mom (72yrs old) had a problem with her 09 Nissan Murano while she was on a very important to her trip to the Tetons. Shervins said they were many weeks out but was kind enough to look into the situation for her and my Aunt. After a quick investigation the problem was a simple battery cable fix, after ordering the part Shervins installed it and had them back on the road within a couple hours. Unfortunately two days later as Mom and her sisters were checking out of the resort, my Mom suffered a massive brain bleed and past away. Thank you Shervins for helping! I left my car lights on over night after a long exhausting day and after getting jumped off I was still losing power to the engine and steering. They took me in same day despite being booked up. It turns out the battery just needed a good charge but I was convinced it was the alternator. I'm so glad they were honest and genuine with me about this minor fix and took the time to go over some other concerns I mentioned on my way out. Interstate battery kept dying, they claimed they would honor warranty. Went in and the test printout showed low amps and just over half the rated CCA, but claimed the battery was still good. Immediately after the test I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. The test drained the battery. They gave me a jump and said they could sell me a new battery, but that was it. read more

To move my Daughter back to California.. we barely made it out of town and had the sidewall to a tire on my trailer blow out.. the next morning I got the trailer in to Shervin's.. in an hour the work was done and the Cost was minimal for 2 new radial tires.. on the road and back to Palm Springs in 2 days .. 1,100 miles.. I don't like to write bad reviews, but after bringing our vehicle in 6 times and spending thousands of dollars, they still weren't able to fix or diagnose the problem Correctly!!!!!! We eventually brought it to Dodge Yeti (even though it's a Chevy) and they were able to find the issue right away. we will not be using Shervin's ever again, sadly. We absolutely love this shop and they saved our vacation. While in Wyoming (we drove 900 miles from Arizona), my husband hit a huge pothole and dented my fancy after-market 20 inch rim, causing the low-profile tire to pull away and completely deflate. We were afraid we would need to order a new, temporary 20 inch rim and tire, which would take a week to a month, according to Big O Tires. Shervin's technician was able to hammer out the dent and put the tire back on (the tire wasn't damaged and only charged us $38!!!). The next day, my other tire went flat! We took it back to Shervin's and they got us right in before lunch. Turned out I had a staple in that tire and they sealed it within 10 minutes and only charged us $38. I was concerned to drive the 20-hour drive home with my family and young child. The technician reassured me that it would be ok and to check the tires every time we stopped for gas. I am happy to report that we made it home without incident thanks to the incredible skill and timeliness of this shop. They were literally life-savers! read more

We were out of town on vacation, and in a tough spot with a bent rim on a rental car. We had visions of extending our stay to accomodate ordering a new rim from the dealer. The area is remote, and no one wants to work on rims, especially an alloy at the end of the day. The shop not only fixed the rim, but did it quickly and professionally. $170 for a diagnosis and $130/hr for labor! Had an appointment here to have an engine noise checked out. They had told me $110/hr when I made the appointment for my VW Eurovan. When I went to drop off my van, the manager tells me it's $130/hr and 1.3 hours for a diagnosis...$170 just for a diagnosis. I've been to dozens of shops around the country and my first word was car. I've never even heard of a shop charging for a diagnosis. And $130/hr is the highest labor rate I've ever seen. I know a BMW shop right on the beach in California that's $130/hr, but at least they're price is consistent and doesn't change between the time you make an appointment and show up. Told the manager I thought it was absurd they were trying to charge that much and he didn't seem to care at all. He told me, "Put your hood down and get outta here." I let him know that I was very displeased with their professionalism and ethics, but he didn't seem to care. At all. Fortunately, I went down the street to the tire shop and they do FREE diagnoses, just like every other shop...what do you know?! Turned out to be my water pump ($50) and that's about a 1-1.5hr job tops on a Eurovan. At a way more reasonable $90/hr, the whole thing is fixed, including parts, for less than these guys wanted to charge just to tell me what was wrong. I have no doubts that this shop would have tried to charge me $400 for a pump (to be fair, that's what VW would charge) and marked it at a few hours. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere if you need auto repairs. read more

I have used Shervins for 4 years. Probably spent over 10 k with them on tires, brakes, suspension etc. they do excellent work, no BS with them. If I want to bring my own parts in to put on, they are fine with that. You can find a little cheaper place in town, but you will get what you pay for. Try going to the clowns at the Chevy or Subaru dealers if you want a taste of dishonesty. I like the 2 bad reviews: fuel pump ripoff, and guy who had his mechanic 100% certify his truck was fine and then blame Shervins for his differential being out of oil. Get a life and quit blaming these people for your cars having problems. read more
