review helps others learn about great local businesses. We are having some issues with the minivan, a co-worker suggested AutoTech, a local auto repair place. My husband made an Appointment for Monday morning to have them look at it. No calls on Monday, he called Tuesday morning, yes, they were looking at it, and would call later. We realized he left some important stuff in it, so we went down to get it around 2:30 today. The van was exactly where he had parked it, but now there was an SUV blocking it and a dumpster. We went inside and the guy said they had had it in the bay, but had to pull it out, because they needed to work on someone else's emergency. And that they needed to get it back in to finish. LIE! It had never been in. We asked for the keys and for them to move the SUV so we could get it out. The car belonged to someone at another business and they were out on a call in a company car. Then this Jerk kind of chastised my husband for where it was parked. Well, if it had really been in the Bay, why had THEY parked in in the other business' spot. I really dislike being lied to and apparently everyone else who had brought their cars in had been more important than ours...our business meant nothing to them. We live and work here for 6 months out of the year, we were hoping to find a business that we could trust to work on our cars, we can't trust a business that lies to us. read more

We were referred to Auto Tech by a park official. We needed the GPS to find this back-alley joint. The Tech went right to work (had he no work before we arrived? NOT LIKELY, and if truly NO, why?)to locate the noise maker in our front end as the car went up and down. Trailing arm bushings and they have a set that MIGHT work $30. But they didn't. The right set could be here tomorrow from ID. This is our camper van and contained our bed so the front end needed to be reassembled to use over night. This was 2 hrs labor to see if the parts might fit but didn't. The new correct set was about $100. The set is 4 rubber bushings about 3-4 inches in diameter. $100 ?? Now tomorrow the front end must be disassemble and the correct bushing installed. Now the total for installing these 4 bushings is approaching $600. We balked at the growing cost. A BIG BOSS appeared and started talking loud, We responded with loud and got ordered out of his garage to the office and were told by Mr Big Mouth to "Take our van and shove it up our __ hole. In the office he said he wanted 2 hrs labor about $190 cash only. We balked again as we had no large amount of cash. Minutes went by-- Finally Mr. Big said $94 cash. That we could provide and we received our ignition keys and left. A Lady clerk was sympathetic with us and helped a lot The mechanic was OK, he told us on the get-go that we could drive the car OK with the problem. That was a relief and we THANK him for being square. We never saw the trial bushings and suspect the whole scenario of the trial bushings was a set-up and the garage didn't have a trial set or knew they would not fit. Plus the $100 is out of bounds. This joint is not recommended. We give 2 stars for the mechanic and the clerk. read more

When we arrived in Jackson Hole in our rented RV we discovered the cowling in the rear wheel well had dropped down and was getting close to rubbing on the tire. After calling a couple of RV repair shops and being told they could get to it in a couple of days, someone recommended we call Frank @ AutoTech. We called him first thing in the morning and he told us to bring it in and they'd look at it. We took it right in. Frank came out and looked at it and said it looked like the whole undercarriage was rotting out. (We were not surprised to hear this) He said they could strap and screw it up and it should hold us until we got home to Arizona. They got it in and out in about 1.5 hours, the cost was extremely reasonable and Frank explained to the owner over the phone what the problem was and took his payment over the phone. We were extremely grateful for the fast service, the treatment from the customer service folks and Frank and the reasonable prices. We would happily recommend them. read more

Absolutely the worst mechanic I've ever been to. Took my car in to get fixed, was told it would take 2 days tops, waited for my car to be done for over a week. After getting a call saying everything was complete and i could get me car I took it home and half the work i paid for hadnt even been done! Took my car back and was told I would have to pay more for the work they did that I had already paid for! If you value your time, money and other peoples honesty, drive as far away from this place as you can. read more

Worst experience I ever had with mechanics,they overcharged me twice and still didn't fix the problem, have to find another mechanic and he told me I overpaid $500 to Autotech . Don't recommend anyone to go there such a waste of time and money. read more

Owner jumped under our sprinter van to fix NOX sensor at shop closing time. Got us out in 5 min. , made his tee shirt filthy but did it with a smile!! Great guy, hard working!! Thanks Auto Tech owner!! read more

We broke down in Jackson on New Year's Eve. Our car flash froze. Never was able to figure out the name of the shop again as I lost the receipt. It was 22 below and 11:30 at night. It took until 2 am but your driver went out of his way to take us and get us into the only hotel room open in Jackson and get us a way way discounted rate. He came back and took us to our car the next day and helped in more than anyone ever needed to. Thank you so much for your time and effort to get us back home to Portland. read more

We came there on Saturday 1st of avril because we had problems with our van (iddling problems). Our first impression wasn't good and we tried our best to get another garage to do the job but every other garage was full till the next friday. We came on monday morning but as everything was working great on the van again we were not sure it was the right time to have it checked. How to find what's wrong when everything is working? We asked the owner (who we think is the owner) about it but he seemed more interested in telling us to fill the paper to do the checking than answering our questions. He finally said "no we'll get interesting results on which we should be able to say what's going on". After having spent some time to check the van he explained us that they couldn't find anything as everything was working and proposed us to stay to do some checking later the day when the problem would come back. But as we explained him before, and how it was written on a paper explaining important things about the van problems, we did had the same problem 1000 miles ago so the problem was probably not going to come back quickly (we have driven 1000 miles since without any issues). I did ask him why he said to us to do the check even if everything was working to say after it "sorry we can't find anything everything is working"! But he didn't answer to my question he only said: "my goal is to make my customers happy and we are the cheaper auto repair in town". We paid 100 dollars for NOTHING. Is that cheap? How could we be happy? Yes the price was the one of the quotation he gave us before, but we were of course expecting to have some results! Why did he tell us to do this checking? To get money, only. Not to make us happy. We wouldn't go back there and we shouldn't have paid for nothing! read more

Horrible experience. I would never in a million years recommend this company to anyone. Had a van break down, towed to their shop. They said it was a fuel pump, then charged me to check it. It wasn't the fuel pump. Then they ran diagnostics - but they couldn't figure it out and fried something. What started with fuel pump turned into electrical nightmare, they didn't have the chevy equipment to run complete diagnostics. So they took it to the local chevy dealership (THANK HEAVENS). They were abrasive and unclear on my questions - but Teton Motors answered my questions - so I called out Auto Tech. They hated I knew what was going on. They threatened me with mechanic lien when I asked why I should pay them for work the dealership did - and why I should pay twice. My total bill was initially estimated around 750, turned into over 3k. The guy named Paul yelled at me, threatened me, but couldn't do a thing because the dealer fixed the van and had it in their lot. It isn't worth dealing with a mechanic like this. Ever. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED! Visiting Jackson when car overheated and engine light came on. Called Auto Tech to inquire about getting car scanned for codes to figure out the problem. Employee told us the scan was free. Makes sense, as any Pep Boys will provide this service free of charge. The next day we went to Auto Tech for the scan. To our surprise we were charged nearly $60 for the scan after it was completed. When we told the mechanic that we were told it was free, he did nothing to rectify the situation and said that they always charge. They pulled a bait and switch on us. Dishonest with poor customer service! read more

I have had them perform two repairs on my daughters truck. First, they replaced a fuel pump - subsequently the part failed and they initially refused to warranty the item. I did some research and found they had made mistakenly advised they had installed a part that would not have been warrantable when in fact the had installed the warrantable part. They eventually warranted the replacement. In the second instance I took the truck again to them to have a fuel filter replaced and a small wiring issue repaired. They quoted me $88.00/hr labor and $20.00 parts. They quoted 1.25 hours of labor for the repair. When I went to pick up the truck they charged me $122.00/hr labor. I reminded them of the quote and they advised that they had had in fact quoted that but should have quoted the higher rate - and subsequently refused to honor their word on the quote. Staff blamed the owner and said there was nothing they could do. read more
