Not sure exactly how to rate these guys since they do not respond when contacted. I called in the morning on Saturday, no one answered. I left a very detailed voicemail about my situation and what I thought was wrong with my vehicle. I also left contact information. The message on the voicemail mentioned checking out their website. I decided to do so after leaving my voicemail. On their website there is a page to schedule an appt. So I filled that out as well, leaving as much detail as possible. I also mentioned that I left a voicemail. No call back Saturday. I figure, ok, even though they were open for several hours after I left my message, it's reasonable to give a business 24 hours to respond. Sunday was Mother's Day and I'm sure they were not open Sunday. Fine. Monday, still no call or email. I go to the website again Monday night and fill out the form again, just in case they did not see the 1st one. Today is Tuesday, still no reply. It has been 3 business days since I requested they contact me and nothing. Guess they are too busy to need my business. Lucky them. I wanted to leave a 5 star rating like everyone else and was looking forward to finding a good mechanic who can come to me at my home, job, etc. But I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'm giving them 3 stars because I'm sure they do an excellent job, but they don't really seem to care about new customers. Most people are lost without their vehicles. I'm not saying I expected them to come out ASAP. I know it probably would have been several days after speaking to them. But if I never speak to them, they will never come out. Kyle is a very knowledgeable and honest mechanic who comes to you and doesn't overcharge. Naturally, he gets a lot of business so expect to wait a few days for an appointment. When he came by to check out my problem he noticed that I have tools and do some of my own work. He started explaining exactly what I should do and how to do it, and what parts to get. THAT'S an HONEST professional. I ended up asking him to do the work because I wasn't comfortable with changing major engine parts myself and he did a fantastic job. My car runs perfectly again and it didn't cost NEARLY what the dealership or any shop would have charged. Highly highly recommended. Again just don't expect him to be able to drop everything that day and squeeze you in because he is usually booked a couple days in advance. read more

So I just bought a 4runner which was over due for timing belt and water pump replacement so I asked my friend if he knew anyone. He recommended Kyle and I couldn't be more happy with the exceptional quality of service!!! My car's engine suddenly died on the freeway in downtown morning rush-hour traffic and wouldn't restart. We coasted safely over to the road shoulder and called AAA. I had AAA tow the car to a well-known, AAA-recommended tire/auto service on Queen St. They called me the following day and diagnosed the problem as a bad distributor, quoting $1,500 to replace it. I know that a distributor replacement job is less than half of what was quoted, so I declined the repair and had AAA tow the car to my house. After paying the tire/auto service's $148 diagnostic fee, they gave me a copy of their written repair estimate, and to my surprise, in addition to $600+ to replace the distributor, they tacked on $800 in "recommended", non-essential services that they did not inform me of over the phone - fuel additive, fuel filter, new spark plugs, new spark plug wire set, etc. I just wanted my car to run. When I got home, I Googled "honolulu mobile auto repair" and saw high marks on Yelp for Auto Tech OTG. I called to make an appointment and Kyle, an ASE-certified auto technician, came to my house the next morning. I showed him the tire/auto service's repair estimate - immediately, Kyle had me crank the engine and he said it sounded like no compression in the cylinders, an indication that the engine wouldn't start because of a broken timing belt, not a bad distributor. Kyle removed the spark plug from the #1 cylinder, hooked up his compression gauge, and sure enough, no compression - a broken timing belt. (If I had let the tire/auto service fix my car, they would have replaced a perfectly good, working distributor for $600+ and then when the car still didn't start, they'd realize that the timing belt was broken, which would have been another $900 to replace just to get the car running again.) So it turns out I paid the tire/auto service $148 for an incorrect bad distributor diagnosis, Kyle cleared one day on his calendar the following week to replace not only the timing belt but other parts that needed to be removed in order to get to the timing belt (water pump, drive belts, coolant hoses, etc.). On repair day, he finished the job in a bit over 4 hours (wow!). He even replaced my thermostat and topped off my engine oil which was a 1/2 quart low! My car started right up and runs great. Here's the real kicker - for all that work, he charged me 50% of what the other guys would have overcharged me to get my car running. Kyle is personable, hard-working, diagnoses and repairs quickly and accurately, and doesn't tack on non-essential items. He recommends things to watch out for, is very reasonably priced, and is reliable and honest. He called me when he was on his way over and called me if he was behind schedule. This guy is the BEST!! I cannot express how wonderful my experience was. My 4yr old car would not start in front of my house after replacing the battery and a couple of similar episodes in the last couple months! I've used Kyle a half a dozen times since I wrote my 1st review, and I'm still as impressed today as I was 3 years ago. Yes, he's busy, but he will always do his best to work you in as soon as he can. He's very thorough, he always gives me all the info and options before fixing something, tries to save me money when he can, and is honest about what he feels is the best way to go. His prices consistently come in a lot lower than what I've paid for the same type of work in the past, and I never feel like he's in it for the money. He can be a little hard to get on the phone if you leave a voicemail (I assume it's because he's always working or on the road - yes, he really is that busy), but I've learned that if I text him, I'll get a fast response. I have also recommended him to others who have had equally excellent experience. I'm picky about who I recommend because it's my cred on the line too, and he always makes me look good. Thanks Kyle!
