I can see why everyone likes Dave! I called Dave with a concern about my car and he happened to be available right then. He ran the scanner and inspected everything under the hood. It turned out that there was nothing wrong with the car, just a glitch with one of the lights. Other places wanted up to $188 to run diagnostics and needed me to drop my car off for a long period of time. Alternator on my SUV went out the other night while driving and I had to have my car towed home. Rather than towing it to a shop (which would cost a tow fee) and hope they had the parts available and time to fix it in the same day, I decided to give Dave a call. Dave is thorough, responsive, effective, and efficient. I was referred to him as the only dude in the area that works on Euro-make cars. Volvo wasn't starting and he first made sure it wasn't something simple that we could just take care of ourselves. The bad news was that it was something pretty obscure that required some troubleshooting. The good news was ... well, Dave and his skills. He figured out it was a burnt coil (which doesn't show up in diagnostics), replaced it and we were good to go. First off, I have had some really bad issues with a mobile mechanic in the past which would usually deter me from using ANY mobile mechanic, but Dave has restored my faith in mechanics, mobile mechanics and probably all of humanity in general! :) I was sent to Dave via recommendation from my grandfather and father who has been using Dave for mechanic work for some time now. I am somewhat mechanically inclined so I would usually try and do my own work but I needed a second opinion because of the symptoms my car was displaying. My Lexus was throwing a code which had to do with my car's VVTi system malfunctioning and because I had only worked on older Toyota's in the past, I had no idea what this new technology did. After some research, I asked Dave to come and fix it. He was able to troubleshoot and fix the issue within an hour (probably much less because we were talking story) and also went with me for a test drive to make sure everything was working as it should be. Aside from his actual AMAZING work ethic, he's also a really nice person. Even when I called, I asked where he serviced and he said he mainly serviced the Hawaii Kai area but he didn't even hesitate to come out to Kaimuki to help with my car! I have a 2nd appointment with Dave later this week to change my timing belt, water pump, spark plugs and wires and my VVT pulley. All which he says will be done in 1 day. I'm so thankful to have found Dave and I will definitely be sending more business his way in the future! Dave came to the house with his van & an assistant on time , was cheerful, competently serviced my RX 300 Lexus provided us the option of synthetic oil with requires changing every 5k rather than the normal 3k Miles,& replaced a sensor that shut down the check engine light. What I found amazing is that he immediately diagnosed a start up " squealing" noise that my mechanics in LA were not able to correct. Few months back, I had a huge nail got stuck in my tire on the way home after 12hr shift. I was very exhausted. Called several places to see if they could at least plug the tire, most of place said that I could walk in but I would have to wait at least two hours. I called Dave and he listened to me what happened, and as I live in Hawaii Kai as well he said he could stop by because he was headed to town anyway. So he and his partner came, they plugged my tire!! I was able to drive my car and didn't have to rent a car until my tires arrived at the mechanic. I am so thankful for Dave and his partner!
