Top notch repair shop, a James has always been fair with pricing and use of his time when working on any of my vehicles. Most recently I had them go completely through my 05 f150 and give me an honest answer as to whether it was worth repairing or taking to the port for scrap. They went through the truck top to bottom, and found, as I suspected, multiple issues with it. Except at this shop, James went over with me, what was needed and what could stand to wait. They broke down each individual repair and how much it would cost, and there were no surprises today when I picked up my truck. Car stalled, took it to AutoTech, The proprietor there found that the car had over-heated due to coolant leaking. He added coolant and sealant, and after some time was able to run the engine. He then told me that the engine is very badly damaged, that I need another engine, and that he recommends getting another car. He said he could arrange to send it to a junkyard and that it was unsafe to drive any distance, that and I should only drive the 2 miles home and remove my processions and then bring the car back to him to be junked. I set out for home but something seemed fishy; he hadn't inspected or done anything to check the engine, the car was running, it sounded the same as always, the check engine light was not on. So I stopped at another repair shop; they inspected the engine, drove the car, and concluded that the engine was fine, and I have continued driving it with no problems for over 6 weeks; there may be a small leak in the cooling system. The guy at AutoTech had come very close to convincing me to junk a car that is the only means of transport of a disabled senior citizen and that has nothing significant wrong with it. Either he doesn't know what he is doing, or you can draw your own conclusions about what he was up to. read more

I selected Auto Tech Solutions because of its Yelp reviews. James (owner) is an ASE Master Tech, an advanced certification indicating his up to date expert knowledge of auto mechanics. I found him to be honest and kind. I brought my 1991 5.0 Mustang to him for inspection. I've owned this car for nearly 15 years and have done most of its upgrades myself - supercharger, exhaust, suspension - so I really know this car. He made time available in his busy Saturday schedule (I couldn't bring the car to him weekdays). He did a thorough safety inspection and didn't try to tell me something was wrong with the car to create business for himself (I had one mechanic in NYC do this years ago who realized his mistake once we started talking mechanics). After the inspection, James and I discussed a possible transmission upgrade (beyond my expertise and garage facilities). He spoke knowledgeably and confidently about the procedure. Though I haven't had James do involved mechanical work yet, I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car to him given the sense I got of him from my initial experience. I hope this helps. read more

Great work Does a full inspection of the car tells you of any problems, of what problems need immediate attention and about how long you have until minor problems need immediate attention. As a woman, I have often dreaded dealing with mechanics - it is not my area of expertise and I have been talked down to (and I am sure ripped, off) by a few, but from our first transaction with James, I have always felt comfortable and he has always talked to me as a human being and explained things easily to me and I have no doubt he has given me a fair deal every time. I have had service done on my Suburu Forester here twice. Last summer, I had timing belt etc. replacement service and brake work done.... equivalent replacement / repair was significantly less expensive than the local dealership quote for identical parts and service. Last week, I went to a dealership (Mitchell Suburu, in Avon, CT), to get a replacement remote key fob, and asked them to diagnose an oil leak. They quoted $1800 for a replacement head gasket. I went to James for a second opinion, and he charged about $50 to diagnose and replace a faulty oil pressure switch, even after I told him the dealership said I needed a new head gasket. In spreading the word about how positive my experiences have been with James, acquaintances have only confirmed the same thing.
