Autobahn is fantastic and the service is excellent! More expensive because they don't use after market products, but definitely worth it. They offer rides if you're local if your car is going to be a while. Victor helped me both times I needed work done on my car and it's always been a very pleasant experience. Very communicative and friendly. Kelly is also super friendly too. They even have resident birds and turtles - very unique for a mechanic shop. We moved to the Northshore area over three years ago, and even though we've since moved to the Metro-Boston area, we still bring our cars here. Yeah, we've tried other places around our new neck o' the woods, but we just don't feel as comfortable with the work that has been put into the car repair as we do with this place. The place is sparse looking; almost like they haven't been in the building for very long. But, over the years it has definitely become more lived in. They have a lounge for customers that wait while their car work is being performed. It has two big plushy couches, outlets, a flat screen tv with corresponding remotes, and little toy cars for children to play with. They've also started carrying some general automotive maintenance items from the looks of the utility shelving opposite the customer service desk. Other perks? The guys running "the show" are nice and to the point. There's also free WiFi on a protected network and an Irish Terrier named Otis that loves to chase down a little red laser dot from a laser level tool. Don't go rushing to bring your canines in though; I'm pretty sure Otis is part of upper management and only comes in a great once in a while. read more

They work on American muscle cars too! They have worked on my 2014 ZL1 Camaro a couple times and have done a great job. My car is super clean and I like how they pay attention to the details. For example they installed new tires and did not nick or scratch the rims, totally removed the adhesive from the old wheel weights, installed BLACK wheel weights on my black rims (I didn't even know black was an option), and made sure the rims and tires where clean and without fingerprints. You wont get that attention to detail at the discount tire shops. read more

Just left this place and felt like I had to write a review. The engine light came on in my 2015 Mini countryman and I ran the code at autozone and knew it wasn't covered under my warranty so after a google search I found this place. First off the woman that runs the front desk is so nice and knowledgeable. I have never called a mechanic and had someone who didn't sound like a wench answer the phone. While I was waiting for my car I heard her on the phone with a customer for probably 15 minutes so politely trying to explain what might be wrong with their car and they were clearly trying to ask 475 questions. So she needs a raise. They got my car in and diagnosed it within the hour, as someone who knows jack about cars they could have told me 14 things were wrong with it and I would have been like ok sure, especially with a check engine light. They diagnosed the problem, wasn't a big deal and I was on my way. I will definitely be back in the future when needed. Also they have A+ snacks/drinks and a room with birds and a fountain so if I'm going to spend my money somewhere it's this place. read more

This is the best auto place I've been to by far. Honest, great work, and they don't have you buy new parts unless you have to. They also always take the time to show you what they did, and the old parts they took out. I really like this place a lot and if I didn't work completely in the opposite direction and if they weren't only open monday to friday I'd be using them still, even though they're like 20 miles away from where I live. They're all a bunch of good guys to boot. It's really upsetting to me that I can't take my car there anymore. read more

I drive 2005 BMW e46 Coupe (325Ci) and gave them a call to schedule a balance and alignment since the car had some vibration and steering was off center. Dropped off the car the next day and in a few hours they called and informed me that the rear wishbone was bent and my tires where out of round so balancing and alignment would possible but really a waste since those problems would need to be fixed first. There was NO PRESSURE what's so ever from either Mike (service advisor) or technician; at this time Mike quoted me what the cost would be and suggested what tires I could you use all within a budget. I'm sure a lot of you out there weather are a BMW owner or another German auto it can be darn right expensive and this was the most amazing service I received since owning BMW's. If I went to anyone else I'm sure they would of balanced and aligned the car and after would mention "hey by the way your suspension is damaged" Do yourself a favor you paid good money for your car you want it to drive the way it's supposed to and want folks that WANT to earn your business, come The autobahn (say it with a German accent) Thanks you guys ! Update : 11.30.17 Well this is dragging along very slowly now about 2 years into lawsuit for autobahn completely damaging my 930 engine. Still do not have a court date but it will be set soon so I can display my destroyed engine and the emails documenting the engine oil only shorted by 6 qts . Let's not forget the transmission leaks from their expert rebuild . At least I have the car running again and can enjoy it . read more

Typical shop where they just do not listen to the customer and look for a reason to blame the customer for their failures. I really don't want to write up the entire experience as it is too long and boring. Suffice is to say that they did not listen to what I asked them to do and that just caused me to spend more money than I should have, and sitting around waiting for 3 hours while they fixed things when I showed up to pick up my vehicle which was "ready". You have lost a customer. PS. The make it right feature on the website is useless if the guy who failed is the one who calls the customer to apologize and still looks for a reason it's the customers fault. read more

Wow, what an eye-opener! I brought in a Porsche 911 for a pre-purchase inspection. Even though CarFax showed "no accidents", Autobahn Porsche tech Jason brought me in the shop and showed me evidence of both front and rear end damage that had been (poorly) repaired. He also compiled a laundry list of needed repairs, and produced evidence that the previous owners had not kept up with recommended maintenance. I can now offer the seller a price that is in line with the true condition of the car! This inspection fee was the best money spent! I highly recommend. read more

I had a leak where water was coming down into the passenger footwell of my B7 A4, they did a complete teardown of the glovebox and lining to find a pinhole leak in the windshield seal at the top above the visor. I just stopped by autobahn today to have my front fenders rolled on a mkvi gli. Can say without a doubt this place is one of the most professional shops around. I'm use to going to aftermarket performance shops and this is defiantly in top 5 that I have ever visited. The staff is not only friendly, but they know what they are talking about when it comes to cars. I called last minute at 9 am this morning and they had a appointment for me today, rolled my fenders in 30 minutes and even offered to wash/vacuum my car! Go here and see Mike or Michael (two different people). They recently stayed open later for me so that I could put my car in the garage for service before the Memorial Day weekend. The guys are really great and will try EVERYTHING they can to fix the problem. I've been here a total of about 3 times now and they have been able to fix things in a timely fashion and at a higher level of service than what I've experienced at other VW service shops, including actual VW dealerships! I used to be a believer in this shop, now I realize they quote you more if they don't particularly feel like working on your specific model of car. What do I mean by this? Well, if you own a Porsche, or a newer performance vehicle, they will (MAYBE) help you out and charge honest prices (which are still suspiciously close to dealer rates). But god forbid you bring in an older German car, or worse, a 1st generation Cooper. My engine had severe engine misfires on multiple cylinders, and so Autobahn quoted me $7500 for the fix. I ended up getting the engine swapped (plus a new clutch, new axle, new crash pad, complete overhaul of all gaskets, and many other essential fixes, along with some minor body work) for a grand total of under $2500. Instead of just admitting they prefer not to work on your car, they'll just jack up the estimated price and hope you'll be too desperate to look elsewhere. I got strung along for an entire week before being given the aforementioned ludicrous estimate price (just to swap in a used engine), after which I was forced to jump ship and tow it elsewhere. I feel guilty for ever recommending this place to friends, as they got screwed over as well: a friend of mine brought in his '06 BMW 328xi (~50K miles, very well maintained), and paid Autobahn 1700 to fix a steering problem, only to find out, 2 weeks later, that he needed to get the problem re-diagnosed and repaired again at another shop (extra $700). Learn from your mistakes guys, if you don't like working on a particular car, send the owner to a less picky shop. read more

I was at a nearby doctors office for an appointment and when I left I noticed a screw in my tire that was badly leaking air. When I yelp searched auto repair, Autobahn was the closest place. I dropped in to see if they could help or direct me to a nearby place. Not only did they take my car right in, repair it in 10-15 minutes, but they did not charge me for the plug or labor. It's hard to find places with integrity these days so I highly recommend these guys for work needed on your car. read more

I don't get these independent shops that think it's fair game to charge the number of "booked hours" that a dealer would use. They pointed out a number of issues, some of which I had been aware of, others not. However, they were not about to take the more reasonable routes to repair an older Passat with an Audi V6 engine. Fortunately, I just sold the money pit, and did not want to burn any bridges...... but I'm calling out the places I dealt with who may have wanted to profit at my loss. If I were driving a Porsche or high-end BMW or Benz (not a 3-series or C-class), it might be different, as they seemed competent and honest. At my request, they put my issues in writing, which helped me deal with the dealer who sold the car---- and eventually bought it back. Older German cars do not make good transportation for people who have 1 car, aren't handy, and have middle-class means. Lesson learned, as I now drive a boring Honda. read more
