I can't say enough how impressed and appreciative that I came here. First off I will never buy another Hyundai because of their warranty,! It's always months away for an appointment and today I can't get an appointment anywhere until November for something I needed help with today! I was certain I had an exhaust leak. I had a separation of my B pipe from the Cat, and they replaced the two ends without affecting the Cat or the sensors. Wow what service! Got an estimate for $918 dollars from a local tire + auto service chain. Then called Bay State about estimate for a 2nd. opinion. Ron was very nice and set up appointment. Just excellent. I've never been so happy about a car repair. One day it sounds fine, just like always. Next day, poof! It sounds like a dirt bike. An ugly, loud, rusty, dirt bike. You could hear me coming from six miles off. And right before Christmas, when I really need ALL my pennies to get those stockings stuffed. You know the feeling, right? I actually thought about driving it that way until after the holidays, but the car sounded BAD. So I called BayState and they said, "when do you want to bring it in?" Dropped it off, and in a couple of hours it was done, good as new. And the pennies? Cost me less than half what I was expecting. So the stockings will be okay after all. I want to thank the workers at Bay State Muffler . I was recommended to them by Motor Werks ( Lowell St Peabody). I had ran over an unavoidable branch in the road and it tore the flex pipe on my exhaust . I went to Bay State Muffler and I was pleasantly surprised to meet a very nice man named Ron . We set up an appointment for an estimate and repair . The mechanic who fixed my flex pipe was very informative and helpful. He explained to me what needed to be done ( I wish I got his name ), he fixed my car within a reasonable time and to top it off , it was a reasonable price as well . We got several quotes on replacing the catalytic converter on my husband's Lancer and the large pipe that runs under the car. Meineke quoted is $1400 for the catalytic converters alone! These guys gave us an $800 quote for everything and ended up calling us and telling us that we could wait on the pipe for now and that our bill would be closer to $500! Been going to Bay State for years now. Brought the last 3 trucks of mine to them and wouldnt go anywhere else. It all started when my old custom exhaust from Lous Custom exhaust just rusted off after two years (literally dragging as i was going home) Brought it to Bay State to redo the whole system, and it came out awesome. Had a flowmaster 40 muffler and cat back system done on my '14 Silverado 1500 and now on my '19 F250 and man do they sound awesome. Welds are perfect and the custom piping looks factory. I went here after dropping off my jeep at another "main stream" muffler shop, I wont mention names because they , in the past, have been fine. I needed a new straight pipe, muffler, and tail pipe. The other company quoted me $380 for a stock exhaust - the problem is I had flow master on there before with custom tips - who wants to go from flow masters to stock. I called bay state - they were $100 cheaper for custom exhaust and did a fantastic job with the welds and put my custom tips back on - I inspected the work after I got home. They finished my jeep in about 2 hours after dropping it off (I left to go back to work). They let me pay over the phone and I picked up my jeep after store hours and when I started it up...well lets just say I was very happy ripping out of the parking lot with that throaty flow master growl. Before they did any work, they showed me exactly where the problems were(by physically taking me underneath my car) and what they would do to fix them. Unlike most chain muffler shops, this place doesn't insist that you replace pretty much the whole exhaust system. As a result they are much more affordable. In addition, they are way less sleazy than those big chains. Got me in right away, was honest about the time it would take. In the middle of no where on Rt 1 (Newbury Street!). If going outbound on Rt 1, overshoot to Rt 114, get back on Rt 1 South. You can get into the break down lane to hunt for the driveway. Look for the truck out front! read more

Let's face it, no one likes spending money on their car, let alone for muffler work. BSM is the exception. I've taken two different cars there and both times I felt great about the experience afterwards. As other have written, there is no b.s. involved. They lift the car, run the "sensor wand" up and down the length of the muffler, pinpoint the problem, show you the problem, quote the price, do the work and then charge you the price they quoted. I had a loud sound coming from my SUV's exhaust system and was also worried about carbon monoxide poisoning. The dealership had given me an estimate in the thousands for leaks in various areas of the exhaust system, and they wouldn't be able to do it for nearly a month because of the backlog of repairs. I called Bay State Muffler the morning before Christmas Eve day (23 Dec) and asked if they had time to look at the car and give me a quote. They said they could give me a quote, but that I'd have to wait a few hours for the quote. Because it was the day before Christmas Eve, I wasn't expecting anything more than a quote for the repair. In reality, they not only gave me a quote and described in detail the areas that needed to be repaired, but they were also able to complete the work in two and half hours. Best of all, the work was a fraction of the cost ($450) of the dealership. My SUV is now running smooth and quiet, thanks to the team at Bay State Muffler.
