Today was the first day after long weekend and calling around no one was able to take me in. When Jamie heard what my problem was he ran through a couple of scenarios of low risk vs safety concerns and offered to take a look to make sure the car was safe to drive as he couldn't guarantee he could do more major work by today. Not only did they discover the safety issue but spent the time to fix the issue (and another one they found) and test drive the car to make sure it's be safe. All this for less than the price of an oil change (i.e. surprisingly low) In addition to great, kind, conscientious service it was also friendly and polite. You could hear it over the phone when I first called but I also saw it practiced in person with the two other people ahead of me in the waiting room. Both seemed to be regulars or at least familiar to the Jamie, and the conversations were just that...conversations back and forth and each time the payment came up Jamie said "Please"...now I just spent New Years with family so I know what polite for polite's sake sounds like...and Jamie's was genuine. I now end up taking care of my parent's car's upkeep whenever I visit and I'll be taking it back here! If you want good service, good prices, honest talk and polite treatment, well I can't think of why you wouldn't want to come here. read more

I needed my whole clutch rebuilt in my 370Z with specialized parts from a company in Ohio, the guys at FasTrack readily and confidently accepted the challenge and were phenomenal with communication, turnaround time, and quality of work. I had some concerns with an unfamiliar transmission noise after I picked it up, and they went above and beyond, having me bring it back and troubleshoot the issue without additional cost to me, even though it ultimately turned out to be an unfortunate byproduct of the upgraded flywheel. They came highly recommended to me by a friend with a wildly customized race car, and I couldn't be more grateful. The owner, Scott, is an alignment genius and knows so, so much about tires and suspension, up to and including track car setup, corner balancing of coil overs, etc. They're great for anything from oil changes and typical repairs to installation of aftermarket parts. They have a solid group of techs who are competent at repairing practically any make/model (this is not the case at most shops). They've worked on everything from a modified Audi S4 to an old Tahoe to a stock Corolla and Elantra for me, always with great results. They are honest with reasonable pricing. Great place for tires too, with pricing comparable to the big online stores. It's all about excellence in service, reliability, and honesty - all of which are demonstrated by every employee at this shop. I took my car in for an alignment after realizing that it hadn't had one for over 2.5 years (whoops) upon a recommendation a friend gave me. I made an appointment a week in advance and arrived a few minutes early just for courtesy's sake, and was thanked by the guy who checked me in for being timely. (I don't think that's ever happened to me before at a shop . . .) My car was brought in a little while later so I sat in their comfortable waiting room (complete with TV and WiFi) and worked on my laptop while the job was being done. Half an hour later, Scott (one of the owners who worked on my car) came out and explained the readout to me, charged me a very reasonable price for a stock alignment ($65!), and off I went. A few weeks later, I had to come back because something felt out of whack with the alignment (most likely due to poorly maintained New England back roads). I explained the situation to Scott and he examined my car again. After evaluating it and making a few adjustments, he explained to me what he saw and adjusted (nothing had shifted but he adjusted just to be safe since I was on snow tires and really old steelies). He didn't charge me for the time my car was up on the lift and the equipment was being used, and emphasized that I call him if anything else came up. Where else can I get such personalized service? I called; no-one in the office; had car towed to their shop. I feared there would have to be an argument to get them to take care of the problem. The next morning they called early, more concerned about whether we were alright than anything else. Not only was there no argument, they immediately told me they were fixing any problem and offered to pay my out of pocket expenses to get the car back to their shop. I usually pay $70-80 for a fully-synthetic oil change but only paid $35 (they give you a $10 oil change or 10% off service for first time customers!). I have been to a lot of different mechanics; it's absolutely not an exaggeration to say I'm a little fanatical about my cars. After being unhappy with the private mechanics in my home town (as well as my Infiniti dealer) I finally took to the internet to find a mechanic I would be ok with. A couple of attempts later and I found FasTrack auto and I have no intention of ever going anywhere else again. The owners are fantastic, patient, through and professional. Every time I have brought a car to them they have been nothing but communicative and fastidious. As a shop that does a lot of work on track cars, they really are suspension experts. After having a lot of problems with the steering on one of my cars (that 3 different shops had failed to fix), a single trip to these guys had it driving better than the day I bought it. After searching everywhere for a shop to give me decent price on a clutch replacement (most of them wouldn't even give me a solid estimate) for my 91 Miata I almost gave up but then I heard about FasTrack on a local car forum. Decided to give them a shot and I am 100% pleased with their service. They looked at my car, told me some things that were wrong with it but were honest with me on which ones really needed to be done, and gave me a solid, and fair, estimate on my clutch repair cost. From there it was very easy to schedule a time that worked for me. My car is 26 years old and I knew it wouldn't be an easy job and they said it gave them some trouble but it was still done the day they said it would be and for the price they quoted me for. Scott and Jamie are fantastic guys and gave me some extra information about my car which was cool, not many mechanics have the passion that is as evident as theirs is. They also have a pretty good relationship with the local car culture which means they do care about what they do. I moved to Boston 6 years ago and, as always, the hardest thing to find was a good mechanic. I yelped and best of boston'd - and tried those places. Yelpers try to be helpful, but it's pretty clear that most don't know anything about cars. Before coming here, I used to do all the work on my cars and know a modest amount. The mechanics I went to as suggested by Yelp and Best of Boston didn't impress me. They were all nice, as the reviews suggested, but when it came to questions and explaining things, I was always left feeling uncomfortable. Then I was chatting to a guy at work about my car (Ford Mustang) and he turned out to be a Mustang fanatic (moving on to Corvettes and finally a lime-green Porsche) and he suggested FasTrack. I started going to FasTrack probably 4 years ago and have gone nowhere else since. They're great. They know what they're doing, doing great work, good prices, explain things well, don't try to take advantage, and are nice about it. Really easy to work with and have actually answered questions over the phone that have allowed me to not come to them for work b/c I was able to take care of it myself with their help. Also, they have a loaner car - which is great for me b/c I live 20 miles away. But when you find a good mechanic you trust, you do whatever you have to. Got car back by 5:30pm same day. After settling up at the counter i gave them all my personal info as i had another car that may require service. After chatting for a minute, the person at the counter informed me that he didn't realize that i was a first time customer. I've taken my car to FasTrack twice for suspension work and there are a few aspects of the shop that stand out: quality of their work and honesty/professionalism/communication. I had an unusual noise coming from the front suspension on my car. Other shops either hadn't been able to hear the sometimes hard to reproduce noise and none were able to diagnose the noise. Upon a diagnosis visit to FasTrack, the tech Patrick said he had a common route around the shop that was good at reproducing suspension noises and he was in fact able to hear the noise. Patrick examined the front end and ended up completely disassembled both front coilover assemblies to find the source of the noise. Regarding communication, he showed me all the major components of the coilovers and the particular bearing that was worn allowing for play which was creating the noise. Patrick also mentioned that if the bearing in the spring perch was being replaced it would be cheap preventative maintenance to replace the bump stops and dust boots at the same time. I wasn't pressured to replace the additional parts and I appreciated the foresight of the recommendation when Patrick said there wouldn't be additional labor cost for replacing these inexpensive wear parts and it could prolong the life of the suspension in the future. Patrick also made note that he was able to perform all work without modifying the settings on the camber plates in my MINI which was appreciated. When scheduling the appointment for the repair, FasTrack set the expectations for my morning appointment that the work might not be completed until the afternoon and I appreciated them not over-promising and providing realistic expectations, especially considering it was pouring rain on my drive to Peabody which made me 10-15 minutes late. I needed a spoon to eat some food I had brought and Scott was happy to show me to the staff eating area. While talking to Scott at the front desk I had two questions regarding finding a rare part for my partner's Audi and also regarding snow tires. I mentioned I usually get my tires from TireRack and after reviewing their prices in addition to TireRacks, he said that given the limited number of snow tires for my car and a mail-in rebate TireRack was offering, it would be in my best interest to purchase from TireRack and FasTrack would be happy to mount/balance the tires for $17 a tire. Scott didn't have to check TireRack's prices but I appreciated the honesty and it gave me the feeling I could trust FasTrack's suggestions in the future as being in the best interest of the customer. The repair successfully resolved the issue and Patrick was kind enough to also notice the paint on the springs was cracking and starting to rust so he wrote down the part numbers should I need to order new springs in the future and he cleaned and repainted the springs without even asking! My only niggle is that although the repair of the coilovers took only marginally longer than the diagnosis (both full tear-downs and rebuilds and no alignment was performed), the cost for the repair was more than three times as expensive as the diagnosis. That could be a positive for the inexpensive diagnosis rate, but considering I had to contact the coilover manufacturer and supply my own parts, the labor cost was initially surprising. Given the quality of service I don't think it will dissuade me from going to FasTrack in the future, but I do think I'll make sure to ask for a quote or rough cost estimate before having any work performed in the future. Given the professionalism, quality of work, experience with tracked cars and aftermarket suspension components, honesty, clean waiting room and apparently an available loaner, I will happily recommend FasTrack to friends and family. read more

Great place. They are very professional and took care of my car even though it is not high performance. The mechanics are top notch. MY care only needed new brakes, and rotors but they acted like it was very important to them as any other work. The cost was reasonable. The only negative was that they took a few days to finish a basic job when they said it would only take one day. This did create an issue since I was borrowing a friend's car. I fully understand that they are a busy shop but they could be more straightforward with their time frames. read more
