A complete rip off & way over-priced. I just went in and asked them to check my battery & alternator. I asked how much it was for them to check it out & they said it's free as long as I get the repair done there. I was 90% sure I just needed a new battery, so I agree since batteries are usually only about $50 max. They said it'd be about an hour until they could look at it, so I left and they said they'd call me when they looked at it. About 3hrs later, I call and they haven't gotten to it yet. Another 3hrs or so later they email me a long list of things I "need" done (oil change even though I still had 1500 miles to go, new air filters, etc.) - in other words, all the things they tell you when they think you don't know anything about cars just to get you to pay more. I call and say I just want the new battery - they tell me it'll be $170. Since when is a battery $170? They give me a long-winded explanation of how their batteries are way better than other places and last ten years - which I don't care about because my car is already 11yrs old and probably only has another 2-3yrs left on it. I say never mind, I'll just pay whatever it cost to check the battery and I'll go get one from AutoZone for $40.. Then they tell me it's $140 for them to check it because they spent an hour looking at it. This is where my issue is because 1. I asked you to check my battery & alternator. You did all that extra stuff on your own accord. 2. How did it take you over an hour to check my battery, look at my oil change sticker, and check some air filters? If that took you over an hour, you have some bigger issues. & 3. What kind of mechanic charges $140/hr for labor? In the end I would've spent more to pay for their $140 scam and get a battery elsewhere, so I told them to just put a new battery in, but I was pissed that they completely ripped me off. Then to make it even worse, they told me be sure to come by 6 before they close. I get there at 5:45 to pick it up and they "forgot" to put a new battery in. So then I had to sit and wait for them to do it - which takes like 5 minutes, so again not sure how they charged so much for labor. Long story short, I will never return because who the hell pays $140/hr for labor? And they completely manipulated me. read more

Summary: I needed two windows put up before a thunderstorm so it didn't rain in on my car. They tried to outrageously charge me $450 for the easy fix. After I picked up my jaw off the floor and laughed at them, they magically backed down to $310. I walked away. I called my usual guy and he did the fix for free. Know how much you should be paying before you step in here. Detail: Went here because it was close and had great reviews. Called and told them my problem and they told me to head down. They quoted me $450 for 3.6 hours of work or something ridiculous to open two door panels and jack up my windows so they wouldn't fall down since my regulators broke and I just didn't want rain in my car. I didn't ask them to fix the regulators, just get my windows up. So no parts. She told me bmws are complicated and it'll take them 2 hours to open the door panel and fix the front window and something like 1.5 hours to fix the back one. Then she said $450. I laughed and said that was ridiculous. It took another mechanic 10 minutes to open up my door panel when this happened before. She backed down to $310 and said that it would take at least an hour for each. So they are charging a ridiculous rate for labor? Mechanics do not earn 150/hr. I told her that I was expecting to pay $50 and left. I called my usual guy (who is very far away from me) and he took me in and is fixing it FOR FREE. That's how not big of a deal this fix was. And he did both windows in 30 minutes. No bueno autolab. I feel like you just lived up to that shitty mechanic stereotype who likes to take advantage of people who aren't knowledgable about cars and charge ridiculous prices. read more

They will try to win you over as a customer by offering finance and guaranteeing their work for three years with a warranty. Only to find out the price for repairs are marked way up. Higher than they should be. And thats just for the parts needed for repair. Also very sloppy with how they treat your car. I don't know what the backseat has to do with engine repair but when I got my car back the light brown leather in my back seat was covered in oil and grease like the mechanic decided to take a nap after he finished. read more

I thought I had found a gem in this place but it turns out it was just a dirt clod; had oil change & inspection was told my back brakes were bad and was quoted $455.00 to fix and that I had a small oil leak but that it could wait till nxt oil change... I went in to Toyota dealer to have brakes done as they had a special going and was told my back brakes are like "brand new!" Didnt need a brake job! But, the small oil leak was the gasket for timing chain and needed replacing- if i would have let that go it couldve meant a much more expensive fix. I was outright lied to and dont appreciate that. Well let me tell you about my experience with Autolab..(it's not good)..THIS PLACE A SCAM!.. .I first took my 2000 subaru outback to have my airconditioner serviced. I had no problems with my vehicle other than the airconditioner. My airconditioner had been serviced with Misty telling my radiator was leaking atifreeze. I took it to another machanic to check the radiator and he said my radiator was fine. A c week later I need a transmission. Autolab put a used transmission which failed me on the highway. I was stranded for hours. They put in another used transmission, which still isn't right and my airconditioner doesn't work. I take it back to make airconditioner right . They told me it's a bolt that broke and it will cost more money. I told them I am not giving them anymore money. Daniel came running out of the shop telling it's under warrenty, when he had told 5 minutes earlier that that bolt wasn't under warranty. I told him to fix and fix it right. It's one of the first mechanics that I have ever worked with that truly seemed like they cared about doing a great job for me and my family and not just trying to rack up unnecessary costs or unneeded repairs. Jason the owner has been a god send helping my son in college find a reliable safe car for a reasonable amount of money, helping us sell a car, and of course doing repairs. If u r looking for a mechanic who does quality work that is ethical, this is the perfect place. I have consulted with them on purchasing a vehicle. Jason even offered to teach my son how to drive a stick shift. You won't get this kind of service anywhere else, especially for hope reasonable the prices are. And Jason is not the exception at this shop, his staff are so helpful and considerate and they truly try to educate you so u completely understand. Ok... so there is a lot of hype about machanics. Especially if you are a woman. Always having to worry if u are being taken advantage of and having to bring a boyfrind, husband or whatever into the shop to explain your problems with your car, NOT ANYMORE!!! Honestly, at Autolab, there is none if that. I am a woman, with limited experience in cars. Sure I do my reasearch, but I was not in auto class in highschool. I've brought my car to them a few times. Some major, and some minor. I've got to tell you, they are absolutely fantastic. With them being a true family owned business, they really care about their customers. They always want to make sure you drive home safe. They back their work up 200%. I have to say, Jason, Wiley, Krissy, Misty and the whole crew at Autolab are finominal. They treat you like their own friend or family member. They are always available to help you. Trust me ladies... Autolab will always be honest and NEVER be sneaky. I absolutely love Autolab, and they will be the only place I take my cat for repair. Or even oil changes. Anyone else, is an underdog to them. I really hoped my review was useful. Now... I do have to emphasize, that are a family owned business, they are not open on Saturdays and Sundays, but that's ok... I will always find a way to see them during the week if needed. Like many others, I have searched high and low for a reliable, competent and reasonable place to have my vehicles serviced. I think I've found it in the guys at Autolab. When I called for an appointment they were very accommodating - the service was completed when they said it would be, the charge was, wait for it, less than what they had estimated because one of the service items was not necessary. Imagine that - an auto mechanic that doesn't ring you up for every possible revenue opportunity. When I picked the vehicle up I had forgotten to bring a discount coupon from a mailer and I neglected to mention the coupon until after the charges had been run through. Most places would have said "too bad" but the guys at Autolab went out of their way to honor the discount (even though I had not brought the coupon with me). They didn't need to do it and certainly could have been jerks - but they are clearly in it for the long term. I'll be taking all of my vehicles to them from now on and would highly recommend that you do as well. read more

This review is long overdue. Autolab has been great in working with me on various repairs. I first went to Autolab simply because I needed a oil change and I had a coupon. Not too long after that my A.C. stopped blowing out cold air conveniently at the time when Denver was hitting 100 degrees F. They were willing (specificially Greg) to talk with my Dad and beat other shops prices. I have more pricey repairs coming up and my Dad (who is my go to car guy) is able to call from out of state and learn more on what needs to be done. In addition, the emails with pictures are very helpful. Now I only plan on taking my car to Autolab even for just an oil change because they do a full car evaluation and have caught an issue (my differentials leaking) that if not noticed could have turned into a very pricey repair. They don't have the facilities to have it be a quick in and out oil change but it is still worth it. read more

Because Autolab was unable to identify the problem the first time, my car died a second time & they wanted to charge me an exorbitant amount to repair. A loose camshaft is apparently a known problem with Hondas, which caused the initial breakdown & $700 radiator replacement. Yet they did not identify or fix the problem, causing a second breakdown & an estimate of $2,400 to repair a 16-year-old vehicle. When I balked at the price, Wiley's response was, "You know we offer no-interest financing." I then asked him to send me the estimate in writing, and--surprise!--it was for half that cost. I called & spoke with owner Jason Colson about both issues, & rather than being sympathetic or accommodating, he was overly defensive to the point of attacking me, the customer. Took my 97 honda civic to them a few months back because the the alignment was bad. not only did they fix my alignment but they also found me new tires at an affordable price. this place sux and are big ripoffs.had 1200 dollars worth of work ,which was twice the amount i shouldve paid. and put brake sho es on my car,which fell off after 2 weeks due to the caliper pin comiing off. i couldve beeen seriously hurt if i was on the freeway. how can you own a auto shop and cant even put on brake shoes correctly.. i will never go here again and will definetly put out the word on this poor excuse for a auto repair shop. I will never return to AUTO LAB on South Broadway, not even to enforce the 36,000 mile warranty on the work that I have had done there. I stopped in yesterday because my Volvo was overheating with the gauge near the red zone. The guy at the front desk, either Wyatt or Wylie with a shaved head, was a smart aleck. He denied having discussed my Check Engine button that I had reported when my car was towed to them in January this year for $1,800' worth of repairs. Wyatt/Wylie also claimed that he would not have checked the Check Engine light because that would have been a "fee". I paid $1,800 for the repairs, so another couple bucks for an accurate diagnosis would not have been an issue. The man also claims to have no memory of the fact that he said in January that the tech had checked the Check Engline light, but they would have to "look up" the code and had not done it. Prior to January, I was happy with the service and the customer service of another front desk guy on 8/31/2015. Wyatt/Wylie tried embarrass me yesterday in a full waiting area by referring to the damage I had done to the roof of the rental car in January when the unlit north parking lot entrance had the chain pulled across it while the business lights were still on and one or more overhead doors were open close to closing time. In January of this year, Auto Lab kept my car for a full seven (7) days, and had set my pickup days three times. I was driving two hours at Rush Hour from I-76 east to get to Auto Lab by 6pm to pick up the car, but on that Monday it was not ready; on Tuesday, Wyatt/Wylie phoned me when I was just three blocks away to tell me it was still not ready; on Wednesday evening it finally was ready for pickup. AUTO LAB is not reliable, not well-organized, and after radiator work and a complete oil leak repair totaling circa $1,000, my Volvo is leaking oil. I am the customer who will never return, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Terrible repair service!!! Autolab/Jason aka owner promised work at a substantially lower price than I was charged. Additionally, he left town to Sturgess after I was left to believe he as ASE Certified Tech would perform work and subordinated laborers failed to attach many plugs & hoses causing many addl repairs. My truck broke down only miles after leaving their shop due to this incompetence. Realizing his shops negligence, Jason- owner, offered to pay for car rental which he later re-nigged on.
