Not sure where to start other than to say this was an horrendous experience in used car shopping. So bad that I've created a Yelp account to detail it. We walk in the front door. Unlike every car show room I've been to, no one greets us. I go to the counter, behind which some guy is eating lunch. We make our presence known, he gets up, swallows his food, wipes his mouth with his hand and offers a handshake. Introduces himself as the manager. First hand sanitizer usage. We explain we had called ahead for a test drive and he tells us he'd find someone to speak to us. We really left alone at the front desk, no offer of a seat despite the squirming toddler in my arms. When a salesman shows up he has an awful smell of stale cigarette smoke about him. He introduces himself and offers a handshake. Second hand sanitizer usage. This guy then goes to find the keys. While we are waiting another family arrives. The manager is finishing his lunch and again, no one greets them. After several minutes I let that family know that they have to go and let the manager know they are here. Salesman returns. Can't find the keys. Says the cleaning guys must've taken it home with them. He does however allow us to look at the outside of the car in the rain. Across the lot, up a slightly muddy mulched embankment. We peer through windows in the rain. As we leave the salesman somehow realized that I'm the guy who called ahead for a test drive and he now knows where the keys are. So we are brought to another part of the showroom across the lot. Any chance the wife can change the baby in the bathroom we ask? Nope. No bathroom here, you have to go back across the lot to the other showroom. So I jump in for a test drive. The interior is disgusting. It's dirty, sticky and smelly. The rear seat has light and dark stains that have a worrying moldiness to them. I feel a tinge of sadness for the incontinent homeless man who was seemingly evicted when Automax purchased the car. This in a car that I was told the cleaner had just been in. Third hand sanitizer usage. We go for a run around the block and it's at this point that I notice that the salesmans stake cigarette smell is accompanied by the smell of alcohol. Possibly today's, maybe last nights. Overpowering none the less. Can I DUI on fumes? The fact that the car drives terribly, has a worrying shudder as it goes round a corner, is just the icing on the cake. We didn't even manage to get to whatever nonsense may ensue when we start talking dollars, nor the chance for a fourth hand sanitizing. I get that shopping for a used car carries its perils, but the presentation of the salesman and manager, the lack of courtesy, the distinct lack of care or respect for the customer took the whole experience to new levels. Used car salesman often times have a harshly applied reputation. Not in this case however. read more

Found the exact vehicle with the mileage I was looking for at a great price. I'm transitioning from a job out of state and this was a replacement for my wife's car that was on the fritz. We had a problem with the headlight and they worked with me and took care of the issue even with the vehicle being out of state! I'd buy from them again. read more

Buying a car from Auto Max in Framingham was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. They were so rude to us that I had to create a Yelp account just to write about it. Among other things I was promised a smoke treatment that was not done, the floormats (that I had to ask for when picking the car up- they weren't going to include it otherwise) slide and don't hook in at all, and the sales rep (Manny Soto) and the manager (Chris) were of no help. After I signed I was told to pick up on Tuesday, so I came in at noon. The car wasn't ready so I waited for it to be cleaned, 40 mins go by still not done. I had to come back again for the second time that day after work. Manny had zero patience for us, blew us off ("I'm really busy" - guess what, so are we!), and literally walked away from us mid-sentence like the true professional that he is. He basically scolded me, gave such attitude, and treated me with no respect. I'm the customer, I'm paying more than $15,000 - when I come to pick my car up, treat me with respect bc I'm a human and bc I'm your CUSTOMER. I finally speak to the manager, who is also the finance guy, and he told me they would give me a second key for my 2015 car "at our cost" which I assumed meant complimentary. After scanning my license he tells me it will be $220 for the second key. After all that hassle and horrible customer service I would at least expect that to be taken care of. Per the words of Chris: "if I could give it to you, I would". I find it hard to believe the manager wouldn't be able to comp that. ***After driving the car off the lot, I found a Ritz Cracker wrapper in one of the compartments. Interesting how it was located inside the compartment.*** HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Once you sign, be prepared to be disregarded and talked down to. I had the worst experience with this dealer. I went in to look at a dodge 1500 (that they said was on the lot when I called) when I got there it was not there they said it was being serviced. So I went back about a week later to pick it up they told me everything was all set and it was ready to go. The minute I got on the highway I kept getting jerked all over the highway. It scared me and I've never been scared driving before. Thankfully my child wasn't in the car. So I immediately turned around and went and got my car that I was trading in and they told me they were sorry and they'd fix everything. They said when I come back to pick it up there would be a sticker and my registration would be all set. I pick it up it was on empty so they put 10$ IN A DODGE RAM. I love 45 minutes away 10$ isn't going to do anything they couldn't even fill it after all the trouble I went through. Also no sticker was put on and no registration in the truck. I had to call and scream my head off to get these people to do their damn job and send me my registration. There is so much more i could write about the horrendous experience. They are incredibly shady, just want your money and don't give a damn about their customers. ALSO they never sent proper paper work to my insurance company and let me drive off the lot with an un-insured vehicle. Could not agree more with every bad review on this site. DO NOT GO HERE Went there because they had the lowest price for the model and year and mileage Audi Q5 we were looking for. There were price discrepancies between Autotrader and Edmunds. After they told me that the Autotrader price was the lowest price I pulled the Edmunds price out and they then said that was the lowest price. Test drove it and found problems with the brakes, tires, air vents, torn splash guards, dents, scratches and no tire jack. Of course they don't tell you about them up front but the sales rep responded in a way that indicated they knew about all the issues. They didn't have a second key but they were willing to get me one at "cost". The key they did have was taped together and missing the manual key. I said it needs a second key free. They said no. That was the first walk. They called me back and then said the key would be free. Then they proceeded to tell me they would have everything fixed at the dealer and that it was still covered under Audi warranty. I asked for assurance that it was and they pointed to CarFax. I told them I required proof from Audi and they "had never heard of anyone asking for that". I called Audi afterwards and it is transferable if you fill out a form and pay a fee. Then they spring the $600 document fee. That was the second walk. They didn't call me back. I then proceeded to my second choice and had no hassles and got a properly working car with less miles and even though it looked more expensive online it was cheaper after the documentation fees. DO NOT GO HERE If you do go there do your homework, expect sleazy practices, don't trust anything they say and get your mechanic to check the car and all repairs before paying anything. read more

Of course, there were minor issues. But, remember these are USED cars. I love my car. Some of those reviews are dated since 2006. I suggest go for yourself. Just awful. Car had a window leak and had jump through hoops just to get it fixed. Be prepared to be pawned in all different directions if you have issues. Fixed the roof leak only to find out they forgot to plug in the moonroof which is additional time spent on driving it back there to fix. And when they fixed it the first time the fabric had black smears all over it. Where is the quality. No where to be found here. read more

I am giving Mike Hanley a 5 star rating. I have purchased at least 6 cars in the last 13 years and this was by far the best car shopping experience I have had. I walked in and in less than 5 minutes Mike had the car ready for a test drive. There was no gimmicks, no haggling, and NO PRESSURE put on me. Upon returning to the dealer we sat down, Mike asked how much are you willing to pay for the truck. I gave him a number and he came back and said it is done. There was no BS. Mike is a straight shooter and will make your shopping experience an awesome one. I will also give Anna a great review. She had all the financial paperwork ready to go, explained in detail every single figure, and answered all my questions. I took off 2 stars because no service was done on my car. It was washed and delivered. I ended up taking my car to the dealership and having the service done. This is nothing against the sales and finance team, it is a service department issue which the should addressed. If I'm judging Automax sales people, Jeff and Matt I give them a five stars! However, if I'm judging Automax as a company I give them three stars. The reason I say three stars is because the Automax policies do not favor the customer. I tried to use my own financing but they made it relatively impossible to do so. I was only aware of the 599 dealership fee because I asked them if there was any fees... It was not included in the price. We ended up with the car we wanted with low miles at a great price, however, there was no negotiation with the price. They offered me $375 for a trade in that I sold within 3 days for $1,800. I give kudos to Jeff and Matt the salespeople for making the process bearable at AutoMax. We got a great car at a great price but we did have to go with their financing, and had to visit the dealership several times. Being from Maine made the purchase difficult because of the distance and they did not have the appropriate paperwork from the state of Maine to make the sale goes smoothly. Bottom line as a company I give them three stars but because of their excellent sales people, who went over and beyond to make sure we were satisfied, so I gave the automax experience four stars. Worst service worst experience! There is a reason why everyone is giving them poor ratings! They had the cheapest price but not worth the experience! My service light was on when they sold me the car and said they would take care of that and my glove box which had no handle. Took them a MONTH to fix the issues after I had to chase them down and call numerous times to get service. Dwayne was my sales guy and told me anything but the truth and Kim at service was not better. Then they tell you to keep your loan with them for at least three months after they finance you which is kind of high, so they can get another kick back of money from the bank. After what they put me through I refinanced my loan immediately and got a lower interest rate, aaa or credit unions are much better than what they offer. WORST EXPERIENCE, STAY AWAY read more

**CAUTION** This Dealership lacks customer service and professionalism. I unfortunately purchased a lemon here and they made numerous mistakes. 1st- they illegally passed the state inspection while knowing that my hazard lights did not work along with 2 exhaust leaks. 2nd -I was left stranded 30 miles from home with no car because my new car was not safe to drive.**THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER OR RENTAL!** I had my three year old to take home to top it all off. 3rd- They had my car over a week to make repairs and when I call looking for an update all I hear is "I don't know" or "That's not my job" with no one calling me back with an honest answer. 4th- Management there is lazy and they only care about getting your money, once the deal is made you are no longer important or respected. During all my visits at this dealership I have come across a handful of customers with issues with their cars and one of them had to wait over a week for the dealer to "locate" the title to her new car! Dishonest and sleezy. Let me tell you why. We found a car online that we've been looking for. Live 45 min away, so called to confirm availability. Answer was yes, scheduled an appointment, and got a name of the salesperson to ask for when we got there. We arrived within an hour and a half. Surprise! The car had been sold. (Within an hour and a half?!) A different salesperson than the one we had first been told to contact discovered this when he tried to look it up to show it to us. I do believe Luis/"Gigabyte" was genuinely surprised and apologetic. Gave us the story that they have many offices, sometimes deals are made elsewhere, it can take "awhile" to get to their system. Blah, blah. Happily tried to hook us up with another car, and to his credit, he was helpful. However, the sold story is bulls*it and matches other's reviews here. 3 days later the car is still listed online. On a whim I filled an online contact form 2 days after our failed showing. They have my contact info and know I was ready to buy. I'm sure the sale didn't go through and it's just a much better business strategy to lower the price and try to keep selling it online... #sarcasm The email I got 2 1/2 days after we went in and were told it had "just" sold. I had a completely different experience than all of these other posts. These guys were extremely nice and very easy to work with. I have had my truck for 2 weeks and have had it inspected by my (independent) mechanic. It is in great shape and condition. I found automax through a listing in Kelly Blue Book. They were offering the truck I was looking for at a price lower than a lot of other local listings. We headed down to test drive. When we got there we weren't swarmed by sales guys and the staff was friendly. John R (or JR) helped us. He was extremely nice and very easy going. We told him the car we wanted to test drive and he pulled it around without questions/issues/complaints. All I had to do was sign a test drive waiver (understandable). He wasn't in our face, high pressure in any way. When we got back, we sat down to negotate the price (which happens at all dealerships). I didnt feel I HAD to stay but I was also eager to buy. One pointer, know the overall/bottom line you want to pay. It makes negotiations quick and much less painful. Be willing to walk away but make sure what you're execting to pay is reasonable. They say their already low prices are non-negotiable, but ALL things are negotiable (trade in, financing, warranty). We finished negotiating within 15 min. We ended up getting an excellent price. I actually left there not feeling ripped off! From a used car dealership! If you have to go through the painful process of buying a car, might as well give these guys a try. read more

Worst experience in my life. I talk to a Salesman about a car I put a deposit on . I drove from Halifax all the way up to Framingham and that's four hours of my life I'll never get back. We got there we took it for a test drive the computer system was down so they couldn't get the paperwork for me to sign and I'm waiting like over an hour just to find out that they've already sold that vehicle I've already put a deposit on. I put a deposit down on a car which turned out to be part of BMW's open Airbag Recall. I requested a refund. I was lied to multiple times about the refund and when it would be processed. I was also told they would email me a copy of the receipt, and I ended up having to show up to get it. It has been over a month and I've now had to file a dispute with my credit card company for the charges. I'm glad I didn't buy a car from them. They made promises to fix a couple of things, and It'd rather be fig thing over $100 than over thousands! Stay away from them. Just another stereotypical car dealer. -John read more

The only positive I can say is that I love the car I purchased. Here is my experience: I bought a 08 Jeep Wrangler about a week ago from here. The "no hassle" price was $16,690. They gave me a decent value on my trade in, $7,500. After that they raised that "no hassle" price to close to $19k. I picked up the Jeep two days later because evidently they do a 180 point inspection after the vehicle is purchased. Mind you I live 45 minutes away from Framingham. So as I'm driving it home I smell this burning smell. I get off the highway and take it to my moms house because it's closer than mine. The front left wheel is smoking. The caliper and break of were seized and if I drive it any further they would have caught fire. So I called them and explained the situation and they wanted me to drive it back to the shop. I told them absolutely not they will send a tow truck down and pick it up. They arrived at my mothers house at 10pm to pick up the Jeep. The next day I got a call around 4pm saying it was dropped back off at the house. Now they do the inspection and registration at the dealership but since they didn't see the rusted old pads and calipers during the "180 point inspection" I decided to do my due diligence and get it inspected by my local mechanic. I didn't have the reg yet but he did me a solid since I know the guy pretty well. So he checked it up and down in and out and it passed with flying colors. Now, I'm trying to get in touch with the salesman because I need my registration. He told me that if aI get the vehicle inspected I can email him the inspection and they will reimburse me and email me the registration. So I called the shop 7 times in 2 days never getting in contact with my salesman. I finally had the receptionist have him call me back ASAP. I have yet to receive a phone call from him. So I finally called back today asking to speak with a manager. I told him the situation that I need my registration and I am not driving 45 minutes for a piece of paper especially when the salesman said I could get it emailed to me. The manager agreed took down my email address and said it would get sent out right away. 5 hours later and still no reg. This is been by far the most frustrating car buying experience I have ever had. These people suck at communication. Stay far away from Automax dealerships. read more

Great experience. Fast enough for a car dealership. I went to a few. They were so beyond slow. I'm an "in and out" kind of person. I like to get things done. So I would prefer not sitting around places forever, sitting alone, while the sales person is going back and forth with bosses and whispering. Let's get it done. That is the worst about all car places unfortunately, but this place was pretty good with their speed! So they were good on that, but it was kind of dead. Lol. This place definitely had the car sales vibe going on, like all the rest, but surprisingly were fast enough, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. So my experience was great! The sales atmosphere is a little stressful to walk into, maybe there should be a bit of music or something, but I didn't wait as long as I did at Toyota. Plus I like my Kia better. BUYER BEWARE - this dealership has the worst service department, shady handling of their vehicles, and terrible customer service. I spent over thirty thousand dollars on one of their vehicles. When you spend that type of money, you would expect the dealership to stand behind their product. Well, a few months later I went to get an oil change at another service center and they found that Automax had used after market, cheap parts on a luxury car and incorrectly serviced my car prior to me purchasing it. Their mishandling of my car resulted in oil leaking around my engine and alternator. Thank goodness it was caught before causing further and highly expensive issues. I even gave Automax the chance to rectify the situation. I took an afternoon off from my job to drive there and discuss the issue with their service team and show them the photos and description of the damage. What I got was a condescending service manager trying to tell me that I was wrong, and that "oil seepage is normal." She simply didn't care. This place should be investigated. Just while I was standing at the service desk waiting to see the manager, about three other customers came up with complaints or mistakes they noticed. As if it could get worse - the general manager would not even answer my e-mail. On behalf of someone who did purchase a car here, PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE and do not have any business dealings with Automax. There are far better dealerships neighboring them. And let me just say - I never have written a bad review on Yelp or any other forum, but I hope this stops at least one person from giving Automax a lot of money in exchange for unprofessional staff and a product that is not properly taken care of. read more

I'm a bit surprised by some of the reviews on here and not sure I would have gone if I had read some of them, but I think everyone approaches car buying different. We were looking for a gently used Acura MDX or something in that category (Infiniti, Lexus) and had already been to an Acura dealership up the road. I discovered Automax price shopping on some of the auto sites and felt they were priced very competitively. The first thing that made a difference to us was the selection of vehicles. We were able to look at and drive a variety of vehicles beyond our original list (BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Honda, Toyota) and do very convenient comparisons. I read that folks seem upset at the lack of attention, but we loved the fact that they let us browse and drive at our leisure. Each time we returned a car, Sam (our sales guy) would have the next one ready to hop into when we pulled back in. So much better than the typical dealer experience. I will agree with one thing, that this dealer does high volumes so cars moved fast, we almost lost out on the car we wanted because of another couple looking for the same thing while we were there. At the Acura dealer they offered us a ludicrous trade in offer on our trade-in initially ($850 for a loaded 2004 Acura MDX) before coming up with a real offer. When we went to Automax they beat Acura's trade-in offer by $1000. Additionally I had a preapproved rate deal on the car loan and Automax got financing 2% better 5.75 vs 7.75..... They have great Prices, cant be beat. We did our research and dealt with David the Finance Manager directly. He took care of us with a lower A.P.R. and less down payment. I have nothing bad to say about these guys. I would strongly suggest you buy a car from them. Many of the Cars may have higher miles or don't have warranty. But they all come with a CarFax and higher miles is not necessarily a major issue like before because cars now are made built to last. read more

Just had a horrible experience here. NEVER AGAIN! Sent an email on Friday asking if a car was available for a test drive. Received an email back that it was so we went over. Car was being serviced and not available to drive until Monday. Received 5 robo-emails from someone we never met but "enjoyed speaking to us". Went back Monday night to drive it right before closing. Told our sales guy- Rich- that we wanted to buy it and tried to leave a deposit. He said that they don't take deposits. Told him that we could come in around 2 the next day with a bank check (which we were told was the best way to pay). He said- no problem. I would have loved to buy their vehicle but they use deceptive advertising. They advertised a vehicle as having 26000 miles and I asked for the vin# and they took 24 hours to give it to me. I do a search and lo and behold=the mileage warranty was expired at 100,000 mile drivetrain in 2016. I sent them a text telling them this is deceptive selling. Said they lied on the sales receipt claiming it had x amount of miles when records say otherwise. Then they claim it's a one car ownership that is commercial. That info wasn't even available to me despite many searches for back info. I say ignore their flashy deals and also the photo of the odometer on their site didn't list the mileage=instead the error message for check pressure monitoring device was displayed. There's a button to push to get to the actual mileage but I felt this was very deceptive. Run AWAY! read more

In June of 2018 I purchased a 2015 Audi Q5 from Automax of Framingham. After the salesman and I negotiated the purchase price I asked that I could get in writing that the brakes were replaced as contingency of the sale. He gave me a written document stating that the brakes were in excellent condition and were replaced. This past March I went back to the dealership to inquire as to why my brakes were vibrating at highway speed. The three sales managers sitting up front would or could not help me. So I left in frustration. Over the last month I have replaced both the front and rear brake pads and rotors as the originals were never replaced. They were rusted and the pads were glazed over. The mechanic that worked on my car stated that the brake pads and rotors were never replaced as they were rusted and worn out to a point that it was dangerous for me to drive my car. I went up back to the dealership today with the rotors and pads in hand to show the condition of the original parts. We inquired as to what could be done for this situation. We spoke to a female manager as well as the service manager who stated that there was no record of when I came to the dealership in March at which time we complained that the brakes were not right. The managers stated that there was no documentation that we were even at the dealership this past March and there was nothing they could do for me.! I have a paper signed by their former sales associate stating that the brakes were in excellent condition and were replaced by the service department. The service manager stated that he did not recognize the paper and could not verify that the brakes and rotors that we brought in were indeed the original parts to my car! He inferred that we could have picked them up anywhere and brought them in. So because of the mileage on the car he stated there was nothing he would or could do for us. Talk about no service after the sale. I asked if he would go to a sales manager because I know that managers can make decisions based on what's recommended and correct for the customer! Without even speaking to the sales manager, who was the service manager's superior, the sales department manager said he agreed with the service manager and he would not do anything for me. Buyer beware! Stay well away from AutoMax in Framingham as they will lie to make a sale and never back up the sale with the proper service!! I will never, ever recommend anyone to go to this car dealership and I will in fact tell everyone I know, and I know a lot of people in and around the Central as area as well as the MetroWest Mass area to never frequent this car dealership ever! read more

Worse car experience, Car was fairly priced and I got almost nothing for my trade in...I was called back because they mess up the loan documents, a couple days later I need to drive back again to get my registration because apparently they don't understand how the DMV or the post office works! Took the car for the inspection, it failed inspection..I became invisible after the loan was signed. The customer service is appalling. Still no done with this deal... read more
