I bought a car at automax last weekend, and then came online after the fact and started reading some of the reviews on here. Now I'm not prepared to belittle anyone else's subjective experience, but there are a few reviews on here that were so completely misguided and uninformed that I straight-up made a yelp account (for the first time ever) to reply to a few of these and give this place some credit. First, there seems to be a post a few weeks ago where some girl bad-mouths the salesman and finance guys for attempting to "CON" her into buying their warrenty and GAP coverage. She leads whomever happens to have the misfortune of reading her words to believe that GAP coverage and warrenties are somehow inherently a scam, that she was being "tricked" into paying more monthly. Allow me to disabuse her of this notion, as I myself worked for an insurance company for years, and later at major car dealership in the area. It's stupid NOT to take GAP coverage, and I'm sure the good people of automax were simply trying to help this poor idiot get out of her own way and save her from losing 5 grand if she gets in an accident on the ride home from the dealership. And the warrenty? They sell ALL PREOWNED, Super-Nice, foreign cars at automax. I get taking your chances on a preowned Toyota or something, but if you're going to be over 20k for a 3 year old infiniti or Acura?? YEAH, you want the friggin warrenty. Again, it's so completely misguided of people to ding this place for trying to help their customers out, and if they react with incredulity when someone makes such an obviously stupid decision, than so be it. Now let me talk about MY experience. I got there, it was kind of a shitty Saturday, so it wasn't super busy. I didn't have an appointment, and I was helped out immediately by two different salesman and a manager. I ended up with Sam, who was a genuinely awesome guy, not at all the con-artist scammers you get at almost every dealership in the world. I swear, this place was actually different, and again, I've worked at a dealership, for a VERY high end automaker, and these guys at automax are SAINTS compared to some of the guys (and girls, for that matter) that I've worked with. The price on the car I wanted was first and foremost, a really good price. Not outrageously cheapl, but way more than fair, and I was honestly expecting something to be wrong with the car, something on the carfax or some issue with it's history. But not at all - it was clean as a whistle. I loved, my wife loved it, it was perfect. Then came the insurance. I called my agent, who of course wasn't around on Saturday, then called into to the actual company and was told my rates would go up $140 by buying the new car. I sat down with the insurance agent, also a super helpful guy, and in like 10 minutes, and he knocked my rate DOWN, $20 a month UNDER what I had been paying for my older, shittier car. This was fully $1500 a year cheaper than what my own company was prepared to do for me, and with BETTER property/liability coverage, which I didn't even know about walking in there. I then went into financing, the guy there was great too, friendly, knew what he was doing. At no point was I "conned" into anything, it was completely ZERO pressure, not at all like some finance guys I've known. He got me pretty much exactly what I needed, and registered the car, and like, 15 minutes later I drove out of there with a nicer car, worth 5 times as much as the one I traded in, making the same car payment, and paying less for insurance. I honestly couldn't believe it, I was waiting all along for the bottom to drop out. Oh, and you can bet I got the warrenty and everything. There is absolutely no reason to bash this place. It's a diamond in the rough, kind of obscure, but a well kept secret. I have buddies who've gone here, and have all said the same thing. Anyone hating on this place is simply uninformed and frankly doesn't deserve to get the kind of nice cars they sell at the prices they have. That's honeslty the most unreal part. Their cars are all 10-15% lower than what any reasonable person would guess, and all super low milage, all in mint condition. I've never seen anything like it, and I would recommend to absolutely anyone who at least knows what they're doing and talking about as far as buying cars. Awesome experience, overall. read more

Facts: I was in the market for a gently used BMW 4 series convertible. I saw a number of 2015 models just coming off 3 year leases, but didn't want to go that old. Looking on CarGurus I saw AutoMax in Framingham had a number of 2018 model year vehicles to choose from. Even though it was about an 80 minute drive for me coming up from Rhode Island I figured I would take a look. Upon my unscheduled arrival on Friday (12/14) I was greeted by Fabiana Massote. I knew exactly what vehicle I was initially interested in, which obviously made the process easier. Following a test drive I explained I was hoping to trade in two well-maintained cars, one of which I had driven there. Rather than discuss any finances at this time, Fabiana suggested I come back with the other vehicle so they could conduct an appropriate assessment and then put a deal together. I went back the next day with the other car, and in short order I was presented with a trade-in value for the two that was virtually to the dollar of what I was hoping for. Following a meeting with Dave in Finance I made a quick trip to the local branch of my hometown bank, and within minutes I was back with a check for the difference and the deal was signed. Fabiana and I conducted a walkthrough of the condition of the "new" car and she agreed to have a few minor scuffs (typical BMW "curb rash") taken care of. One wrinkle in the transaction was the fact that the vehicle would be registered in Rhode Island, and would require a VIN check at a Rhode Island inspection facility prior to registration. Fabiana coordinated that activity, and the following Friday (12/21) I dropped off my trade in and drove away in my "new" 2018 BMW 430ix convertible. Opinion: From our first meeting, Fabiana demonstrated a level of professionalism and personality that can't be taught (or faked); she was the real deal. She listened to what I had to say, provided guidance throughout the process, and ultimately made sure that I received what I was looking for. The process was as low-pressure as you could ever imagine: I felt I was in the driver's seat (OK - slight pun intended) the entire time. Fabiana is a fantastic ambassador for the business, Dave was quick and efficient with the documentation, the facility is sparkling clean and screams "upscale" and "quality", and everyone I observed during my time there was professional and courteous. Conclusion: My buying experience with AutoMax in Framingham was outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone I know to visit them for their auto buying needs. BTW: This car is simply fantastic! Final Question Can I give them 6 stars? read more

My experience with Automax has been delightful. I searched online and visited several dealerships over the past month looking for a new car. I randomly found Automax and my amazing car while searching the Kelly Blue Book site. I walked into Automax with 3 options that I wanted to explore. I was paired with Felipe Amabile who immediately began to triage my needs as a consumer. Felipe was knowledgeable and he accommodated all of my special requests. Once I identified my car, I spent quite a bit of time negotiating the price. After coming to a compromise, Felipe went out of his way to ensure that I was not spending additional time waiting for the financing of my vehicle. He prepared all of the paperwork and suggested that I have lunch while all of the financing details were getting worked out. I returned from lunch and was able to close the deal with one pending inquiry- the vehicle's warranty. Since it was a Sunday, I was informed that we would have to wait until Monday to determine if the warranty was valid. The next day, Felipe called to advise that the warranty was not available as the vehicle was from Canada. I was not happy about this, but all of the details were thoroughly explained so that I could make an informed decision. The financing process was ok. I did have a 45 minute wait, but the store was busy when I returned from lunch. When working with the finance manager, I was informed that I couldn't use my credit union as I had to use one of the options that the dealership provided. I was also informed that I could refinance with my credit union after a month or two. I had the auto insurance etc. finalized so that I could pick up the vehicle with little to no wait time. Due to my busy schedule, I finally picked up the vehicle on Wednesday afternoon. My new Jeep Wrangler was detailed (with the exception of the fingerprints on the ceiling) with a quarter tank of gas. Felipe took customer service to another level when he (as a customer courtesy) filled up the tank. Felipe also found the car's summer mats when he realized that there were only winter mats in the car. This reaffirmed the fact that I made a great decision to do business with Automax. Since then, I have called for paperwork and for a few other small requests. Felipe has continued to be responsive and consistent (even though the deal has already been closed). All in all, I am a happy, satisfied customer that has referred several colleagues and friends. Felipe Amabile... THANK YOU! read more

At first everything seemed to go well. Once the paperwork was signed things went down hill. They told me that RI DMV takes a week or 2 to process registrations. That was a lie as I called the DMV and they told me that was not their procedure. I only got my truck a week after all of the paperwork and loan was signed and after I had a high ranking individual from RI DMV step in. When they delivered it to me, I noticed that most of the "We owe you" items weren't done. 1. Front brakes and rotors. 2. Missing grill in the front end. 3. Floor mats that I was promised. 3. New battery as the old one was obviously wearing down. 4. Additional key. 5. possible alignment or balancing as it pulled to the right. After not having the truck in my possession because of their awful process, I then needed to drop it off to get a FEW of the items resolved. Again, no truck in my possession for a few days. I got excuses as to why the items they "owed" me weren't done. "must have forgotten" Then a month later to the day that I purchased my truck, a new problem arose. I was stuck in a parking lot as my truck wouldn't start. I had to get it towed and was without it for another week. The issue this time was the entire fuse box needed to be replaced. After that was done they realized they they made a mistake and it was something else that was wrong. At this point I just wanted my truck back and in my possession. I tried to go to a Ford dealership to have it serviced but i couldn't until the dealer warranty expired. Next, my navigation and charging station inside the console didn't work... Went back again and was told they would order the part..... HAVEN'T HEARD BACK SINCE. NOW, 6 months later my truck is being serviced at a Ford dealership because it now needs a transfer case, drive shaft and right side control arm. Fortunately the only good thing that came out of this transaction was the extended warranty I purchased which is covering it all, THANK GOD!\ Needless to say I will NEVER go back to this dealership for a vehicle and I have told many people not to either.... As of 1/25/19, the truck broke down again and is being serviced. I purchased this vehicle from their Attleboro, MA location. read more

SALESMAN: Gus Netto - EXCELLENT AUTO MAX Framingham - EXCELLENT I needed to buy a car and researched on the computer for 5 weeks. On my first trip, Salesman Gus let me test drive one car, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. Then weeks later I found a 2018 Chevy Impala I wanted, listed in Framingham Auto Max. On my second trip, I called Gus to see if it was available, he said yes come down in a hour. I came in and was interested in the Impala and one other car and test drove the Impala. Gus listed my pros and cons for both cars and I decided on the Impala. I tried to negotiate on the price and he asked me if I found anything lower, I said no. Actually in my 5 week computer research I could not find any price EVEN CLOSE to Auto Max Framingham!! We negotiated on the price on my trade in and Gus actually told me I should ask manager approval for the trade in price that was higher than mine. I decided on buying the 2018 Impala. The Car Fox Report was GREAT, condition of car was Great, the price I paid was GREAT!! In my research, I found that ALL of the local dealerships prices were MUCH HIGHER for the same car, that I bought at Auto Max Framingham. Gus told me if I buy an additional remote he would program it for no charge, which he did. Gus also told me that if I have any question on how to operate any accessory call him anytime or come in and he will explain. I was very happy with the price and the fact the car was covered on GM Warranty for 3 years on total drive train and 1 year on all else on car. I am not the easiest person to get along with, but had NO PROBLEMS with Gus or the management. Gus was very patient with me, he went out of his way to show me cars and explain everything. He was nice, NOT PUSHY and very easy to get along with. I read some of the negative reviews on other experiences and was disappointed and find it hard to believe after my experience. Maybe the problems were the CUSTOMER and not AUTO MAX. I totally recommend to anyone looking for a used car to go to Auto Max Framingham and ASK for Gus. Salesman Gus Netto is a GREAT MAN, a GREAT and HONEST SALESMAN and I feel very fortunate to have had him deal with me, in buying the Chevrolet Impala!! read more

I never write reviews, even I have a particularly good or bad experience; I'm usually just too busy, to be honest. But I was so well-taken care of and respectfully treated by Charles Ross at Automax of Framingham, that I felt compelled to share my experience so that he can be recognized. I came in to look at a car, with no intention of buying it that day or even that week. (I had to go to work in about an hour and a half.) Charles and I talked about the car for a bit, he pulled and went over the carfax with me, went over what I would be looking at for the ballpark- trade in of my car, and then began to crunch some numbers. During this time, a dishonest salesman or dealership would usually try to pull some fast ones with the numbers, or talk simply in terms of 'monthly payments' to try to milk the most they can from you. There was none of that with my salesperson Charles; he very respectfully allowed me to do all of my own calculations so that we were on the same page, waiting patiently and asking me if he could get me anything (Water, coffee etc), and telling me to take my time. I never felt rushed or 'under the gun' with Charles, which, reflecting back on it now, made me so much more likely to make the purchase. After we agreed on the numbers and agreed on the deal, Charles extended his professional salesmanship far beyond the sale, offering without hesitation to wash my dirty license plates that were being switched over, calling me days later to smooth out the registration and to ask me how I liked the car and make sure everything was going to my liking, and even called a day afterward to let me know that a spare key had showed up (not part of the original deal, my car only came with one key), and to come pick it up any time at the office free of charge. At the end of the day, Charles got me out the door and on time for work in record time and in the car I had really wanted. All throughout the many phases of my purchase, Charles Ross was the epitome of professionalism and an ideal salesman. Charles was and is a great asset to Automax Preowned of Framingham, and I will be directing my friends and family directly to him for all our future auto purchases. Thanks again! read more

Pros - I am giving a 5 star review for Paula, my sales woman. She was great to work with and made it a pleasant experience for me but she also bared with me the following day or so as I was super pushy in ensuring that I got my car "delivered" ASAP. And I was so thankful for that, I really didn't want to wait to get into my new car. She also made sure to follow up on questions that I had that were lingering even after the purchased was confirmed. :) Setting up the test drive in the first place was quick and easy and didn't have to wait long for Paula to get us going. I was a little surprised they looked at my car at the same time (for the trade-in) - if i knew ahead of time I would've cleaned my car up. Whoopsy! Cons - Zero wiggle room for negotiation for the price point or the trade-in. Which was disappointing however the bottom line for me was getting my price per month as low as possible (under $300). I also was not a huge fan of the finance guy I worked with. He disregarded my comment that the mileage was higher than what was documents (by like 500 miles, not a huge deal but still). And then more annoying was that he was clearly disappointed maybe arguably annoyed that I did not want GAP insurance or the Extended Warranty. I had done my homework and knew I didn't want these offerings and I planned on getting GAP through my insurance which was SUPER inexpensive. He also either lied or is really really bad at math but I asked how much the monthly price would be excluding the Extended Warranty because if it was only $5-$10 more I might've considered it - thankfully he said like $15 more when in realty it was $50 more a month which is significantly higher. I did not appreciate that, but it could've been a mistake since it was close to closing time and mistakes happen . I also didn't love that they ran my credit report AND the financing company did so I got 2 hits on my credit report, would've liked to know that ahead of time. Overall - Paula was great and worked with me through the whole process and I was very grateful for that. :) read more

Let me premise this review by saying that a large majority of the reviews seem to be person specific. For instance, Sam helped me with the sales for my car. He was kind and honest. He knows a lot of tricks for selling cars and a few that I chuckled at myself like "accidentally" bringing out a car that was out of my price range and having me drive it to the other lot to look at my actual car. However, I will say that since my standards for car shopping that day weren't sky high I was pleased with the car I initially wanted to look at. It was well within my price range and the type of car I was looking for, just based on a little information I gave Sam. He helped me out tremendously and when it came time to finance, issues arose, mostly on my end, that they helped me work through. They were very flexible and wanted to get the car off the lot that day. Now, I have driven the car and have enjoyed it thus far. In a few months time I am hoping it doesn't end up being a lemon but judging by research, the price for the car wasn't UNREASONABLY low for what the car usually goes for. I don't know guys. Maybe I got lucky, maybe I'm easily impressed, but these guys helped me out and even offered to replace my bumper (for free) because it had been damaged. Just...be sure to check other reviews and actually read through them before seeing a low score and walking away. Also, call me crazy, but if you wanted top of the line crazy service and deals maybe go to a car-specific dealer next time? I don't know. Just a suggestion. read more

Worst dealership I've ever stepped foot in! The first time I go with $15k cash (in bank) to put down and was turned away saying they do not take any appointments passed 5:45 pm so I left giving my name and number to the gentleman who ran outside to send us away ... never heard from in so I called 3 days later and inquired about the vehicle I was interested in and was told we do not have that car on our lot I send over the picture I took and the vin I get a response a day later saying they do not know if they're selling that vehicle because of a title issue odd but ok They never asked if there was anything else I was interested in looking at they just sent me away Then I get an email three weeks later saying thank you for your interest we will be reaching out shortly I'm like at this point don't bother I've located another vehicle same make and model and I've ordered it through Carvana they said well we are so sorry about the bad experience and are still interested in buying your car since used cars are up right now we can offer you a much higher amount than kbb or your trade offer I said ok I'll come in ... what a joke they offered me less than my trade by $3000 and the nine hit tried to tell me he needed my social and license to appraise my car to make sure I didn't steal it ... excuse me?! I will give you my license but you don't not need my credit history to appraise a car dipshit ... never again will I step foot into this joke of a dealership read more

Buying a car can be such an anxiety producing experience. Walking into a dealership you may be armed with all the latest and greatest technology, up to date vehicle specs, and you think you know exactly what you want. Once inside, you may find yourself having a very different experience from what you may have expected. You sometimes can feel like the most ignorant person in the world even after doing all your research ahead of time. Which is why being matched with the perfect salesman is such a huge part of the buying experience. I am fortunate to say that I was one of the lucky ones this time. When visiting AutoMax in Framingham, I must've walked in at the just the right time as I was greeted by a genuinely friendly salesman. Michael Ouellette not only made me feel at ease with his laid back, "no pressure" approach, but I felt like he knew exactly what I was looking for after asking me just a few small questions. He was straight to the point, explaining company policies and procedures and left the decision making completely up to me. Not for one moment did I feel like I was part of a game. Because of his style and approach I will not hesitate to go back for another vehicle when ready nor will I hesitate to give his name to all my family and friends. I'd say if you didn't already know it, he's a definite asset to your business AutoMax! Thanks Michael! read more

I haven't the foggiest clue what the other comments are talking about. Those comments look pretty suspicious to me....I had a very positive experience. Was treated with respect throughout the buying process by a team who was not only motivated to make a deal but to make sure the deal was fair to both sides. I don't expect an auto dealer to be genuinely concerned more about my satisfaction than closing a deal (though indeed the Automax people made every effort in that regard) and I don't expect a dealer not to try to negotiate in his best interest; what I DO expect though is a fair discussion and that's just what I got from Automax in Framingham. I did my diligence, knew what I wanted and knew what was reasonable and fair to demand. Automax could understand I had no intention of being a jerk and reciprocated in manner, tone and quick-to-reach-bottom-line result. After weeks of investigation and discussion with many other candidates, I was in and out of Automax with the deal I wanted in no time. Sal, Kevin and Dan were a pleasure not just because they met the minimum requirements of courtesy; but most importantly: because we could truly understand each other. When was the last time you could say that about your purchase experience, whether for car or anything else? read more

I have to admit I was a little reluctanct after reading some reviews but the reason for my glowing review is simple:Automax put together an incredible deal on a CR-V in virtually no time. They beat out the competition and did it with style. At no time did Automax put pressure on me. They sold themselves and the SUV without having to trash other cars or the competition. To be frank, I was very impressed by both Eric and Dan who went above and beyond to keep in contact with me, answering their phones at all times, and working quickly and efficiently to get me a deal that floored every other dealership. I also want to make clear that this was an extraordinary deal and instead of telling me how lucky I was and what I was sacrificing to get it, Automax just told me they wanted my business. These salesmen were incredible professional and outperformed their peers. The same was true of Dan and the financing team who got me an extraordinary financing deal (literally half a percentage below my next best offer). Dan explained the products to me, but never once pressured me into accepting them. Automax makes purchasing cars much a pleasant experience. I would recommend Automax to a friend without a moment's hesitation and would visit them again. read more

After reading the reviews for this place, I was certainly apprehensive about visiting the lot. However, the no haggle pricing and large selection of the exact car I was looking for was too much for me to pass up. Once I arrived at the dealership, I wandered the lot to check out the selection of cars. Their tag line of "onlynicecars" certainly fit the bill. After about 15 minutes of looking at the different cars I was interested in, I walked into the dealership office and was immediately greeted by Sal. He sat us down and asked which cars we wanted to look at. Once we expressed interest in the selection of Rogues, he pulled up the dealership website and described the Automax preowned policy on no haggling and how the manufacturer's warranty worked. Throughout this narrative, Sal was very calm, friendly and repeatedly expressed that he is not here to pressure us. We indicated the two cars we'd like to look at, signed a waiver and off we went on a short test drive. After the drive, Sal addressed our questions and concerns, which included asking for a damaged tire to be replaced. We purchased the car with zero sales pressure from anybody and now are happy owners of a very nice 2009 Rogue with low mileage. read more

My Audi A6 had a major engine problem and I suddenly was without a car. I found myself in a terrible situation getting rides to and from work for two weeks! I went to at least three dealerships and was unable to get financed with or without a co-signer. I finally got one approval and the dealership told me I could get a 2014 Ford Focus for almost $400 per month! I was almost ready to give up when my boss told me to see Mike Hanley at Automax Preowned in Framingham. I gave him my credit information and he told me to start searching the inventory. I found a beautiful 2012 Honda Accord with 22,000 miles and a few other cars but I really wanted the Honda Accord. Later that same day Mike called me and told me I was approved. "You're all set! $298 per month with an excellent interest rate if you want the Honda" I was very surprised I was approved for the car I wanted and at an affordable price. Mike took care of me and I'm driving my new Honda and I love it! Anyone who wants a car should go to Automax Preowned and see Mike. They have a very large inventory and do whatever it takes to get the job done and get you behind the wheel of your new vehicle. read more

THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE!!! Do not give them your money! I looked on their website and the car I wanted was listed as "in stock in Framingham" as of when I left the house to drive an hour to Framingham and when I got to Framingham they looked up the car I was looking for and told me "oh sorry that car is at our Attleboro location." So not only was their website wrong, but when I got to Attleboro (another hour long drive!!) we walked in the door and they said "oh are you the ones who are looking for the [car I was looking for]?" And we said yes and they told me they sold it LAST NIGHT. WHY COULDN'T THE FRAMINGHAM LOCATION TELL ME THIS INSTEAD OF LETTING ME DRIVE ANOTHER HOUR TO FIND OUT THEY WERE ALL LYING TO ME? Do not give them your service, and if a woman named Carina emails you about the car you are looking for, she is misinformed and does not know anything about the inventory or what has been sold. She told us she had the keys set aside for us waiting for when we got there, which was a very blatant lie because the car had already been sold. Save yourself, do not go here! read more

The experience was very bad. The sales guy was nice enough. Fake as hell, but nice. This place has good cars at good prices, UNTIL you find out AT THE VERY END, that they charge a $600 (!) for their documentation fee. Most dealers charge $100. SO, before you get into the Finance Guy's office, be upfront and ask the Sales Guy to confirm the $600 documentation fee. I got sucker punched at the last second, closing on a car. I wasted all my time post test drive. They wouldn't budge on price. Fine. I get a cashier's check from my bank, and get there the next day. I'm in the Finance Guy's office, where they spring the news of the documentation fee. They wouldn't budge on lowering the price of the car $3-400. Sales guy told me that we had discussed this. He was so full of it, as this was a complete lie. Long story short. They get you on the outrageous $600 documentation fee, but never tell you till the very last minute. ASK FIRST AS SOON AS YOU CAN! By law they must disclose this if asked. I didn't, and wasted my time. I found a better deal, and never looked back. read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES!!! I recently bought a 2010 Nissan Murano SL from the Marlborough site for AutoMax (400 Mill Street, on Route 85 off of Route 9) when my much-loved 2002 Ford Explorer was starting to have engine problems. I received prompt responses via email and phone calls about my interest in the Nissan and met with Frank to see the car and talk about financing. I never was harassed by the business manager or other salesmen, we had a nice conversation about my trade-in value on the Ford and I left that day with time to think about the decision with my wife. Frank got back to me a day later and my mind was made up: we returned the following day and the transaction went smoothly. No hidden fees, the interest rate was what the said it would be, and again, I was at ease with no high-pressure staff bothering me. Frank was relaxed and helpful during this big decision and I am thrilled with my new car! I would highly recommend AutoMax to anyone looking for their next car! -Chris Green read more
