We recently moved to Yakima and were not sure we would be able to find a shop to take our Volvo. We had a great shop in Portland so were a bit nervous about finding something as good in Yakima. As it turns out, I believe we found something better. Based on the reviews of AutoMetrics, it seemed that it might be a good fit. A good fit is an understatement! I took our car in this morning for an oil change as well as asking them to check out a possible suspension issue in the front end. Terry and Valentine were both personable and knowledgeable, both taking the time to discuss the suspension issue. Everyone in the shop was friendly and very professional. The shop was one of the cleanest and well organized I've ever seen. Our previous shop in Portland was the exact opposite. Erik went for a test ride with me to assess the suspension issue and immediately had some ideas on what the problem might be. Voila! The oil got changed and the suspension issue turned out to be nothing. Prices were incredibly reasonable and I left with a feeling of confidence knowing our car had been expertly tended to. I recently bought a 2007 bmw went to Valvoline to get the oil changed the tech there told me I had a severe leak on the oil pan. I took it to AutoMetrics and paid $400 for their 60 point inspection. They found a long list of things to be fixed. 3 weeks and $5,000 dollars worth of labor later I got the car back and yes I still had a severe oil leak at the oil pan you would think that should be priority. The vehicle was done as scheduled and I was updated via text with timeframes. A realignment was also done and when I felt the vehicle pulling left the next day I brought it back. I wanted to write an update because the owner, Brian, reached out- which is awesome. I also heard from the manager Mark, who called after Brian contacted him. Mark offered to refund $150 for the diagnostic fee. While I think this is great, the bottom line is that the repair is still going to cost money. I don't expect things for free, but I am flustered that we will be charged again for labor on accessing the a/c, as well as the marked up charge for parts because their policy mandates you get the parts through them. Let me give an example using part of the quote I received for my car: Left cylinder valve gasket cover: $35 (through auto parts store: $16) Right cover gasket set: $119.81 (through auto parts store: $18) Adhesive: $8.62 for 0.3 units (through auto parts store: $6.49 for entire tube) 24 Valve Cover Screws: $13.53/unit= $324.96 (through auto parts store: $5 ea)) Labor: $231 Total: $723 I guess I just feel gouged on prices here, and I would handle it somewhat if I thought they would stand by their work if they missed something. won't stand by their shoddy work. My daughter was driving from Seattle area to Easter Washington, when my Jeep blew radiator and head gasket. Had it towed to Yakima to Autometrics, everything we read said they were the best. Cost was $2800 to replace and repair, and was under the NAPA warrenty, should certain things go wrong. My daughter brought it back to Seattle, and the next day the check engine light came on (after only 14o miles on the rebuild). Checked code and it showed misfire cylinder one. Checked compression and it was 80 pounds. Took to a NAPA shop, they said cyl 1 was either done wrong or never done at all, as it was oval and the valve would not seat right. How this ever got past any qualified mechanic, I will never know. They said that everything check out before it left their shop. ( I recently read online that they forgot to tighten lug nuts on a car they worked on, kinda makes you wonder?) This cost me another $1400. They tell me it is not their fault and wont cover the extra work. Even though the machine shop did not do their job right. Countless e mails and texts and little or no communication from them. Very frustrating....next letters are to BBB and Attorney General, and looking for lawyer. Been trying to deal with this for a couple months. read more

My 20 year old Porsche Boxster died not far from Yakima and towed to AutoMetrics after a recommendation from the tow truck driver. 300 miles from home on a Sunday and not willing to pay for a tow all the way home, I felt it was the best option. 9 am Monday morning the manager met me and I explained what the issues were. No diagnostic codes pop up. Not long after the technician arrived, a diagnosis was made and sensor ordered. 24 hours later, sensor arrived, installed, car taken for a test drive and I was on my way home. Can't say enough about the service I received as well as recommendations I received as to what I could do while I was here. I went in for a transfer case service. It took an hour and fifteen minutes. $84.00 after tax, which is half the price of most places I looked. The waiting room is a little awkward (cramped, dimly lit, and has zen music on repeat). I was able to pay before it was done. Often auto shops try to charge you for extra. Unsure if they were going to try, but this was good way to avoid that. The man the desk (Cody) seemed professional in his tone and promptness with all clientele. read more

Update: Brian the owner reached out to me and I eventually got the splash guard re-installed in my SRX. I took my car to another local shop who replaced the wheel bearing in the left wheel. It took care of the grinding noise from the left wheel. Steering was still on the heavy side. Later decided to trade in the SRX for a newer SUV. read more

Incredible experience. I'm an experienced home mechanic; my S60R never goes to the shop other than for alignments and tire balancing. My lower ball joints wore out to the point of near failure, and I needed to get them replaced as soon as possible considering how dangerous ball joint failures at speed can be. I didn't have the time, although I did already have the parts on hand. I called the shop at 4pm, described my situation, and Trent told me that if I had the car to him within a half hour or so, he would have the job done by the time they closed at 6. He quoted me a fixed $150 to replace both, which I thought was fair and was easily willing to pay. When I got my car back shortly after 6, the final bill came to less than $135! The office staff were very friendly, we ended up chatting about cars between customers while I waited. The shop is very clean and modern, not to mention huge; totally unlike any normal oil change or muffler shop. They are Bosch certified as well. I'm extremely picky about anyone who works on my car, and it's really rare for me to find a shop that I totally trust. They were straightforward, honest, and care about cars. I would not take my car any place else. I have a Mercedes Benz G250 and they are experts on it. They did an awesome inspection of my car with pictures that showed all the issues that I had. It was sent right to me digitally so I have access to it later. I didn't feel pressured to perform all the services at once, but they told me the order of priority so I can work out what I need with my finances. This has to be Yakima's premier auto repair shop that: #1. Has serviec quotes typically below a dealerships by as much as a few hundred dollars (Comparing Volvo shops in Seattle). #2. The Autometrics warranty on the work and parts is the real deal because I've had a couple times where the installed part failed prematurely and brought the car back. There wasn't a fight about it. Their inspection revealed the part failed and I owed absolutely nothing. #3. Open Saturdays! And with shuttle service, you don't have to take time off work from your Monday thru Friday job. #4. There is none of that Jiffy/Economy Lube upsell garbage. Recommendations are made with zero pressure to do now however use good judgement if it's regarding safety. #5. Their website allows you to schedule and communicate exclusively with the service writer. For me, this is convenient and a good way to have documentation and reference should you need it. Here's a real customer service story: Brian Beatty, who owns Autometrics came up and picked up my car in Seattle (where I reside) after it was unclear if a job recently done at his facility was the cause of a weird noise. I didn't yell, harass or threaten to involve a lawyer to get Brian up there, he simply offered and I took him up on that. Turned out it was really an independent issue and a ball joint went bust. The total cost was a couple hundred bucks but I wasn't billed for his time, more so the ball joint and half hour labor. That's, that's a man true to his word and behind his company. Experience: I've been a long time customer of Brian and when I lived in Yakima, had all my vehicles serviced there. Now that I live in Seattle, I still will only take my serious maintenance and repair (if I can drive it) to his shop. Customer service: The shop staff have always been helpful, even on recommendations over the phone on simple matters. If you're tight on time, they'll always try their best to have it ready faster than usual but never a lack job at all. If they know of a place that can do it to your budget, such as muffler repair, tires or body work, they'll help you find a good, honest place and price. Maintenance and Repairs: They only do the repairs you want done and never ever do the scare tactic of your car falling apart and never sell you on crap you don't need. Cost to value: You get what you pay for. Premium to premium plus service. Nothing less, something more. It won't be as cheap as a Wal-Mart Express Oil Change but at least you are assured it will be done right the first time. Overall: Living on both sides of Washington, this is the only independent auto repair facility that I am aware of where you can take a Volvo, Mazda or Honda and never, ever be told you need to go to the dealer because "we can't do that" or "they have the tools, we don't..." Autometrics was half the size it is now and I know this place is built and founded on customer service honesty. read more

I did tell you that I thought $100 compensation for sending a customer on the road with a wheel that is so loose it makes noise shows very poor understanding of the dangerous situation you put me in. I spent over $4000 getting my engine replaced, and if I had been a resident of the USA and had sued for the harm you put me in, you would have had to compensate me for thousands of dollars. I can't really think of anything to complain about. They diagnosed the problem with my car, notified me of their findings, priced the parts and service and were about as fast as they could possibly be. Kind of a rough part of town, but the whole facility is fenced in and topped with razor wire, so your vehicle is safe overnight. read more

So far, Autometrics is really the only good thing I've found about Yakima. I wish I had found them before I made the mistake of spending too much money at the dealership in town. I had an electrical issue that was causing my blinkers to short out - a problem the dealership couldn't remedy. Brian at Autometrics took the time to diagnose the issue by rigging up an unconventional device that lit up when the short occurred. This helped him determine how to address the problem - which was ultimately solved in less than a day. I was impressed by the level of customer service my aging Volkswagen received. His prices are fair and his staff, professional. When I leave Yakima, I'm going to be hard-pressed to find another repair shop that I trust as much as this one. read more

Crooked and shady owner. Brian Beatty was horrible at running his dj business and a scam artist in the mechanic business. Do not, i repeat do not go here for work. Not only did i find that what i wanted done, was not, it took 2 weeks to get my car back. I needed a transmission replacement and i was told that it was done. 1 1/2 years later there were issues again. I brought it to bunger automotive to find that the original tranny was still in the car. Over 5200 bucks for nothing in my Mercedes. I'd recommend les schwab over this place any day. These guys need to get out of town and let someone with integrity run a foreign auto shop. read more

So helped take my brothers car to this place and they said it would be checked within 24 hours. ranged for $60 to $220 just to look at it depends how long they take. Which is fine then the next day we call around the same time we took the car in and they still haven't looked at it. Didn't bother me till 4 hours later the charged $220 when they barely looked at it for an hour. amazes me how shops like this stay in business. don't waste your time take it somewhere else read more

Would give zero stars if I could. These guys are con artists. I brought my sports car in with a coolant leak. First they replaced the coolant tank and charged me $1400. Then they told me I had blown my engine and the car was not drivable. They wanted another $6,000 to replace the motor or they would take the car off my hands and pay me for the scrap metal. I guess they thought since I was a woman they could really take advantage of me. I took the car elsewhere and it turned out to need a new coolant cap. Stay away from this place! read more
