I just want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to the team at Automotive Enhancements for going above and beyond last weekend. My husband and I were visiting family in Frederick and left early Monday morning to head back to Philly when, out of nowhere, the brakes on my old Jeep Cherokee stopped working. It was a terrifying situation at 6:30 AM, but by some miracle, Automotive Enhancements was open--and just a mile away. Not only did they welcome us (and our two dogs!) into the lobby to warm up, but they also brought the car right in and quickly diagnosed the issue--a missing cap on the brake booster vacuum plug. They replaced it on the spot and, incredibly, refused to take any payment. Their kindness and generosity turned a stressful moment into a reminder of how great people can be. Heads up to my Maryland friends: stay away from Automotive Enhancements in Frederick. This happened in 2021. Posted this review then, and it was taken down. Re-posted the exact same text in 2023, again it disappeared. So here it is again. Personally, perpetually disappearing negative reviews is why I stopped trusting yelp. Dropped off my car for tire mounting and balancing, had a quote of $88. Pick up my car, and I'm presented with a bill for $222. "We checked your alignment and it was off so we adjusted it." I didn't ask you to check the alignment. I didn't authorize an alignment. "Ok. I'll take that off the bill." This very clearly wasn't the first time they'd thrown in extra work and then been called on it. Edit to add: I hadn't looked at the invoice closely until I got home (she charged me the quoted installation price, then stapled the credit card receipt to the invoice that still shows the alignment). On the invoice: they say they got my approval for the $222 estimate by phone at 1:19 PM. They did call me at 1:19 PM. The entirety of the conversation was "your car is done" "how late are you open" "I'll be here until 3:00 but I can hide your keys somewhere" and "I'll be there before three." Further edit: the alignment report time stamp shows they did the alignment 2.5 hours before they called me. read more

New to the Frederick area and needed some quick things done to my vehicle. Called a few places and everyone was nice and even recommended different shops. I was referred to AE and spoke with Paul the owner when i called. He was extremely nice and helpful. He even gave a few recommendations of things to do in the area. They took care of what i needed. We are on a road trip from Houston, Texas, to Maine when our car had electrical issues and needed repairs. We happened to find Paul at Automotive Enhancements, and he did his best to try to fix it. He was so honest and helpful! The issue was not something he could fix. The car needs a new computer. But he was the most honest mechanic I've ever met!! He truly wanted to help us get in our way. We never feel ripped off or pressured into services we don't need. Automotive Enhancements is a great bunch of people that really know what they're doing. Just standing in the office for a few minutes, you can see that they also treat everyone like friends and family. I had a regular mechanic that I used, but a friend recommended this place. Unfortunately for my old mechanic, I've never returned to him. The prices are reasonable and the staff is great! I seem to always need a ride to work after dropping off my car and there is always someone there ready to help me out I would definitely recommend! read more

AE saved my car! I had a transmission swap performed by a "reputable" shop. The end result was the first shop botched the job so badly the car was inoperable, parts were missing and the price was double during the time.
