We dropped off our truck for check engine light service. We weren't contacted about the repairs nor the vehicle for over a week. Mh fiancé had to essentially hunt down the owner as every time we called, the front desk said they haven't seen the owner "in weeks". Finally after waiting 10 days we received a call from the owner that he took our truck to another shop so they could run the electrical problem. This was then quoted to be an 800$ procedure which we totally declined. Now this is where it gets weird. The owner states he will pick up our truck from the shop and service our car on warrantee. Ok great! We get a call to pick up the truck assuming it has been serviced....but when we get to the shop our truck is GONE. Stolen! The owner then says he parked it himself away from his property and has owes us no liability for the theft. He also and I quote, stated, "this happens all the time" and to "go ahead and take me to civil claims because you won't win". Would not give a name to his insurance. He did however offer to buy our truck off of us from the tow yard the police sent it to when it was found by using his "car dealership plates". Wait, so you want us to trust you by selling the car to you when we couldn't even trust you to keep it on the lot? We kindly declined the offer and insisted he just reimburse the money that was spent when he did NOT fix the car. He laughed in our faces, told us he would give us 250 for the impound charge and that was it. Again we said we would accept the 250 with the understanding that we are going to take the legal route and get lawyers involved. After that conversation the owner, Matt, then said to "go fuck ourselves" and hung up the phone I'd like to add that while waiting for the police to come to the shop the owner tried to kick me out of his shop. He admitted that this happens often and was aware that our truck was at risk for being stolen with where he parked it at. I had made a post on social media where I received many responses that this particular shop was known for theft and unfulfilled services. Also, he referred me to a sign posted on his wall which holds no merit. My personal items were not stolen. My vehicle he was responsible for, for over two weeks was stolen. I have reported this guy to BBB and I sure hope this review reaches all the right people. As a young mom to twin boys who are 4 with another baby boy on the way, it is my hope another young couple will not be taken advantage of like this.

Good business. I have brought my car here twice for brakes and for the timing belt. All I have to say is so far so good.

When the car was picked up, the odometer showed the car was driven 3 miles after the car was dropped off. My husband called Walter to ask if there is a reason why the car was driven. Walter said sometimes it is for the transmission fluid replacement. My husband, without disclosing the miles the car was driven, asked Walter how far they would typically drive a vehicle. Walter said no more than a mile. At that moment, my husband disclosed that the car was driven 3 miles (we live less than 2 miles away from his shop). Walter then changed his reasoning, to "well we want to make sure you didn't leave us with a messed up vehicle and then tell us we messed it up." His reasoning was completely illogical. We only went to have the transmission oil replaced. Was he trying to suggest that my husband looked like a shady person? Our car insurance doesn't cover him or his employees to be driving the car. Anything could have happened during the 3 miles the car was driven. For all we know, either Walter or one of his employees took it out to run an errand. Maybe instead of coming up with poor excuses, Walter should have apologized and told my husband he will look into why the car was driven. Do not trust Walter or his employees.

Okay so I bought a (new to me) 2014 Silverado back in 2019. As I was going through the research process I joined multiple Facebook groups regarding the Silverados. The one thing that became obvious was that the 6l80 transmissions aren't all that great. In reading one of those posts someone had posted that they had gotten their transmission rebuilt by Walter, they gave him and the shop high praises. I screenshot the name just to keep it handy in case I ever needed it. Well unfortunately that day came in 2014. My transmission produced some codes and my trans fluid was cooked, I decided to contact Walter. Right away he walked me through the process. He explained the codes that popped up and what things could have led to them. Overall, his approach to our conversation really convinced me to take my truck down to him all the way from Orange County. He told me exactly what he was going to do the truck. Since I have the 4.3 Silverado he installed a different torque converter in it but he went ahead and called me before he did it for transparency. It took about a week to get the truck back and let me tell you; it's running amazing!!! Hopefully I won't need another rebuild anytime soon but I will be taking the truck to him for scheduled maintenance. Again, since I kinda had done my research in the 2014 Silverado 1500, I had all kinds of questions regarding towing, trans fluid operating temps, and everything thing in between and Walter was amazing at answering my questions and guiding me through the process. So glad to have my freaken truck back and running better than when I had purchased it.

Prior to using them, I received several quotes from my repair through Yelp, as well as the Nissan dealership. The quote from 1st Choice was by far the best, and half the amount quoted by the dealership. I selected 1st Choice and scheduled the repair date. The work was completed to my satisfaction. I want to mention that the mechanics are very knowledgeable and extremely professional. I would highly recommend 1st Choice for your automotive needs.

Last year, he decided to branch off and focus primarily on mods, custom builds, and speciality work on Subarus whiling changing the name of the business to RFC Industries. In doing this, he sold the service side (oil changes, tire rotations, basic repairs, etc.) of his business to 1st Choice Autoworks. So I've been coming to them for the non-off roading specific stuff that Chris still does for me. Luke and everyone else here is incredibly kind, knowledgable, and professional. This past weekend, I panicked since I'm leaving for an extended work trip (1.5 months) which involves my heavily modded Subaru Forester and I had an axle issue days before I was supposed to leave. I texted Chris over the weekend and he said come to 1st Choice by 8:00am on Monday. I didn't have an appointment, and just showed up. And this isn't my style. I'm usually so highly organized and do my best to be respectful, schedule appointments, and go through the proper channels. But I woke up at 6:00am and was in Murrieta by 8:00am. I explained my situation and they were so accommodating and understanding and kind. It took all day but they helped me out and got my car back in good health and I'm so thankful they were cool with me just showing up. This shop is trustworthy, professional, and now is really familiar with off-roading and modded, lifted Subarus due to SubiWorks' and Chris' involvement. Please give these guys your business if you're in the area. They also work on non-Subarus. Thank you, 1st Choice dudes. I appreciate you!

I was staying in a hotel in Temecula until I could get the car looked at all I wanted was a diagnostic and would decide what to do once I knew what the situation was. I called a mechanic shop that specializes in transmissions (Not AAMCO) on Jefferson before they opened and they did not call back for several hours. Then they told me to bring the car in and then they called to tell me they could not see it after all, citing the fact that they were awaiting a transmission that just came in and that their customer had been waiting for a while and had a rental and that they could not see me until later that day and then they basically told me they couldn't see me at all when I called back because they never called as promised. I called several other mechanics as well. By this time I had been in a hotel for several days and no mechanic could or would diagnose my car. I reached out to AAMCO and spoke with Steve and I'll admit, I was hesitant at first because they had a lower rating than some other businesses, but Steve was very polite and professional on the phone and could see my car that day and they offered to check out the car for free as part of their services. I said yes and got the car over to them. In the interim, I had several other mechanics call back and tell me that they could not see my car (I had been awaiting their callbacks). Eventually Steve called me back with the most unexpected news: "We checked out your car, we looked for codes, we drove it, we took a sample of the transmission fluid and other than being a little dark. There is nothing wrong with your car." I could NOT believe it. This was the FIRST time EVER, that I drove a car into a mechanic with an issue and they didn't mysteriously find something wrong with it that was going to cost me a lot of money. Steve was really professional and I highly recommend this shop due to their integrity to anyone. It was an amazing experience. This occurred on the 28th and now it's the 4th and I've put a lot of miles road tripping in the car and still no issue, so the diagnostic was accurate and they were completely honest. Cannot recommend enough based on my experience. So grateful to have run into Steve's AAMCO.
