Initially went in for my daughter's very dimmed headlights--On short notice, Dennis was able to quickly help replace the headlight bulbs, knowing my concerns about my daughter having to drive long distances back and forth to college; he'd also informed me that the lights that were recently put in (not even a year earlier from another shop at a much higher price) what not was installed in her car either! I appreciated his honesty, and as a result just brought my car into their shop today to be fixed-- Dave was awesome and again fixed my car's issues very quickly for a very fair price! Automotive Specialties has been my go-to place for years and they have been great. However, my power steering went out on my way to work and I went to the closest place. After 3 days the other place said it was a sensor and charged me $343. 10 days later the same problem occurred and they said I needed a new power steering column for $2700!! I called Dave at Automotive Specialties and asked his advice. He mentioned he had recently had a car with the same problem and it was covered under a service bulletin on Hyundai and I should take it there. Dave was right, for a small service fee it was fixed and I saved $2700.00! This is just one of many times I have had my car repaired for less, but this time saving this much money, I really owe a big thanks to Dave. A heaven sent. Dave was great. Reasonably priced, super friendly, fast, and did a great job. My car over heated and nearly died on the way to a work meeting. I was a little reluctant about dropping my car off to any random place and so far from home (I live in near downtown) but I am glad I brought it here. It's usually a good sign when there are tons of cars out front - where there was. He didn't try to sell me on things that I didn't really need to fix since he realized I was just driving my car until I killed it. No reason to buy a nice new car when you park on the streets of Chicago and someone hits it daily when they don't know how to parallel park (errgghh). He was even able to fix my car a day early so that I would not need to pay an extra day for a rental car, again a bonus. AND there is an Enterprise rental car RIGHT across the street, another bonus. read more
