This is the best independently owned shop you're ever going to find. Their parts are sold at actual store price (if not cheaper because they bought in bulk) and their labor charges are very reasonable. They can be grumpy if you try to screw them over or if you're ignorantly micro managing them, but otherwise, they present you with options and are very receptive to your decision. No hustling or tacking on unnecessary stuff. In fact, just like Thomas said, both Frank and John have sat down with me at times and told me what can wait, how to extend the life of something, how to prevent something from happening, etc. They're also very good at giving updates and making sure you know what they're doing to your car at a given point in time. What else I found to be very helpful, is their bluntness. John once told me exactly how I broke the lug nut and stud off my tire/drive shaft (I tried rotating my tires at home by myself and was leaning to the side when first loosening the bolt). I didn't tell him either. He knew upon first glance. I felt silly admitting it, but he proceeded to show me how to properly change a tire. My girlfriend has a convertible and the windows started moving slower. John told her cars without solid support on top typically wear out windows fast because wind or people leaning on the glass will degrade the track in the door. Knowing the year of her car and typical life spans, John gave us a time frame so we knew when to expect to replace the windows (or sell the car). Anyway, they do it all. You need it quick, they'll fix it quick. You need to learn, they'll tell ya what you need to stop doing. You need to work on budget, they'll help you plan. If you need something big, they don't back down -- and they're located within walking distance of the train station in case nobody can pick you up. read more

I needed two front lights replaced and couldn't do it myself due to other parts being in the way. Frankie said the front bumper has to be removed on my car so the cost would be $196, which is in the range I expected. Much to my surprise when I picked up the vehicle the cost was only $152 as the mechanic said he was able to complete the work faster than quoted. That's very honest service and they could have easily charged me the full price. Will definitely take my vehicle there again for service. They got a lot of experience working for some of the big auto dealer service shops before going out on their own. They've always been helpful and educated me on aftermarket vs. dealer parts, and worked with me on scheduling service- an honest appraisal of "do it now" vs. "it can wait". I drive my vehicles into the ground and they've done everything from routine maintenance to fixing broken window cables, to engine work. Frank, frankly tells you if there is a true problem or not or what the real problem is, without tricking the customers. I was fairly satisfied with a repair job they did until a week later my car would not start. Fortunately I had access to tools and could fix the problem they caused and get home. They must have lost or broke the battery connection bolt and replaced it with the wrong thread bolt and two big washers. This could not be tightened and came loose, so it lost contact. Took my car in today because it had no coolant in it, and I thought it had a leak. They pressure tested the radiator, ran the car and told me that there was nothing wrong with it, it just needed more coolant. When I picked it up, they didn't charge me anything. This is the best mechanic I have ever had. They are consistently honest and affordable and they go above and beyond with making things convenient. They seem to really care about you as a customer. I could talk to Frank the owner all day, he is just a great guy and very generous. It is super convenient for anyone who takes the train to just leave the car there all day.
