My car was towed, and I was never notified of where it was taken. I contacted multiple tow companies, law enforcement agencies and no one could locate it. I only found it by chance nearly two weeks later, and was immediately hit with over $1,100 in storage fees. These charges are unfair, predatory, and exploitative, especially considering I had no reasonable way to retrieve my vehicle sooner. To make matters worse, the customer service was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful throughout the entire process. The guy in there was the was the rudest person I've ever met. After having being charged $815 because my car got towed for only 11 days and I had no idea where it was until I had gotten my vehicle documents from the MVA for the police station before the police told me. I was surprised at the amount because I had no idea it takes that much which is 10x what public storages charge you where they even have proper security. I tried calling my family members to support with funds because I only had $250 with me because that's what I initially thought it would be around, hence I stayed outside as I couldn't come in for 3 hours in the cold and got frostbites due to this. Then even when I tried talking to the workers in there if I could get help with a discount, he was so utterly rude and disrespectful, I haven't seen someone with so little demeanor, he was yelling at me because I literally asked him a question after he said he was going to call his boss later because he was in the doctors office and he will let me know later in the day, meanwhile saying that the office closes at 12pm, which had me wanting to ask how he will still attend to me if the office closes at 12pm after the boss gives me a discount. And this dude blows up on my face, walks out and shut the door at me, and when i tried talking to another of the workers he comes out and starts being all rude, angry and defensive, saying his three year old son is smarter than me. At one point, after I had paid, he took my signing sheet and said I had to apologize before he gives it back to me (which I of course didn't and he ended up giving it back to me). First off, it's frustrating to deal with workers like this, but it's even worse when I know i'm being shanked belligerently and predatorily of my money in the most dishonest way possible and it seems the workers in there have lost touch with regular people and reality of how corrupt they are and how they profit off a corrupt bureaucratic system. I've never been treated so poorly in my life. I dealt with two people who had zero customer service. First person was named "CJ". This man was rude, belligerent, aggressive, nasty, and a terrible human being. I've been in the customer service industry for 20 year and I've never witnessed worse behavior. He kept trying to imply I was lieing, made fun of my family, and treated me with the utmost disrespect. The owners name was "John". He would not give me a chance to speak with him. He kept telling me that he "had nothing to say to me". He would not allow me to note my comments on the invoice. My only simple request was that I wanted them to witness that my rear passanger tire was flat. That's why I had to park it and why I couldn't move my car. They towed my car at the request of the police with a flat tire. For the life of me I can't figure out why my car was towed 18.5 miles away from Rockville, MD to Laurel, MD. My doors were unlocked and my center console was wide open. I left my car locked and my center console down. When I checked it somehow had 18lbs of air in and I noticed they had an small battery powered air compressor plugged in that they most likely used to put air in my tire. Extremely mean and rude staff. Poor communication and lack of assistance. My car was in an accident. Deemed no fault by insurance. Called to see when we needed to get the car moved since we were trying to get the other drivers insurance to pay up front. Monday was a holiday. We were told we had 5 days to get the car moved. On Thursday, I called and was told that we needed to get the car out of their lit by 1 pm on Friday... no wiggle room. And that I had to pay and get a receipt. (Insurance couldn't pay) It would be towed to the police lot. Worked with my insurance to get a tow service to a body shop. They set up the tow and I was told that the Tow service that my insurance picked was not allowed their property unless I was there. They were over 2 hours out. Called insurance again to arrange a different tow company that were 'allowed' to come on the property. (I think it's fishy that they named the company that we had to use). It is now 11:30 am and we need to get it moved by 1 pm. Thanks to my insurance and the new tow company (that was reliable and got my car safely to the auto body shop). Oh. And my insurance was allowed to pay after all. I can't believe that Montgomery County Police use this place. I hope they ban them. My husband is a semi owner operator. When the truck isn't moving, there is no money coming into the house to pay bills or feed our family. He had a load that shifted while slowing down on the highway. Luckly, the headache rack on the back of the truck saved it from extensive damage. The load did not fall on the roadway. All that needed done is for the load to be shifted back correctly and my husband could be back on his way. That did not happen. He told the man that was moving the load not to put it so far back on the trailer or else the trailer would tip once it was unhooked from his truck. My husband was later told that his load was unsafe and could not be hauled. Well of course it was, he told the man not to put it so far back. That was just another way to collect more money and an excuse to tow it. It was quite late at night by the time the tow company was finished. My husbands is hired by a company that hires and deals only with owner operators. They were prepared to pay for the bill. Rather than produce a bill that could be paid that night they removed the drive shaft from the truck, took the truck, the load and trailer. They said he could have it back after the bill was paid and they could contact the office in the morning. My husband was told to quickly grab some of his belongings from the truck and they would take him to a hotel. They gave him no choice in hotels. They took him to a hotel that cost well over $200 a night. They said it was on the way. While my husband was gathering some of his things a guy watched him telling him to hurry up. At no time would this tow company allow my husband to look at this truck to see the damage done. I had read many of the reviews after my husband called to let me know who towed everything. I knew from all the terrible reviews we were in for a long fight. My husband ended up having to stay a week in a hotel. I had to find him a less expensive hotel. After looking at the tow bill, $42,000, the insurance company found the bill to be excessive and had to have an investigation done. I was told by the insurance company that often times tow company purchase equipment they can't really afford. They then bring that equipment out even if it's not needed so they can bill the person/insurance company. It was interesting because my husband said there was a newer piece of equipment that was out there that wasn't needed. The insurance company will try to negotiate to bring the cost down but often times they don't, and the insurance company just pays because states like Maryland and Virginia have laws that protect the tow company. My husband was told by his company not to leave in case it got all sorted out and he could just go get his truck and get out of there. After realizing it was going to take a lot more time, my husband did leave, having to leave his truck, trailer and load behind. In the end my husband's company did finally just pay the ransom, as we call it and got the truck out of there and let the insurance company do what they were going to do. At last count this tow company charged just over $46,000 for this ordeal which could have been so much less of an ordeal. As I have read so many of the reviews which were very helpful knowing what we were about to deal with, I realized the issue is this company has been able to rob people and treat them so terribly for as long as they have because they are able. People in accidents or mishaps aren't able to choose what tow company is called. The state patrol and/or police departments call, they choose. These are the people that need to be contacted, which I plan to do. These are the agencies that need to be informed and held accountable. If the state patrol and police departments stop using this company, then they will either be forced to change their ways or go out of business or their business at the very least will suffer. My car was towed there, I spoke to someone and they advised me of what I needed. I went to pick up the car, the man said did you drive here, yes he said you cannot drive 2 cars. I was involved in a car accident (other driver was received 2 citations by Police) in MONTGOMERY County, MD. My vehicle (a total loss) was towed to this facility in Laurel, MD. The person was rude on the phone when I called to place him on notice that I would be coming to get my items out of my car. During the phone conversation, he insisted on a time that I would be coming to the shop. I explained that my car was at his place of business and that I could not give a time, since I was trying to find a ride. I did, tell him that I could/would call when I was in the area. I also told him that I could not understand why they (whoever is gives the order for towing) would have my car towed to Laurel (Prince George's County) when there are so many towing companies in Montgomery County. He took offense at what I said, and informed me that he was placing me on notice that I needed to give him a time. Our conversation went around in circles, him wanting a time that I would be at his shop since he needed to have someone there when I arrived. Unless I give him a time, he could not have anyone there. Me, stating that the best I could/would be able to do is call when I am in the area. He was not nice at all over the phone, no professional courtesy at all. I told him he was being a jerk and an a-hole. I could not give him a time, only call when I am on the way. He told me that unless I give him a time, he would not be sending someone to the shop and for me to have a good day and hung up on me. When I arrived at his shop; I called and identified myself and let him know I was there. I was prepared to wait based upon our earlier conversation. He answered my call and said, why don't you come inside then. I replied, oh, your here. The way you spoke to me on the phone indicated that no one would be at the shop and that is why you needed a definitive time. I went into the shop. He remained sitting and only gave me his side profile. I had my drivers license out. He said, vehicle registration. I said, I don't know where it's at. I recalled the police coming to the ambulance to give it back, but don't know where it's at. So I go back outside, call my insurance company. I ended up calling my apartment complex to see if they had my car registration on file. They did. So I am glad and go back into the shop. The guy informs me that he will only accept an original vehicle registration. I mentioned my insurance company and he said, they can look at the car but will not be able to get anything out of the car. My car accident was on Saturday, this was the Monday after my accident. I was in pain and had to deal with guy. I told him that he was being an a-hole. I asked if I could record our conversation, he said no. From the moment I walked into his shop, stood at the counter, while he sat in the chair and gave me his side profile...he only turned to face me when he joyfully said "vehicle registration" and "original registration only". He remained sitting the entire time that I was in his shop. I went back to the SUV, informed my niece (who drove me) with tears in my eyes that I could not get my things. I called the insurance company to please tow the car from his shop so that I could get all of my items out of the car. I do not recommend this service, I don't know if his reason for being rude is because: (1) I questioned why my vehicle would be towed to Laurel in another county when I live in Silver Spring and there are multiple towing services in Montgomery County; (2) That I called him a jerk/a-hole because of his rudeness;(3) I am a female and Black. I do not know what his issue was with me. Maybe he was having a bad morning. All I know is when I looked at the damage to my vehicle, I am just grateful and thankful to be alive. This company deserves NO stars. My husband was in a car accident yesterday, and his totaled car was towed to Automotive Support Services. Upon leaving the hospital, we went to retrieve his car; however, they wouldn't allow us to do so. They gave us every excuse in the book as to why we couldn't get the car the same day. It was evident that they wanted to get more money. After they called the police on us for trying to at the very least retrieve our belongings out of the car (my daughters winter coat, some of her clothes, books, shoes and personal items), they refused to take the money for the service they provided because they wanted to bulk up more money by having our car sit in their lot for another couple of days. They were in the wrong for so many reasons, one being that they gave us the key to our car but didn't want us to take our belongings. They gave us the run around and were very nasty and rude. The owner, who was the most rude of all of the employees, never greeted me as I walked in their trailer, nor did any of the other men working there. The environment was very hostile and after have traumatic, almost life ending car accident, the owner himself said "I don't car if you almost died... you canNOT get your car." The worst customer service we've received in our lives. My mother, an elderly woman, tried to do business with them because they refused to deal with us; and, they refused her service. They are on the list of MD Co Police dept towing services, so when I was in an accident my vehicle was towed there. The next day I called to see what the procedure was to release the vehicle to my insurance Co for towing to the Collision repair center and was told that verbal confirmation was fine. Long story short.... it wasn't fine and I was told the morning of the following day that unless I sign a realease and my insurance affiliate picks up the vehicle within 3hrs that it would be sent to the police impund lot. Automotive Support Services has acquired a position on the police list of towing outfits, and is uninterested in customer service. When my car was damaged, the Montgomery County Police called Automotive Support even though they are located in a different county. It took 45 minutes for them to come to the scene. The driver was rude to my wife. He told us that in addition to the tow charge there was a $ 4.00 per mile charge if we wanted the car taken to our choice of body shop. He then proceeded to take a roundabout route to that shop,. When I complained to his manager "John" about the detour, the manager announced that I would have to pay the GPS mileage distance, which he claimed was longer than the route taken.
