These folks treated me right and I feel confident that they gave me a true appraisal of what was wrong with my car and did the repair right the first time--and offered surprisingly competitive rates (one repair my car needed cost about $30 less than a similar repair I had had done about 20 years ago on a much more expensive vehicle!). I'm simply amazed at how great they were. I especially appreciated that they work with appointments, because that really makes it easier for me to plan ahead as a one-car family. I had excellent service here! I was able to drop my car off before work and just pick it up once the work was completed. It was very easy to get ahold of them during the day for a check-in. Originally, the work was to be completed in the morning but due to Memorial Day weekend they were slammed!! My car got pushed back (front brake replacement) till the end of the day. Luckily I didn't need it for any appointments that day/made due. They understood that inconvenience and were able to give me an additional discount for the flexibility. I had to get a catted downpipe installed since i bought my 2009 WRX with a catless downpipe installed and I needed it done urgently. I called and called and called but just couldn't find somewhere that didn't have a 4-5 day wait but I called up ATS and they were able to help me the next day. They had run into a problem with my exhaust where someone had cross threaded a bolt and they didn't want to break it so they had to keep my car overnight, which was understandable. Thankfully they got right to it first thing in the morning and I picked up my car at 8 a.m. Unfortunately there was an exhaust leak where the downpipe and midpipe meet but it wasn't a huge deal and I would like to believe it wasn't completely their fault. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely nice to talk to, we talked about cars and our experiences for maybe 20 minutes until my ride arrived, truly a pleasure. Overall i would give them 4 stars. If i could give them 4.75 i would, just getting down to the nitty gritty. Would definitely recommend visiting! read more

I feel like I have These guys on speed dial with my daughters jeep. They have been amazing. Daughter goes to Boise state and we sent her with a crappy wrangler that although fun is always needing work. Have been there about 5 times with anything from tires to engine work. I just moved to Boise from Tacoma, WA. I have a 20 year old Toyota that needed brakes. Since I was looking at buying a new vehicle, these guys gave me a quote on the brakes, but pointed out several other issues with the vehicle that would have cost a lot to fix. They treated me openly and honestly and said, "We could do the brakes for you and take your money, but you're better off not spending any more money on this vehicle and buying another one. So my college son's car broke down and since I'm in Orange County, CA and the car was in Boise, I had to select a mechanic based solely on their Yelp review alone. ATS had the best rating so why not? I spoke with Mike on the phone and he was courteous and willing to receive the patient that morning. After only a couple of hours Mike called me back with the bad news; complete engine seizure. He thoroughly explained what he looked for, what he found and let me down easy with his diagnosis. The car simply wasn't worth the time and cost to fix so I decided I would have to put her down. Mike was kind enough to call salvage yards in the area for me to see what I could get for it and was willing to house my heap of junk on his lot until the car coroner could take it away. However, I simply had to get a second opinion. It's not that I didn't trust Mike, he seemed very knowledgeable from our discussions, it's just that my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe only had 127k miles on it. And although the check engine light was pretty much a staple on that car for the ten years we owned it, I just had to give the car the benefit of the doubt. I paid Mike and had the car towed to another local mechanic who gave me the same exact diagnosis Mike did. I have no complaints with ATS and if I lived in Boise, I can honestly say I would have no qualms about taking my car to Mike for repair. Though for the record, that car would in no way be a Hyundai. This review is for work that was done in July of 2015. I brought my car in to get the front brakes replaced and was charged for the ceramic pads. Fast forward 2.5 years and today I take it into the mechanic to get them replaced because they've been squeaking and vibrating for the past few months. Mind you I haven't put a lot of miles on this car (there's still 75% of the pad remaining). Turns out these guys at ATS never installed the proper hardware kit which holds the brake pads together and is the reason for the squeaking and vibrating. To make matters worse they didn't even use the ceramic pads I paid for and instead installed the cheapest ones. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. These guys' lack of attention to detail and tendency to cut corners is extremely concerning. They'll smile to your face while lying through their teeth and reaching in your pocket. My check engine light came on in my f-150 and it was shaking quite a bit when driving it. I took it into the Ford of Lithia dealership for repairs and they told me they needed to replace all the coils in the truck, the spark plugs and more and said that it would cost $3700 and they said it still might fully solve the issue and it would have taken over a week to fix. I took it to the good guys at Automotive Technical Services off of Sherwood and they had found the problem within an hour and replaced one coil and only charged me $288 to do it and my truck was only in the shop for a day. My truck runs perfectly and I have since put over 600 miles on it. I will be going back here again and will recommend it to everyone. read more

We've been away from Boise for a few years and am glad to be back. However, my '07 Caliber developed a shimmy when in gear and at a stop. So I did a search on Yelp looking for a high rated mechanic and decided on ATS. They also had a high rating on Google+. It was a great choice. The ATS crew were able to get my car to quit dancing at stop signs and had it done in one day. Motor mounts needed replacing. I appreciated the quick turn around. Thanks guys. We took one of our service vans in after it failed an emissions test. They got us scheduled within 2 days, took care of it, and the cost was lower than the other mechanics we called! After learning from a "chain tire store" that I needed over $1400 in repairs on my truck, a friend suggested I call ATS when I started getting other quotes. I'm glad I did. Not only did Mike (the owner) quote the most reasonable price over the phone (I called three different auto shops in the Valley), Mike called me an hour after I dropped my rig off and told me the truck didn't even need the repairs and parts the "chain tire store" was trying to sell me. He could have easily done the job, charged me, and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Mike is a straight up honest guy, and I highly recommend ATS for all repair and service needs. I found this shop while on a road trip passing through Idaho (our check engine light came on about 3 hours away from boise) . I called the shop up about 30mins before closing and Mike gave me the most reasonable quote out of the 4 shops I called. Hands down the worst service I've ever had. This place was horrible. Never returned any of my calls, had to call them 20 times a days just to find out what was wrong with my truck. And at the end of the day, my truck left worse off then when I left it there. My truck drove in perfectly fine, and I had to tow it home, because I wasn't going to let them drag their feet anymore with not fixing my truck. Accused me of stealing tools that his mechanic supposedly left in the engine compartment, unsecured out in the open, really? Horrible customer service, finally took it to another shop, which was awesome by the way. After troubleshooting if for about a day, they told me everything was fine on it in regards to the fuel system, when mike told me his mechanic said it had to be the cp3 fuel injector pump, that made it stop running. Hmmmm?? Come to find out, it was a kill switch that his mechanic had to of turned on before he took it on a road test, because he said in his words, "we took it on a rod test and it just died" if that was true, then while he was driving it he had to of flipped the switch, which any good mechanic would think hmmm, I flipped this switch and it died, so maybe I need to flip it back. But nope, he just tried to scam me out of almost $4000. Very shady business, horrible workmanship, terrible customer service. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

I took my car in for them to replace the clutch. Mike quoted me a cheaper price than I found at other places so I figured I'd try these guys out. Come to find out he made a mistake on the quote and the price was a little more than other shops. Not a big deal and I already had my car in. After the new clutch I had to bring it in multiple times afterward for them to continue to try and fix a noise that was there before I brought it in. This was after the clutch fix. Six or seven times I brought my car in and still the same noise. I talked to Mike about it and that I was upset about having to continue to bring my car in and nothing. He did want to give it another shot but by this time I was already in over 1k with him and he wanted to charge me another $500. So I took my lumps and left. The original shop did not adjust them correctly. Took the (Subaru WRX) to ATS and they adjusted and checked the coil overs. I was in and out in less than 30 min.
