Long story short: What an amazing group of knowledgeable mechanics! Long story long: We were making our way from Oregon to Wisconsin (moving for work). When we got to Caldwell we started experiencing some issues with our car. We thought something had gotten stuck underneath it or something. By the time we reached southeast Boise, the sound was getting louder and it sounded like popcorn popping inside and outside the car, we knew whatever was wrong could not wait till we make it to Wisconsin. I start calling around for a mechanic and like magic when I spoke to Tim from Western auto service I knew we would be in good hands. Since it was late in the day and we were on a time schedule they told us they could give it a listen/look and see if it was something serious. Tim and Austin came out and took the time to speak to us, listened to our concerns and went out to see the car. They let us both know that it was something to probably look into. We decided to leave our car in their care and in less than 24 hours they fixed her back up. What made this experience special was the care they went into making us feel included. I was getting phone call updates from Tim as they worked on my car. When I went to go pick up my car, Tim brought out the damaged piece of the car and educated us on what they did and how this piece functions in the car. I can't even begin to describe how incredible touch I was that he even did that. He didn't have to do that, but the fact that he wanted to reassure us that they were not there trying to play games or upsell us, says so much to the standards and values this place holds. Listen no one wants to go to a mechanic willingly, we go because there is a problem that we are incapable of fixing (like going to the hospital).I've been to many other mechanics and this one shines above and beyond any other big hot shot place. Mind you my car 2 weeks ago went in for a check at the Jeep dealership prior to us taking this long road trip. Jeep told me the only issue I had was my battery and coolant tank was leaking... which those two items were replaced not even 9 months ago. If it wasn't for Tim, Austin and the whole team at Western auto service we could have ended up seriously injured. Words cannot even compare to the gratitude we have for Western auto service but thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart. What an amazing experience! I, like others, dread the automotive repair experience. Often, the time, expense, and anxiety over finding a reputable mechanic is daunting. I am happy to report that my experience at Western Auto far surpassed my expectations! I first visited after reading other Yelp reviews for a quote on my 75k spark plug replacement. I was treated kindly and quickly had a quote in hand. I did my due diligence researching other mechanics and was pleased to know that Western Auto was not only in line, but better in terms of price and the overall feel of the shop. I pulled the trigger and made an appointment for this morning. It was a wonderful experience. My vehicle was taken into the service bay promptly and I was OUT in less than one hour. During my short wait I enjoyed the very clean waiting area which provided coffee, water, and snacks:) Upon check-out the coupon from their website was honored and I drove off with my vehicle running better than ever! Before service was completed I was given one price and agreed to it. After the job was done, I was given a higher price after they told me one of the services did not need to be completed after all. When I asked for clarification, the staff was condescending and gave vague and conflicting answers. It felt like they were intentionally being deceptive to squeeze more money out of the job. Transparency is the bare minimum I expect, and this business fell far short. read more

I took my car here to get a minor repair. They told me they were going to get the replacement part in on Friday so Friday afternoon I called asking for an update because I hadn't heard anything. they said my car was done. I told them I would come in that same day because he said they closed at 5:30. I arrived there before 5:30 and the lights were off and the doors to the building were locked. The doors to my car, sitting right out front, however were not. My car was left unlocked overnight so I locked it with the button inside. I also looked for about 15 min incase they had left my key somewhere in or around my car and they hadn't. It's the most inconsiderate service to leave early knowing a customer was coming without calling or offering the lock box service right outside. Terrible customer service. We will not be back. read more

Big shout out to Reliable Automotive for almost blowing up my engine after a routine oil change. Thank god popped open the hood to try and find the source of a leak that started right after I took it to you guys. Your Mechanic forgot to put the cap back on and yes I took pictures of their handiwork. My mom goes to you guys all the time, you guys have awesome reviews. But I will never be back because it's clear you can't even remember to do the most basic work properly. Also 10 dollars to rotate my tires?? Come on, Pep Boys does it free with every oil change! Just bought a used car, after a few days of driving it; the check engine light comes on! My first thought is, "oh sh!t"but this place had great reviews, so I decided to bring my car over to them. Reliable Automotive is in fact, reliable. They are also skilled and honest. Eric, the owner, replaced our brakes and calipers, AND changed our oil all in one morning. The brakes in our truck went out the day before we were planning to drive to Oregon for Thanksgiving. Eric got us in at 8am and out by 10am with new brakes, calipers, and the oil changed - and he charged us more than fairly! Amazing! Eric saved Thanksgiving!
