Was new in KC and looking for a new reliable shop because my VW GTI 07 was on it's last leg. I was impressed a few times by these guys and finally decided to write a review. They really care about their work and about their customers. They would text me back updates to the minute most times. I've never had an issue with the price and the few times I pushed back on the quote, they were able to break it down and I was able to corroborate what they were telling me either online or from others mechanics. Me and my friend have been taking our BMW's to Autopia for well over a year now. There are very personable, informative, and helpful gentleman at this establishment. They undercut European dealership maintenance prices while keeping the great quality and integrity of work. Highly recommend if you drive a German car. They sold me a new battery that was under warranty with interstate.. when they should have just replaced it. Moreover, the customer service department at interstate told me Autopia told them it was a Costco battery which it was most definately not. read more

This auto repair shop was recommended to me by a body shop owner where I was getting work done. I had described an issue I had had for almost 2 years and her exact words were, "If anyone can fix it, they can...and they won't mess with you." Words to live by (ok...maybe those weren't her exact words, but I'm keeping Yelpified.) My engine light had been on for the most part of 2 years. Several things had been suggested to me by two different dealerships and an independent auto repair shop...none worked. Oh yeah, dad also put his two cents in every once in a while. Without getting into too many details (which would probably cause me to run out of characters) let's just say, they were always GUESSES on their part. The light would be turned off by them...but they never really fixed the issue. It would always pop back on after a couple of days. So I made an appointment with AUTOPIA and they got me in very quickly. I left it there all day and they called at each step to explain everything...and not as if I were an idiot! I felt like a person they cared about (unlike my local Mercedes dealership) and they didn't talk to me in circles.The guys there are very nice. I ended up having to go back a couple of times after that so they could appropriately diagnose the problem and AT LAST...they did. They did the work, for what I considered reasonable, and my light has not come back on! I have no warranty and it wasn't covered under insurance, so this was money out of my pocket and they took that into consideration. I'm confident that they are skilled and resourceful enough to help anyone. I will go back here for everything my car needs. read more

Honest, friendly, & reliable I moved to Lenexa almost 3 years ago. My daughter's boyfriend's uncle recommended Autopia to me almost a year ago at Thanksgiving. Brad works the front desk and answers the phone. He is always upbeat and willing to help however he can; he's friendly and professional. Roger, the owner, is awesome! I remember the first time I called to get an estimate on something and then told him I felt it was a bit high. After he explained why the service was priced as it was it made a lot more sense to me. Had a nasty exhaust/oil odor in my VW Passat 1.8t that I asked them to check along with another small repair. The technician said he didn't notice it and gave me lip service. Went to another shop in Merriam to discover it was the crankcase bleeder hose/valve that was cracked and causing the odors to enter the cabin. Fixed by the Merriam shop and now there are no dangerous noxious odors in the car. I'll never go back to Autopia - and I live in Lenexa. read more

So tired and frustrated with taking my BMW to the only dealer in KC and getting totally ignored, being treated rudely, and losing the use of my car for days...and OMG! the final bills, I was ready to roll the dice and look for an independent shop. The dice came up "7" with Roger, Gary and the group! No push to do any repair beyond what was required to fix the immediate problem, OMG! I hate shops that make you feel your car is going to blow up on the way home if you don't do all the things they suggest. Made an appointment and had the car back the same day...has never run better. To the person complaining about the $95 oil change, twice I've taken my car to one of those in and out shops...a Valvoline and a Tires Plus...both times they forgot to save and replace the filter insert during the process....both times it cost me three times that amount to correct that error. I'm sure you did not have that problem after leaving Roger's Shop...and as a Shade-Tree mechanic myself, parts and especially the labor on changing the oil on the BMW is well worth the $95. read more
