Nice family owned business in Renton - found them on LivingSocial and would definitely return in the future. The father-son duo was nice to see. I called in to make my appointment a month in advance and the owner thanked me for planning ahead. The day of my appointment proved most difficult with tons of traffic and I knew I was going to be late - so I called them on my way to let them know and ask if they prefer I come another time. The owner answered and said not to worry and thanks for the call. When I got there the son checked my car in and drove it around back. I chatted with the father inside the shop while I had my oil changed and battery checked. Everything checked out and my car was brought back around to where I had dropped it in less than 30 minutes - great service! read more

Most horrible experience I have ever had I've never taken my car to a mechanic before and I never ever will they have had my car since March 25th I was quoted one hour one day for $200 and here we are in August he never calls me I have had to call over and over and over I told him what was wrong with it it took him 2 months just did come up with what was wrong with it and then I come up over there and it's literally in pieces and he's surrounded other cars and he said he's the only mechanic and this guy is so rude he never ever calls me to give me updates and I still have yet to get my car to this day I am calling an attorney do not take your car there ever ever!!!!!!!!!!! read more

It ended up being a way simpler fix and then the car would be good to go. They did a great job explaining every detail to me and making me feel valued as a customer. This is a small garage, but what a great place I found! If I could give more stars I definitely would! Jonathan is a greatly skilled and honest mechanic - he fixed my Toyota sienna minivan: replaced the rotors, brakepads, changed some coils, wheel bearing, did the oil change. I must say that this is a very great place to have work done on your vehicle. Ken the owner is the best, he is very knowledgable with repairs and explaining the problem. I am a mechanic myself, but I broke my hand and could not turn any wrenches. My truck broke down on me I brought it in to these guys and they had it back running in great shape in no time. I find myself getting ripped off once again not only here but many other shops, as a woman needing her car fixed. I came in to fix a sensor and my faulty windows. They gave it a wiggle and sent me off with windows that worked for 24 hours then went back to being non working windows, and a replaced camshaft sensor. They also replaced my seatbelt buckle which is black and my interior is gray. How tacky. They said that the windows worked and they "wiggled" a wire so they put the panel back on without fixing the issue I clearly stated. (Yes, my windows do this, which is why I wanted to PERMENATLY fix the issue. Not wiggle it out.) $500 later and now they want me to pay to remove panel again to fix issue for windows? LMAO WHAT? and my 02 sensor needs to be replaced, but why didn't they include that in the diagnostic? No clue. Advice to Ladies, have your MALE counterpart bring your car in. Don't even call to set up an appointment, just have a male do all the foot work. They seem to be respected more. read more

"Gordon from Auto Pro" knocked on my door in the middle of dinner in violation of the no soliciting policy - coming to someone's home with a shtick is an appallingly creepy and inappropriate behavior from a mechanic's shop. I took my car to Auto Pro a while back, and until this incident I had assumed that I would use them again for any future needs. UPDATE: called Auto Pro to complain. They stated they had contracted door to door solicitors and would not take my complaint seriously without my full name and address. I don't want to risk being blacklisted and charged extra at the other shops in town and would not give it to them and was told at one point that I was "just telling stories" since I wouldn't "stand up behind it". It was like reporting a mugging and having the police tell you they won't take your word that you were even wearing a watch in the first place, and therefore they refuse to believe it's been ripped off your wrist. It was a deliberately illogical response and the apologies I got later during the call cannot make up for it. I will never give these people another dime. read more

Being new to the area and not knowing any mechanics can be stressful when your car needs repairs, which was the case with me. I'm glad I found this place though. This shop is owned by wonderful people who do amazing work. The employees and owner are kind, knowledgeable, professional people who care about their customers and the cars they drive. Took my car in to have the Muffler looked at since it was beginning to sound like a plane ready for take off. I went early in the morning to ensure that I would be one of the first few and was surprised to that I was the only one there. So they immediately took the car into the port and within 20 minutes my car was purring like a kitten! The service from the guys was as good as one would hope. If there were a way to give negative stars, I would. I have a theory about this place-they prey upon unsuspecting women who they think they can overcharge for services and parts. I took my car to them when it was running high, at about 2000-4000 RPMs, and I TOLD THEM it was the intake. Something was wrong with the intake. (I happen to know a little about cars after working on my old 1965 Mustang for 7 years) They charged me twice to fix this problem, first by replacing the intake valve gaskets, which were not worn, cracked or damaged. When that did not fix the problem (because that was not the problem) they charged me AGAIN to replace the idle air control solenoid. This is a $124 part, according to the Ford dealership. Autopro charged me $227 PLUS $100 labor. For anyone who knows this part on the car, it is small, easy to get to, and takes the removal of two bolts. After paying for all this (just so I could have my car back) I tried to negotiate with them about the price of parts and labor, etc. They lied to me, told me four different stories, refused to call me back at one point, and would not admit that they were in the wrong. I am an honest, hard-working school teacher. Not only did they have my car for four days, but they charged me an arm and a leg for it. These people (mechanics, front desk help, managers, etc.) are absolute imbeciles, liars, nitwits, and complete jerks!!!! They give good car shops a bad name. Shame on them!! read more

These people will rip you off in a heart beat. Ken, the owner, will not honor the mechanics work. He has taught his mechanics well on how to lie straight face to the customer. They put a defective heater in my car that smoked, now after having them replace it, the air will not blow out of the vents. I have found extra parts on the floor of my car and they are refusing to fix it without charging me $1000.00. They say the dash has to come out. Stay away from Auto Pro in Renton Washington. They do not know what they are doing and try to blame the owner of the car. I won't even rate them because they don't deserve it. If you read any good reviews, I would think it is the owner doing it. Someone from the shop came into my place of business soliciting their "punch card" to myself and my employee. He then hard-sold my employee (who was on the clock!!!) and would not take "I don't have the money" for an answer! I sure am glad I paid my employee for 20 minutes of being hard-sold on oil changes with hidden fees. One of his selling tactics was to mention their 4.5 star rating on Yelp! He said nothing about the PAGES of negative reviews that aren't factored into their score. read more

For those that claim they have been swindled and left a poor rating - get a clue or get a bicycle. I took my truck into autopro to get it diagnosed. It had a short somewhere and the short was preventing it from starting. I took it in to see exactly what was wrong with it. I picked autopro because it was with in my 5 miles of free towing from AAA. I should've just sent it to my buddies shop in the first place but it was about 18 miles from my house. Anyways, I took it in and they said I needed a new ignition switch, starter, solenoid, & I had a short somewhere. They quoted me $650 for all of the work. I just happened to have replaced my starter and solenoid about 5 days earlier AND had it tested 2 days prior to taking it in. So I knew it was perfectly fine. After paying the $114 diagnostics fee I had it towed to my buddies work. The ignition switch, the starter & the solenoid were perfectly fine. I had a short that needed to be fixed. It cost me $350 to fix the short at bucky's brake & muffler off pacific hwy. Do NOT use Auto-pro. I highly recommend Bucky's brake and muffler off of pacific highway. The place doesn't have a single bad review and the manager Wally will work with YOUR budget and they're honest! read more

I have taken my car into Autopro twice now for major repairs and both times the integrity level has been awful! I will never take my car back there again. They lied about times, about what was wrong, did not have a working knowledge of the parts and when they made a mistake they did not take accountability for the mistake and resultant problems it produced. They did how ever offer to fix it if I paid them more money! Even the local pro parts place refuses to do business with them because of their horrible work. I took my car in for routine maintenance (oil change, tire rotation) which should have cost no more than $100. I was charged almost $500. In addition when I picked up the car i noticed that they had driven it 33 miles!!! I complained to them at the time and their answer was that they had to test the car. After repeated calls to the owner, I was told that that was not possible, that their technicians would never drive the car that far so I must be mistaken. 09-30-08Posted by dkjrz The oil pump went out on our Ford Explorer while driving on I-5. Since I did not know the extent of damage done to the engine due to lack of oil, I decided to replace the engine. I contacted Auto Pro through an ad on the internet and recieved a estimate for a rebuilt engine. This extimate was for $3,150.00 and 7 days to complete the work. 5 weeks and $4,741.50 the car was supposedly finished. I had driven the car with no problems up until the minute the oil pump had gone out. I was told by Auto Pro that I needed a new radiator and power steering pump. When I asked why I needed these new parts when they worked fine prior to them working on the vehicle . I was told prove it. I asked for all the old parts, out of all the parts I received only 4. If I wanted the old power steering unit back, I would have to buy it back from Auto Pro. Less than a week after picking up the car, I was laying in the snow at Snoqualmie Pass trying to figure why our explorer would not start (by the way it was Christmas Eve). After having the car towed, I ended paying a mechanic $175.00 to tighten a ground wire that had not been tightened by Auto Pro. Now the car surges at an idle, the guages flucatuate wildly anytime they want. When starting the vehicle the battery draws down like it has no power. It was check and no problems were found. The radio changes stations without touching the dial. The car did none of this until Auto Pro "fixed" it. Where is Ken Wright, the owner? With all the problems we had and all the requests to have Ken Wright call me in 7 months not one call or e-mail. He has not been forthcoming with AAA about our complaint we filed. I wrote a letter to the Attorney General about this only to be told that none of their calls or letters to Auto Pro had been answered so there was nothing that they could do. In reading the other reviews my story seems to fit a pattern. My sincere hope is that enough people will band together and put a end to this problem. We took our car in for a break job, oil change, and five fluid change. The original numbers they gave us were around $650, but an hour later they quoted us $2,164. Within a couple of weeks, the oil started leaking to the point that the red light came on saying low oil pressure and our car was smoking! Luckily we made it into another shop where they told us that oil was leaking every where and the gasket on the filter was faulty. They also said the fuel filter clip was evidently broken and had been replaced with wire instead of bolts!! They also used the cheapest rotors you can get. I went into Auto Pro to figure out if they could tell me why my heat wasnt working anymore. Just for the basic look was 50 bucks & if I wanted them to look deeper it would be another 50. I felt that them just looking at my blower motor wasnt really worth 50. So being that I really needed my heat fix & needed answers they looked further into my issue & I found out that my blower motor wasnt working because I had some water in there & the water was getting into my blower motor because the trays underneath the windowsill was full with leaves. I didnt have the money to get it all fixed that day but that next week I was back & they fixed everything in my car & now I have heat!!! They have great customer service & I appreciate them helping me out & only charging me the 50 for the first consult & giving me a good deal on actually fixing then problem!!! I would recommend all my friends & family to them!! read more

If you care about your car, do not take it to this place. They use students from a technical college for on the job training to try and work on your car at your expense then and later because of the damage that can occur. They broke the ignition key off in the unlocked door right off the bat and did not pay for the replacement. They could not fix the damage that had already been done. They lose parts and don't put them back where they belong. Run away from this place as fast as you can because you will save yourself a whole lot of trouble and money. read more

this place is a scam. notice that all of the cars around the place NEVER leave? that's because 1) they are understaffed and it takes them days to complete any work 2) they inflate their prices from the original estimates insanely so people are not able to afford their car work & they keep their cars. i went to them three or four times. every time i had MAJOR issues. each time i would explain to them that i i needed my car for my delivery job, so i needed my car back in a reasonable amount of time & that because i don't have much money the estimate that they gave me was really the most i could afford. EVERY TIME they would quote something that was almost reasonable & i would agree to that. also, they would say that it would only be a couple hours or maybe a day or two. the first time i took my car to them it was because it failed the emissions test because of a small leak and i asked for them to fix it. they gave me the quote of $90 and said it would be ready the next day. it took me exactly one week to get my car and when i went to pay they said "okay, that'll be $350". my eyes bugged out of my head as i tried to take in the dramatic difference. not only did they inflate the price, but i missed an entire week of work because of them. the second time was because my wife's car was having issues. the rack & pinion needed to be replaced. again they quoted about $600 & said it would be done in a few hours. about three days later they were finally done and told us the price and it was over twice the price of the estimate... around $1330. my wife is also a delivery driver, so she missed work that whole time too. the manager gave us a "deal" and gave us a $100 discount. the third time we were getting a "free brake job" to make up for the problems we had with them before. we brought our own brake pads and we were told it would be free & done in a couple of hours. at one point they called and said that we needed to replace a rotor so it would be $40. my wife verified THREE TIMES "okay, so only $40, right?" two or three days later we finally got her car and it was going to be about $500!!! on the receipt they had charged us for brake pads... we supplied our own! our brake pads were on the table right in front of their computer. so the manager came in (damion) again and "made a deal" with us... so our free brake job went from free to $40 to $500 to $200-something. when we were complaining about how it was not right that they should quote one price and then inflate it SO DRAMATICALLY (keeping our voices low out of consideration for them since they had customers in the lobby) damion raised his voice really loudly so that everyone could hear and tried to make us look like idiots. he was like, "i gave you premium brakes, rotors, and labor for only $200. i dare you to find one person who doesn't think that is a good deal. there isn't anything on here that would only cost $40... you should have used your common sense!" i was like, "my common sense is that if my mechanic gives me a quote for a service, then it should end up somewhere within a reasonable range of that amount". i'm especially peeved today because we have been taking our cars to midas (way better customer service there!) ever since auto pro and today we found out that when they did the rack & pinion they did it wrong and now we have to pay over $1000 to fix it AGAIN! we called auto pro and of course the manager was not in to speak to us. the last time we went there and had the trouble with the $500 "free" brake job, damion gave us cards for two "free" oil changes. we tossed those cards... i don't think we can afford a "free" oil change from them because it'll end up costing about $800 and take a week to do it! this place is terrible. please, do not take your car there. Poor Work! good at first but turned into a nightmare. my first experience with auto pro was a positive one. we had just moved to town and needed work done. i spent $2,500 on a large number of repairs to both my vehicles. the rep was named mike and he did a great job. then about a month later my vehicle started to leak oil. i brought it in and there was a new guy named eric. they took it in and said i needed $170 worth of repairs which i agreed to because i needed it fixed quickly (i later looked up the price of the part they replaced, they charged me $70 for a $5 part!!). they told me they had fixed the problem and it wasn't leaking any more. i brought it home and sure enough it kept leaking, becoming worse over time. i brought it back in and later that day they said it was ready to pick up.. neglecting to tell me anything else. when i went to pick it up they said, "here you go it's all ready". i said uhh what was the problem. he just said they screwed up. so i left, the next morning i went out to my vehicle and there was a huge puddle of oil under the vehicle. i was pissed but i was $170 into this job and i wanted it done. so i brought it back the next day... the vehicle sat there all day and when i called right before closing time he said they hadn't gotten to it. so i told him to have it ready for me in the morning i was going to pick it up and take it somewhere else. the next morning i arrived and he told me they put it up and couldn't find a leak. then they told me that only that morning had they removed the skid plate under my vehicle (which needs to be done in order to change the oil!!!) and had found dirt and oil sitting in it. what a joke, when i got home i checked the oil level and it was near empty. I've been taking cars to Autopro for fifteen years. They used be be very dependable and competent. Sadly, as time has passed, the service quality has declined. Recently I took a vehicle in for a rough running engine. Was the same problem they repaired a couple years ago (not their fault it was running rough again...) They kept the car for over a week. Told me several times that they didn't know what was wrong, suggesting the cost could be "thousands". They finally "fixed" my problem, charged me several hundred dollars, called me a couple weeks later to check on me and to see if everything was OK (which is a nice touch). Shortly after that (I'd only driven the care 100 miles after the repair), the problem reoccured. While I think that they are sincere (I never once thought they were dishonest or trying to "rip me off" as some suggest) I don't think they are very good mechanics and have become numb to dealing with complaints. Honestly, I'd take my car back there to have the work on it until they got the repair right, but I just don't have the time. I've taken it to the car dealer's service center. So, for routine maintenance, I think they are fine - oil changes, etc... But for true mechanical issues, I would probably look at other options. It pains me to say this in a review - sort of like complaining about an old friend. But facts are facts. read more

RUN AWAY!!!!! If you are smart, you will NOT take your car to this place. This business uses students from Renton Technical College to do on the job training on your car. I did not realize this until after I had my car there three times to fix what they broke. I took it in originally to have the blower motor replaced. That new blower motor started smoking. I took it in again to have them replace that. The blower motor works but now the air does not come out of the vents. I tried to give them a chance to fix it but they broke the ignition key off it the door lock. They had to take me home to get my second set of keys. After that, I would not let them touch my car and to make matters worse, I find out from another shop that several of my vacuum lines are disconnected and I still have no air coming out of the vents and no cruise control. I don't have the money to fix what Auto Pro broke!!!!! They wouldn't even pay to replace the ignition key they broke off in my door. DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!!!!! read more
