I can accept that better than the lines you gave me about your other customers deciding against the fix and how my car wouldn't be worth repairing. Let's also be honest about the fact that you did not recommend a single thing to me. (Other than to drive a cheaper car.)You asked where I planned to trade my car in, and I informed you that I was taking it back to Land Rover where I purchased it, to upgrade to a newer one. NEVER AGAIN! Will I take my car to a different mechanic. I used someone else to take care of a timing belt on the recommendation of a friend. They took care of it alright - if you like stuff done completely wrong! Then, I brought my car to Dan to have it fixed correctly. He took care of me in a timely manner and wrote up a very detailed explanation of all that he found that was done incorrectly. His carefully written explanation was instrumental in getting a full refund (minus all the parts I pre-bought that were destroyed) from the other shop. I own an e60 535i bmw.. I went in today with a coolant leak, rear break pads warning and a gear malfunction warning... I was just looking to get my coolant leak looked at but I than I also agreed to get my pads replaced cause I didn't realize how thin they had gotten...dan call me to come pick up the car at 2pm... I picked up the car and I was so happy cause their were no warnings on my dashboard... they must've done something small that actually took off the gear malfunction warning... it may come back but I now know that I think it's just the ribbons under the gear selector that are wearing out and neededto be replaced.. another thing that made me happy was that dan actually knows his way around BMW's! Dan has worked on my 2006 Jeep Commander twice now and both visits have been exceptional. This last visit was to replace my aging alternator and to fix a parking brake (cable) that had been broken for a while. The work took three days including getting parts. Dan called me personally each morning to keep me updated on the status of the car. He offered me options at every opportunity and told me up front that the parking brake would involve a good amount of labor and gave me a chance to back out. When I picked up the car, he showed me pictures to show that he had to take out the driver and back seats to access the cable. The invoice was also very easy to read. Diagnostics, labor, and parts. Very reasonable. Will continue to bring my vehicles to Dan. read more

Dan is the man! FINALLY got my car fixed - and what I mean by "finally" is that I previously went to two auto repair shops prior to going here; and in sum, third time is a charm! The other two shops didn't diagnose my car problem very well which left my car in the verge to an engine catastrophe. Lucky I found Import Auto Repair nearby and decided to give it a try, and voila! My car is back and running like it's supposed to! I had this mysterious sound coming from the interior of my '09 Corolla but two of the shops that I went to prior to this shop didn't have a clue of what was making that noise. Both shops say that it could be harmless and that I should just get an oil and air filter change from them in hopes for the sound to go away. Yeah I got the oil change and yeah I changed the air filter, but why is that sound still there? The sound got worse after a week and my little Corolla is starting to sound like a 500 ton semi truck! I was tempted to go to a dealership to get it properly diagnosed, but wanted to give one more repair shop a leap of faith. When Dan checked my car, in 2 minutes he was able to properly diagnose the issue. And as soon as I got my car back, my car sounded bran spankin new! He says that if I didn't get it fixed soon, it would cause detrimental damage to my engine; so I'm glad that I didn't listen to those previous repair shops that didn't know what they were talking about. Moreover, in terms of price from this service, it was a fraction of the price compared to any other auto repair shop if I were to get the same service done! Overall, I'm happy with the service and also happy that I can safely drive with a quiet car. Only mystery there is now is figuring out how this place is so awesome! read more

Was a customer for several years, however within the last 2 years the quality of repair actions have not been been poor and the repair cost have increased a lot. had my car in for repair and decided to have the oil change which was completed by the dealer on a regular basis, the next time i had the oil changed at the dealer they said my oil drain plug had been over torqued. And the oil pan would have to be replaced, very expensive. the other problem was reassembly, which did not occur correctly, to the point the car had to be returned to the shop because of noise. Honest, meticulous and knowledgeable. Took lots of time to thoroughly go over a 97 jag xk convertible I had flown in from Cali to buy. Drove it, put it on the lift, checked it, recognized some minor issues and posed solutions, and gave helpful tips about how not to get ripped on future repairs and maintenance (e.g. a certain spec Ford fluid is exact same as Jag but a third the price). Took lots of time to explain everything, way longer than it seemed he should for what he was charging me. You can tell when someone is looking for angles, and you can tell when it's not even in their DNA. This is a good guy, and the first and only Yelp review I've taken the trouble to write. I've taken my car to Import Auto Repair several times. Each time they have been up front about what needed to be repaired - and what did not. My most recent visit resulted because another shop told me I needed all of my brakes, front calipers and rotors replaced. I took the car to Import Auto Repair prepared to shell out for all of those repairs! However, they called and told me that no, the calipers and rotors were fine, and the back brakes were not worn enough to justify replacement at this time. They replaced the worn front brakes at a fraction of the price I had originally planned to pay. I have found these guys to be honest and do awesome work. Literally the most honest shop I have ever been to! Took my 4runner in back in june due to a coolant loss that had to get fixed asap because I was getting transfered for work. Very quickly they were able to diagnose it as the headgasket, and not only give a quote for time and cost, but then proceded to give me recommendations on what they thought the best course of action was (in this case they went as far as to recommended not fixing it because of the cost of the repair vs the value of the vehicle) They wouldnt even make any money doing that! but they wanted me to make an educated decision. Due to time constraints I wasnt able to have them fix it at the time, and ended up doing it myself later, but their diagnosis was SPOT ON. I would not hesitate to take anything back there in the future and will send all friends there from here on out! read more

I could not recommend anyone, in any service sector, more than I recommend Dan and Lisa at Import Auto Repair! I had taken my car in to the dealership b/c the engine was cutting out as I was driving. The dealership charged me $445 to *not* fix the problem. I called Import Auto Repair and explained to Lisa the history of the problem. She relayed this information to Dan. Dan said he thought he knew what the problem was and how to repair it. Later that day I drove my car to IAR. Much to my surprise by the time I arrived Dan had already ordered the part that he thought was the problem! I left the car in the late afternoon, returned the next morning to pick up my fully repaired car for about $250. Yes, the problem was exactly what Dan had diagnosed *over the phone*! I've since returned to IAR a few times, each time I leave not only with a working car at a very, very fair price but I learn more about my car. And hanging out with Lisa and Miles always leaves a smile on my face! If you're tired of mechanics who guess what your car's problem is and being overcharged, just do yourself the best favor you could concerning your vehicles; go see Dan and Lisa! I would like to leave a response on the review that my brother and the business owner left. Please read the below for partial context. I had taken in my car into this shop 3 times. One for brakes and another for the warranty on the brake job because of the caliber failure and lastly because my cylinder 3 misfire.On the last time I went to the shope for the misfire my brother (who is also a mechanic, but lives 3 hrs from me) checked the work that was done and left a review that you can read. I did call the business owner and I am shocked at the dishonesty of the response of the business owner about our conversation on the phone. I never apologized for my brother's response. I only stated that I apologize if there were unkind words exchanged. I stated to the owner that I cannot speak to anything mechanically because I do not understand. We ended the conversation that there was a lack of communication (mainly on their part) and that is why I was confused on some of the work done on my vehicle. I will not go back to this shop, if he is unable to be honest about our conversation on the phone. I am scared of the dishonesty done my vehicle. __________________________________________________________ Erik (My brother's review) - They dishonestly sold things that did not need to be repaired. the main repair/ concern was inaccurately charged for labor resulting in a bill that was close to 2x the fair price that would of been charged at a more reputable honest shop. on top of all that a part was installed that previously had no problems (therefore very not needed) and charged for that also. the part was an interior part that was also the wrong color! at least the customer got her old perfectly ok part left in her center consil to remind her why to never go to this shop again! Not Just Imports! Our SIL took his Ford Explorer to a repair place in Renton which tried to sell him over $3,000 of suspension parts for a problem that was obviously a drivetrain problem. Without giving Import Auto the information on that incorrect diagnosis, they correctly diagnosed the problem and solved it for just over 10% of the cost of the other place "estimate."
