I flew out to Chicago to help my mom, who lives in Romeoville with a few things and on the day I was flying back, I noticed the condition of her windshield wipers. I had no idea how to change these, but knew I could not leave her car in this condition. I went to Autozone to buy the replacement and was helped by Collin. Collin was very helpful and offered me 3 types of wipers ranging from 20-70 dollars. He could of sold me the most expensive and I would of bought them, but when he knew I was unsure he asked me how much driving my mom does and suggested the middle range one (36 bucks each). I asked him if they were easy to put on and he said yes, but he offered to do it for me. He took off the old ones and put the new ones on and said if you mom needs anything tell her to come here and we will help her out. If its something easy that we can do, we will. The customer service at this store is the most abysmal and poor I have ever seen. I went into this location on 7/16 at approx. 12:30 PM. From the moment I walked into the store, the "Parts Manager", a middle-aged man with long, black hair in the back, made it blatantly obvious that he either despised any and all customers or just simply hated his job. This man scowled at anyone that came up to the counter asking for assistance. "What do you want?", I was greeted with. I expressed that I wanted to return an item. He then proceeded to roll his eyes, before dismissing another woman that had come in for a check engine light. I handed him the item, along with an Autozone receipt that I had purchased from a different location, and the first question he asks me is, "Where did you even get this from?". I thought the AUTOZONE receipt would have been self-explanatory, but I guess not. He then opens the item, examines it for all of 5 seconds and tells me, "It's used". Yes, I explained from the beginning that I tried the tool, and it did not function as advertised, as in it did not even work at all. "Well, it's heavily used and it's obvious" again scoffing and rolling his eyes. He was not able to answer my question as to how I am supposed to decide if a tool works or not unless I try it. The tool DID NOT WORK and it was not "heavily used". This accusation was completely inappropriate. After packing it back in the box, he proceeded to punch a few more keys on his computer and once again made a comment that "You're not supposed to use the tools and then return them". This was the last straw for me, and at this point I told him that I didn't appreciate his attitude and would take it to a different location. He then accused me of having an attitude instead, despite all of the prior events, before forcefully giving me back my tool and throwing a tantrum to the shock of the people behind me. This employee is an appalling example of how you should treat your customers, and the experience I had at the Plainfield location was entirely different. No attitude whatsoever from them and returned without any problems. I will never go back to this store again, and will not hesitate to share this experience with others. Go elsewhere. read more

I repair cars for a living and a hobby. I only come here when absolutely necessary. There staff is RUDE and seem to be bothered by a customer's presence. They HATE you if you order on-line and then have to return anything here at their store. Even Cores! To the contrary in every way, O'Reilly's treats me like an expert that they are "trying to help". And when I can wait, Rock Auto's prices are the best. I think in time this dinosaur will die away, since they've forgotten who's money pay's their bills and payroll!! read more

Pulled in AutoZone on 7/8/2019 with a battery problem. The moment I walked in the store they asked if they could help. Dan looked up the year, make and model of my car and went outside to look under the hood, my battery was smoking! We went back in, he laid out all my options, prices and warranties. I selected the mid priced battery, he even gave me a 10% courtesy discount. He went outside and changed my battery, FREE of charge! Car started up no problem. I tried to give him a little something for his trouble and he wouldn't take it, said to say nice things about his store. So Dan, here's to you and the excellent service you provided me with. Had an unfortunate experience here. On a Friday afternoon around 3:00pm I came in to purchase a battery and some windshield washer solution. When I came up to the desk, both employees were on the phone with people (possibly customers). After 6 minutes of standing there with money in hand, I got tired of being completely ignored, put my items back and went across the parking lot to buy my items at Wal Mart. I guess I can understand having only 2 people working during the slow time of the day. I also understand that both of these phone calls had started before I got in line. The part that really bothered me was that the staff was refusing to even acknowledge that a paying customer was standing there. For 6 minutes I was completely invisible to both staff members at the store even though I had my cash in my hand and my battery and washer fluid on the floor in front of me. There was no "I'll be right with you" or not even so much as a head nod. They just went on answering the questions on the phone while I remained invisible. When I put my money back in my pocket and carried my items back to the shelf and walked out, I'm not quite sure if either staff member even noticed. I know the smaller stores like to complain about wal mart "stealing" their business. In this case, Auto Zone pretty much turned down my business and sent me to Walmart. Apparently my original review wasn't informative enough so let's start from the beginning, went there for a battery change since they advertise they can change the battery for you. One employee came out looked at the battery and said nope I can't change that. So I asked for the manager, the manager completely blew me off when I asked why can't you change my car battery. Then when asked for the district managers phone number I was first told I can not have it, then when I again asked another employee they pointed to where I can find it so I called. The district manager could not understand why they are refusing to change a battery and offered me to go to another location in his region, so I did. Then offered me to come back to the romeoville location for a formal apology. So I came back to find out the district manager hasn't even talked to the manager on duty yet. Once he did speak to him the manager could not even apologize like an adult. Instead he decided to lean over a cart and not even look me in the eyes. Needless to say I will not be returning and since I work in the area I direct questioning customers elsewhere looking for car services. Now here's my original post: Couldn't install a simple battery when they advertise they can. Much better going down to the lockport location where they can change the battery, no hassle, and with a smile. Detailed enough for ya autozone. read more

i would absolutely not, ever, ever, ever in life go here again!! the cashier, and both managers that were there were complete idiots! my guy brought some oil, and a filter which were on sale to the counter, and stated that they were on sale, and the ignorant cashier snatched, and ran through the sales ad, and goes, no it's not! then my guy went to get the sales sign, and brought it to her then she just walked off, and asked a manager to take care of us which we didn't know until i snapped on the ignorant manager, and asked why she walked off, and left us standing there, and he replied, with an attitude, she asked me to come take care of you, and i said why was that necessary, and why did she just walk off, and didn't tell us anything, and why is she arguing with us, (he was'nt even at the register we were at, there was another manager where we were, but he did'nt say a word, he just walked up, and angrily started pressing buttons on the register)and she has no idea of the items we want to buy, he just shook his head, and rolled his eyes. i left the items at the register, and walked away, went less than half a mile to o'reilly's, and they were so nice, kind, and helpful. i should have went there to begin with. maybe the auto zone workers aren't getting paid enough money, bc every one, no matter which i go to, the workers are snotty, rude, non chalant, and ignorant! i hate auto zone, and will never go back. it's a shame the pleasant ppl at o'reilly's apologized for the idiots at auto zone. i'm so upset, and they need to do some serious evaluations within their company!! read more
